Love is Still Alive By Brenda Drake

Love is Still Alive

Shoe boxes are passed to the underprivileged on Christmas Day.
Little trinkets and small necessities in it arrayed.
Seemingly a little mundane; but not to them;
They oh and awe at the little treasures packed in.
Most have many boxes under the tree;
With special offerings from friends and family.
Although there is anticipation in each gift received,
Many things they do not need.
Some have found although gifts are nice,
It does not matter how much the price.
It matters more when those they love gathers.
To celebrate their special day together.
Real-joy knows personally the One adored;
Recognizing the Heavenly Father’s gift in the birth of your Lord.
Christmas means many things to those about,
That Jesus is the real reason for the season the wise find out.
God is love. He is our gift of life new.
He came to earth and died for me and you;
His love and peace now lives inside,
As we joyfully give to others we prove love is still alive.

1 John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Cupped in His Hands By Brenda Drake

            No matter what we go through, no matter how we feel, it is wise to remember we are in God’s hand.  He loved us so much He died to make us new.  He loved us before we loved Him. How much more will He keep us in His care when we are now a part of Him.  In Him we breathe and move; we are cupped in His hand.

Cupped in His Hand

Safely cupped in His hand, there is no safer place to be;
Tucked in the secret-place made for me;
Under His watchful eye He sees outside and within.
Nothing is allowed to hide, all is light to Him.
I am marked as the King’s property,
He jealously looks over and after me.
The world as a whole rushes to the place,
Where hell burns; far from God’s embrace.
The redeemed receive life-eternal with God as one.
Free to share with the world all that Jesus has done.
Time ticks away, every breath you take,
Brings you closer to the time Jesus returns to take you away.
Your heart will sour like an eagle, and as fast as a blink of the eye,
You will be forever dressed in royal white.
Ready for new revelation, in loves grasp to stay;
With great exultation; alive in every way.
Beauty surrounds with great expectation;
Restored to reign in perfection,
You walk on holy ground, even now secure in His grasp.
Do you think anyone can pull away I ask?

Psalms 31:15
My times are in thy hand:
deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

Act 17:28
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

A Sweet Tickle of Forever by Brenda Drake

There are great pleasures of sweet assurance of the saved soul.  Our future beckons with promises so beautiful it is hard to describe. In times of world doom, gloom and despair the heart wise will remember the promises of the forever-future that lie ahead.

A Sweet Tickle of Forever

A sweet tickle of forever teases the heart and mind,
With promise we will experience new treasures good and fine.
The glow of heaven’s streets dull in compare,
With the wonder that is ahead for us prepared.
Joy bubbles up from the place deep within;
From the space occupied, by my Lord and friend.
Sweet tastes of the freedoms that lie ahead,
Cause fear to melt along with all its dread.
My heart smiles in assurance; all is well with my soul.
Inhibitions are absorbed and disappear in His control.
I am my beloveds and He is mine,
I revel in His favor as I spend my time,
Marveling over such a grand-display of love shown to man:
Of the marvelous gift in Salvation’s plan;
Its far-reaching love draws to the cross;
And that touches, saves, and changes the lost.
What a wonderful love that makes us new and whole,
That floods such favor upon our being; heart, mind, and soul;
With such high honor the angels in awe stand,
Marveling at God’s great love and approval shown to man.
With high hopes and with faith my heart sees clear,
Our most-loving God draws us near.
Again the sweet taste of forever tickles inside;
For my God is in full control and is in me alive.

Psalms 16:11
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy;
at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Thankful Heart By Brenda Drake

Have a happy, safe, Thanksgiving Day!

Thankful Heart

When I take time to reflect on my life,
There are so many blessings brought to light.
Even in the world with all its woes;
There are beautiful reminders from the Lover of our soul.
The morning sunrise and the setting sun;
The beautiful rainbow when the rain is done;
The sounds of the birds as they sing to God above;
The comfort that comes when around those we love;
The majestic mountains, the flowers and trees;
The sweetness that is shared from honey-bees;
The vast wonders in the ocean, and sky;
The sweet toothless smile of a baby passing by;
The kindness of a neighbor; the understanding look from a friend;
The times of laughter and the sweet, quiet joy deep within;
Clothes on my back, a roof over head and enough food to share;
What more do I need to give thanks in prayer?
Thank You Lord, for all You have done to set my heart free,
To enjoy each day that You have given me.

1 Chronicles 16:34
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good;
for his mercy endureth for ever.

Steadfast Love By Brenda Drake

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

            We get a revelation of God’s love when we recognize how far we have traveled from where we began.  Great is our joy at the steadfast love of our Lord that keeps watch for things turn out as He desires for us.

Steadfast Love

Steadfast love follows, leads, and guides me to the place;
Where my seeking heart can seek His face.
Never-ending devotion has me in His grasp;
Encouraging me to walk ahead on faith’s path.
Faith that holds on tight.
That gazes ahead with His inner light.
Rock-solid truth is the foundation strong,
The divine hope that bursts into song.
Joyful sounds form within;
With sure knowledge I belong to Him.
His love has wrapped me carefully with His peace,
That surely promise great increase.
Steadfast love lifts me up when times are low;
It paves the way ahead in great comfort to my soul.
Sweet wonder fills me and overflows in the revelation of this.
My God is faithful and true and I am forever His.
Jesus, my Lord and Savior is truth, life, and the way.
He is the Light that shines in my day.
His love and devotion drew me to the place, I was freed.
His love and sacrifice drew me to my knees.
His love lifted me out of sin and shame’s hold.
And places upon me such favor that is yet left untold.
One day soon I will see the desire of my heart arrive,
Steadfast and true to draw me to His side.
Eternally to be with Him a part;
One forever as His bride and to a new journey start.

Hosea 2:19
And I will betroth thee unto me for ever;
yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment,
and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

God Lights the Way By Brenda Drake

Love speaks in the dark place…. Over here!
Come delve into Scriptures and Light will appear,
In its pages you will see,
The answer to the darkness inside of thee.
His name is beautiful upon lips of clay,
When uttered by the faithful…. darkness flees away.
The holy name of Jesus (the Light),
Pierces even the darkest of nights.
The holy blood that was shed at the cross,
Made the way for the lost.
The love of God provided the Way,
So on His path you could stay.
There is no place,
Too dark for God’s Grace.
There is no sin under the sun,
That can stop the heart that desires to come.
Are you lonely, fearful, or sad?
Are you bitter, confused or mad?
Are you lost in a dark, dark place?
Will you hear love calling you?  Will you seek His face?
Love says…. Read the Words holy and true
Delve into the Scriptures and God lights the way for you!

John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Psalms 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Oh What a Wonder By Brenda Drake

Creation shouts the wonders of God,  when the word of truth is comprehended. Our heavenly Father sent His Son Jesus to become a part of His creation. Jesus was to rescue us from the wages of our sin.  He needed to die in our place so we could live forever with Him.  The wonder of it almost boggles the mind.

Oh What a Wonder

As I look around, what a wonderful God I serve.
What a wondrous future He gives to the undeserved.
His love breathes into a dying heart His grace.
What a wonder; He knows and desires to me embrace.
How can this be that the God who created all that I see,
Cared enough to give His Son to die for me?
Is it any wonder I cannot fully understand?
Why would He care so much for fallen man?
The greatest wonder so hard to comprehend,
Is He wants me to be forever one with Him.
He so desires for all to be a part of His wondrous plan;
That He takes time to form and to shape us with His hand.

Psalms 72:18-19
Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen

Like a Sweet Perfume By Brenda Drake

The greatest place on earth is in the secret place of worship where Jesus, the Prince of Peace is.  It is a place of such beauty we never desire to depart. As much as we love the special time set aside; Jesus loves our time spent there even more.

Like a Sweet Perfume

Like a Sweet Perfume
Like a sweet perfume poured,
At the feet in honor to the Lord.
My heart’s songs are lifted in silent prayer;
Bowed down, transparent, and fully aware.
The Master is pleased with my gift displayed,
As I receive His answered kiss by faith.
Sweet is the atmosphere deep inside;
Restored, assured, and fully alive.
Oh heart, do not be stingy with offerings to the One you adore.
Lay every worry, fear, and anxiety at the foot of the Lord.
Allow His sweet acceptance to calm your troubled sea.
Allow His love and provisions to perfume your life sweet.
A sure example of a life blessed;
Fully, wholly, at peace; at rest.
Like sweet perfume in a world filled with rot and decay.
Like a shining bright gem put on display.
Like a jewel of heaven shiny bright;
One with Life, Truth, and The Way; Jesus the Christ.
Nothing more precious can there be,
Than the love displayed for His bride redeemed.

2 Corinthians 2:15
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

Song of Solomon 4:10
How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine!
and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!

Be Thankful By Brenda Drake

When we focus on things we wish we had we forget all the things we have.  When we begin to count our blessing we will find we are favored indeed. Much that we take for granted are blessings some still pray to receive.  It is good to be thankful and to appreciate the value of contentment.

Be Thankful

Thankful hearts are blessed;
In contentment they confess.
They are happy to proclaim
Their blessings come in Jesus’ name.
Do you have a home, be it small or large in size?
Then it is safe to realize,
You are blessed with much,
Many do not have shelter or a blanket to cover up.
Have you food to eat each day?
Then another blessing is on display.
Shoes that fit and clothes to wear?
You are more than blessed if you have more to spare.
Are you at peace with God above?
Are you covered with His love?
If so you are highly favored in the world of sin.
Your thanks and praise should be over-the-top for Him.
If you find you are still unhappy inside,
And fear and anxiety reigns alive;
Then repent and turn to the Lover of your soul.
Relinquish the reigns of your life; allow Him to be in control.
Allow Jesus to give you the joy and peace you crave;
So you will thankfully in contentment offer Him praise.
You then will be able to help the one you see,
That perhaps has a greater need than thee.

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

You Are Equipped By Brenda Drake

            My love for God’s Word has brought me through some confusing and troubling times.  I am not as easily thrown off track by someone’s words or personality.  I am able, with God’s help, to continue to love and pray for those with whom I do not agree or that just plainly rub me wrong.  I am not thrown off track by personalities that would if allowed derail the peace God has instilled in my life.

You Are Equipped

You worry about false teachers but if you get into the Word,
You are equipped to accept or reject the teaching you heard.
When you judge by personalities that offend,
You become ruffled are rubbed wrong by them.
Then you are not anxious to know for sure,
If their message has merit and is in God’s eyes pure.
Christ followers needs to love and pray,
For others and for those they believe have gone astray.
When something truly does not agree with the Word,
Move away from the teaching when it has occurs.
Remember God loves those who love Jesus and His name profess,
He loves the preaching’s and teachings that will confess,
Jesus is Lord, Savior and King of Kings,
God loves preaching that cause sinners heart to sing.
Jesus is not offended by those who have personalities strong.
He does not cast the one called different to not belong.
No, He gathers them all that have accepted the great work done,
And from them together unifies to the bride of Christ become.
Do not partake with those who tear the body apart,
For they are not working in a way pleasing to the Father’s heart.

Ephesians 4:11-15
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

2 Timothy 2:15-16
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
