Actions are Louder than Words By Brenda Drake

Many times I have been comforted by a word of encouragement in a troubling time.  But it is a deeper, more rewarding comfort when I have received timely help from someone without even a delivered word.  I am encouraged when someone says they will pray for me, but it touches deeper in my heart when they spontaneously just pray.

Actions are Louder than Words

Actions are louder than words, louder than what you say is what you do.
To profess without works is untruth.
To say “I love you neighbor” and to walk away in their need,
Is to say “I want a harvest without planting a seed”.
To say you care for the one lonely – the forlorn and afraid;
But stay home your cheering is like offering a cake unbaked.
To say you will pray and then you forget,
Is like saying you will help cleanse them without getting wet.
If you say, I will help you, I will do this or that;
But instead you do not, what good is in the act?
Words that are kind and generous are never to be laid aside.
Words that uplift should always remain alive.
The one that truly loves will water what is sown.
Words need action they do not stand-alone.
Make sure to take the time,
To do the generous thing in mind.
When you love in word and in deeds as well,
A great work will be accomplished that God’s glory tells.
What Jesus said he did, and He did what He said,
Do as the Word says, for you are the body and Christ is the head.
Words speak loud, but not as loud as the deed done.
This is truth delivered from the Spirit of God’s Son.

James 3:13
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Are You Grass or a Tree By Brenda Drake

After we become Christians we desire to rush out and save the world but it’s wise to take time to grow-up. We are strengthened for service by spending time in prayer and by ingesting the Word of God.  The fruits of a well-nourished life will accomplish much for God’s kingdom.

Are You Grass or a Tree?

Seeds need to rest in the soil prepared,
Before they are able to their inner abundance share.
Some seeds sprout and grow up fast.
But like grass their profit does not long last.
When a sprout pokes its head for all to see,
It is still a long way from a promised tree.
When truth’s seed is sown by God above,
He nourishes it to grow tall, watered in His love.
This story is shared to ask, are you as grass or a tree?
Be patient with your progress; place your trust in me.
I have a divine plan for every kernel sown,
Every planting is by God well known.
Be patient with your growth and with others growth as well.
You will one day you all will have a great story to tell.|
God will do much with your fruit.
So your life will spread healthy seeds too,
With each days growth; fruit becomes ripe to touch.
One day because of you another fruitful tree has grown up+
Come often to God’s table to sup on the Word.
Roots grow deeper still and even more growth occurs.

Jeremiah 17:7-8
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Planted for the Lord By Brenda Drake

I was a sad and bitter person before I was born again in Christ and became a new creature.   But there are still times when I begin to resemble the old man again. When this happens I know I need to again repent and allow my Lord to rule within me.  I trust Him to finish the good work He started in me.  All the glory goes to Him.  He is the good seed within me.

Planted for God

An apple is just an apple until it yields its seed.
Then it becomes an orchard that multitudes feed.
Apples that are firm, tastes sweet and good,
They yield good healthy seeds as they should.
A profitable planting one day is its boast.
A successful crop consumed the most.
Who desires a bitter, mushy apple, shriveled up?
Who would gather its seeds to raise an orchard up?
An apple may look good and yet does not taste well,
From a distance it is very hard to tell.
But under close inspection its worth,
Is determined before it’s used to replenish the earth.
In this apple story the truth you can see.
Your life like the apple can be planted for the King.
But, if you are bitter, you cannot glorify Jesus’ name.
If you are soft and mushy with testimony the same,
Your influence will rise up more of the same kind.
Come I will heal you to be as I have designed.
Sweet because of Jesus; firm as the Word’s foundation too,
A wealth of good seeds I will plant through you.

John 15:4-5
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
