There is No Distance in Love By Brenda Drake

The word love is thrown about carelessly; but love is more than mere words. Love was offered by our heavenly Father when He sent His Son to die for our sins. True love was demonstrated by Jesus. He spoke His love for man from the cross when He died to pay the debt we could not pay.  He is our example to follow.  When we know who He is we know the truth -God is Love.

There is No Distance in Love

There is no distance in love’s ability to touch another.
It has such a powerful affect, it is left yet undiscovered.
Love abstains from hard-words of condemnation.
It turns about; to reverse adverse confrontations
Our gentle touch is noted by God above;
It is stamped with His approval of love.
Love has silent love-words that only God hears,
Your inner desires and thoughts are very clear.
The world has need to possess, to hoard, and to control,
Everything they desire to have and to hold.
But the God-kind of love is open and free.
He loved you so much He died to set you free indeed.
His desire is for you to love Him so much;
You choose to allow within His touch.
Choose life or choose death; it is all up to you.
The wise will God’s loving provision choose.
Your co-operation with Him will much profit find.
His love flows through you, to another as He designs.
Your prayers, with good words, and loving deeds,
With random acts of kindness; are all kingdom seeds.
There is no distance in love’s ability to touch,
Even in a word of rhyme, are found seeds of His love.

John 15:12-14
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

The Vessel By Brenda Drake

Life is a precious gift.  We are each known to God; the Word says He knew us in our mother’s womb.  When we are born-again Jesus is in our hearts and we are one with the heart of God.  We are a vessel that now causes the Father great delight.

The Vessel

The Creator beheld the lump of clay but saw the vessel within.
t wasn’t just any vessel; it was to be made for Him.
Before it was He knew exactly how it would be;
He already had a plan that only He could see.
In fact He saw it even before it was the lump of clay;
For the idea was always in His heart tucked away.
The vessel became tarnished and was taken from His grasp;
But the One that created all things paid the price He asked.
The vessel is made new and formed from within.
The born-again soul is molded and shaped by Him.
Oh what a beautiful creation made new because of Christ.
Jesus is the One that offered for man His own life.
When man allows God full control,
He is made into a precious vessel,
That will carry the Word of God for another to hear;
That offers to His God all that is to him most dear.
This is the individual chosen to hold Heaven’s Wine.
This is the one that the Creator designed.
Beautiful, precious, valued so high the Angels strain to see,
All that the Creator plans to pour through those He has set free.
Great things are destined for every newborn life;
For they become the vessel that causes to the Father great delight!

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

I Will Climb Over Every Molehill By Brenda Drake

       I tend to cower at some of life’s situations.  I am amazed at some of the wonderful outcomes of situations that seemed impossible to me.  I know it is God’s provisions, strength, and ability that turn my mountains into molehills.

I Will Climb Over Every Molehill

The mountain turns a molehill before me.
When through God’s eyes I see.
What bars the way or my progress slows,
Cannot or will not hinder under His control.
My lack of resources proves when progress comes,
It is a work of divine-direction when all is done.
Mountains are moved out of my way,
So on God’s intended path I am able to stay.
When I waiver at the lack I see within,
Unsure and weak and do not know where to begin,
I remember the many times in the past;
When my Lord provided all I needed; then faith is back.
From His viewpoint I see clearly again,
Life’s hard mountain-climbs are not too difficult for Him.
With my heart at rest in His strength I the victory claim.
I will climb over every molehill in Jesus’ name.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand
of my righteousness.

King of My Mountain By Brenda Drake

Do you remember when young playing the rough and tough game King of the Mountain? I was King but it was not a very long reign!  I was overthrown pretty quickly. This poem states the mountain is my life willingly ruled by King Jesus the Lover of my soul.

King of My Mountain

You are the King of my mountain and in my heart too.
I bow low within and live by Your rules.
I am subject to Your desires for me, for it is for my good.
Because of Your presence my desire is to do as I should.
My days are numbered when times will change;
Where my living-arrangements are rearranged.
I move from this life to a life with Christ Jesus my King,
In this place of forever where my heart will forever sing.
Until then, my Lord we will together play life’s game:
King of my mountain there You will remain.
With Your help we will conquer every foe we face.
With Your Word all fear and doubt is erased.
With You high and lifted up what have I to fear?
You are more than enough, for You see far and near.
Every day is a new day to together life do.
Jesus, King of the mountain all praise, honor, and glory belongs to You.

Revelation 19:16
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Philippians 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Who Do You Say I Am? By Brenda Drake

I believe every person is asked this question at least once in their life.  If we are asked more than once we may have a different answer each time.  Now, I know my answer; You are my Lord, my Savior, and best friend. You are the Lover of my Soul, the King of kings, and the Lord of Lords.  There is no name above Jesus’ my God, the Creator of all things.

Who Do You Say I Am?

People have many opinions of Jesus across the lands.
Some call Him Lord and some call Him mere man.
Jesus is Lord, He is Life,
Jesus is the Son of God, He is the Christ.
There are countless things where He is proclaimed,
There is nothing or no one above His name.
But who do you say I am? Is the question;
Is Jesus only an expletive thrown about without affection?
Is He just a picture upon the wall of your life?
That has almost become invisible and forgotten in sight?
Is Jesus a fond memory of a song long-ago;
That states He loves you because the Bible tells you so?
Is Jesus’ name used only in case of emergency or strife?
As a magic-wand waved, to make things right?
Jesus asks us who do you say I am?
Jesus would tell you I AM.
I AM soon comes for those who truly know,
I am Savior and the lover of thier soul.

Mark 8:27
And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples,
saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

Tender Thoughts By Brenda Drake

brendadrakepoetry's avatarBrenda Drake Poetry

There is value in our words and actions but perhaps we need to start with our thought life. The Word of God instructs us to think on things good and true.

Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Tender Thoughts

Tender thoughts flow through the heart as a soothing embrace
And the words formed are sweet to taste,
Gentle, flowering, sacrifices offered up in prayer.
Love shows its face to the God that cares.
The sweet perfume of sacrifice fills the atmosphere,
In the holy anointing that…

Hope Seeks and Faith Speaks By Brenda Drake

           To me hope and faith go together almost like peanut butter and jelly. They do go hand in hand for we need hope and we need faith; together they are unbeatable.

Hope Seeks and Faith Speaks

Hope seeks and faith speaks,
What faith claims, still hope seeks,
Hope is timid, faith is bold;
Hope is like silver faith is like gold.
Hope makes its plea, and faith reaches to receive.
Hope may rest while faith watches to collect what they believe.
Hope is good all must hold on it tight.
Faith is great and is seen favorably in God’s sight.
Hope hopes for the future and faith plans for the best,
Have faith in Jesus and in Him rest.
Hope is warm and fuzzy; faith is red, hot, and strong.
Hope hums the tune while faith belts out in victory song.
Hope seeks and faith speaks out loud and clear,
Hope searches for peace but faith draws peace near.
Hope and peace are partners they walk hand in hand,
When times are tough, hope is restored when faith makes a stand.
Faith speaks in Love’s language, it speaks God’s Word.
Faith wears God’s armor and will not be deterred.
Come and place your trust in the hope that brings new life.
Have faith in the saving message of Jesus the Christ.

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Romans 5:1-2
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Treasure Hunter By Brenda Drake

a focus on ephesians 2 v8

            We spend our lives gathering treasures that pleasured us at one time but later we dispose of them without a backward glance.  Anything to do with God and His Word is kept safe within and is a pleasure and a treasure that lasts forever.

Treasure Hunter

Treasure hunters and pleasure hunters both sound the same.
But one can fade away while one remains.
Treasures are kept safe, valued high within.
Pleasures are easily spent many times in sin.
Treasures weigh heavy, and pleasures are like air,
What was pleasing before you may find is no longer there.
Be a treasure-hunter, search and you will find,
Deep, moving heart-healing pleasure left for you at times.
God’s Word is a treasure-to-pleasure that will forever stay;
It is God’s gift; He planned it that way.
Delve in the Scriptures see God’s love for man.
Dig deep and God’s pleasure will bless your land.
God’s treasure-hunters find what others refuse to see,
But they will be sure to share their discoveries.
Have fun in your diggings I am at your side.
I love to share the joys of Salvation with My bride.
Come let us go again to the writings of long ago,
That will be a lasting forever-treasure that pleasures the soul.

Matthew 6:19-21
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Psalms 16:11
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy;
at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

More Than Enough By Brenda Drake

More Than Enough The stories in the Bible are read but not always taken in, But if they seek it will speak to them. The great crowd had a few fish and loaves of bread; Their little seemed useless but when the disciples did as Jesus said, Their little more than enough became. Circumstances were overpowered when the Word of increase came. The little you have to share if need be, When the Word arrives even more visits thee. Lord, all I am and all I have is Yours in fact; With You on my side what do I lack Lord I ask? This is answer-right to the question in your ear. Your little will be enough so others lack disappears. The story of the woman that would seek crumbs, To receive the good deed she needed done. She believed the source was greater than her need, So content on the crumbs she would feed. What about you?  Is your heart able to see, Your lack is not more than I am able to provide for thee? When you ask do you believe it will be done? Or are you uncertain the answer comes? The story of the blind men that all received sight, Who all jumped in joy and great delight, All rushed off to places they desired to be, But one came back to praise the One that set them free. When you were unable to behold the Light, And the truth was far from your sight? When you were healed did you go your way? Or did you choose to at His feet stay? What about now? Now and then, Do you return to thank God again? There are so many lessons in the Word when applied to your life, Your walk is all you desire it to be, more than enough as you glorify Christ. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Come to the Fountain By Brenda Drake

There is no more precious place than in the flow of the Spirit.  Every good blessing is found there; joy, peace, and contentment are just the beginning of the benefits of God’s gift of Salvation.  Oh how I love to enter the presence of God; the Word of God fills with Living Water every day.

Come to the Fountain

Come to the fountain, Living Water is found there.
It gives you strength to show how much God cares.
When you come to this place I tell
Thirst is quenched and great peace inside dwells.
Joy visits as righteousness lives within
Hearts are reformed into the image of God again.
Living Water deeply satisfies,
For now the Spirit lives deep inside.
Come to the fountain; in God’s presence draw near,
Drink in wisdom; God’s Word chases away fear.
Despair is no more for Jesus provided the way,
To drink all you thirst for until He returns on that great day.

Psalms 36:9
For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

Isaiah 12:3
Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

John 4:14
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
