Gift Most Magnificent By Brenda Drake

            Have you kind of lost the Christmas Spirit this year?  I know it has been a hard year with many ups and downs; but Christmastime is a most magic time of year.  Place all that is bothering you in Christ’s hands.  Allow Him to bring peace and joy to your celebrations with family and friends.

Gift Most Magnificent

The whole world observes the birth of Christ;
But not all welcome Him in their life.
They may decorate a tree
And place a star above to see,
But do not acknowledge Jesus died on a tree for them;
And think the story of the men wise was just a legend.
They pass out gifts extravagant and plain;
Without honoring the One most magnificent to the earth came.
He arrived as a precious gift wrapped in human skin.
He was holy and proclaimed King by those who beheld Him.
As the day approaches, set aside to bring God glory,
Watch for the profit that comes in the Christmas story.
You live in a trying time with small pleasures along the way.
But know, the babe celebrated, lived, died, and rose is alive and well today.
He sits at the Father’s side observing things great and small.
In the hearts of the wise they know He sees it all.
Come and bow down at the feet of the One you adore;
Know, one day every knee with bow and declare Jesus is Lord.

Luke 2:10-11
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Philippians 2:10-11
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Grand Display By Brenda Drake

            We celebrate Christmas with bright lights and gifts for one another.  I have seen some pretty awesome demonstrations of our expressions of love at Christmastime. But truly we must have our heart’s eyes opened to see the grand display our God daily places for our enjoyment.  There is no greater love than the love of the heavenly Father when He sent His Son Jesus to become as we are so we can become as He is.

The Grand Display

A grand display is set before you as you gaze about.
The majesty of God’s creation His love shouts.
From the diligent little ant to the twinkling shooting star above,
All of its wonders tell of God’s love.
Every uniquely formed snowflake, each finger print too,
All are a great display to God’s love prove.
Majestic, high, wide and deeper than you know,
Is the span of God’s hand to care for every soul.
There is no demonstration of love as great as when,
The Father sent Jesus to die for man’s sins.
In the small babe born in Bethlehem,
Was God’s greatest display of His love for man.
Jesus would grow to live and to die to pay the price,
Needed to purchase the soul of every life.
To celebrate His birth is to also celebrate His death.
To truly rejoice is also a great gift.
As you offer the Father your heart again on this day,
This is yet another grand demonstration of love portrayed.

1 John 3:1
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

What a Night By Brenda Drake

I have great wonder and respect for the Christmas story.  Being a woman, I wonder at the fact Mary’s great honor and responsibility to give birth and to raise the Son of God.  Like the song we love to sing, we wonder, Mary did you know this baby would become your personal Savior?  Did you know He made the earth you were teaching Him to walk on?  What a wonderful story, what a wonderful love story!

What a Night

What a night; like no other,
The holy child in the arms of His mother.
God was wrapped up tight,
As the stars He made shined bright.
The heavens watched and angels burst into song.
The frail, tiny baby would right what was wrong.
Within Mary’s heart the promised truth lay;
She gazed into the eyes of God on that day.
Holy, pure majesty placed in her care,
To one day His life-purpose to with the world share.
Holy and precious baby to a virgin born,
Her great joy would one day from her heart be torn.
On another night like no other before,
Her Son became her Savior and Lord.
We too can know and the truth believe,
Because He is Truth and Life new birth we receive.
He lived to die so we are set free,
To rise up as He did to victory.
As we give gifts and celebrate Jesus’ birth,
Keep in mind He is the Father’s gift sent to earth.

Matthew 2:1-2
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
