Heart Ready and Mind Set By Brenda Drake

We are instructed in God’s Word to pray.  There is much to pray for.  We need to lift up all our petitions with a heart willing to let them rest at the foot of the cross.  God hears and answers prayers that align with His Word,  In Jesus name we pray.

Heart Ready and Mind Set

Heart is ready, mind is set, and spirit prepared to go,
To meet with Jesus, the lover of my soul.
Even in my expectation I find,
There is some hesitation at the same time.
My heart is heavy with concerns of the world’s plight,
As terrible doom seems to now loom in sight.
My mind spins at fallacies in the land,|
And at the blatant evil that has overtaken man.
My spirit groans as does the earth in its travail for change,
I yearn for a revival to things rearrange.
I pray for blind eyes to see and for deaf ears to hear.
I pray those dead in their sins to be drawn near.
I pray for the touch of God to invoke our lives,
Where men are men that choose the ways right.
I pray for true repentance where change is forever true.
I pray for safety on the streets and again in the schools.
I pray for the fire of God to revive the Church to become,
Truly a holy living representative of God’s Son.
I pray that there is a greater desire to God’s Word obey.
And that multitudes more sing God’s praise night and day,
I pray every heart is ready with mind set for the spirit to go,
Into the arms of the God that proved He is the lover of every soul.

John 14:13-18
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son”.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
 Pray without ceasing.

Prayer of Expectation By Brenda Drake

Prayer of Expectation

Father I come to You in petition in prayer,
To ask in behalf of another for whom I care.
Now I believe it is Your love that is within me for them so strong.
And that it is Your desire to turn them from wrong.
So I ask in faith that You will intervene in their behalf.
And You will draw them into You and provide what it is they lack.
The ones I pray for I know has a choice to make,
But I pray that the chains that bind You will break.
Draw them each and every one closer to you still,
Help them to desire the Father’s will.
By faith I expect to see,
The evil spirits that hinder them begins to flee.
I will expect to see a great mighty work begin,
As You help them to recognize their sin.
And as You draw them as a bee to honey-comb.
I give thanks and praise right now to You and You alone.

Matthew 21:22
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

To Fast for the Curves Ahead By Brenda Drake

I have had a few times when I was so sure the way I was going was ordained by God only to find it was not.  The results turn out so much better when I approach my decisions with caution.  If we are not careful in our excitement and exuberance we are not fully aware of the curves ahead and find we are traveling too fast in the wrong direction.

To Fast for the Curves Ahead

In life’s travels you will find,
Things need to slowdown in trying times.
When trouble is ahead you do not always know,
But there may be signs that tell to go slow.
There are some that are on the fast track,
And they fly ahead and do not look back.
They are going toward a goal as fast as they can move,
Unaware of the trouble they are traveling too.
Relationships are at times like this;
When so set on the path the warning signs you miss.
Some may say perhaps you should take your time,
So every obstacle and every road block you will find.
The too-fast-for-the-curves-ahead signs do not mean to still stay.
Nor do you need to turn around or go another way.
Life has many twists and turns and some obstacles it is true;
But life has some free flying times too.
Listen to your inner-guide; He will not lead you astray.
Jesus died to give life-abundant in every way.
He is the way good you travel and He is your light.
Seek ye first the kingdom and He gives a rich, full life.
It is not always the way you want but always the way best.
Trust God, heed the warning signs as you in Him rest.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Time For Place of Rest By Brenda Drake

In the quiet, out of the busyness of life we are able to enter into the presence of the Lover of our soul.  In the silence we are able to hear the still voice that leads us to the most satisfying space, where the world and its troubles fade.  Faith is restored and joy and peace revisits as God restores, assures, and calms the troubled seas within.

Time for Place of Rest

It is like a place off the beaten path;
A stopping-place before you go ahead or turn back,
A time of respite …some extra time,
To plan your next step, to new direction find,
It is like a quiet little vacation, to contemplate,
Your course and purpose before it is too late.
Some call it a sabbatical …where you just minister to yourself;
Where, for a short time you shut the world out.
Some allow a friend or a close relative,
To glimpse the little retreat, they choose to briefly live.
But, some choose to spend time only with God above;
Allowing Him to fill with wisdom and His abundant love.
They find a clearer direction and are strengthened too;
So in God’s Spirit they more easily move.
Come spend a short time or stay as long as you desire,
Come a little while to the place of rest; closer to Love’s loving-fire

Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

What Profit By Brenda Drake

What Profit?

What profit is there to the life spent well?
Some say it will show in material wealth.
Some think it is measured by friends,
That their funeral service attends.
Some believe it is those left to live on.
To some the profit ends when they are gone.
What profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?
The self-made man will one day lose control.
All he has worked for is indeed left behind;
But to him no profit is left to find.
What profit is there to a life well spent is the question asked?
The well spent life…. will look ahead and will not look back.
For all he has and has not is the same
For Jesus is his Master …all is applied to His name.
His profit is his testimony and his great desire to serve;
His desire is to live according to God’s Word.
He indeed is be rich with God’s increase within
He may even leave some wealth to share with family and friends.
He may or may not have many that will miss him when he departs,
But those that love him and his God will always be of him apart.
One day every man’s profit will be displayed for all to see.
The redeemed will give all honor and praise to their King.
Together all will enjoy the profit of their life;
A forever-love that fills with great delight.

Matthew 16:26
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

The Pull of Love By Brenda Drake

God is love.  He is always drawing us to Him.  In everything He displays the glory of His love.  I saw His love when I perceived Jesus dying on the cross to save my sin-sick soul.   His creation in every way reveals the great magnitude of His love .  We behold love as we study the Word, and while basking in His presence; in prayer, worship and praise.  I now am able to experience the sure love-touch of God; through those who demonstrate His saving power in their life.

The Pull of Love

The powerful pull of love is strong as steel.
It if genuine it is very real.
Real love, loves unconditionally; but at the same time,
It holds up the high standard God designs.
Man is lower than the angel, but is destined to be,
A heir with God, throughout eternity.
Only God’s love could lift us up this high.
It is only possible because of Jesus’ blood sacrifice.
He generously extends affection each day.
He freely gives so we in turn also give it away.
Worldly kinds of love causes possession to occur,
When  held too tight progress is deterred.
Harsh words or hard thoughts, that scream in protest,
Is not the God-kind-of-love Jesus professed.
However, love through the revelation of God’s Son,
Is longsuffering, and generous when all is done.
Humble and respectful attitudes will one day reap great reward.
Only this kind of love will in God’s kingdom continue forward.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,  Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;  Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;  Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Direction for the Gentle Spirit By Brenda Drake

I never was a person to set out to hurt someone, but I also did not care enough to set out to help them either.  A great change has taken place in my life since Jesus saved my soul.  I not only care for others but I spend time thinking of ways to help them if I am able.  My prayers now are not just for my needs but are also for the need of salvation and the concerns of others.

Direction for the Gentle Spirit

Direction for the gentle spirit, yielded and still,
That hungers and thirsts after the Father’s will.
For the one who wants to see beauty in the most unlovable kind,
That purposes to good in each person find.
Know your God will reveal the deep innermost part,
Of the valuable, empty space in their heart.
I will give you the ability to not only see,
But love enough to inside of them reach for me.
That hard, relentless, calculating person you know,
Has a great need within their soul.
The bitter, angry man uncompromising in his ways
Has great need within for God’s love to brighten his days.
The very sinful man that seems to wallow in the world’s mire,
Their heart too your God also desires.
If you allow me to show you we will gather more and more,
Into the holy presence of the love of your Lord.
I will bestow upon you more than you can contain,
You will over flow like a river in Jesus’ name.
Sweet and peaceful with a gentle warm embrace,
That honors the Father in the world’s last days.
Oh gentle spirit become more like the One you serve.
Learn from the Holy Spirit’s still voice as you read God’s Word.

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Tightly Packed Together By Brenda Drake

Tightly Packed Together

Speak into this heart life, hope, and peace.
Touched by Your favor joy and faith is increased.
Whisper into my being Your strength and ability;
To accomplish the mission ordained for me.
Sharpen my eyes of faith for I fully recognize,
All is not evident with earthly eyes.
Satisfy me with the abundance the Spirit, not with earthly greed.
Fine-tune inner-hearing to hear the silent cries of those in need.
Take me to the place of freedom in Your tight hold,
Where my spirit soars to walk on streets of gold.
As I follow in Jesus’ footsteps; as I run the race;
Allow the Word’s promises to my life overtake.
I pray all my supplications with His plans align;
His will and my desires are packed together sometimes.

Sacrifice of Praise By Brenda Drake

Sacrifice Of Praise

Flower blooms and birds sing even in the rainy day;
Their life is a display of praise.
When the sun hides its warmth and the cool winds blow,
Does this mean man is forgotten in the land below?
Does his face need to be sad and his heart dark and glum?
Does he forget the goodness of God and all he has done?
Man needs also to continue to bring,
Sacrifices of praise to Jesus their Creator-King.
Life is a gift all creation shares;
God’s love and provision proves how much He cares.
Life has times when the sun shines bright;
And moments dark where it is possible to lose sight;
Times of gladness and times of pain;
But the wise know God’s love and care for them remains.
Angels marvel as they watch in delight,
When your obstacles are overcome and the enemy is put to flight;
When you stand tall and with authority proclaim,
You are God’s chosen and renounce despair in Jesus’ name.
They love when you push back your shoulders and lift up your face;
And bloom where you are planted under the banner of grace.
The Angels also lift up their voices and like birds sing,
An anthem of praise when you worship Jesus, your Savior-King
Soon there are no more harsh rains;  and when,
The time joy overflows and never ends!

Hebrew 13:15
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is,
the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Angels are a Extension of His Hand By Brenda Drake

Angels are an Extension of His Hand

There are many stories told
About the beings called angles.
Some are erroneous and some stories are true,
But know, angels do walk among you
When examined the truth stands
God’s angels are an extension of His hand.
Rarely are men of them aware,
But the wise know they are there.
Angels are sent to minister, to assist;
They are a very powerful force to resist,
They seek always to honor Christ Jesus the King
Their words always honor Him in everything.
Their power is evident when man fall to their face.
But your worship for them indeed causes disgrace
An angel’s message lifts up or warns of harm.
They encourage or sound alarm.
Some are sent to instruct and to guide;
Ready always to stand at those redeemed side.
Angels marvel over God’s gift of grace;
At the love the Creator for man they stand amazed.
Angels are dedicated to assist the chosen ones;
Called of God they help His work be done
They cheer over every salvation and each victory,
And they fight with purpose your enemies.
They are very real and really do mingle with men
Sometimes unaware you entertain them.
When Jesus returns for His bride
Heavens streets will be by angels lined
Prayers are answered with angel’s help too,
Every day you have them ministering with you.

Psalm 91:11
 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Hebrews 13:2 KJV
 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
