More Than Enough By Brenda Drake

More Than Enough

The stories in the Bible are read but not always taken in,
But if they seek it will speak to them.
The great crowd had a few fish and loaves of bread;
Their little seemed useless but when the disciples did as Jesus said,
Their little more than enough became.
Circumstances were overpowered when the Word of increase came.
The little you have to share if need be,
When the Word arrives even more visits thee.

Lord, all I am and all I have is Yours in fact;
With You on my side what do I lack Lord I ask?

This is answer-right to the question in your ear.
Your little will be enough so others lack disappears.
The story of the woman that would seek crumbs,
To receive the good deed she needed done.
She believed the source was greater than her need,
So content on the crumbs she would feed.

What about you?  Is your heart able to see,
Your lack is not more than I am able to provide for thee?
When you ask do you believe it will be done?
Or are you uncertain the answer comes?

The story of the blind men that all received sight,
Who all jumped in joy and great delight,
All rushed off to places they desired to be,
But one came back to praise the One that set them free.

When you were unable to behold the Light,
And the truth was far from your sight?
When you were healed did you go your way?
Or did you choose to at His feet stay?
What about now? Now and then,
Do you return to thank God again?
There are so many lessons in the Word when applied to your life,
Your walk is all you desire it to be, more than enough as you glorify Christ.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction,
and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

World of Words By Brenda Drake

            It is good to be aware of things occurring in the world. However when we get caught up with all the ups, downs, deceptions, and lies of the many voices, we become sour and depressed.  The world is full of words that are contrary to the Word of God; those we must turn away.

World of Words

In a world of words what do you hear?
Is it the kind of things that incite anger or fear?
Words that discourage and cause anxiety within,
Are not of value to be allowed in.
In a world of words the One Word true,
Causes faith to grow inside of you;
Rivers of peace and flowers of joy abound,
With a sure direction leads to higher ground.
Truth stands tall and will not change direction.
Great is the Word’s provision to prosper them.
Jesus is the Word of God that spoke from the cross to man;
That directs to the way of salvation the Father planned.
In the world of words of lie and deceit,
Where chaos and divisions increase;
Where the right way is painted wrong,
And what God says is evil now belongs;
Where hatred is hidden in cunning expressions,
And love is frivolous and fake in its confession.
Speak the Word, live the Word, love words kind and true.
Love Jesus the Word and He will shine through.
In the world of words- the One who made all you see,
Becomes the world to you for eternity.

Luke 6:44
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Romans 10:14-15
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

There is a Place By Brenda Drake

Words are powerful; they when kind, true, and wise are kept in a special place within. The Word of God placed within is a foundation strong.  When Jesus ( The Word) is within we are strong.

There is a Place

There is a place where love words are kept safe within;
To be enjoyed in remembrance again and again.
Remember the kind word that lifted you when you were sad?
It is in the special place you can visit when you feel bad.
Loving words are always a gift when they touch your ear:
But they speak much more effectively when your heart hears.
There is a place where you can hear love words every day;
The Holy Spirit encourages with wisdom that deep inside stays.
So they too can be drawn up from within,
To be shared to encourage or to help a friend.
The Word of God is a never ending supply.
Of life-giving utterances; like a river that never runs dry.
It is a peaceful, loving- place where you will hear,
God loved and died for you, and is always near.
Its teachings of promise you draw strength from,
Gladly is shared to encourage another one.
When you speak good words that with the Word of God agree,
You become the place the Spirit finds joy as He dwells in thee.

Psalms 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight,
O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

A Strange Thing Occurs By Brenda Drake

There are times when life and its complications cause a certain dread, especially when there seems to be no clear answers in sight. The best remedy is to go to the Word of God to be reminded God is not caught off guard and we can and must trust He loves us and is in complete control.

A Strange Thing Occurs

Father the world is talking loud threats,
Of sure difficulties that lies ahead.
My heart hurts at the loss I see on every side;
From financial strain and for families and for them who die.
Confusing, mind-blowing whistle-blowing words circle and attack.
It seems there are very little we can know are facts.
In my quiet times when I travel to God’s Word,
A very strange and wonderful thing occurs,
My heart is settled as in your care I rest.
Again I find the truth and it again I confess.
My God is able and on Him I depend;
All things on earth and in heaven bows down to Him.
I am firmly in His sight and on His mind.
My God loves to spend with me time.
Life’s complications are handled in the way best,
So the outcome of it all will turn for the best.
He is in control and it is already written what will come,
So in Jesus name I pray. Lord thy will be done.
In my life and in the world that seems to be in such chaos and whoa,
I will listen instead to the Spirit that brings peace and confidence to my soul.

Isaiah 26:3-4
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.
 Trust ye in the Lord for ever:
for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:

Psalms 3:3
But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me;
my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

Lies, Lies, Lies By Brenda Drake

Have you felt lately a little out of touch with reality?  Almost as if we are living in the twilight-zone.  When I begin to feel like this there is one place that can and does get me grounded and back on track…I go to the Lord in prayer and delve into the Scriptures. A new hope and faith rises up by hearing and heeding the truth and setting aside the many untruths that bombard us in the world with its unbelieving, faithless ways.

Lies, Lies, Lies

Manufactured, mass-produced lies,
Full of deception, behind masks disguised.
Tall tales and tiny innuendoes under the same name,
They are called and marked as a lie just the same.
In the world voices are heard; many things untrue.
They if heeded are meant to pull away in deception or to confuse.
When you are confused and muddled in your thinking,
Then you are sure to make decisions that are stinking.
Train your heart and spirit to hear God’s voice.
It will co-inside with Scripture to help you make the right choice.
Lies, lies, lies everywhere you turn.
There will be even more lies uttered until Jesus returns.
Jesus is the truth, He will show you the way right.
He is the Word God sent to cause your heart delight.
When you obey the Word and heed its direction,
You have the mind of Christ and will not be led astray in deception.

John 14:5
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

James 3:14-17
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.  This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Are You Grass or a Tree By Brenda Drake

            After we become Christians we desire to rush out and save the world but it’s wise to take time to grow-up. We are strengthened for service by spending time in prayer and by ingesting the Word of God.  The fruits of a well-nourished life will accomplish much for God’s kingdom.

Are You Grass or a Tree?

Seeds need to rest in the soil prepared,
Before they are able to their inner abundance share.
Some seeds sprout and grow up fast.
But like grass their profit does not long last.
When a sprout pokes its head for all to see,
It is still a long way from a promised tree.
When truth’s seed is sown by God above,
He nourishes it to grow tall, watered in His love.
This story is shared to ask, are you as grass or a tree?
Be patient with your progress; place your trust in me.
I have a divine plan for every kernel sown,
Every planting is by God well known.
Be patient with your growth and with others growth as well.
You will one day you all will have a great story to tell.|
God will do much with your fruit.
So your life will spread healthy seeds too,
With each days growth; fruit becomes ripe to touch.
One day because of you another fruitful tree has grown up+
Come often to God’s table to sup on the Word.
Roots grow deeper still and even more growth occurs.

Jeremiah 17:7-8
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Wisps of Truth By Brenda Drake

The Holy Spirit starts His holy work long before we know or even desire to know God.  In times of quiet, and in times of trial we are touched with fascinating strands of truth. The salvation story enters into the hungry seeking heart.  I now have a great hunger for the Word.  God feeds me often all the wisdom I desire, and encourages me to even hunger for more!

Wisps of Truth

Wisps of truth, like delicate strands of gold
Deposited in the secret place the heart holds
Interwoven threads of goodness pure and undefiled
Bits of God’s wisdom that causes the heart to smile
Wondrous revelations that reveal God’s power and might
That floods the inner sanctuary with eternal lights
A supernatural breath of air that lifts up the heart to receive
That, that their faith believes
The truth of God’s love has a sweet taste
As God introduces the wonder of His grace
The captive is freed, like an eagle soars to great height
As God’s forgiveness fills the soul with unearthly delights
Great desire fills this place with the need to give praise
At the truth of unworthiness, the heart bows amazed
Beautifully adorned in worship as a living sacrifice
Filled and overflowing, one with Jesus Christ
A marvelous union so intricately designed
One with the Truth – perfectly aligned
Seek God and you will find peace
Seek His ability for He is your strength
Hunger for righteousness – He is the bread
Thirst for His wisdom, He is the head
Rest in His goodness, entrust your life to His care
He is the fullness you seek, He is always willing to share
Every trial you face, know He guides your step
Every battle formed against you He is prepared for it
Read God’s Word each and every day
And the delicate strands of His truth will show you His way

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free

Clearly Speak the Truth By Brenda Drake

            There is a fine line between speaking the truth, and being overly blunt.  It is the same when we try to speak the truth while endeavoring to please or to not offend.  We tiptoe around a situation that needs to be confronted.  Jesus was willing to die for every sinner, but He was never guilty of not speaking the truth.

Clearly Speak the Truth

Tactfulness by world standards, says less as not to offend another.
But in the Kingdom of God you plainly speak the Word to your brother.
A tactful person of the world may say “You are a bit out of control”.
God would say, “Beware, there is jeopardy to your soul,”
One says “Take it easy, go at a slower pace.”
The other says, “Turn around; you are not covered by grace.”
The world assures you are no worse than others around you.
God desires those who live like Jesus should surround you.
The world’s way treats sin lightly, not demanding change.
But the Word of God breaks bondage and chains.
Clearly spoken truth heals.
With the Spirit’s help sins conviction is real.
Love others enough to speak truth loud and clear;
Along with a prayer the Holy Spirit will open up their ears.

Proverbs 8;7-8
For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness

Prayer
Father, season my words with Your love.  Help me not to say something is right by not saying it is wrong.   Teach me to pray Your truth, and to boldly speak the Word of God.

The Difference of Want and Need

I have desired some things so much I convinced myself it was God’s will for me.  It was not always a bad thing; in fact I thought I had some wonderful plans.  God did not always open the doors but I sure sometimes pushed very hard to open them to try to help Him.  God is good; but His plans are not always what we want.  The Word of God assures us He has good things planned for our best.

The Difference of Want and Need

Sometimes our needs and our wants are hard to define.
They become mixed up in our mind.
When we want something so much it feels like a need,
It is hard to recognize in its greed.
When desire becomes an obsession,
It dominates our thoughts and takes possession.
Does it belong more to the world, is it its treasure?
Determine its worth with God’s measure.
Or, is it something that will stay with you,
That will honor God when you are through?
Trust God’s provisions are with you shared,
He does not refuse to help because He truly cares.
If you still are unable to the difference between want and need,
Come in prayer so it will be revealed to thee.
Then you will be able to rest,
In God’s decision to give you what is best.
You can be confident He loves you so much,
That He bestows upon you more than your lifted cup.

Psalms 107:9
For he satisfieth the longing soul,
and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

No More Morals By Brenda Drake

        I have witnessed a huge change of mind on what is right and wrong.  I have talked to some that truly believe biblical ways are outdated.  It is alarming to say the least.

No More Morals

Forgotten are good morals, new thoughts have them replaced.
A now normal activity in the past caused disgrace.
Whole generations have misplaced what is right and wrong.
They have little knowledge of what should or should not belong.
Teachers are untaught, or they choose to rebel;
They assist many to walk on the path to hell.
The deaf march with their young trailing close behind.
What can be done with the blind leading the blind?
The world strips down truth and clothes it with rags that stink.
With new theories that pronounces God’s authority extinct.
What can be done about the darkness that overtakes the land?
Is there hope? How can a lost world the truth understand?
Jesus died so the deaf could hear and blind could see.
He died so those bound could be set free.
He gave His life so the sinner could be born anew.
His work is accomplished by living through you.
You are the answer; your life is a testimony of light.
Your words and actions help give others new sight.
You are an instrument that administers love;
That redirects the lost to God above.
Godly lives light the way to the cross.
The hope received brings truth to the lost.
Wrong morals are again replaced by the Word’s declaration.
Know God’s faithful witnesses with His help can turn about a nation.

Isaiah 5:20
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good work
