Silently Before Him By Brenda Drake

God is as close as a prayer; even closer than this.  We are immediately in His presence.  I love to sit silently at His feet with full knowledge He hears my innermost thoughts. I am very aware of the honor of such liberty.  His love invites me in at any part of the day; whether I am in a melancholy mood or exuberantly talkative.  He likes our company.

Silently Before Him

As I sit silently before my Lord, as I reverently look to Him;
His awesome majesty settles in.
The air smells sweeter and life becomes,
A precious gift that has come,
It is a privilege given to me;
I can in His presence be.
What an honor He bestows,
He looks favorably upon my soul.
Oh songs of praise I desire to sing,
To honor and give glory to Christ my King.
New words need to be created to express the love within;
For it is new every day; eternal, and never ends.
It is as astounding as forever – as I silently rest at His feet,
The love He showers down is inexpressibly sweet.
His smile upon me is like a refreshing drink of holiness,
When I come before Him I feel Heaven’s kiss.

Psalms 63:3
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

The Book in the Box by Brenda Drake

I woke up this morning with the words the book in the box.  My Lord reminded me of a long ago memory tucked away in my heart. How I love my Lord and i am very thankful I found the truth that set my soul free.

The Book in the Box

Perhaps you remember seeing as a child the book in the box;
Some even had on the front a little lock.
The box was pretty and a little out of reach on the shelf,
But one day you figured out,
How it opened up to behold,
The pretty black book with edges of gold.
It looked very new even though,
It was probably quite old.
It when opened had few pictures inside,
Little did you know the precious message unread inside.
The words were many but seemed strange at the time;
Some were written in red with a few underlined.

The book in the box is all I knew it to be,
Until one day my eyes were opened to see.
It wasn’t just the box that drew me to the shelf that day,
It was Father God leading me to the Way.
The words within the pages I devoured,
But I found the words written in red to me held special power.
Oh how I love the book that lies out of the box now.
I can hardly wait to before the author of it all in thanks and praise bow

2 Peter 1:12
Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

For the Benefit of the Soul By Brenda Drake

For the Benefit of the Soul

For the benefit of the soul there are things wise to do,
Things not only beneficial within but for those around you too.
Time spent in the Word makes you strong within;
But it’s also a strength that you can bestow on foe or friend.
Time spent in praise will the spirit lift;
Joy unspeakable and full of glory will be the benefit.
Time spent in prayer will move the enemy lines back;
Time spent in laughter with a heart merry cause great increase too;
For in times of enjoyment there resides peace in you.
Time spent loving and forgiving one another,
Will cause life … hurting souls recover.
For the souls benefit, plant good uplifting words to the waiting ear.
Souls are built up strong when there is a good-word to hear.
Time spent in worship and in songs sweet,
Causes benefit for you are strengthened by the One that causes great increase.

Proverbs 1:5
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

The Divine Guide By Brenda Drake

What a wonderful display of love is shown to us in the plan of Salvation. We are blessed with the gift of life and the greater gift of eternal life with God because of the great sacrifice of our Lord Jesus.  Jesus then sent us Holy Spirit to lead, guide, teach, and comfort us till we get there or until He returns for us.

The Divine Guide

In the womb formed,
Before the day you were born,
You were known and seen clear,
Well-loved and held most dear.
Before the world began you were on God’s mind.
So precious is His love and so great is His design.
His plan was to draw you close and make you His bride.
Jesus knew He would for your sins die.
His love calls to Him,
To save from the grasp of sin.
His everlasting love leads and guides the way.
His Spirit teaches to obey.
He is Divine guide, Teacher, Comforter and friend,
He is the Good Shepherd that leads you from within.
The guide of the soul leads to the cross of shame,
To show the “Way“….Jesus is His name.
He saves, restores, and makes new inside.
He will never leave you as within He abides.
As you seek first His kingdom and trust His work in you,
You will abide in Him and will bear His fruit.
His fruit are sweet and causes pleasure to the soul;
Full of healthy results that prove God is in control.

1John 4:9
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Little Flower Tucked Away By Brenda Drake

Little Flower Tucked Away

The little flower very fragile on the vine,
Can easily be ripped off in windy times.
It may become slightly tattered in the hard rain,
But it hangs on the same..
It may not inspire with its beauty; in fact most do not see,
What it offers to world as its goodness to receive.
But along comes a small child;
The small tattered flower causes him to smile.
Little hands reach out and carefully grasp the bloom in his fist,
To take to his mother his precious gift.
To him it is a great treasure,
That has caused to him great pleasure.
Mom takes it and places in a little glass or vase,
And enjoys the delight in her child’s face.
The little flower is later secretly pressed in a book to keep;
A keepsake to remember her child’s offering so sweet.
Now this story is true time and time again;
The tiny bloom probably could have been torn away by the wind,
Never to be seen or remembered except by God above.
But now it’s encased and preserved as a testament of love.

Your existence sometimes seems invaluable too;
But your life touches so many about you.
One day as the small bud revealed; kept safe tucked away,
Your life’s bloom too will be on display.
You will be surprised to see and hear,
The bits of memories others have kept to them most dear.
You will see evidence of the pleasure you brought by your love.
You then will gladly give all the praise to your Lord above!

Psalms 37:18
The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

He is Beautiful By Brenda Drake

He is Beautiful

In this world there are many things for the eyes to see,
The colors are lovely displayed endlessly;
The sky is blue some would say,
But I’ve seen countless color-combinations on display.
The mountains can tinted green, brown or white,
Or blue, pink or purple to cause watching eyes delight.
Water seems at times blue, brown and green too,
The shades of trees, grasses and flowers amaze you.
But when a glimpse comes to reveal,
The Treasure of Heaven and His touch you feel;
There is nothing that can compare.
All life’s treasures are found there.
Jesus is beautiful, so beautiful; in wonder we become aware,
That so great and so amazing is the gift He shares.
His love gave His life to give life to the lost.
He suffered to pay our debt of sin on the cross.
He is beautiful, so beautiful is all my heart can say.
All I am and ever will be is invested in His name.
I am free to live with eyes able now to behold,
All the beauty that this life can hold.
And I am able to recognize the One who lit the way for me
So His beauty is evident in all that I see.

John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
