Fire in Your Step By Brenda Drake

We tend to think we need to make headlines to make a difference in our surroundings.  The truth is we would be amazed if we could see how much is accomplished in the spirit-realm by prayer. There is great muscle in Word-based prayers in the name of Jesus.  They allow God to put fire in our steps each day.

Fire in Your Steps

Put fire in your steps, catch the world aflame;
Demons will flee as God’s Word is proclaimed.
March to the tune of Salvation; every step of faith,
God’s love and favor demonstrates.
Blessed are the feet of those that the Word speaks clear.
In Jesus’ name mountains disappear.
With fire in your steps the heart and mind agree,
You will walk forward in victory.
There are no lasting concerns, for the One that your life directs,
Clearly is ahead revealing His steps.
Walk on, all that truly hear this word this day;
Know there is fire in your step when you pray.
The Holy Spirit is the Flame-maker, in the lamp within,
The oil that is needed comes from Him.
Do not fear tomorrow’s trouble destroys you for you see;
God fights fire with fire; His strength is all you need.

Philippians 4:12
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Psalms 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.

Eyes of Faith By Brenda Drake

            Eyes of Faith believe what God’s Word says. Circumstances may paint a picture of doom or gloom, but faith will believe God hears and answers prayer and knows God has things planned for our best.  Faith filled eyes see the future as bright and full of promise.

Eyes of Faith

No matter where I am Lord I know You are there.
Wherever I go You are aware.
The whole world is Yours and my treasure is in You.
So I in assurance and in freedom move.
There is nothing mine that I do not give back;
For I know You provide all that I lack.
I walk on golden streets that may feel like dust.
I have a great treasure stored away where it cannot rust.
My vision may be cloudy but it is clear enough to see,
Wherever I am You lead and guide me.
I have a wonderful future with precious jewels along the way.
It may look dark and gloomy but I see with eyes of faith.
I believe I receive all You have promised in the Word.
I will go forth in victory and will not be deterred.
Whatever comes and wherever I need to go,
There are some things Lord that I know:
You are able to keep me safe from harm,
And no matter what happens I need not be alarmed;
You are able to finish the work within my heart,
So in great expectation I will another glorious day start.

Mark 11:22
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Expectancy is Another Word for Faith By Brenda Drake

            I used to expect trouble, kind of like Murphy’s Law.  I expected to fail, and I did.  I have since learned to hope for what God’s Word says.  I expect the God that loved me so much He died for my sins finishes the work He started in me.  I no longer live anticipating bad news; I am living the Good News watching for God’s provision for our souls.

Expectancy is Another Word for Faith

My hope for the future is colored bright.
I expect wrongs will be changed to right.
In every difficult step I take
I expect new strength in renewed faith.
Hope and expectation holds unto faith’s hand.
They are the three united to accomplish God’s plan.
We hope for a child, we in faith expect,
A beautiful God-given gift.
Love gives what we have faith to receive.
God is love and He gave all we can hope for to set us free.
When I get down in the dumps and hope and expectancy is low
My faith in God’s love lifts me up and will not let me go.
Then hope is renewed like a fresh rain on parched ground,
And expectancy for God’s favor again is found.
Faith looks up and will not look back
God’s love again has pulled the three united back on track.

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Be Encouraged by the Word By Brenda Drake

Be Encouraged By the Word

Downcast eyes?   Heart heavy or sad?
Are your thoughts unhappy?  Have you lost the joy you had?
Is hope is hiding; playing games with your mind?
You need to concentrate on God’s Word and with it realign.
Your future dreams have become lost in the fog of today;
Like on the wings of the wind they have flown away.
What sort of God is it  you serve?
Do you not believe His Word?
Pick up your cross and follow after God’s Son.
Know His will in your life will be done.
Lift up your eyes in confidence …see the small cloud in the sky,
That shows God’s answer is close by.
Renew your faith…read God’s Word.
Remember the encouraging words that you have heard.
Your future is much brighter than you can see today.
It is much more fruitful in every way.
Walk in God’s steps, thank Him for what He’s already done;
Thank Him with confidence at the good that is yet to come.

Psalms 37:31
The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

1 King 18:44
And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

Faith’s Embrace By Brenda Drake

There is no place as sweet at rest in our Heavenly Father’s care.  When all our efforts are laid aside and we look to the One that empowers us to do whatever He asks us to do.  I have found the sweet embrace of faith cannot be enjoyed when self and selfish ways are in control.

Faith’s Embrace

By faith I see God smiling when I come in prayer.
I know that as I bow my heart He is already there.
Because of my right-standing, I am acceptable in His sight
By faith I cause Him delight.
The Word says I cannot fathom the love He has for me.
He loved me and died for me before I believed.
So here I am my Lord, your redeemed ready to serve.
I am amazed at Your care and the promises in Your Word.
I believe so I will receive blessings unmeasured.
You are my God and my heart’s greatest treasure.
By faith I entrust to you my life;
Fashioned to be more and more Christ-like.
I thank Holy Spirit that comforts and assures it is true:
In my God’s embrace of faith I breathe and move.

Acts 17:28
For in him we live, and move, and have our being;

Psalms 139:5-6
Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Time for Place of Rest By Brenda Drake

            In the quiet, out of the busyness of life we are able to enter into the presence of the Lover of our soul.  In the silence we are able to hear the still voice that leads us to the most satisfying space, where the world and its troubles fades.  Faith is restored and joy and peace revisits as God restores, assures, and calms the troubled seas within.

Time for Place of Rest

It is like a place off the beaten path;
A stopping-place before you go ahead or turn back,
A time of respite …some extra time,
To plan your next step, to new direction find,
It is like a quiet little vacation, to contemplate,
Your course and purpose before it is too late.
Some call it a sabbatical …where you just minister to yourself;
Where, for a short time you shut the world out.
Some allow a friend or a close relative,
To glimpse the little retreat, they choose to briefly live.
But, some choose to spend time only with God above;
Allowing Him to fill with wisdom and His abundant love.
They find a clearer direction and are strengthened too;
So in God’s Spirit they more easily move.
Come spend a short time or stay as long as you desire,

Come a little to the place of rest; closer to Love’s loving-fire

Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Priceless Value Left Unknown By Brenda Drake

Priceless Value Left Unknown

Good mothers are priceless their value left unknown.
Gathered thoughts around the world testing their own,
Is the very best mother, no one else compares,
Most would say no one is better than theirs.
Mothers tackle the job with gusto, trying their very best,
To care for their tiny individual; with very little rest.
They practice being mom each and every day;
Learning by their mistakes along the way.
With kisses to make things better, dirty cloths piled on the floor,
Food prepared and placed on the table, and with help from the Lord,
Mothers become your best cheerleader, encouraging you to do your best too.
As you grow older you find she is best friend to you.
You tell her your problems knowing how much she cares,
And also knowing a wise mother lifts you up in her prayers.
Even if you mother is no longer in your midst, she is still alive.
For a good mom’s memory stays safe inside.
Remember her on this day set aside for her glory,
As you remember share with another her story.

#mother’sday

Proverbs 31:28-29
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all’

He Finds Great Pleasure By Brenda Drake

The earth is filled with beauty; God stated all Creation as good.  He loves every part of it all… it is as He designs.  He never tires, and is pleased with every living soul.  Every moment is filled with the wonder of it all. We must rejoice in the celebration of life, and the eternal celebration of New Life in Salvation.

He Finds Great Pleasure

When the willow blows in the wind,
When the palm trees bend,
When the ripened apple falls to the ground floor,
When the child of God prays to the Lord,
When the birds sing their songs of praise,
When the child of God changes their evil ways,
When the flower’s bloom fades and willingly falls to the ground,
When the autumn leaves joyfully are blowing around,
When the stars and the moon share their glow,
When the angels sing at every new-born soul,
When the air sparkles with promised rain,
When a child of God is freed from their chains,
When the new-born baby cries,
When an earth dweller warrior dies,
When the love of a father for son is revealed,
When a cancer filled soul is healed,
When time has passed and new eternal life begins,
When there is a holy reunion of family and friends,
When the heavens dance and rejoice it is done,
And there is new rule under the Son,
God never tires, all is known and felt, and on His mind.
He finds in it all great pleasure in His design.

Psalms 104:31
The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever:
the Lord shall rejoice in his works.

Hidden Truth By Brenda Drake

            I recently saw a truth.  It hit me hard.  The donkey has a natural cross on its back; AND it carried Jesus to the place where He would carry the cross to die for our sins.  So many truths are hidden from our sight. Are you happy we are now able to hold the Savior the real Truth in our hearts?

Hidden Truth

When the donkey carried Jesus the cheering crowd believed He was to be crowned King.
They threw down their cloaks as children would dance and sing.
The donkey the Master rode sported a cross on his back.
Jesus willingly placed Himself there; there was no turning back.
The people thought He was entering to cause profit for a better life.
They missed the timing; the truth was hidden from their sight.
Shortly after, Jesus carried the cross; beaten ragged and sore.
Many of the same crowd was now crying “Crucify” to the Lord.
He was traveling to Golgotha to truly set them free.
Again the truth they did not see.
Upon the cross He was pinned to die,
Between two thieves the Son of God was crucified.
The earth quaked, devils danced, and the heavens wept,
Still the people were blind and lost in confusion’s midst.
But into deaths door light enter in.
God paid the price for new life to begin.
Death could not hold Him; He is light, and the way.
He is alive!  He is the light that shines truth for those who believe to this day.

Romans 6:6-7
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.  For he that is dead is freed from sin

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

If I Had a Canvas White By Brenda Drake

This poem is in my new daily devotional book released on Amazon, titled God’s Whispers to the Heart By Brenda Drake

Whisper: You are the work of my hand.

1 Peter 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

If I Had a Canvas White

If I had a canvas white,
Where I could paint a picture of my life;
I wonder would I be honest and paint in the things,
That I do not like or are not pleasing to my King?
Or would my picture only show,
What I want the world to know?
I think it would be a boring picture that no one could relate too;
Bland and uninteresting, and easily looked through.
But God is the Master painter …He paints it as it is.
Everything we see as a shadow is expertly finished as His.
Every hurt and trouble is lovingly painted in;
But it still is made into a life that glorifies Him.
He is still at work; each day an added stroke with expert hand.
My life is His now and I am already signed by I AM.
Nothing is hidden I am transparent before Him I adore.
That the world gets a glimpse of Him within me is what I am living for.

One day we will in awe behold the masterpiece You have created!
