A Different Story By Brenda Drake

A Different Story

The stone rejoiced as it was rolled aside,
The Creator of the universe was alive!
Glad was the napkin as it was folded and laid aside by the Lord,
His statement to world, He returned from death’s door.
The guards shook in wonder what they knew was true,
Jesus indeed did what He said He would do.
The women who were prepared to see what they already saw,
At the empty tomb stood in awe.
Sad hearts gathered to find strength to carry on in their despair,
Their hearts wept because Jesus, their Lord was not there.
Peter’s tender heart was pierced at the thought of the days before;
How He was saddened at His denial of His Lord.
The devils celebrated along with those who were in control,
Little did they know the great work accomplished by the cross and its cruel hold.
Heaven’ wept at the sight and the Father needed to look away,
But what a different story that is written on Resurrection Day!
Jesus was alive! He did what His birth planned from the start.
He died and rose again so death eternal sting did not need to be of our lives a part.
He is alive and His appearance caused hearts long ago to sing;
Now we all can rejoice and give glory to our Savior, our Risen King.

Luke 24:6-8
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words,

He was Lifted Up By Brenda Drake

He was Lifted Up

He lifted up the cross to go to the place,
Where His sacrifice could lift us to receive His grace.
Every sin and shame was piled upon His back,
So the death-penalty of your sin you need not pack.
He that is Light went into the dark, blight of sin,
So all in darkness could allow the light of truth to enter in;
He who was the Way became sin and lost,
So we would find the way to life and holiness by way of the cross.
He who was crucified, lifted up His life again.
For He who is Life could draw you to Him.
He is not dead, He is alive and well,
And you who are or were dead are able to a new story to tell.
You are when His, a living, breathing part,
Of the Father, Son, and Spirit very loving heart.
You who were dead is alive too.
Jesus, the Risen Lord now dwells in you.
Celebrate the glorious day when all men are able to see;
If they lift their heart, mind, and soul, they are able to believe and receive..

Mark 16:6
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

He Saw By Brenda Drake

He Saw

While looking over the city Jesus could see
That it would suffer because of apathy
How He longed to save it from such a fate
But the time was upon Him – the time was late
He know men’s hearts – the fickleness of man
He knew their great need and the Father’s plan
He saw as they lifted their voice in praise
That many would cry “Crucify Him” in just a few days
Heaven was watching as the multitude ushered in Jesus as King
They saw the little children dance and sing
Great was the expectation and excitement in the air
The streets were lined with Angels that were also there
Two realms were watching – one blind and one that could see
The eyes of man were hindered by sin and ideas preconceived|
They only saw their desire for a King to crown
They shouted praise as they waved palms and threw them down
But the heavens saw God’s great plan unfolding before them|
They could see man’s great need to be freed from sin
Indeed the rocks would have shouted if the children did not sing
For Greatly to be praised is Christ the King!

Luke 19:41-43|And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

When Stress Rises Prayers Should Too By Brenda Drake

We are instructed to pray without ceasing. When we are happy, if we are sad, when trouble and trial comes, when we are sick, and when all is well with our soul.  We at times get a little frazzled when we become stressed but truly this is when we really need to utilize the gift of our prayer time.

When Stress Rises Prayers Should Too

Pressures are mounting; there is so much to do.
When the stress level rises your prayers should too.
There is an order – things must be done on time,
When you pray – then God’s order you will find.
Days are numbered, people run to and fro,
Wise are the ones that seek to walk where the Spirit shows.
When God’s child rests in His divine favor they will see,
That they are on time, where He desires them to be.
Not one moment too late, nothing is needed to do to bring to pass,
What their God has ordained, in fact,
They seem always to be in the right place to receive,
Exactly what it is that they need.
Wise are the ones that daily ask for God’s best,
They receive what their God has as His Word is confessed.
The wise child will speak the Word as they pray,
Then they know they are praying God’s way.
God provides comfort and He protects from life’s storms,
He molds and shapes as He is in you formed.
His love is everlasting; He hears every plea;
He is all knowing; all things He sees.
So as the world’s tolls weigh upon your heart, remember this,
He is always willing and is always able to assist.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Lord, These Things I Know By Brenda Drake

There are many things I do not know when it comes to God and His ways but each day I am learning. I trust My Lord to lead me to the place where one day I will know everything He desires me to know.

Lord These Things I know

Lord I know You deserve all praise;
I need to show that I’m committed to your ways.
I know that there are things I do not fully understand.
And I know that things do not always go as I’ve planned.
I know that when my heart begins to fear,
That You are still always near.
I know when I begin to grumble and complain,
That in this place I cannot, and must not remain.
I must lift my voice in thanks and praise again,
To allow Your strength to rise up within.
I know that it is all too much for me to bear alone,
And that You help me and that You carry me home.
My great-desire is to do Thy will.
And I know that my needy heart You are willing to fill.
I come in repentance for I know that’s what is needed most,
I also know that in its feat I’ve no room to boast.
Jesus I know by faith soon You come again,
And that I will be with You till the very end.
There’s much I do not know but as I walk ahead in faith,
I know because You are for me, who can fight against?
I know You have a destiny planned for me,
That no circumstance or power can take me from Thee.
I know my heart hungers to do what You ask,
Open my heart’s eyes so I can follow faithfully in Your tracks.

By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.  Psalms 41:11

New Found Freedom Brenda Drake

It is strange but the fear of losing our freedom if we give Christ our life is the complete opposite as the truth. In Christ we have new freedom, we have true freedom.  We are no longer bound in sin’s chains; and are freed to live free from the threat of eternal death in hell.

New Found Freedom

Many believe there is a great list to follow to belong to Christ.
They feel it take great effort and that they lose all their rights.
A list of do not’s loom in their mind,
And a very hard taskmaster to keep them in line.
Some say, I will wait till I’ve had my fill
Then I’ll give in and do God’s will.
When I’m old and tired – it will be easier then,
Besides, if I go now I will lose all my friends.
But the One that loves them more than they can see,
Says, if you come now My strength you receive;
The terrible hold of sin’s chains will be released.
You will experience great inner peace.
New found freedom is more satisfying than you know,
For Jesus died to make you new and whole.
The list of do’s and don’ts are not an issue anymore,
For you will very much desire to please your Lord.
If you cross the line, you’re anxious to change direction for Him,
As you repent you’ve found freedom again.
Free to worship, free to praise, free to live without fear,
Free to know and to show your God is near.
The one that listens and hears what the Spirit says will see,
They have new found freedom in Me

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32

Faith Walks Through New Year’s Door by Brenda Drake

Faith Walks Through New Year’s Door

Hope and faith walks through the New Year’s door;
With good memories kept safe and the rest left in the hands of the Lord.
Tomorrow’s sun shines like diamonds in the sea,
With the alluring pull of what ahead may be.
New vision, new plans, with a slate clean,
To start building on the new year’s dreams.
Hope and faith are joined with joy and peace within,
Knowing without knowing how the Lord is leading them.
Happy New Year to all is my desire and I pray,
Your hope and faith grows stronger in each passing day.

Like the Hidden Penny By Brenda Drake

Whisper: You are as the lost coin, You are beautiful and Mine.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Like the Hidden Penny

Like the penny hidden away,
Not valued high …not on display,
Rather plain, and tarnished with time,
Common, like many others in design.
Hidden… among other discarded things
But its destiny was to be in the presence of the King.
Without effort it travels from one drawer to the next.
For quite awhile no one really paid attention to it.
It was so small and dirtied with the world’s touch;
No one but God would pick it up.
But what a wonderful change took place,
When God touched it with His grace.
The world still may wonder what it is they see;
For on the outside, it is not at all what the world wants it to be.
But it has traveled from the rubbish into the high place to stay.
The world was wrong; it is to be on display.
It has been polished to become,
An object that represents the good work of God’s Son,

I am now held in high honor only because of God’s
good work in me.

Have A Merry Christmas by Brenda Drake

Have a Merry Christmas

We celebrate Jesus, His love and His birth;
 As we again marvel how the Creator chose to come to earth.
 He was born of a virgin as was foreordained;
 Witnessed by a star His holy entrance proclaimed.
 Angels sang of God’s purpose to those who would hear,
 Shepherds and wise men bowed as they drew near.
 We give gifts to others to celebrate God’s greatest gift bestowed.
 He is the greatest gift our hearts can hold.
 When we share Him we share life,
 When we share Him we share light.
 He is the bread that nourishes our soul.
 He is the one that makes lost found and the empty full and whole.
 When we celebrate Christmas we honor Him.
 So again I say, Merry Christmas let our celebrations begin!
