Dinner is Served By Brenda Drake

The Word of God is like a banquet table set before us.  There is so much for us to learn. The more we consume, the more we learn the ways and the desires of Jesus; the lover of our soul; and the One who soon returns for His bride

Dinner is Served

Join Me for dinner, come taste and see,
The wonderful banquet prepared for thee.
The table is set, you have a place reserved.
But until the main course is served,
Have an appetizer or two,
They also have been prepared for you.
Just as a wedding has a dress rehearsal set aside,
Where there is extra care to prepare the bride.
Just so are the days before Christ return comes,
Prepare yourself; get ready to meet God’s Son.
Keep your eyes open and ears tuned for His sound.
Make sure your lamp is tended and you walk on solid ground.
Let go of worry, fear, and such things,
Get your mind, heart, and soul prepared to meet the King.
Allow your heart songs to flood the land;
And before you know it, before God you will stand.
Beautifully dressed in righteous white;
A dazzling, lovely bride for Christ.
Your heart seeks to understand all that I say in this rhyme,
But the only real thing you need to know; give thanks when you are Mine;
And rejoice you are full and filled with the nourishment prepared.
And remember you need to be faithful to with others the Good News share.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God.

Jeremiah 15:16
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:
for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.

Hope Seeks and Faith Speaks By Brenda Drake

           To me hope and faith go together almost like peanut butter and jelly. They do go hand in hand for we need hope and we need faith; together they are unbeatable.

Hope Seeks and Faith Speaks

Hope seeks and faith speaks,
What faith claims, still hope seeks,
Hope is timid, faith is bold;
Hope is like silver faith is like gold.
Hope makes its plea, and faith reaches to receive.
Hope may rest while faith watches to collect what they believe.
Hope is good all must hold on it tight.
Faith is great and is seen favorably in God’s sight.
Hope hopes for the future and faith plans for the best,
Have faith in Jesus and in Him rest.
Hope is warm and fuzzy; faith is red, hot, and strong.
Hope hums the tune while faith belts out in victory song.
Hope seeks and faith speaks out loud and clear,
Hope searches for peace but faith draws peace near.
Hope and peace are partners they walk hand in hand,
When times are tough, hope is restored when faith makes a stand.
Faith speaks in Love’s language, it speaks God’s Word.
Faith wears God’s armor and will not be deterred.
Come and place your trust in the hope that brings new life.
Have faith in the saving message of Jesus the Christ.

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Romans 5:1-2
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Ready at all Times By Brenda Drake

I am so thankful someone took time to pray for me, and for every time someone took time to tell my about Jesus.  Every time we speak truth it is like a seed that grows. I have no idea how many times different people took time to pray for me or how long it took for me to come to my senses but there was a perfect time when I heard and understood the condition of my soul and grasped unto the wonderful Good News of what Jesus did for me on the cross.  It was a divine appointment; I became His, forgiven and made new.  Now it is my mission to be ready when it is time for another to hear the Salvation story.

Ready At All Times

Be ready at all times to spread the Good News of Christ,
For there is an appointed time to enrich another’s life.
With a heart filled with truth another’s life without plan,
Or effort, at the time right is touched on demand.
Be ready when the sun shines and in the rain;
Be ready in times of joy or in time of pain.
Be ready when fully awake and when weary and weak.
The obedient, grateful heart is always willing to the truth speak.
In the time of trouble amongst hard regulated days.
The heart loving sounds of Salvation sings whispered praise,
Be ready early in the day and late at night,
The truly worshipful heart in God delights.
The young need to hear it and the old just the same;
Do not hesitate at any time to lift up Jesus’ name.
The rich need to hear it as do the poor;
Every man, woman, and child needs the Lord.
At every birth or death celebration, every other occasion too,
Be obedient; ready to take advantage of the opportunity given you.

1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

The One Called Mother By Brenda Drake

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mother’s out there.  You may be just starting on your journey of motherhood or you may have new names as well such as grandma, or great- grandmother.  This is your day to shine, I pray you feel the great respect and honor and love you deserve.

The One Called Mother

The common gifts on Mother’s Day people do,
Dinner, flowers, and a nice card perhaps too.
A years-worth of love packed into one day;
Attempting to express what their heart desires to say.
All mothers are different and yet all the same;
A certain pride comes at the mention of their child’s name;
Good mothers know children are God’s gift that arrives.
With responsibility and with many joys and pride.
Genuine respect and appreciation from a daughter or son;
Acknowledges their efforts and says, “Job well done.”
God’s gift is the comfort of a mother’s touch;
Along with determination that refuses to give up.
Mother’s have the heart of a lioness or a she-bear;
When all else fails usually she is still there.
So take time to tell her in words more than gifts bestowed,
Her value in your eyes is more precious than gold.

Exodus 20:12
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Treasure Hunter By Brenda Drake

a focus on ephesians 2 v8

            We spend our lives gathering treasures that pleasured us at one time but later we dispose of them without a backward glance.  Anything to do with God and His Word is kept safe within and is a pleasure and a treasure that lasts forever.

Treasure Hunter

Treasure hunters and pleasure hunters both sound the same.
But one can fade away while one remains.
Treasures are kept safe, valued high within.
Pleasures are easily spent many times in sin.
Treasures weigh heavy, and pleasures are like air,
What was pleasing before you may find is no longer there.
Be a treasure-hunter, search and you will find,
Deep, moving heart-healing pleasure left for you at times.
God’s Word is a treasure-to-pleasure that will forever stay;
It is God’s gift; He planned it that way.
Delve in the Scriptures see God’s love for man.
Dig deep and God’s pleasure will bless your land.
God’s treasure-hunters find what others refuse to see,
But they will be sure to share their discoveries.
Have fun in your diggings I am at your side.
I love to share the joys of Salvation with My bride.
Come let us go again to the writings of long ago,
That will be a lasting forever-treasure that pleasures the soul.

Matthew 6:19-21
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Psalms 16:11
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy;
at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Dancing on the Wings of the Wind By Brenda Drake

            How can we describe the supernatural love connection between God and His redeemed? I am not sure, but I will spend the rest of my life trying.  His presence is so precious each time it is experienced, it is never the same and yet it is always the same; pure, lovely, and fully satisfying.

Dancing on the Wings of the Wind

Dancing on the wings of the wind joyfully in song,
Fluidly in tune with Him right where I belong.
Closer than a heart-beat, closer than a breath;
In, over, and under me, behind and ahead,
The sounds of love and life fills the atmosphere,
Not one tainted thought not of light is near.
Holy, precious, and loving in every way,
With a forever-future with Jesus; His and His to stay.
Jesus is in my heart and surrounds me, this I surely know;
Each day is a new day I start new on earth below.
But when dark winds blow I by faith need to see,
God’s plan ahead ordained for me.
His Word promises me sunshine with joy left untold;
When we walk together on the streets of gold.
His promised treasures and the pleasures are sure to come.
I pray in Jesus name God’s will on earth be done.
Today is a new day I in faith take each step,
Toward the joys of the new world He has planned for me ahead.

Song of Songs 7:10
I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.

As Close as a Breath by Brenda Drake

            God is everywhere and is barred from nowhere.  But He is a gentleman and will not force His love upon us. However He is constant in His pursuit to woo us to see and to hear the truth that sets us free to become a part of His kingdom forever.

As Close as a Breath

There are some truths that are difficult to see,
Until they are revealed to thee.
The world’s eyes are open to things upside down,
They run toward tomorrow on uneven ground.
Jesus is the Truth and He is the Way.
He is the Light that proves He is the Word portrayed.
Even one with no eyes can see the way,
For they can see the way by faith.
Those who walk on life’s path,
Can follow Jesus but not know exactly where they are at,
And yet they will arrive right on time.
In the right place as God designed.
The one deaf can still hear God speak,
In the stillness; God communicates with hearts that seek.
When hearts are opened to truth the once dead are alive.
The realness of God’s presence enters inside.
He is as close as a breath,
He is the door to true life at death.
Breathe in God’s presence and when you do,
Breathe out in Jesus name all the promises the Word says is true.

Job 33:4
The Spirit of God hath made me,
and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

2 Thessalonians 3:5
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God,
and into the patient waiting for Christ.

Whispers of Assurance By Brenda Drake

            How can we, successfully describe God’s loving touch?  I believe His creation will spend eternity trying. All I know is I hunger for His touch, and each encounter is so precious I am never satisfied with my portrayal of our holy communion.

Whispers of Assurance

Whispers in my heart sometimes,
Fill to overflow impressions in my mind;
Sweet truths of Salvation and about life.
All of them assure of the love of Christ.
Sweet whispers of affection, kind, loving-words are shared.
I hunger for the place of worship; I rush to meet Him there.
Lyrics of love are as soft sounding as a velvety stream flowing by.
A holy meeting place where it is just Him and I.
Whispers of assurance of His loving care;
Abundant in promised blessings to be shared.
In this place of hearing I perceive His yearning desire,
For an even – closer encounter to draw closer to His fire.
Sweet, soft touches like a feather in the wind.
That feels like the flutter of butterfly wings within.
Soft whispered endearment between lovers of the forever kind;
Declaring eternal devotions – I am His and He is mine.

Jeremiah 31:3
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying,
Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:
therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Do You Remember When? By Brenda Drake

            I marvel at the changes that have taken place in our lifetime; not all are good. But one day we will see a change where all is good.  I look forward to the day when Jesus sets up His kingdom on earth.  We will indeed be in an even better place than even our best past good memories.

Do You Remember When?

Do you remember when children would play,
In the street at night as well as in day?|
When the neighbor was friendly even if not a friend?
And when the flag was saluted with pride deep within?
Do you remember when love was more than a word?
When it was felt more than its name was heard?
Do you remember when food was mostly prepared,
At home by loving hands when shared?
When books and magazines were displayed by the door;
To browse without fear of polluting a child’s mind or yours?
Remember when you could playfully bribe your child with a dime;
And when you had more control of your time?
When games were played by the old and the young?
When families and friends gathered to have some fun?
Do you remember reading a good book not wanting it to rest?
Do you fondly recall the many times your life was blessed?
Times have change it seems to a much too fast paced life,
Where quiet peaceful times are at times sacrificed.
In the troubled world where stress is known to overtake,
There is available a peaceful, resting place.
Where you actually the Father’s embrace know;
Fully convinced He is still in control.
The place where you are able to lay every burden down,
And where good things are restored and new memories are found.
In this place you meet with the One that loves man so much,
He died to set them free so He could our lives touch.
In Kingdom-land there is much promise of better days to come,
Where past memories dim in comparison.
Our “remember when’s” are changed to anticipation of what’s ahead.
Oh great day, with God’s promises we have nothing to dread.

Colossians 3:1-2
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

More Than Enough By Brenda Drake

More Than Enough The stories in the Bible are read but not always taken in, But if they seek it will speak to them. The great crowd had a few fish and loaves of bread; Their little seemed useless but when the disciples did as Jesus said, Their little more than enough became. Circumstances were overpowered when the Word of increase came. The little you have to share if need be, When the Word arrives even more visits thee. Lord, all I am and all I have is Yours in fact; With You on my side what do I lack Lord I ask? This is answer-right to the question in your ear. Your little will be enough so others lack disappears. The story of the woman that would seek crumbs, To receive the good deed she needed done. She believed the source was greater than her need, So content on the crumbs she would feed. What about you?  Is your heart able to see, Your lack is not more than I am able to provide for thee? When you ask do you believe it will be done? Or are you uncertain the answer comes? The story of the blind men that all received sight, Who all jumped in joy and great delight, All rushed off to places they desired to be, But one came back to praise the One that set them free. When you were unable to behold the Light, And the truth was far from your sight? When you were healed did you go your way? Or did you choose to at His feet stay? What about now? Now and then, Do you return to thank God again? There are so many lessons in the Word when applied to your life, Your walk is all you desire it to be, more than enough as you glorify Christ. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
