Follow Me By Brenda Drake

John 12:26
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

I follow hard after my Lord, trying always to watch for the tell-tale signs of traveling the wide highways of the world.  If I get too comfortable and overly concerned with my own agenda, I know I need to re-evaluate my life.  The Word of God is my roadmap, and the light that shows the footsteps of the One I serve.

Follow Me

Follow me, says the Father in the footsteps of the Son;
As you flow in the Spirit we get the good work done.
Be as trusting as a child as you obey,
Fully confident you will on the right path stay.
With faith and trust in the One you adore,
Wearing the armor supplied by the Lord,
The way is cleared and the enemy takes flight.
You are surrounded and covered by God’s favor and light.
Keep your eyes on the Truth; He is the Way and Life.
No matter the surroundings, keep the Word in sight.
Seek the Word, speak the Word, and draw the Word near.
In prayer and in deeds, live it; loud and clear.
To love God is to love life.
To love your neighbor is to love Christ.
Come; let us continue on this journey of the heart.
Fully rest, in your Savior, who has wooed you from the start.
There is a work to be done, but He is your strength within.
You will draw and encourage others to their journey begin.
To believe on the name of Jesus; the One that sets them free,
To hear God’s call saying “Follow Me.”

There was no greater invitation.  There is no greater plan.  There is no god like my God. Keep me safe in Your hands, fulfilling Your will for me in every way.

Tiny Steps By Brenda Drake

We feel there is so much we need to give up and need to do to clean up to get to the place right with God.  The evil one lies to us; he does not want us to know Jesus took a large, painful, sacrificial step so we can take a tiny, humbling step to receive His provision for the eternal Salvation for our soul.

Tiny Steps

Tiny steps take you to the place,
Where mercy opened the door to enter grace.
The small step acknowledging you sin and are hell bound,
Is the step that pulls to higher ground.
The tiny prayer that says yes to the Saviors call,
Is the biggest most important step of all.
This step takes you from death to life.
It takes you from wrong to right.
This step has so much promise of success.
It takes from works to the place of rest.
Just as a small baby-steps are slow,
But they learn to run faster as they grow.
So too the born-again believer does the same;
They learn God’s ways in Jesus name.
One step at a time just as Father plans.
Small purposeful steps while holding God’s hands.
Just as the small tot’s first tiny steps parents applaud,
Even more pleased is each step you take to God.
Celebrate each day and every tiny step you take.
Be aware each step is closer to God’s prepared embrace.

John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

The Butterfly By Brenda Drake

I caught glimpses of the truth of salvation a few times before I finally grasped unto its beauty. It is a little fearful to think it could have been lost to me.  I praise God He is persistent in His love toward us.

The Butterfly

Like a pretty butterfly flies across the path of your life,
Constantly landing within your sight,
Its beauty is admired; you love its grace you see;
But, unless you follow after it, it slips away from thee.
The words of the Savior, the truth of His love for man,
Is like the butterfly, do you understand?
When you hear the story, you wonder at the beauty and the grace.
But, unless you follow after it, it has been to you a waste.
It is shown to the multitudes and its beauty they behold and admire,
But still they let it fly away: God’s answer to their greatest desires.
They have let the beautiful butterfly disappear.
Pray they learn to follow, and catch its truth within, the next time it is near.

Mark 8:18
Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

Proverbs 3:13
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

He Did it All for You By Brenda Drake

            There is no greater feeling than the moment we truly realize Jesus suffered and died for us.  The wages of sin is death; He paid the debt we could never pay.  Because He lives we are able to live a life set free from sin and forever blessed.  The truth is; He did it all for you!

He Did it All for You

Mary poured her life’s earnings on Jesus head,
An unknown man prepared a place at the Master’s request.
Judas made the decision to plan,
The betrayal of the Son of man.
The disciples listened but did not hear,
They followed but soon ran away in fear.
Jesus prayed in the garden; by himself set aside,
He wept with great agony inside.
Peter along with his friends,
Slept and could not keep watch with Him
Judas arrived with a great crowd of men,
With the sign of a kiss he directed them.
Like a pure innocent lamb,
They angrily delivered the Son of man;
Into a biased court to be crucified;
Jesus God’s Son for each of them would die.
Peter was reminded of the Master’s prediction,
That he would deny Him with great conviction.
The world about us is doing the same things,
Some serve, some deny, and some betray the King.
But the truth is Jesus loved us all so much,
He died and rose again to administer His touch.
His touch forgives and makes new,
All that hear and believe; He did it all for you.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Oh What a Wonder By Brenda Drake

Creation shouts the wonders of God,  when the word of truth is comprehended. Our heavenly Father sent His Son Jesus to become a part of His creation. Jesus was to rescue us from the wages of our sin.  He needed to die in our place so we could live forever with Him.  The wonder of it almost boggles the mind.

Oh What a Wonder

As I look around, what a wonderful God I serve.
What a wondrous future He gives to the undeserved.
His love breathes into a dying heart His grace.
What a wonder; He knows and desires to me embrace.
How can this be that the God who created all that I see,
Cared enough to give His Son to die for me?
Is it any wonder I cannot fully understand?
Why would He care so much for fallen man?
The greatest wonder so hard to comprehend,
Is He wants me to be forever one with Him.
He so desires for all to be a part of His wondrous plan;
That He takes time to form and to shape us with His hand.

Psalms 72:18-19
Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen

Ready at all Times By Brenda Drake

I am so thankful someone took time to pray for me, and for every time someone took time to tell my about Jesus.  Every time we speak truth it is like a seed that grows. I have no idea how many times different people took time to pray for me or how long it took for me to come to my senses but there was a perfect time when I heard and understood the condition of my soul and grasped unto the wonderful Good News of what Jesus did for me on the cross.  It was a divine appointment; I became His, forgiven and made new.  Now it is my mission to be ready when it is time for another to hear the Salvation story.

Ready At All Times

Be ready at all times to spread the Good News of Christ,
For there is an appointed time to enrich another’s life.
With a heart filled with truth another’s life without plan,
Or effort, at the time right is touched on demand.
Be ready when the sun shines and in the rain;
Be ready in times of joy or in time of pain.
Be ready when fully awake and when weary and weak.
The obedient, grateful heart is always willing to the truth speak.
In the time of trouble amongst hard regulated days.
The heart loving sounds of Salvation sings whispered praise,
Be ready early in the day and late at night,
The truly worshipful heart in God delights.
The young need to hear it and the old just the same;
Do not hesitate at any time to lift up Jesus’ name.
The rich need to hear it as do the poor;
Every man, woman, and child needs the Lord.
At every birth or death celebration, every other occasion too,
Be obedient; ready to take advantage of the opportunity given you.

1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

The Whispered Prayer By Brenda Drake

         I was relaxing in my recliner watching an evangelist when I recognized the terrible condition of my soul.  I whispered my desire to be saved from the wages of my sin.  God heard me and I felt something was different.  It took a while for me to know the difference was I was born again, a new creation.  Jesus now dwells in my heart; and I am now eternally one with Jesus, the Lover of my soul.

The Whispered Prayer

The whispered prayer when no one is near,
Sounds loud in the Father’s ear.
The change of direction within,
When the heart first desires to follow Him,
Even before your first silent prayer,
Your God is already there.
Ready, willing and able to your life change,
As deep within things are completely rearranged.
At the first invitation from lips of clay,
The God of heaven moves in prepared to stay.
The body houses royalty, it will one day shine like the Son.
Because of repented prayer you are now with Him as one.

< < < <

Every need is known but I love to hear your voice when you pray.
I hear the songs within and your thoughts when they stray.
But remember, God’s love differs from the love of man.
My love is eternal because that is who I am.
I AM Father, that loved you enough to send,
My Son Jesus to pay the price of your sin.
So come whisper to all your requests
Know and count on I give you what is  best.

Jeremiah 29:12-13
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

The Flower Arrives By Brenda Drake

            True awakening was the day when the truth revealed I had no way to pay my debt of sin and my eternal destination was hell. At the lowest place of my life The Flower arrived; Jesus died so I could forever live with Him. All I needed to do was to confess my need of a Savior and to repent my sin.  Since that great day flowers of His love are delivered to me daily.

The Flower Arrives

The flower arrives at a heart’s door,
With an invitation to come into the presence of the Lord.
Come as you are; holy apparel is supplied;
Holy, pure, and righteous garments ready for the bride.
Come, says the Bridegroom, My heart aches for you to see,
The beautiful future I have prepared for thee.
Leave all fear and worry behind,
Revel in joy that you are forever Mine.
Sweet peace settles inside deep,
With everlasting assurance to keep.
Tell Me all the hopes and dreams, I already know.
I love to hear your voice and l love to affection show.
One day I will call you and you will never go away.
It will also be your choice to stay.
All the little glimpses become real and true,
As heaven’s open-arm embrace you.
Until then, remain in tune to Love’s call to come.
Spend quality time in the presence of Jesus, God’s Son.
Keep heart open wide to receive and to bow low,
In worship and praise in the Spirit’s flow.
In love’s sweet aroma with God as one;
The flower arrives to invite another to in God’s presence come.

Matthew 11:28-29
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

The Song all will Sing By Brenda Drake

Jesus, there is something about that name. It sounds like music to my heart.  I will sing His praises now and forever.  He is the song all will sing.

The Song all will Sing

Who gave you ears to hear and a song to sing,
And a heart, mind, soul and everything?
As the hearts fills with thanks, worship, and praise to God above,
Who fills your being with His love?
Who fills to overflow with joy and peace,
And by His Word causes great increase?
Who watches over you night and day?
Who by a prayer chases fear away?
What heart when touched with mercy and grace.
Does not yearn to see His face?
Jesus is the tune the grateful heart sings.
He is Lord of Lords and King of all kings.
He is the Melody that heaven sent to man;
To visit the earth to show God’s plan.
He is the Word of God, the Truth, when heard;
New life, new sight, and new purpose occurs.
A new destiny calls to put Salvation on display.
Jesus is the tune of Heaven and the Song all will sing one day.

Psalms 40:3
And he hath put a new song in my mouth,even praise unto our God: many shall see it,
and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

I Met a Stranger By Brenda Drake

Lord give me the heart and eyes to see.

I Met a Stranger

There was one walking on a dark lonely street;
He was a stranger that soon I would meet.
We are as opposite as two people can get,
And to the world of no real value if we met.
But God has a master plan,
That neither of us could yet understand.
Our worlds collide like a fast moving train;
Never again will our lives be the same.
There are many times on the earth we dwell,
Lives are thrown together as well.
Times, when a stranger becomes vital part,
Of our very-own, very private heart.
Strangers that become vitally connected,
With a divine touch that is unexpected.

I met one special stranger that completely changed my life.
Who became my Savior, and my Lord; Jesus Christ.
He made my heart willing and able to see,
How the heart of God draws even closer to me.
As I begin to open my eyes;
His face in other strangers is recognized,
Help me Jesus to search for  and value souls more,
So when we are escorted through heaven’s door.
We will greet as brothers our Lord and our friend,
Where the life of true family begins.

Matthew 25:35
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink:
 I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
