Sounds of Light By Brenda Drake

Neon glowing sound wave vibration line, isolated on dark background. Light painting.

            There was no greater sound than the day I saw the light.  As I heard the truth of Jesus’ love my redeemed soul was emerged in new eternal light. Even now as I study God’s Word I am aware Light speaks to my soul new promise each day.

Sounds of Light

Sounds of light enter the darkened place,
Spreading the hope of redemption wrapped in God’s grace.
Truth is sopped like water in thirsty ground;
The light-of-love makes promising sounds.
Sounds of freedom and the joy of new life,
Cause to the heart new delight.
Whispers-of-light lead to the high place of expectation,
And down into the deep place of inner inspection.
Sweet, generous sounds satisfy the hunger inside,
That light the path for the procession of the bride.
Promising sounds of grandor that ahead lay;
Encourage genuine outbursts of praise.
Full in focus on the Words of God’s Son,
Cause heartfelt-trust that God’s will is done.
Worship is the outcome of such loving-sounds of light,
In His presence there is found great delight.
Daily come and be still and know,
God’s light within speaks soft sounds in your soul;
Sounds of assurance, of who you are in Christ;
Anointed now to share with the nations the sounds of light.
An ambassador of light to set captives free,
With the life-giving sound of victory

1 John 1:5
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Psalms 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path.

Wear Your Own Shoes By Brenda Drake

            Have you felt like you are not measuring up to another’s progress in the Lord?  Does it seem they are accomplishing so much more than you are?  Have wondered if you should be more like them?  Our Lord loves us just as we are and He desires us to have our own, personal walk with Him. We need to be patient and learn to enjoy each day we are walking in His steps.

Wear Your Own Shoes

Wear you own shoes, they are just your size.
Another’s step may look good but there would be a surprise.
They are wearing their own shoes and must not your shoes take;
No one else can or should try to take your place.
Every child of God has their own destiny to fill.
Every individual can find and walk in the Father’s will.
A personal walk with the One who personally died in your place;
The One that at the very end will pull you into His embrace.
Even though I desire for you to wear your own shoes,
I also desire for you to learn from others as they learn to My too.
Heed the warnings, watch for the signs shown,
Study the Scriptures and form the truth in words your own.
Some try to emulate and imitate the steps others go,
But look and follow Jesus to go the way He shows.
With your own words of praise, as you sing your own tune,
You have your own special aroma that fills heaven’s rooms.
Again I tell you, wear you own shoes that fits perfectly as you grow.
I will use you just as you are to bring the truth to help many souls.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Born Anew; A New Creature By Brenda Drake

            I remember the day when I repented my sins and accepted Jesus as my Savior; Oh the glory that took place.  Although I did not fully understand what the difference was as I read the Word of God I learned the wondrous truth: I was completely a new person.  I not only thought differently; the beauty of God was evident all around me and overflowed in me.  The colors were brighter and my heart felt free to fly!

Born Anew; A New Creature

There is light now in the place
Where once darkness was embraced.
The way right is now a vital part
Of this very made new heart.
Wrong, dark-ways are rejected,
When the one renewed has evil suspected.
So vital is the change in redeemed man,
He is born anew into God’s plan.
His fight against evil is already won;
It has been conquered by the work of Jesus, God’s Son.
Every evil; every sin applied to your name,
Is wiped away, never again to remain.
Your part of the process is as easy as it is hard to do;
You need only to believe what Jesus did for you.
You need to repent and call out fleshly- ways,
And crucify its claim with the Word as you sing God’s praise.
You are a new-creature, one with the One who saved your soul.
You are one with the One-true-God; safely in His hold.
So shine your light bright in the world of sin and shame.
You need to fully rely on Jesus, and pray in His name.
No weapon set against you will prosper; no not one.
Believe and receive all you need and more in the days to come.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Isaiah 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

Feathers Fall from the Caps By Brenda Drake

            I used to be a real people- pleaser, I still enjoy pleasing others but now I know God is the One I need to please.  Pride is a sneaky fellow but when it has been injured it is seen as what it is, self has taken a blow and the only cure is to ask our wonderful Lord to forgive us our sin and to remember to do as unto God and to give Him all the glory.

Feathers Fall from the Caps

Feathers fall from the caps of those who put them there to glorify self.
The winds of life blow them out.
It is a better story told,
When you give God all the glory to hold.
Pride causes a stain to appear,
It is a sinful stain that does not easily disappear.
When you begin to be puffed up remember one thing,
When the air is released it is not a pretty thing.
Allow life to take its steps in God’s time;
When in the Spirit’s flow, with God’s will you are aligned.
He places upon your head the favor that satisfies.
And one day a crown that your life testifies.
Take care when applause comes;
Remember to lift praise to God’s Son.
He is the righteousness within,
He is the finisher of the work He begins.
All glory to Jesus, the One you desire to love, to serve, and adore.
He is the King of kings and the One you are waiting for.
So when a feather falls from your cap do not despair,
God replaces it with a jewel on a heavenly crown when you meet Him there.

Romans 11:36
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Proverbs 11:2
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

2 Timothy 4:8
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Mystery By Brenda Drake

            Great is ways of our God; we are daily shown more and more of the wonder and mystery of a love so great.  Even though I do not completely understand I am learning to lean on the understanding of God and I am learning to walk in faith knowing what the Word says is true.

Mystery

Who knows the mind of God?  Who knows the way of the wind?
Who else is called Master? Only Him.
Wise and joyful are those who know,
By faith who it is that so values the soul.
The wise are diligent to seek His face,
And hungers each day for His embrace.
How is it you love fervently one your do not see?
Indeed it is a mystery.
How is it you hear without a sound;
Words so beautiful and profound?
How do you rest your mind in confidence-deep,
When the world’s way threatens to sweep you off your feet?
How can the blind see and the deaf hear?
How is it they walk in a dark world without fear?
Much is the knowledge man has figured out.
But the evil one has filled the lost with ignorance and doubt.
The found are finding they have only begun.
To learn the realms of the majesty of Father, Spirit, and Son.
To be and to remain in the Spirit’s flow,
Do not lose the wonder and the mystery of the One who died to save your soul.
Be ready and willing to take the steps of each day,
Mysteriously knowing without really knowing Jesus leads your way.

Ephesians 1:8-9
Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

 1Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Turned Away or Asked to Stay By Brenda Drake

I quake with fear when I remember the times I turned off the television when preaching started. I am very thankful the Holy Spirit never stopped wooing me to the cross of repentance.  It was and is the best decision I ever made when I asked Jesus to stay.

Turned Away or Asked to Stay

When the two men were freed and the village learned what was done,
How the demons were expelled and drowned in the pigs, every last one,
I thought there would be a great reception to invite Jesus to stay.
But what a surprise to me when I discovered they sent Him away.
Why would they demand life to depart?
And to refuse the truth to enter their heart?
It makes no sense to me,
It is as the blind that refuses to see.
Go away they said to the Son of Man;
Surely they did not the request fully understand.
But there are many that even today do the same,
They misunderstand who Jesus is and why He came.
When they are confronted by the truth of His power and might;
When they are confronted by the Light,
They too demand Him to depart from their midst.
Some angrily even shake at Him their fist.
It is sad to think of the rejection Jesus endures each day;
It is fortunate He does not always listen and returns in hope
He is invited to stay.

John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Matthew 8:34
And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

Rock Solid Strong By Brenda Drake

Jesus is the reason we are able to live the Word.  He is God’s Word that reigns in our life.  If we rely on His help and His wisdom we are living according to His will. Since all our strength comes from God all the glory goes to Him too. He is the rock and strength in our heart.

Rock and Strength of Our Heart

Strength comes to those that depend,
On Jesus the Rock and trust in Him.
Strength is by God supplied,
Each day a new portion comes from God on high.
Stand strong on God’s Word, it is forever true.
When you stand on the Word, He stands strong in you.
Feed upon Scriptures goodness it is good to taste,
Not one word will fail or cause you disgrace.
Speak the Word; allow the truth to reign strong.
Your heart will burst into praise and worship song.
Walk the Word, the world becomes a better place,
For it is covered with mercy and colored by grace.
Live the Word, in its holy atmosphere,
Jesus the Word in you is very near.
His strength is mighty; one breath of His favor causes increase.
He is Living Water, He is Prince of Peace.
Strength comes by digesting His goodness and living tall without fear.
With the God of Salvation; fear disappears.
He is Rock-solid in His redeemed eternally.
Jesus is indeed all you will ever need.

2 Samuel 22:2-
And he said,The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge,

It is Settled By Brenda Drake

I remember singing a song in Church years ago that stated I have decided to follow Jesus; no turning back.  It was a song of settling.  The decision was made and my face was like flint.  I was not entertaining any other way.  Jesus was my way.  He still is. Now I know He is the Word and I agree with the Word of God.  It is settled I am what it says I am and I can do what it says I can do.

It Is Settled

Settle deep within me the kind of peace,
That causes to Your kingdom increase.
With heart and mind settled upon the Word,
To be at peace even when chaos occurs.
Settle my emotions to reflect faith’s stand,
At watch and waiting for God’s command.
Mark my path with confidence fully assured;
For it is the way safe and secure.
As I rest in Your care,
Give me ability to successfully share,
All you have given me.
Lord set me free from greed.
Not like a basket turned upside down,
But like a light on a hill set on higher ground.
Settle my heart, to be steadfast in life’s winds,
Connected to love filled with Jesus within.
My Lord and Savior and lover of my soul,
Walk with me in and through me in places high and low,
It is now settled; nothing can or will pull me astray,
For You settled it at the cross when my sin-debt was paid.

Psalms 119:88-89
Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.
For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

Butterfly Kisses By Brenda Drake

I loved it when my children gave me butterfly kisses and I know they too enjoyed our loving times of affection.  It thrills me to know our Lord enjoys it just as much when we draw close to Him.

Butterfly Kisses

Little ones like to place,
Their eyes close to their parents face.
They playfully open and shut their eyes,
And call their antics the kisses of butterflies.
Some children like Eskimo kisses too,
To get close they will use any excuse.
Love is precious when it is given free.
Its touch is kept safe inside as beautiful memories.
The One that is Love loves every moment of the day;
He never takes His eyes off of you and listens to all you say.
This One that has chosen you is never tired of your voice;
His love covers and over you rejoice.
Our heavenly Father proved His love as He sent His Son to pay sin’s price.
The Son proved His love by sacrificing for you His life.
The love of the Holy Spirit hovers over you and lives within;
He always is willing to prove His love again and again.
He comforts when you are hurting and guides when you seek,
He gives a flutter in your heart when His Word you believe.
Joy bubbles up within the redeemed soul,
When praise and worship overflows.
Butterfly kisses are also enjoyed by the God that loves you so much.
When you draw close you will also feel Hua touch;

Psalms 25:1
Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.

Beware of Circling Wolves By Brenda Drake

            We are in a real way surrounded with evil.  However God is our protector and empowers us to aggressively; with prayer and the Word of God chase and keep them away. We have the honor and responsibility to help others that are under attack.

Beware of Circling Wolves

Wolves howl and draw close to attack and to kill;
Their empty belly desires to be filled.
They separate the lame and confuse the mind,
So unknowingly they cross into the enemy’s line.
The wolves circle and then rush in at great speed,
To attack and kill to upon them feed.
This story shows just as nature warns.
If not careful the unsuspecting one will be harmed.
The enemy is cunning; demons are everywhere.
The lost and lame about you are in need of your prayers.
When mixed-up, when tired and sick; unable to defend;
They need someone to reach out and in prayer fight for them.
Evil prowls about, seeking to destroy whomever they can;
This is why God needs helping hands.
Go into the byways and share what Jesus did to set them free.
Warn them how evil devours all who will not believe.

John 10:10-11
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
