When I think of all the wonderful promises that lie ahead when my Lord Jesus returns; my heart soars with a great indescribable joy. Then I am reminded by the Holy Spirit, He is always working; right now in our everyday life. Several times I have experienced His delivered beauty instead some of my life’s discouraging ashes.
Ashes; Blown Away by the Wind
Yesterday’s ashes blow away in the wind; gathered no more to be kept; For the flower of tomorrow has no room for any of it. The deep lines of worry etched by time on the face, Are blown away they too are forever erased. The heavy thoughts that fight to surface now and then; They too are blown away by the wind. Pain, and despair, fears and shame, And every other discomfort that torments by any other name; All are ashes. All are discarded they are useless to keep. Ashes are everything that causes the heart to weep. Until this glorious day there is instruction wise, Fill your mind with Jesus, look into His eyes. Look into the promises in God’s Word. When you practice daily a new truth occurs, He indeed shares His beauty and places it within, Ashes are not kept there they are blown away by the wind.
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
We get so busy in our everyday life almost before we realize it we are piled high with the many things that cause heaviness within. Jesus is always available to lift our load as we lift up our prayer requests. This poem encourages us to share every concern with Him. He promises to not only listen to us but to answer with His assurance, comfort, and joy.
Come soar over obstacles in the way. You are lifted over them when you pray. The dream that illusively seems out of reach, The answer to the question you refuse to speak, The doubts and even the fears, That clouds your thoughts with unshed tears, Come let us examine these things; Bring them one by one to Christ the King. New vision inspired by God above; Will be delivered on wings of love. With God on your side and with His rule within, Is there a chance of failure with Him? With joy, peace and salvations sure hold, How is it possible you do not walk with Him on streets of gold? How could the bride of heaven, with garments pure in Christ, Not be comforted by the joy of God’s presence in their life? Come and soar with the lover of your heart and soul; Rest confident in His sure, loving hold.
Psalms 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
One day I heard the Lord ask me if I wanted to go fishing. God knew I am not an outdoorsy girl so I knew He meant fishing for souls. The person that was heavy on my heart He showed me was the big fish I would one day catch. This was a great comfort for my soul. He still is out there but I believe he one day will be caught. Now I pray with confidence for him to be saved.
Many have gone fishing though they do not call it this. They are casting out in the world’s sea for certain kind of fish. Some seek to land a good job, or perhaps success is their game. Some search for wealth and some for fame. There is certain individuals that fish for complements as self is displayed. Some are fishing for trouble each and every day. Some seek excitement and toy with dangerous friends. They cast their line and will be sorry the mess they find they are in. There are fishers of lust and perversion, lies and deceit. Where are the fishers that will fish the lost in life’s streams? There is a need of workers to follow after Christ. That will be fishers of men. Who will dedicate their life? Come follow the example Jesus gave to thee, Die to self-ambitions and follow after me. I will give you all things profitable to the soul. You will be well fed, clean, sound, and whole. Purpose in yourself to be as a sign for the world to behold; A sign that says, Gone Fishing, in letters bright and bold. A life that shouts, I am a fisherman in God’s employ, My task is a pleasure and brings great joy. It is time to go fishing; invite a friend to join you in your toil, You will have a good catch that never spoils.
Matthew 14:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
I always thought confession and repentance was the same thing. Little did I know I was confessing my sins way before I ever really repented. When I repented I changed my ways.
Confession is Good, Repentance Better
Confession is good but it only a job half done. It perhaps admits you have wronged someone. Even with tears and feeling truly sorry for your wrongs, You may continue walking the path you are on. Take the next step repent and walk the other way. Then you are choosing to God’s Word obey. Many confess weakness and easily admit, They have a temper and at times throw a fit. They wear flaws like a trademark that self identifies; But it is sinful before the Father’s eyes. Some admit they are bitter with an added excuse; For their continued sour attitudes. Some say, I was born with this way; it is not my fault, Its confession will not change things at all. If you say you are a born worrier, remember you are now born anew. Turn-about, and allow God’s way to rule. Confession with repentance will change the course of your life. Know you are given strength when you choose to follow after Christ. I will lead and guide you to the place of victory. Confess your sins and the in repentance you follow after me.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord
It took a while for me to realize I am unable to do anything of value without the Lord’s help. I count on His help in everything for now I know my limitations; I am weak, selfish, and not all that smart; but I also recognize He is shown strong in my weakness.
Drop into my Heart
Drop into my heart the wisdom I need for this day. Give me ability to reach and for another pray. Live loud in me as I proclaim, The power and majesty of Jesus’ name. Let it be Your light that shines; To assure and help another as they seek to the treasure find. Speak loud through me Your life-giving word, So it is truly a message from heaven heard. Steady my step, pave ahead my path, Give me authority to conquer every foe right where I am at. As I draw near for my daily supply, Fill me up with your goodness on high, With Your love, Your kindness, Your understanding deep, Your joy, Your strength and abiding peace. Every morsel that You share with this vessel of clay, I will attempt to give away. As You drop wisdom in I am able to flow, Successfully with You from soul to soul. This request is huge and I almost wonder at my plea. But this I know, it is Your passion I seek. It is Your love, Your touch, and words I crave, So I will believe I receive the requests I have made.
Psalms 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
There is nothing as valuable as God’s favor. The love poured upon us is precious and abundant in every situation and in every place we step. His favor is even available in the places we cannot walk without His help. By faith I walk on the waters to gather the diamonds on God’s sea prepared for me.
Diamonds on God’s Crystal Sea
Favor shines like diamonds on God’s sea; That pours out His love as He abides in me. He kindly observes all I say and do; The Holy Spirit directs my every move. As a loving mother cares for her young each day, Or as a devoted father that gently persuades to obey. He is as the big brother who walks ahead, Leading the way the Father’s Word says. God’s favor attends to every need along the path: Arranging to keep us healthy and on track, Whispering sweet loving words in the times of stress, With thrills of promise that assures all turn out as best, Displaying High Mountain views of His dream for our life, And with joy of glorious guarantee of a future with Christ. Through the living testimony of His provisions for others, His exciting invitation as He beckons us to His truth discover, They all shine like diamonds on God’s Crystal Sea. So great is God’s favor upon His redeemed.
Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Our Lord is always attempting to touch us with His hand of mercy and heart of Grace. In the beauty of creation He reaches out to us, and on the cross He bore our every sin so He could forever touch our soul.
He Reaches Out
He reached out to me before I was born. He desired my love before I was formed. Strange, but wonderfully true, As He reached out to me; He also reached out to you. On the cross… terrible, was His agony. In this troubled place, He reached out to you and to me. He saw our every sin, and, He died for each and every one. Then, He motioned to us to follow Him, when He was done. His holy work was finished; He waited for the appointed time, When He called my name, I reached out, and invited Him inside. There are many special times when I’ve felt His touch; When I lift up my heart in worship… He lifts me up. In times of worry, and times of stress, When I, lift up my prayer requests, He takes the problem that weights me down, And then, He pulls me to higher ground. Even in times of anger, trials, or fear, In just a breath of praise, He draws near. His loving, hand of mercy, and His wonderful, firm embrace, Draws me even closer; when I seek His face. He also reaches out to me through others …it is strange indeed, Because we are so close, when it happens; it is, His embrace. I receive!
I John 4:10-11 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
We have ample opportunities to get down-in-the-dumps, allowing worldly circumstances to take away the joys of our salvation. We all have a choice to fear evil is in charge or to be confident our Lord is in full control. I choose to have faith in God’s goodness and want to think on the good things in life.
I choose to see the sunshine above the clouds of life. I choose to see the workings of the Spirit as I follow Christ. In the midst of evil I seek to see; The soul that the Good News needs The tactics of the enemy are not hid from my sight, But my choice is to rely on the plans of the God of right. The world proves daily why I hate its taste more and more. And it gives me a greater hunger for the Word of the Lord. In the blackness of sin and shame and its dark foreboding ways, I choose to trust and rely on God and continue to sing His praise. Yes I am a dreamer and choose to look through eyes of faith. I am my God’s beloved and for His return I wait. But until then I will diligently follow after the Light, For even in the dark world His love shines bright.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
How silly it is to say one thing and yet do another. We do it all the time. We profess Jesus and yet act like the world. Help us Lord to not grieve the Spirit by dishonoring the image of grace.
Dirtying the Image of Grace
Washing one hand but eating with the other, The full silliness of the action is left undiscovered. What this illustration shows to the wise, Will be hard to see with blinded eyes. The repented life with lips their sins profess, But by their continued actions what is believed is confessed. One washed clean with new attire, While playing in the world’s muddy mire, May beckon sad, weary, sin-sick souls who are lost, To follow after them to find hope at the cross. It is very difficult for them to trail after you When they see you are very dirty too. You are a Christ-follower with Him now as one, Although you are not perfect you can show God’s Son. But you must never attempt to show His face; By dirtying the image of His grace. Clean and pure living renounces the world’s sins. Do not compromise by partaking and wading in. You become a light another can truly see. A proper reflection of all God fashions you to be.
1 Peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
I have had some amazing things happen in my life. Some, I believe are miracle material. It excites me to know that I serve a miracle working God. The most wonderful phenomenon I have experienced is salvation, and the growth of the Lord inside of me. He truly is my increase.
Think on the Miracle That Took Place
If you saw five loaves of bread and two fish multiplied to twelve baskets fill, It would astound you and with wonder you would be filled. It indeed would be a great miracle that took place in your sight, But think about the true multiplication done by the Christ. Thousands of hungry stomachs were also filled that day, And there were still twelve baskets full left to give away. As you think about the miracle that took place, It pales in comparison when compared with God’s grace. From the life of one, there are numbers too large to count that are saved. From the life of one lifted on a cross… all sin debt was paid. Because of one life offered to save man, God’s truth can be heard as the Father planned. Think about the miracle of the cross of shame; The Bread broken for you took away all your blame. The believing heart by faith stands, Redeemed… a brand-new man. Oh, what a wonderful sight to see; The angels marvel at the change in thee. From dark to light… from death to life, What a wonderful work done in and through you by the work of Christ. The life saved is then multiplied anew. As you live for Him… the Bread of Life lives in you. What a mighty miracle is done again, You become the bread of life that God to another sends.
John 6:13-14 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
