Extravagant Love By Brenda Drake

This is a poem in my new book soon to be released called Love Makes A Way by Brenda Drake

It boggles the mind to think someone loves us enough to die for us.  But greater still is the mind-blowing realization the Creator of the universe loved us enough to not only die for us but also chooses to live in us.  His love is never ending.  It is indeed extravagantly elaborate; He is willing and able to provide for our every need.  He is truly our prince charming! He is Lord of lords and King of kings.

Extravagant Love

Love created – those created rebelled,
Evil entered to lead the way to hell.
Love had a perfect plan,
But it needed to help the blind to see His plan.
Love reveals Himself to those who will obey;
To tell others in need and to lead the way.
It is an extravagant love that never stopped its flow.
Only an extravagant love would choose to die to save every soul.
This love will not force His self upon those He desires to touch.
But He will never stop demonstrating His love.
The free choice to choose or reject Him is His first gift given to all.
But He will never stop wooing the one who will hear His call.
Extravagant love tasted death so death would lose its sting.
Extravagant love makes a pauper a child of the king.
Jesus is the love-word spoken from the cross of shame.
A love-proposal to offer His name;
An over-the-top expression of devotion to call His bride.
When He said it was finished, He for them died.
But this love could not in the tomb stay,
He arose conqueror, alive in every way.

Ephesians 2:4-5
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Motivated by Love By Brenda Drake

Because Jesus loved us enough to help us in our greatest need, we are equipped with the ability to express sacrificial love to assist others.  When we die to our selfish nature and allow Jesus to rule within us we find we are living life motivated by His love.  It feels so good and satisfying to touch another’s life in the name of Jesus.

Motivated by Love

Obligation motivates – guilt does too
But the best motivation for good is love in you
When you see a need in another’s life
And you have ability to make their burden light,
If you grudgingly do it with a halting step,
The good deed may be appreciated but its motivation isn’t the best
Love rushes in to help without much thought at times;
You are reaching to help before the solution comes to mind.
Love is like the perfume of the rose,
It is like deep thought within the word of prose.
Love’s beauty is recognized right away.
Healing comes when it is conveyed.
A listening ear, a silent prayer,
A simple card or a loving word shared.
When motivated by love the world’s problems still exist,
But the harsh reality is sweetened by motivation such as this.

Ephesians 5:2
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Love Builds a Bridge By Brenda Drake

            We were hopelessly lost with no way to pay the debt of our sin. Our heavenly Father sent His Son Jesus to pay for our sins with the sacrifice of His holy life upon a rugged cross.  Jesus provided the bridge of Salvation for us to be able to be a forever part of His love.

Love Builds a Bridge

Love builds a bridge over the muddy place,
Love seeks to extend mercy and grace.
Love leads to higher ground,
It will not-it refuses to push or put down.
Bridge-building love extends a helping hand;
Setting to work to mend, and heal the best way it can.
Love walks the extra mile it takes for success,
Love bows low to at God’s feet rest.
Bridges of love needs mending at times.
When your love gets prickly and hard to define,
Come to the One that builds love strong again.
Come to Jesus the Master-Builder, rely on Him.
He is the restorer of the breach, His divine touch restores.
The needed wisdom is found in Christ the Lord.
When two or more agree together in prayer,
The One who knows and hears all is there.
God is love and Jesus is love’s way.
He is the Good News of Salvation portrayed.
When you belong to Christ and you practice what you preach,
You will do what needs to be done to the lost soul reach.
You also become a bridge-builder to cause peace in the land.
As You love others as yourself you are doing as Jesus commands.
Love builds a bridge to lead the way,
To the other side where the Prince of Peace stays.

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

The Rain Drop By Brenda Drake

When we were young we would play in the rain, when older we run to get out of the rain.  As God’s chosen we pray for His love to rain on us.  I desire to soak in His love.  Lord, rain Your love on me.

The Rain Drop

Precious is the rain drop in the dry place.
Precious to all the world is God’s grace.
God’s grace is more valuable than any other thing.
It comes from a heart that gave everything.
The love of the Father is manifested in the name of Jesus Christ.
Jesus was sacrificed to be the answer for our life.
He was sent to give life to those not alive anymore.
He died to save the fallen, the diseased, and the poor.
He is the rain that waters the earth.
He is the living water that gives the dead and dry rebirth.
The Precious Rain is multiplied again and again,
As He gives new life to you, you become more of Him.
The Church: a river of raindrops; flows to show God’s grace.
They water more and more of the desert place.
One day the Lord shall gather every reborn-soul,
Then the full love and mercy of God on them overflows.
They will be as a sea of glass, with multitudes inside;
Such a glorious picture; forever as Jesus’ bride.

I John 3:16
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Isaiah 32:2
And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

I Walk Toward What Already Surrounds Me By Brenda Drake

You are everywhere and are everything to me.

I Walk Toward What Surrounds Me

I walk toward what already surrounds me.
I am seeking what has already found me.
My darkened understanding is beginning to see,
The light of the truth that is revealed to me.
All of my thinking was upside down;
All my ways and motives and beliefs were unsound.
What mattered most I now count as less.
What I did not desire is now in my eyes the best.
The fleeting pleasures of self and its ways,
Is now to be sacrificed and cast away.
As I walk toward the One that I desire,
The coldness within is replaced with His fire.
As I dream of the eternal place ahead,
I can more appreciate the life He now gives.
I used to dream of life full of every worldly attraction;
But as I have tasted its wealth…less is the satisfaction.
For what I desire even more,
Are the love, fellowship, and presence of my Lord.
The world’s turmoil, stress, and unrest,
Is unsettling and in a terrible mess.
But I am finding any place my feet trod,
There is a wonderful refuge of peace in God.
For no matter where I go,
He is the comfort for my soul.
I continue to walk toward the One that surrounds me is true.
He is my world now and in the next world too.

Act 17:28
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own
poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

The Vessel By Brenda Drake

Life is a precious gift.  We are each known to God; the Word says He knew us in our mother’s womb.  When we are born-again Jesus is in our hearts and we are one with the heart of God.  We are a vessel that now causes to the Father great delight.

The Vessel

The Creator beheld the lump of clay but saw the vessel within.
It wasn’t just any vessel; it was to be made for Him.
Before it was He knew exactly how it would be.
For He already had a plan that only He could see.
In fact He saw it even before it was the lump of clay;
For the idea was always in His heart tucked away.
This vessel became tarnished and was taken from His grasp;
But the One that created all things paid the price He asked.
The vessel is made new and formed from within.
The reborn soul is molded and shaped by Him.
Oh what a beautiful vessel that is made because of Christ.
He is the One that gave for man His own life.
When man allows God full control,
He is made into the most precious vessel,
That will carry the Word of God for another to hear;
That gives to His God all that is to him most dear.
This is the vessel chosen to hold Heaven’s wine.
This is the vessel that the Creator designed.
Beautiful, precious, valued so high that the Angels strain to see,
All that the Creator plans to pour through thee.
Great things are destined for every newborn life;
For they become the vessel that causes to the Father great delight!

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Deepest Love By Brenda Drake

            One day I was contemplating the greatness of God and truly it almost blew my mind. The more I thought of His magnitude the smaller and smaller I felt, until I almost disappeared in my sight. I exclaimed, God how big You are!  Then I heard clearly, but child look how small I am I live in your heart.  Such love is hard to understand but we will spend eternity exploring the deepness of such passion.

Deepest Love

A love so profound, the ocean is like a puddle when compared.
A love so grand, the universe cannot have room to spare
A joy that’s explanation has never known words to teach;
Eons of times ahead and past cannot its limit reach.
A heart so big, a plan so marvelous and grand,
No one ever was, is, or is to be, can fully understand.
What is man, that God would place upon him the gift of His love?
Why would the Father look upon him with such favor from above?
It is too marvelous; He makes sinful man as pure as His own Son,
 With desire to join us forever with Him as one.
It’s almost too much for me to comprehend;
The Creator of all there is calls me His friend.
A masterplan so wondrous, He allows me to be of it a part.
Such a deep love, He decided to reside within my heart.
A marvel so majestic I cannot fully understand
But I offer my life to become all He has planned.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Desperate for Your Touch By Brenda Drake

            I can hardly wait to spend my morning time with my Lord.  I get my cup of coffee, by bible and notepad ready to get into the presence of God.  When my routine is interrupted and I am unable a few days to do as accustomed I find I am almost desperate to get back on track.

Desperate for Your Touch

My soul is desperate for Your touch,
It seems I can never get enough.
I fill up to overflow
With the nourishment of my soul,
But still I have a great desire within.
With all I am I yearn for more of Him.
When my thoughts stray to mundane things,
I am jealous of the time spent away from my King.
When worry and the troubling sounds of life,
Pull my attention away from Jesus Christ;
Again I am desperate to get back on track,
And from the world’s clamor I turn my back.
My heart reaches up frantic for Him,
Only to remember He also dwells deep within.
I settle in to my secret place,
Ready to receive His loving embrace.
Here I am Lord use me today.
Be with me in my attitudes in all I do and say.
And when I get tired and weary from my toil,
And in my desperation I again seek Your anointing oil,
Allow me to return in repentance like the prodigal son.
I know by faith my Heavenly Father toward me runs.

Matthew 5:6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Psalms 143:6
I stretch forth my hands unto thee:
my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land.

Handled With God By Brenda Drake

            I wonder how I handled life without God’s help.  I now know I do not carry life’s burdens all by myself.  Whatever I face God is on my side and He is always as close as a prayer.  He is my strength and a very present help in time of trouble.

Handled With God

Climbing a mountain or riding waves hard and high;
That both takes great effort cannot be denied.
In your life both are true;
But the secret to success is who is traveling with you.
With God’s strength, faith, and peace reigning within;
The journey goes much better with Him.
The mountain of circumstances; with the walls of depression and fear,
With faith in God’s help the mountain may just disappear.
Those terrible waves of life; with things seemingly out of control,
With its turmoil and chaos that overtakes the soul;
All are handled with more grace with God at your side.
In fact upon His Word you can safely ride.
Then when the storms rage and you seek God’s face,
When He says “Peace be still” the raging’s threat is erased..
Do your best in any situation. Rejoice you do not travel life alone.
Trust your God and Savior to safely bring you home.

Exodus 33:14
And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Matthew 17:20
He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Love Displayed By Brenda Drake

It is strange how after we are awakened to the truth of God’s Word we can clearly see His love portrayed in every direction.  He even paints the sky in love’s colors.

Love Displayed

Love is displayed for all to behold;
From the first word to the last word God’s story is told.
Jesus is God’s Word spoken for all to hear.
His story is recorded and made perfectly clear.
Jesus is the Word, the Creator, and the Savior of man.
He that formed the earth chose to walk on land.
Jesus, God’s Word always knew,
When, and how He would rescue you.
Jesus the Word all men must seek.
Jesus is the name all with honor should speak.
The Father, Son, and Spirit; three but One;
Always knew one day the time would come,
When knowledge of truth would enter in;
So your words of praise and worship would begin.
Salvation’s songs of redemption tell of the work of the cross.
His love call is displayed to the world lost.
Love indeed speaks in every direction you turn.
The Truth, Life, and The Way’s soon return.

Revelation 1:8
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 14:5
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
