The sad truth is we are always traveling the wrong way before we find Jesus, (The Way). We often are ignorant of the terrible destination of our soul as we live our self-pleasing, self-satisfying, sinful life. I will be forever grateful for the hard truth that moved me from the road of destruction and placed on the path of the Lord.
The Destination of Two Paths
There is a wide path marked with excess along the way; With easy access no hard rules to obey. If there is a regulation, they swerve to the right, Any infringement of self-satisfaction is grounds for a fight. The road is not lonely for many on its lane move, It becomes uncomfortable when asked to go another route. This is not the way right, choose instead the way of Christ, Follow the example He lived, follow after His life. Accept His work in your behalf – renounce your sin, And travel the straight and narrow road after Him. There are rules, but He gives you the ability to stand, Strong and accountable even through hostile land. He will give you joy unspeakable as He walks by your side. Filling with glory as you are formed as His bride. Two paths: one filled with God’s grace, And the other leads to terrible waste. There are two paths: one wayward all the way through, And the other devoted to in God’s Spirit move.
Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
Matthew 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me
When overcome with the troubles and trials of this world there is a place where we can find the sweet atmosphere we need to face our world with God’s strength within.
When you desire to be carried to the sweet place of peace; Where the inner hearing’s ability is increased, When God’s thoughts enter the receptive attentive heart, And every worldly care departs, Nothing else matters – no one… not one thing; For every fiber of your being is brought before the King. Take a deep breath…let it out slow, Allow His love to fill you – body, mind and soul. Even the air smells sweeter in this place, As you are wrapped in the comfort of His embrace. Lovely songs of worship wells up from within, To give praise as you worship Him. There is value in this place – it overflows with power and might; As the loving attitude in God delights. Jesus will be revealed and His name is lifted high. That you are His cannot be denied. The sweet inner peace has you so filled, Your countenance will show the value of before God “being still”
Psalms 63:5-6 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Psalms 46:10-11 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge
It is hard to believe the person I see in old family albums is really me. Really in many ways it is not me. I do not look the same, think, or believe the same. I am a new creation since I asked Jesus to forgive me and to become Lord of my life.
When the Book is Opened
Family albums are opened every once and awhile; At the images portrayed our heart smiles. How different you were back then; And oh what a change you see in your family and friends. One day you will behold the books of the Lord. The things about you and your family that He records. As you are seated on the other side of grace, Because you are His, they too bring a smile to your face. Many wonderful events you will see and hear, As your friends and family are drawn near. The world does not the same remain, Proudly all will declare Jesus’ name, The redeemed are forever to be at God’s side. A lovely image to behold as His bride. Not one stain or flaw will appear. Not one negative word will you hear. Without blemish before Him you stand; Such joy and peace rules the land. Love, peace, and joy walk in accord, All that breathes forever in tune with the Lord. Remember…one day when you reminisce with Him The good times never end.
We all have the same opportunities to give up or to settle for less than we desire. But each new day is a new day to pick up our cross and follow after the One we love and serve. Life is a journey… we must take one step at a time – never give up! Stand up for right and walk in the Spirit following after Jesus, The Word, and the Lover of our soul.
Back on Track
One step forward, two steps back When, oh when, will we get back on track? Life has piled many things in our way. There seems to be less and less time in our day. Crying children and honking horns fill the air; With stressful attitudes everywhere. The media tells of sadness and misfortune of others, With dire predictions that the economy may not recover. The atmosphere is electric wars rage day and night. Politicians and the church folk with each other fight. The bills pile high and the taxes do too. There’s so much we can and need to do. We can’t see ahead very far, in fact, We have a tendency, Lord to look back. Back to the times when life was simpler it seems; When emotions were more settled – not with such extremes. God we will feel better when we trust You are in control. When we take time to pray the truth is known. When we spend extra time to dedicate our day to You, The important things we are equipped to do. One step at a time – You guide our step. As we read Your Word we are by Your Spirit led. We can see this is indeed the times of the end. When the atmosphere is charged with the times we are in. As we offer this day into Your loving care, We know only because of Your help do we get anywhere!
Psalms 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
I am a little rash and have been known to rush out and do something I thought was right to later find out it was a right thing done at a wrong time. There is indeed a time to wait and a time to go. I am learning, when I am asked to wait to trust God to show me what I need to do until I need to step out in faith.
When to Wait and When to Go
There are times when you are urged to go; to step out in faith. And then there are times when you are instructed to wait. When you wait on the Lord you are empowered to do, All that He asks of you In the waiting time the heart is prepared, Endowed with strength to the good news share. In the waiting-time the heart and mind may perceive, The battle-plan of your commander-and-chief. As you learn who you are in Christ, And who He is in your life, In the waiting time He is built strong within. Then when you move ahead you successfully represent Him. In the time you wait His light shines bright, You receive His anointing to do what is right. As you grow stronger in the Word the time you wait, Become less as you step out in faith. Step out into the water; touch the world in Jesus’ name. Do as He has done, salvation’s good news proclaim. Be careful to not become weary in your toil; Come and rest in His presence for His anointing oil.
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
The Word of God is one of the greatest gifts received when its truth is opened up to the mind. I hunger to hear the Spirit’s whisper in my heart, then when it is confirmed by the written promises in the Bible its wondrous love is cemented firmly in my heart. No one can take its guarantee of God’s favor from me.
The Word and its Beauty
Valuable lessons written down, Are seen as precious jewels found. As you reach out to their beauty touch, I urge you to pick them up. Examine them closely to their full value perceive, Do not carelessly lay them aside; treat them as a gift received. Take them and place them in a safe place, Where they are accessible to be later again embraced. Keep precious truth in the vault of your heart under the Spirit’s care; When its wisdom is needed He will remind you it is still there. Devour the Word and taste its sweetness to make you fat. You will have wisdom to share with others that find they have lack. To those who also hunger and thirst after God’s Will; You are like the mother that urges her family to be filled. Your larder is well stocked; lessons of life are put to test, Combined with the truth of the Scripture’s promises. Eat more and more do not tire of its taste, And you are filled with God’s love to show forth His amazing grace. Read, study, and apply the truth of God’s Word to your life, And you will indeed be in a dark world a bright shining light.
Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man
Consier the flower …it is a beautiful thing It is a chosen gift for pauper or for a King Lovely and sweet smelling….though often shared They are fragile and must be treated with care A flower has the ability to lift your spirit when you are sad With the touch of God it inspires and makes a heart glad Mothers are like a flower too How many times has she bloomed for you? She is there from your beginning and even till the end She is your greatest fan, ….your greatest friend Her love is powerful, with aroma of her own She is truly the beauty of the godly, well run home Her place of honor is well known in heaven’s realm above For like the flower that blooms she also shows God’s love What a wonder she is to see When you show her love she is renewed right in front of thee There is great value in a child’s words of praise Like a flower of respect are the words “Happy Mother’s day”
Ephesians 6:2-3 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
The vilest person, the one you think grotesque and beyond redemption; in a moment, in the blink of the eye, may be seen as clean and new as a new born baby. I once would have said it was impossible, but I now know with God nothing is impossible; for He reached down and saved me from the death-sentence of sin. He paid the debt that I was incapable and unable to pay. The once lost was found, the unclean made pure, the despicable created beautiful, and raised up one with the Creator of all things.
Grand in God Sight
Magnificent and perfectly grand, Are those that take hold of God’s hand. Why is this seen as so impressive to God above? Great, is the chasm between hate and love. The step across the barrier that separates, Man from God is a great step in faith. When you trust in God and repent your sins, God enters your heart, and new life begins. You have put aside the desire to allow self to rule. This to God is a very precious jewel. Wondrous, majestic; larger than anything you know; Is the great work as you allow God to save your soul. Yes, I’m pleased with my children saved by grace A treasure in my eyes is each and every face.
Deuteronomy 32:9-12 For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.
I never was a person to set out to hurt someone, but I also did not care enough to set out to help them either. A great change has taken place in my life since Jesus saved my soul. I not only care for others but I spend time thinking of ways to help them if I am able. My prayers now are not just for my needs but are also for the need of salvation and the concerns of others.
Direction for the Gentle Spirit
Direction for the gentle spirit, yielded and still, That hungers and thirsts after the Father’s will. For the one who wants to see beauty in the most unlovable kind, That purposes to good in each person find. Know your God will reveal the deep innermost part, Of the valuable, empty space in their heart. I will give you the ability to not only see, But love enough to inside of them reach for me. That hard, relentless, calculating person you know, Has a great need within their soul. The bitter, angry man uncompromising in his ways Has great need within for God’s love to brighten his days. The very sinful man that seems to wallow in the world’s mire, Their heart too your God also desires. If you allow me to show you we will gather more and more, Into the holy presence of the love of your Lord. I will bestow upon you more than you can contain, You will over flow like a river in Jesus’ name. Sweet and peaceful with a gentle warm embrace, That honors the Father in the world’s last days. Oh gentle spirit become more like the One you serve. Learn from the Holy Spirits still voice as you read God’s Word.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
We at times think we just need to buck up, grit our teeth, and take what life dishes out, but our Lord desires to help us in every situation we find our self in. He wants to hear and answer our prayers.
Empty it all
Empty yourself of everything that holds you back. Every burden carried is a hindrance- in fact; Worry over loved ones steals away your peace; As you carry it, its weight will increase. Fear of the future, even seemingly small weights of unrest, Will cause you to fall short of God’s best. Things that occupy your mind, that you do not share, Causes you some harm, that as yet you are unaware. Empty it all; place your whole life in Jesus’ hands; Then you will experience the peace meant for man. Place your heavy heart on the altar as a sacrifice Any encumbrances quickly push aside. God’s approval will shine bright on your life; For great is the love between the bride and Christ.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
