Dear Reader By Brenda Drake

I wrote this poem many years ago; it is certainly just as relevant today.
Dear Reader
Dear Reader of this letter in rhyme,
I write this message but it is not mine.
As the world’s turmoil will increase;
Seek refuge in the Prince of Peace.
If you feel all is hopeless and feel lost
Come and seek forgiveness at the cross;
As you experience the stress of the times ahead,
Place your hope in Jesus and what the Word has said.
When hatred’s heavy hand touches your life,
Ask and you will receive protection from Christ.
When the time has come for a choice,
Do not allow defeat – lift up your voice.
Lift up the name of Jesus and you will see.
That He indeed will also stand up and fight for thee.
When the times are hard, lean into God’s love and care;
Read the Word and know He is of all things aware.
As you trust watch and wait – He will come through,
For He cannot lie; His Word is truth.
I’ll end this rhyme with one more thought to write;
Watch and be ready and you will see that I am right.
Jesus will appear in the clouds and turmoil and sin
Will be overcome by His rule… on this word you can depend!
Psalms 91:1-4
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler
My Help Comes By Brenda Drake

There is no problem that is too hard for God to solve, or to help us through. When we pray, and when we believe, we will know beyond a shadow of doubt our help comes.
My Help Comes
In the dark place where fear lurks; ready to strike,
My help comes. He is the Light.
When my heart is troubled, and worries arrives at the door,
My help comes; I am filled with the Lord.
He is the answer to every question asked.
His name is Truth and He arrives as fact.
When I am hungry and search to find,
What is needed to satisfy heart, body, or mind,
He is Bread of life that nourishes, and the drink I need.
My help comes as He draws me to His table-abundant to my soul feed.
The world’s harsh climate is hot and cold almost at the same time.
Jesus is the perfect place of comfort I find.
He is Lord, Helper and my friend.
Whenever I have need on Him I depend.
He is Savior, Protector, and Lover of my soul.
He is the one true God; in full control.
When I have strayed He shows me He is the Way.
When I have sinned He forgives me when I pray.
My help comes soon to gather to His side.
When my help comes, I also come to Him as His bride.
Psalms 121:2-3
My help cometh from the Lord,
which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:
he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Easy to the Point Prayers By Brenda Drake

Easy To the Point Prayers
When time is at essence brevity of prayer is best
There is no need to form long, complicated requests.
God sees the problem you asking to be solved,
Your prayer invites Him to be involved.
Life was meant to be a sharing between God and man;
With a free flow always was the plan.
Free and easy and fully comfortable to do,
With no great maze of things needed to go through.
Like a child and their loving father upon the earth would ask.
They would climb up and rest upon their daddy’s lap,
Knowing full well they had his attention,
Knowing they could trust in his good intentions.
They are sure of his love and know he will do his best.
So they ask and believe they will receive, and then they put it to rest.
Their hugs and kisses seal the deal made between them.
Then they run off to play with their friends.
The child of God that knows he is loved is not afraid.
They do not need to practice what they must do or say.
They do not approach the throne with fearful attempts.
They know their God is for them not against.
Long repetitious prayers are a waste to hear.
Causing dishonor to the God that desires you to draw near.
When in worship and in praise and thanksgiving you will find
Heaven kisses your spirit with assurance and gives you peace of mind.
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Each Day’s Decision By Brenda Drake

There is a battle going on each day. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Each Day’s Decision
The attack begins at each days start.
It grabs onto my mind and tries to enter my heart.
It comes in different forms but the mission is the same;
But each day my decision remains.
The world’s circumstances loom and shout out its threats,
But then my heart remembers God is in control yet.
Sickness, heartbreak, and despair come by;
But then I remember The Healer and Helper lives inside.
I am with His strength able to do what is best.
Then if I am wise I will pray and then in His presence rest.
Each day my decision is Jesus. He is my choice.
I will read the Word and I will hear His voice.
I am not nearly as strong as I think I am sometimes;
But I am stronger than I think when Jesus is kept in mind.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
A Little Does Much By Brenda Drake

The Creator made a tree fit into a little seed. There is a harvest with every seed of kindness we plant in His kingdom work. Words are seeds, and actions are seeds too. I marvel when I think of His Word planted in our hearts, and the work He accomplished in our behalf on the cross. I am overjoyed at His victory over death. I am humbled at the realization He is still at work in heaven praying for us each day.
A Little Does Much
Just a ray of light helps the lost find,
The way out of darkness; leaving fear behind.
A word of encouragement makes the faint-hearted strong.
A smile of approval encourages someone along.
A reaching hand can pull from the miry clay.
All it takes is love and kindness to chase loneliness away.
A modest assistance can help the poor to lift his head.
A little hope offered can carry off someone’s dread
One life offered to do God’s work can accomplish much;
Brokenness is made whole by their touch.
A planted seed brings great harvest in return.
Jesus is our harvest we did not earn
As a ray of sunshine your life can be.
Reach out and touch someone… be a light for Me
Romans 15:1-2
We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
Matthew 5:14-16
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
The One Word I Would Proclaim By Brenda Drake

The One Word I Would Proclaim
If I had one word to say,
And no other I could give away.
The one Word I would proclaim,
Would be Jesus’ name.
There is no other word that can cause such a stir.
At the name of Jesus many things occur.
“Jesus’ …in worship causes the angels to sing.
“Jesus” in petition encompasses everything.
“Jesus” in testimony can draw to or push away.
At the name of Jesus eternal boundary lines are made.
“Jesus,” called in terror or in emergency;
Alarms and calls forth forces in the heavenly.
Jesus is the answer to every seeking heart.
Jesus is the one Word for new-life to start.
If there was opportunity to say another word or two,
I would say “Jesus I love You.”
Jesus said He takes me to His Father and He never leaves my side.
His name is holy to His waiting bride.
Jesus… name above all names,
No other thing is higher …..The Word proclaims.
Jesus died for me and calls me by name too.
I walk in the knowledge of His love that forever carries me through
Matthew 10:32
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before
my Father which is in heaven.
Heavenly Father’s Delight By Brenda Drake

I wasted many years worrying over how God thought I was doing; I expected a hard hand of correction to fall at any time. The closer we get to Jesus and the more we consume the Word of God we get a glimpse of the magnitude of love Heavenly Father has for us. While we were yet sinners He loved us so much He sent Jesus to pay our debt of sin so we could be able to choose to love Him back. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice in our behalf we now are a delight and a treasure to our Heavenly Father.
Heavenly Father’s Delight
Heavenly Father delights in His child, a joy in His gaze;
At his accomplishments He lavishes praise.
His hand is always ready to assist;
Never for His child will He His love resist.
When we learn to speak like Jesus, His heart is glorified.
When the enemy strikes, His anger is alive.
His eyes always see ahead, He is never at loss.
Jesus provided everything for us at the cross.
Those that walk with confidence and entrust their life,
Truly brings our Father in heaven great delight.
As we fully believe what the Word has said,
We find sweet peace and joy as by the Spirit we are led.
The Father is delighted by faith He pours into our lives even more,
So we can bring more children to be the delight of the Lord
Exodus 19:5
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
He Did it All for You By Brenda Drake

There is no greater feeling than the moment we truly realize Jesus suffered and died for us. The wages of sin is death; He paid the debt we could never pay. Because He lives we are able to live a life set free from sin and forever blessed. The truth is; He did it all for you!
He Did it All for You
Mary poured her life’s earnings on Jesus head,
An unknown man prepared a place at the Master’s request.
Judas made the decision to plan,
The betrayal of the Son of man.
The disciples listened but did not hear,
They followed but soon ran away in fear.
Jesus prayed in the garden; by himself set aside,
He wept with great agony inside.
Peter along with his friends,
Slept and could not keep watch with Him
Judas arrived with a great crowd of men,
With the sign of a kiss he directed them.
Like a pure innocent lamb,
They angrily delivered the Son of man;
Into a biased court to be crucified;
Jesus God’s Son for each of them would die.
Peter was reminded of the Master’s prediction,
That he would deny Him with great conviction.
The world about us is doing the same things,
Some serve, some deny, and some betray the King.
But the truth is Jesus loved us all so much,
He died and rose again to administer His touch.
His touch forgives and makes new,
All that hear and believe; He did it all for you.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Have Trust By Brenda Drake

There are times when it seems the world is upside down and backwards. We are brought to the place of decision to trust God or to panic and continue to fear and doubt. The Word of God has recorded many assurances God is faithful and true. The Holy Spirit brings wisdom, strength and comfort to our heart, soul and mind. We are able to trust God in every circumstance we encounter.
Have Trust
Depend on me little friend.
Rest on me – I will help you comprehend.
My ways are many times unrecognized;
You must see through spiritual eyes.
I give you perfect peace;
My wonders will never cease.
Practice trust and good will come;
Pray God’s will on earth is done.
Plan to serve me in all you attempt,
And your time will be well spent.
I love mankind so much;
My heart’s cry is to the world touch.
With all your heart praise Jesus and His name confess.
Your future is secure and well blessed.
Do not worry and do not fear,
For your Lord is to you very near.
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Psalms 4:8
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
