If There is Even a Spark of Desire By Brenda Drake

I have been so down in the dumps I have no words to pray.  I have choice to dwell in this terrible place of apathy and depression or to look up to God for help.

If there is Even a Spark of Desire

Dumb-founded, confused as in a daze,
Lost and unknowing as if in a maze,
Voices; so many sounds; bad and good,|
Hearing but not hearing; wisdom is not understood.
There are roads high and low with temptations on every side;
With little nooks and crannies for evil to hide.
Lights shine neon- with loud noises everywhere;
With much to tempt; more than enough to spare.
Unhealthy morsels mixed with healthy and good,
Activities to fill time, some profitable, some not as it should;
Time-stealers that numbs brains; so unable to clearly think;
With many kinds of beverages available to drink.
Numerous poisonous teachings that encourages self to live,
That places blame on others, assuring there is no need to forgive.
Programs to make your body a possession placed on display;
But denies the Spirit within to help God’s Word obey.
It is difficult for some to find truth and to its way accept,
It is a struggle; for it is necessary to crucify the flesh.
But with God nothing is impossible to attain.
With God’s help you are able to break away the chains.
He loves you; if there is even a spark of desire to your sins admit,
He finds where you are and reaches out to help you in it.
He desires all to come to repentance if he so wills.
The hopeless becomes the hopeful; new and fulfilled.
The lost becomes found, the poor rich indeed.
He saves to utmost all who desire to His help receive.

1 John 1:8-9
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

As Close as a Prayer By Brenda Drake

        I have stayed awake all hours of the night trying to figure out how to get out of a predicament I was in.  I would start the new day just as lost on what to do as the night before.  I am learning to bring my problems to God and allow Him to take care of them.  I still may not know what to do, but I know the One that does.

As Close as a Prayer

The answer is right before your eyes.
It becomes clear to the wise.
Your answer is as close as a prayer;
State your needs and leave them there.
What is it that troubles your heart within?
Lay them down and do not pick them up again.
Does anger poke you with its provoking prod?
When it does, turn again to God.
Does fear grip you in its terrible grasp?
Rebuke its hold and turn from it your back.
Know the answer is before your eyes;
And He your battle fights.
Run to Jesus, the answer to the one wise.
He has the ability and He is your supply.
The answer is the One in heaven and who also lives within.
Do not hesitate to bring all inquiries to Him.

Acts 6:4
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
