Father… The Role Model By Brenda Drake

Father… The Role Model By Brenda Drake

To the little girl daddy is her protector; no one stands quite as tall as he.
To the young man he a role model to follow; what he one day wants to be.
His dad is his hero in every way,
He notes everything he does and everything he says.
The wise father will instill in his children’s lives,
They must follow him only as he follows Christ.
Jesus was the perfect image of His Father above.
He lived and died to show His Father’s love.
His words were life; they still show His Father’s will.
Earthly fathers have the opportunity to speak His Word still.
Little girls will one day seek to find a loving place,
For her own children to also feel special and safe.
Dads are special, with great responsibility for you see,
With a good role model to follow little boys become the one
They want their little girl to meet.

John 12:26
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be:
if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

A Father’s Heart By Brenda Drake

            Happy Father’s Day!  I think it is a wonderful thing to honor all daddies’ out there.  It is wise to take time to understand how much he has done to try to make our life better.

A Father’s Heart

A father yearns to express love for daughter or son.
But sometimes when the day is done,
He wonders did he get his message through,
Even though he did all he could do?
To communicate his good intentions he tried.
His words he meant to encourage and edify.
Oh how he desires to take away unneeded pain.
He would fight to break their child’s every chain.
Fathers’ hearts are softer than you at first can see.
But this is just as our Father in heaven planned it to be.
For He too loves His children so, so much;
Always He strives to show us His love.
His Word is designed to His intentions share.
He sent Jesus, His Son to show just how much He cares.
The Father’s heart was pained when His only Son,
Died to save the lost …each and every one.
Jesus took upon Himself our every sin and pain,
He died and rose again to break our every chain.
He is the One that till this day will our battle fight.
Our heavenly Father’s heart is filled with love; in the redeemed He delights.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Vessel By Brenda Drake

Life is a precious gift.  We are each known to God; the Word says He knew us in our mother’s womb.  When we are born-again Jesus is in our hearts and we are one with the heart of God.  We are a vessel that now causes the Father great delight.

The Vessel

The Creator beheld the lump of clay but saw the vessel within.
t wasn’t just any vessel; it was to be made for Him.
Before it was He knew exactly how it would be;
He already had a plan that only He could see.
In fact He saw it even before it was the lump of clay;
For the idea was always in His heart tucked away.
The vessel became tarnished and was taken from His grasp;
But the One that created all things paid the price He asked.
The vessel is made new and formed from within.
The born-again soul is molded and shaped by Him.
Oh what a beautiful creation made new because of Christ.
Jesus is the One that offered for man His own life.
When man allows God full control,
He is made into a precious vessel,
That will carry the Word of God for another to hear;
That offers to His God all that is to him most dear.
This is the individual chosen to hold Heaven’s Wine.
This is the one that the Creator designed.
Beautiful, precious, valued so high the Angels strain to see,
All that the Creator plans to pour through those He has set free.
Great things are destined for every newborn life;
For they become the vessel that causes to the Father great delight!

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

The Voice of God By Brenda Drake

John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

            There are many voices in the world.  The hard condemning voice that reminds you of all your
faults and sins, and tells of God’s displeasure with you, is not the voice of God. There is no sound sweeter than the voice of our loving God.  I hunger to hear His voice.  I love His Word.  He speaks loving sounds in my heart each day. His voice sounds like the Word of God.

The Voice of God

Precious are those that hear God’s voice of correction.
So valued are the words; you will not forget them.
The wise know the difference between the Spirit and the one who condemns.
One tears down hope, the other builds up strong again.
Evil’s drip, drip, drip causes inner irritation;
God gently prods into repentance; drawing to the One that died to save them.
The harsh voice that grates and causes fraction,
It is only quieted by a faith’s calm and peaceful reaction.
Oh listening-ear; receive what the Spirit speaks today;
Handle your reactions with God’s ability when you pray.
With His strength you silence the enemy that causes division;
To listen for God’s voice, and to abide in Him, it is your decision.

Prayer
Lord, help me always to measure the words I hear with the Word of God.  I know You are continuously on my side, and are willing and ready to forgive me always.  Help me to stay calm and sure of Your love, Chase away the anxiety and fear when the hard words of the world begin to sound loud in my life.

The Hollow Place Is Filled By Brenda Drake

            We do not know just how empty we were until we feel how fulfilled we are after salvation.  We do not realize how dull the colors of life were until we experience the beauty of new life in Christ. It has been many years since I made the decision to ask Jesus to be the Lord of my life; but salvation’s beautiful gift still warms my being each day.

The Hollow Place Is Filled

In the hollow-sounding place where heart-questions rest,
Where unspeakable sins are silently confessed;
The aching, seeking soul is stripped bare and unadorned,
And every excuse remains within unformed.
The once blinded eyes are able to see,
 The wretched condition of their great need.
In utter desperation as in repentance they reach to God above.
The light of the truth is delivered by His love.
Great celebration – greatly full and filled,
With new-birth in the favor of the Father’s will.
New, reborn…every fiber of being restored,
By the wonderful work of Jesus Christ, the Lord.
Sweet, holy words of love come from the once barren land;|
Alive and fully dressed in righteous robe as the Father planned.
The faith-filled eyes have new vision…joy and peace is ahead.
Hungry hearts thirst for the Word: as for Jesus, the Word they live.
Joyous, holy, harvest comes from the life made new and whole;
For in the once empty, hollow-place God lives and overflows.

Psalms 32:5
I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

2 Chronicles 7:14

         If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I Will Climb Over Every Molehill By Brenda Drake

       I tend to cower at some of life’s situations.  I am amazed at some of the wonderful outcomes of situations that seemed impossible to me.  I know it is God’s provisions, strength, and ability that turn my mountains into molehills.

I Will Climb Over Every Molehill

The mountain turns a molehill before me.
When through God’s eyes I see.
What bars the way or my progress slows,
Cannot or will not hinder under His control.
My lack of resources proves when progress comes,
It is a work of divine-direction when all is done.
Mountains are moved out of my way,
So on God’s intended path I am able to stay.
When I waiver at the lack I see within,
Unsure and weak and do not know where to begin,
I remember the many times in the past;
When my Lord provided all I needed; then faith is back.
From His viewpoint I see clearly again,
Life’s hard mountain-climbs are not too difficult for Him.
With my heart at rest in His strength I the victory claim.
I will climb over every molehill in Jesus’ name.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand
of my righteousness.

King of My Mountain By Brenda Drake

Do you remember when young playing the rough and tough game King of the Mountain? I was King but it was not a very long reign!  I was overthrown pretty quickly. This poem states the mountain is my life willingly ruled by King Jesus the Lover of my soul.

King of My Mountain

You are the King of my mountain and in my heart too.
I bow low within and live by Your rules.
I am subject to Your desires for me, for it is for my good.
Because of Your presence my desire is to do as I should.
My days are numbered when times will change;
Where my living-arrangements are rearranged.
I move from this life to a life with Christ Jesus my King,
In this place of forever where my heart will forever sing.
Until then, my Lord we will together play life’s game:
King of my mountain there You will remain.
With Your help we will conquer every foe we face.
With Your Word all fear and doubt is erased.
With You high and lifted up what have I to fear?
You are more than enough, for You see far and near.
Every day is a new day to together life do.
Jesus, King of the mountain all praise, honor, and glory belongs to You.

Revelation 19:16
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Philippians 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Desperate No More By Brenda Drake

            I clearly remember trying so hard to be good.  I tried and tried but never felt like I had my mission accomplished.  The day I confessed my sin and asked Jesus to forgive and become Lord of my life was the day I knew I needed Him to be good.  My desperate search was over; Jesus was the answer my hungry heart strived to find.  In a moment He made me clean, reborn, whole, and new.

Desperate No More

Desperate soul – desperate no more;|
What was an empty place is now filled with the Lord.
Seeking, reaching; hearts for answers search,
Striving for assurance in their good works.
Trying and failing to the right way go;
But in an instant the truth is known.
The gentle help of Holy Spirit the heart prepares,
To hear and recognize the truth when shared.
In an instant the miracle takes place;
The desperate, lost soul is saved by grace.
Not one good reason is such a gift bestowed,
Other than God’s desire to draw into His fold.
The lost is found, darkness is invaded by the Light;
The once blind is given sight.
The diseased and poor is now richly made whole.
The outcast is brought into God’s eternal fold.
Rich in God’s favor and flavored with His love,
You are marked as precious property of God above.
Now dressed in robes of righteousness and peace;
Given a new heart to cause the Kingdom increase.
Desperate no more, faith in the Word is planted in.
As His bride the hope of Jesus’ return now rules within.

Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Filtered Thoughts By Brenda Drake

The Word of God, prayer, praise, and a heart that is willing to give thanks in every situation keep our thoughts and our words sweet.  When we begin to be discouraged and our attitude begins to stink so do our words and our thoughts.  God is so good He is always there to help us sing the sweet songs of praise again.

Filtered Thoughts

When the mind runs and races even when at rest.
It takes you into places that are not always best.
It takes practice, and it takes time,
Determination, and dedication to harness the run-away-mind.
To measure what you need to think;
Weight carefully what is sweet and what stinks.
The mind filtered by the Word will see,
There is a greater span of peace.
Do your thoughts cause you pain or stress?
Then filter them with God’s Word to be blessed.
Are you sinking into depression’s grasp?
Then quickly do as God’s Word asks.
Turn to the One that will lift you high,
Repent and your sin do not deny.
Filtered thoughts take the contamination away;
So only God’s Word is allowed to stay.
Pray in the name of Jesus the name above all names.
And God’s promised future claim.
With your mind on God, evil thoughts depart.
It is gift from Jesus who now dwells in your heart.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ

Love Paints a Picture By Brenda Drake

I used to paint pictures with oil, and acrylics.  Then one fine day the Lord gave me my first poem in a dream.  The joy of painting was overshadowed with the new gift bestowed upon me.  Now I paint with words of rhyme that agree with the Scriptures. With His help they will reach the lost.  With His leading they paint a picture of truth; the way of Salvation.

Love Paints a Picture

Sit quietly in prayer ready to hear love’s call,
Be still and know God and at His feet fall.
Love paints a picture, its lines are clear.
In fact, love paints a picture in words to hear.
Divine touches of flavor to tantalize your taste,
With the sweet-nectar of His amazing grace.
Love traveled from eternity into time.
Love became the created so you could the truth find.
Love spoke salvation into man from the start.
And love prepared a place to dwell in man’s heart.
Love paved a path that proved He is the Way.
Love makes sure His light is available in each day.
This is the day of Salvation for everyone that will receive.
He is the Word of Salvation; He supplies all you need.
Jesus is the Savior that shows love in each breath.
He is Love-sacrificed for you in His death.
He is love that conquered and rose from the grave,
He is life-eternal to all that are saved.
Love paints a picture for all who will hear,
Even in a word of rhyme Love’s call draws near.

Jeremiah 31:3
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:
therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

1 John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth
in God, and God in him.
