The Safe Place By Brenda Drake

            I rarely felt secure as a child.  And I never felt sheltered as a young adult.  I almost always feel protected as a Christ follower.  In troubled times I remember who dwells in me and watches over me.  Jesus is my protector, my Savior and my closest friend.  I run to Him like baby chicks run to safety under their mother’s wing.

The Safe Place

There is a wonderful place,
Where you are completely safe.
In the world you may wonder and ask,
Is there truly a place we can go without lack?
Safe from the death sentence that destroys heart, body and soul?
Safe from evil that desires take control?
Safe from a life forever tainted and stained?
Safe from burden’s terrible heavy chains?
Is there a place where the angels sing?
Where in loving care there waits a loving King?
Where the sun shines and there is no worry lines on the face?
Where every sin and shame is forever erased?
Yes it is real and true.
There is such a place ahead for you.
In this place the air is clean with not a threat in sight.
In this place there is no darkness only light;
Safe from the sin and heartache of the worldly atmosphere.
However, in the care of Jesus your safe place is now right here.
Remember now your safe place is in Christ.
He is the shelter you can claim for each day of your life.

Psalms 15:8-9
I have set the Lord always before me:
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth:
my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good
work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

All are Known but Not All Know By Brenda Drake

I remember wondering as a small child does God know me?  If He was real I wondered why He would not speak to me?  Now I know, not only did God know me, He knew me in my mother’s womb.  Not only does He hear me He speaks to me in countless ways.  He loves every person born and not yet born.  Jesus died to pay the debt of sin so we could partake in the holy, eternal future planned for His creation to live in His presence.

All are Known but Not All Know

The lonely soul forlornly sitting in a chair,
Wondering if there is anyone aware and cares,
The mother struggling to raise their youngsters right,
With fading strength in a never-ending fight.
The young man or woman that feels only dread,
When they plan for the future they see ahead.
The war-torn survivor of sickness or shame,
And those that have little of value; except their good name.
The loving soul that loves to love,
That has not yet found the truth to the way above.
The proud or obnoxious one that blows like the wind,
That pushes and shoves affection away him.
The widow who cries herself to sleep,
The strong self-sufficient one that refuses to weep,
The Ones slammed by disaster knocking at the door.
And those who are like a storm that does not care anymore.
The one that speaks loud things,
That sputters and dishonors everyone and everything.
Those with hearts repented with eyes opened wide;
That allows God’s wisdom and strength inside.
For all that walk, talk, live, think, or feel;
There is One who died on a cross and rose again desires to their heart heal
All are known and loved and cared for.
But not all know or feel the love of Jesus Christ the Lord.

Psalms 147:5
Great is our Lord, and of great power:
his understanding is infinite.

Psalms 139:1-6
O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down,
and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue,
but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before,
and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Silently Before Him By Brenda Drake

            God is as close as a prayer; even closer than this.  We are immediately in His presence.  I love to sit silently at His feet with full knowledge He hears my innermost thoughts. I am very aware of the honor of such liberty.  His love invites me in at any part of the day; whether I am in a melancholy mood or exuberantly talkative.  He likes our company.

Silently Before Him

As I sit silently before my Lord, as I reverently look to Him;
His awesome majesty settles in.
The air smells sweeter and life becomes,
A precious gift that has come,
It is a privilege given to me;
I can in His presence be.
What an honor He bestows,
He looks favorably upon my soul.
What songs of praise I desire to sing,
To honor and give glory to Christ my King.
New words need to be created to express the love within;
For it is new every day; eternal, and never ends.
It is as astounding as forever – as I silently rest at His feet,
The love He showers down is inexpressibly sweet.
His smile upon me is like a refreshing drink of holiness,
When I come before Him I feel Heaven’s kiss.

Psalms 63:3
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

The Gentle Breeze of God’s Care By Brenda Drake

The love of God is everywhere.  There is not one thing that can touch our life that He does not desire to help us through.  His love is constant; all we need to do is to know this is so.  Jesus provided the way for us to have a forever-touch of His presence.

 The Gentle Breeze of God’s Care

The sun rises and sets each day;
Clouds in the sky are on full display,
With colors bright, subtle; angry red to cool blue;
Great is the display of the world of worlds all around you.
From the world of tiny insects, to the hungry lion that prowls;
From the song of the smallest bird; to the loudest growl;
Every thought and every word is known; good and bad the same;
Every high and exulted name that is proclaimed;
Every deed in progress at any time of day,
Does not pass by: not anything is lost to God’s gaze.
All our opinions and theories of wrong and what is right;
Everything is known by Him and is clear in His sight.
The truth is God is I AM.
There is nothing barred from Him in the land.
God chooses His limitations -He is in full control.
There is not anything that He does not know.
He gives us freedom to choose to love God above,
Or, to choose to reject His great love.
The gentle breeze of God’s care,
Is always available, it is continuously there.
He sent Jesus, His Son to die to save us from sin’s grasp.
He planned complete salvation and all He asks,
Is for us to believe and to trust in Him complete;
So we can know how truly beautiful life can be.

Psalms s 93:1
The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

I Climb Prayer’s Mountain By Brenda Drake

  There are times when prayer feels like climbing a mountain. It sometimes takes great effort to lay all the burdens down and reach for the helping hand of the One we know by faith cares after our every need.  Sometimes we are in such a valley we are only able to see by faith the Mountain-Mover who is able to pick us up and carry us up prayer’s hill.  Each day is new opportunity to face the challenge; to climb up the mountain of prayer or to stay in the low place of self-sufficiency.

I Climb Prayer’s Mountain

I climb prayer’s mountain, each day closer to the crest;
Up to heavenly place my hearts rests.
Ever closer to becoming like the One I live for.
I travel up the mountain to my Lord.
Sometimes I am in a valley that is dark and cold;
But when I look up heaven reflects like purest gold.
When I find waters of trouble all around,
If I did not reach to God surely I would in my circumstances drown.
The enemy pursues to distract and discourage so I lose my way;
But when I seek, the path is clearly marked to God’s Word obey.
When the day is over and I lie down to rest I find;
I have flown up the mountain when Jesus is on my mind.

Psalms 123:1
Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Free Falling Faith By Brenda Drake

Psalms 25:8-9
Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way

            Sometimes I have just enough faith to say I have some and at other times I have so much I know it is not me it is God in me that believes enough I receive all God desires for me.  I love the times of free-falling faith that does not and cannot turn back.

Free-falling Faith

Take the leap of faith; you have heard this before.
It sounds dangerous and risky as you propel yourself forward,
It is a decision you make with effort in motion inside;
As your faith rests on providence to be on your side.
But free-falling into the realm of faith is a motion.
That totally believes and counts on God’s full devotion;
You are so a part of the heavenly sphere .
That its gravitational force draws you into faith’s atmosphere.
Over the edge of the natural into God’s supernatural place;
Into the God-ordained, God-supplied grace.
Where nothing is impossible; where the facts do not make sense;
Where it is impossible to walk the fence.
While free-falling into the realm of faith,
There is no turning back, no time to waste.
You experience the thrill of knowing the One that know all things is there,
To catch you up int the arms of faith’s freefalling prayer.
Over the top into the realm to receive,
Whatever it is that you have need.

James 1:6
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Onward Walks the Child of God By Brenda Drake

            My whole attitude and purpose for living has completely changed since I became a follower of Jesus.  Before Jesus I was anxious and fearful of the outcome of my future.  Before Jesus I had a completely different vocabulary; I was frequently upset, worried or afraid so my words were angry, bitter, and at times not very nice.   I now have a heart new and a mind that is more in tune with Jesus, the Word of God who loved me enough to die to save my soul.

Onward Walks the Child of God

Onward on the path of life;
Overcoming evil influences such as worry and strife.
Each day walking forward, leaving the past behind,
Going forth, walking in the tracks the Lord leaves to find.
Shoulders are squared to meet the day without fear of defeat,
With assurance you are equipped to each situation meet.
Praises ring with words of love; not with grumbling lips
Onward walks the child of God that has the goal ahead.
Thankful hearts see the future holds promise for them.
They count on Jesus as their protector and friend.
The redeemed are shining examples for the world to see.
Onward walks the child of God as they live for Me.

Psalms 112:7
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Come Enter In By Brenda Drake

Come Enter In

You are invited to come,
As you are, when you belong to God’s Son.
Come right on into the most holy place,
You are accepted because of the holy work of grace.
Jesus has opened up the way,
To come into His presence when you pray.
The one that loves Him and is by the Spirit led;
Listens with their heart to what Scripture says.
They know it is His goodness in them alive.
His holy work mold and shapes them inside.
They know in their weakness He is shown strong,
And His guidance leads away from wrong.
Come enter into the Holy place.
Turn your heart and mind to seek His face.
Strip from yourself all that takes you off track.
Set your face to His promises …do not look back,
For you are new and set free in every way.
Come enter in to God’s loving embrace;
Love, peace and joy fills your soul,
As you come into His Holy flow.

Psalms 84:4
How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord:
my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

Each Day’s Decision By Brenda Drake

Psalms 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

            There is a battle going on each day.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

Each Day’s Decision

The attack begins at each days start.
It grabs onto my mind and tries to enter my heart.
t comes in different forms but the mission is the same;
But each day my decision remains.
One day perhaps its worry and the struggle begin.
But with diligence and prayer I turn it back to Jesus again.
The world’s circumstances loom and shout out its threats,
But then my heart remembers God is in control yet.
Sickness, heartbreak, and despair come by;
But then I remember The Healer and Helper lives inside.
I am with His strength able to do what is best.
Then if I am wise I will pray and in His presence rest.
Each day my decision is Jesus. He is my choice.
I will read the Word and I will hear His voice.
I am not nearly as strong as I think I am sometimes;
But I am stronger than I think when Jesus is kept in mind.

Hebrews 12:1-2
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Trouble Alights By Brenda Drake

This is a sample of my future daily devotional book His Whispers to the Heart

January 20

Whisper: Why are you so troubled by such small things?

2 Corinthians 1:3
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

 Trouble Alights

The fly on the wall takes flight and lands again;
There is no sacred or forbidden place to him.
He will cause torment to pauper or king the same.
Just at work bugging away like its name.
A different sounding subject for a word of rhyme;
But there’s a message in it designed.
Just like flies trouble and land everywhere,
Cause irritation and sickness with others shared.
In life, troubles also arrive and land;
Making known their demands.
Unexpectedly they light on you and then,
When you think they have left – they return again.
It matters not if you are rich or poor,
It matters not if you are rich or poor,
Trouble lands at life’s door.
But there is One that help you with the pests,
He shoos them away to give you rest.
The One that is in full control,
Destroys those that cause disease to your soul.
Know, troubles are about everywhere,
But you have a God that truly cares.
Let it be made known: when trouble alights,
To God it is just as a fly.
An irritation; that is all.
But with just a breath from Him it falls.

Lord I must remember all the pesky troubles that irritate me are easily taken care of by You.
