There are times I am victorious even when I do not feel victorious; perhaps the answer to my prayer does not happen the way I want but the problem is solved in a whole different way. Jesus is in control. We are victorious when we trust He is working things out the way best. Our mind is victorious when we keep it on Jesus and not on our problem. He is the One that fights all our battles, and He is our strength within.
Set Your Mind to Victory
Set your mind to victory in whatever you face. Victory comes when God’s Word is embraced. It may look a bit different when the time comes, But it unmistakably is a victorious answer done. Victory has endurance in its grasp. Victory looks ahead in faith and refuses to look back. Victory is not always carrying a prize at the end, But victory is a banner that is carried within. Jesus is the strength that girds you up strong. Jesus is the reason and the tune of your love song. He is the goal to reach and the prize at the end. You are victorious if you completely rely on Him. Set your mind to victory; allow God’s promise to reign supreme. All is well when victory reigns in your being. God is stronger than any enemy you may behold. He hears your prayers and draws into His fold. Your heart is readied and steadied sure and true. Not only is your mind set to win the winner lives in you. Set your trust in the hands of the One you adore. Remember victory belongs to the Lord.
1John 5:4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
I Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
In our troubled world, with it contrary winds that blow against what we want, desire and believe as true we may become discouraged with our life and become weary in our well-doing. We get side-tracked and lose sight of our kingdom-goals and purposes. We need to do three things; get back into the presence of our Lord and the Bible; then with His strength and new purpose move to get up and carry on.
When you have rested awhile in the presence of the Son, And He has restored your inner smile in light of all He has done. Then it is time to pick up your bed To move on to the place the Spirit paves ahead. When you have been freed from the heavy burden on your back, And the light shines bright upon your path. It’s time to walk on with purpose to your step. Move on to the opened door; God is not finished with you yet. Move on with confidence I lead the way. Move on with assurance God plans your every day. When the clouds cover the land with its discouraging sounds, Rejoice in the knowledge you walk on Holy ground. Angels watch over you and gives strength when you are weak. They give muscle to the words you for God’s kingdom speaks. You are ready and willing and God makes you able to do, All He has ordained; all you need to do is move.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Philippians 4:10 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
I have many time been able to do something I thought I never would be able to do after I prayed for God’s help.
The Wise Know Where Their Strength Comes
David faced Goliath with stone in hand and faith within. He faced the giant because He knew God was with Him. Samson was strong with power, But He became foolish and His victory was soured. Both teach a story all need to see. Both from God their strength received. From King to pauper both the same, Needs the favor of God to remain. From small nation to large nation they too, Needs God’s favor to carry through. Wise are those that know from where their strength comes. Wise are those who pray God’s will be done. Just like David stood against the enemy tall; Just like Samson pulled down one the enemy the wall; Just like Jesus that stood against wron and stands for right. You too have the strength and can stand ready to evil fight. Just like Ester, Bride of the King, You too will see the enemy fall and your heart will sing. Just like Mary you are ready to pour, All that you are out in worship to your Lord.
Matthew 26:7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
Psalms 121:1-2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth..
We pray, “Lord make me more like You.” However we need to cooperate with the Holy Spirit and purpose our life to be more like Him. We need to follow the example Jesus set before us. When we determine to obey God’s Word He is able to use our life to help others. He is able show His great presence in our everyday circumstances.
Cause your heart to help carry another’s load, that you see, Is heavy burdened; help set them free. Cause your lips to say the prayer that will help them through. Ask and you will receive as the Scriptures teach to speak the truth. Cause your hands to reach out to one in distress. Pull them out of danger, as in God’s strength you rest. Cause your feet to walk with them a little way; As they learn to go forward, and to on the right path stay. Cause your eyes to warm them with the fires of love. Allow your arms to hold them for your God above. Cause yourself to be the one that does as Jesus would do; If you do, He will reveal Himself to others through you.
Psalms 143:8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
Job 5:8 I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
What was perfectly normal and acceptable before salvation is not only unacceptable but so out of character it is hard to believe I am the same person. Well, when I read the scripture I find I really am not that person. I am born again and made new! Thank you, Jesus for such a wonderful gift.
A New Creation
Those that learn God’s ways Change the image they portray. They desire to emulate God’s dear Son, For with Him they are joined as one. Their habits will change, bad ones replaced With new ones that glorify Him and will not disgrace. Their lives will be like an arrow pointing, With a good light so others can the truth see. Their hearts lift to be cleansed, From all dirtiness and sin within. Hopes aim higher than the earth; After they have spiritual rebirth. You are more willing to do your destiny fulfill; For now you love good and hate evil. You testify of the freedom you have found, And you will not allow anyone turn you around. When you have decided to follow the Jesus as King, Your thanks, praise, and worship continue to ring. Power grows inside as your roots sink in. You drink living water, and are called God’s friend. I AM – gives us new life; A new creation all because of Jesus’ sacrifice
Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Some ugly and great emotions have been given a name. This poem tells of Angry Andrew and Peaceful Pete. Hope its message is clear. We do not need to nurture or entertain anger when we follow after Jesus.
Angry Andrew comes knocking at Peaceful Pete’s door Peaceful Pete says I’m sorry I do not entertain you anymore But Peaceful Pete must be careful for when he turns his back Angry Andrew can easily slip through the cracks He knows all about him, he has been burned by anger’s fire But since he met Jesus and has His Spirit acquired He has the ability in Jesus’ name To conquer – the Living Water has put out the angry flames!
Psalms 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
The sad truth is we are always traveling the wrong way before we find Jesus, (The Way). We often are ignorant of the terrible destination of our soul as we live our self-pleasing, self-satisfying, sinful life. I will be forever grateful for the hard truth that moved me from the road of destruction and placed on the path of the Lord.
The Destination of Two Paths
There is a wide path marked with excess along the way; With easy access no hard rules to obey. If there is a regulation, they swerve to the right, Any infringement of self-satisfaction is grounds for a fight. The road is not lonely for many on its lane move, It becomes uncomfortable when asked to go another route. This is not the way right, choose instead the way of Christ, Follow the example He lived, follow after His life. Accept His work in your behalf – renounce your sin, And travel the straight and narrow road after Him. There are rules, but He gives you the ability to stand, Strong and accountable even through hostile land. He will give you joy unspeakable as He walks by your side. Filling with glory as you are formed as His bride. Two paths: one filled with God’s grace, And the other leads to terrible waste. There are two paths: one wayward all the way through, And the other devoted to in God’s Spirit move.
Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
Matthew 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me
When overcome with the troubles and trials of this world there is a place where we can find the sweet atmosphere we need to face our world with God’s strength within.
When you desire to be carried to the sweet place of peace; Where the inner hearing’s ability is increased, When God’s thoughts enter the receptive attentive heart, And every worldly care departs, Nothing else matters – no one… not one thing; For every fiber of your being is brought before the King. Take a deep breath…let it out slow, Allow His love to fill you – body, mind and soul. Even the air smells sweeter in this place, As you are wrapped in the comfort of His embrace. Lovely songs of worship wells up from within, To give praise as you worship Him. There is value in this place – it overflows with power and might; As the loving attitude in God delights. Jesus will be revealed and His name is lifted high. That you are His cannot be denied. The sweet inner peace has you so filled, Your countenance will show the value of before God “being still”
Psalms 63:5-6 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Psalms 46:10-11 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge
It is hard to believe the person I see in old family albums is really me. Really in many ways it is not me. I do not look the same, think, or believe the same. I am a new creation since I asked Jesus to forgive me and to become Lord of my life.
When the Book is Opened
Family albums are opened every once and awhile; At the images portrayed our heart smiles. How different you were back then; And oh what a change you see in your family and friends. One day you will behold the books of the Lord. The things about you and your family that He records. As you are seated on the other side of grace, Because you are His, they too bring a smile to your face. Many wonderful events you will see and hear, As your friends and family are drawn near. The world does not the same remain, Proudly all will declare Jesus’ name, The redeemed are forever to be at God’s side. A lovely image to behold as His bride. Not one stain or flaw will appear. Not one negative word will you hear. Without blemish before Him you stand; Such joy and peace rules the land. Love, peace, and joy walk in accord, All that breathes forever in tune with the Lord. Remember…one day when you reminisce with Him The good times never end.
We all have the same opportunities to give up or to settle for less than we desire. But each new day is a new day to pick up our cross and follow after the One we love and serve. Life is a journey… we must take one step at a time – never give up! Stand up for right and walk in the Spirit following after Jesus, The Word, and the Lover of our soul.
Back on Track
One step forward, two steps back When, oh when, will we get back on track? Life has piled many things in our way. There seems to be less and less time in our day. Crying children and honking horns fill the air; With stressful attitudes everywhere. The media tells of sadness and misfortune of others, With dire predictions that the economy may not recover. The atmosphere is electric wars rage day and night. Politicians and the church folk with each other fight. The bills pile high and the taxes do too. There’s so much we can and need to do. We can’t see ahead very far, in fact, We have a tendency, Lord to look back. Back to the times when life was simpler it seems; When emotions were more settled – not with such extremes. God we will feel better when we trust You are in control. When we take time to pray the truth is known. When we spend extra time to dedicate our day to You, The important things we are equipped to do. One step at a time – You guide our step. As we read Your Word we are by Your Spirit led. We can see this is indeed the times of the end. When the atmosphere is charged with the times we are in. As we offer this day into Your loving care, We know only because of Your help do we get anywhere!
Psalms 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
