Someone to Look Up To By Brenda Drake

An unnoticed hero may be someone you have known all your life.  A beautiful love story; in it innocence that would far surpasses your imagination may be left undiscovered. The needed advice, the word of wisdom, and your quest for acceptance and understanding might be as close as the one you walk by.  There are so many that are feeling unloved and unwanted all around you that could just be the person you need to speak too. God has so many of his helpers ready and willing to be of service.  Be kind to the older generation, you can learn about life, love and from the Christian faith and hope of a forever future with God.

Someone to Look Up To

Do you desire to see the strong man- the one that carries much weight?
Do you want to see the wise man; full of knowledge and full of faith?
Do you like to hear old stories- tales full of victory?
Do you like to pour over volumes rich in history?
The world rushes about searching for all of this and more;
Looking past the aged man or woman of the Lord.
In their search for answers they need to see;
The rich source of wisdom, encouragement, and faith in the elderly.
They are indeed stronger than you may believe is true.|
They are also much wiser than at first glance you may think too.
They are rich in accomplishments and know from where increase comes
They are the most reliable history book for the young;
So the next time you find you are searching for someone to look up too
Look down to the one that perhaps is bent over in the pew next to you!

Psalms 84:7
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

Mountains Moved By Brenda Drake

I am weak but in God I am strong. I cannot in my power climb the mountains in my path but with faith in God I can the mountains move.  The Lord is my help and He has given us His promises in the Word, all we need to do is believe them and stand strong in the knowledge of His divine favor.

Mountains Moved

Mountains are moved out of the way,
Just believe the Word as you pray.
Poverty is a mountain to hold back,
It muddles the road of progress so you lose track.
Speak the Word’s promises in prayer for God’s supply,
And the road to success is not denied.
Sickness is a mountain that also sends threats,
It encourages desperation and fosters neglect.
You are a mountain-mover, refuse old age’s woes.
You are God’s anointed from head to toe.
Get up with thanksgiving in each new day.
Chase the aches and pains away.
The promises in the Scriptures speak,
God heals and gives strength to those that seek.
The Word keeps in mountain in check.
Thwarting the enemies plans for disaster and havoc,|
Pray for peace but remember to alert stay;
Put on God’s armor and be ready to fight as you pray.
Remember this is how your battles are won.
Trust God and have faith in every skirmish God’s will is done.
Death’s threat is a mountain all will one day cross.
When you belong to Jesus its threat is lost.
Each day the flesh is crucified mountains cannot hold you back;
For the spirit-man like Jesus walks through the walls in his path.

Matthew 17:20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Hidden Gifts of Beauty By Brenda Drake

            I wonder how many gifts of love pass us by unseen.  The truth of God’s love and Jesus’ provision is the greatest display of love. It indeed is unrecognized by many lost souls.  Lord, help us clearly testify of the love you extended to us to help others see the beauty of salvation.

Hidden Gifts of Beauty

Camouflaged are some beautiful things;
You must be prepared or they pass by unseen.
Love many times is as close as a breath away.
It can and is expressed and shown in multitudes of ways.
Words gentle, motives pure, uplifting advice, with touch kind;
Has beauty with invisible treasures to find.
The Word of faith, with a light touch;
Has evidence of a precious offering of love.
Many things of value are taken for granted; even despised;
Such as the rays of the sun or the gleam in another’s eye.
Man does not always appreciate the gifts given them,
Time is wasted; it marches on never to return again.
People and situations change all of the time;
With opportunity to even more treasures find.
Take time to feel the heartbeat and dream of another hear,
For in a moment of time they may out of your life disappear.
God reveals camouflaged-beauty in an unlikely place;
At the cross when the true gospel is embraced.
Jesus’ love is greater and more powerful than you know.
He saw the great need in your lost soul.
He came to earth and died so you could be set free;
He saw the beauty that one day would be,
Without Him no value within is recognized,
But with Him precious and beautiful you are in the Father’s eyes.

Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Song of Songs 4:7
Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

Dear Reader By Brenda Drake

I wrote this poem many years ago; it is certainly just as relevant today.

Dear Reader

Dear Reader of this letter in rhyme,
I write this message but it is not mine.
As the world’s turmoil will increase;
Seek refuge in the Prince of Peace.
If you feel all is hopeless and feel lost
Come and seek forgiveness at the cross;
As you experience the stress of the times ahead,
Place your hope in Jesus and what the Word has said.
When hatred’s heavy hand touches your life,
Ask and you will receive protection from Christ.
When the time has come for a choice,
Do not allow defeat – lift up your voice.
Lift up the name of Jesus and you will see.
That He indeed will also stand up and fight for thee.
When the times are hard, lean into God’s love and care;
Read the Word and know He is of all things aware.
As you trust watch and wait – He will come through,
For He cannot lie; His Word is truth.
I will end this rhyme with one more thought to write;
Watch and be ready and you will see that I am right.
Jesus will appear in the clouds and turmoil and sin
Will be overcome by His rule… on this word you can depend!

Psalms 91:1-4
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler

By Faith I Pray By Brenda Drake

What we think prayer is; is different than what God considers our prayer. There are times when I am so frustrated, angry, and confused that when I bow my head I do not even have words to pray.  In these trying times I have experience all of the emotions I have listed almost at the same time.  All I truly know is that our God cares.  He is trustworthy, and He sees and understands what we are feeling and hears even the silent words that weep and scream in our hearts.

By Faith I Pray

By faith I pray;
I know You hear what I say.
By faith I in Your strength stand,
As You chase the enemy from my land.
I proclaim by faith victory,
As I fulfill my destiny.
Way down deep inside,
I know God’s Word abides.
As I walk the paths of life
I know I’m led by Jesus Christ.
By His stripes I am healed…by faith I see,
That He has already done His work for me.
His Word is sure …His promises true,
In assurance ahead I will move.
Under the blood I am pure and white;
By faith I see I am His delight.
Under His watchful, jealous eye,
My faith is restored and daily supplied.
He that loved me loves me still.
By faith I will His purpose fulfill
I rejoice to seek His face each day.
And I wholeheartedly His instructions obey;
But if I fail, falter, or fall,
I will in faith shout out a repenting call.
I know He forgives me and again
Draws me to continue to have faith in Him.

Psalms 112:7
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

More Than You Can See By Brenda Drake

The love of God is much more than we are able to comprehend, but we will spend eternity seeking to see all the glory of God.  Until then we are able to understand His great love by His masterplan to provide the way for us to spend eternity with Him. Jesus’ life and death and resurrection allow us to see God is Love.

More Than You Can See

God’s ways are infinite, more than the mind is able to count;
Man is ever-learning but never fully comprehending its amount.
With all man’s knowledge he barely conceives,
The reality of eternity.
The Creator of all is much more than life,
He is truth, He is the Way, and He is light.
So great is the idea of who He is and all He has done,
That it will cause the mind to explode before it has just begun.
The realization of the power and authority and the reach of His grasp,
In awesomeness of wonder stops you in your tracks.
The One who does know the number of the grains of sand;
And that named each star and knows every man’s plans;
The One who tells the ocean to in its place stay;
And who paints the sky with grand display,
Knows each person’s name and each hair on their head.
Is infinitely more than ever is able to be said,
The One who is the Word, loves to speak to you even in rhyme,
Your God is very glad to be able to say, “You are Mine.”
This God is able to do all you need and more.
Put your faith and trust in Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Jesus is the face of love the Father sent to show,
The One that is more than fully understood cares for every man’s soul.

Ephesians 4:16-19
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

There is No Distance in Love By Brenda Drake

The word love is thrown about carelessly; but love is more than mere words. Love was offered by our heavenly Father when He sent His Son to die for our sins. True love was demonstrated by Jesus. He spoke His love for man from the cross when He died to pay the debt we could not pay.  He is our example to follow.  When we know who He is we know the truth -God is Love.

There is No Distance in Love

There is no distance in love’s ability to touch another.
It has such a powerful affect, it is left yet undiscovered.
Love abstains from hard-words of condemnation.
It turns about; to reverse adverse confrontations
Our gentle touch is noted by God above;
It is stamped with His approval of love.
Love has silent love-words that only God hears,
Your inner desires and thoughts are very clear.
The world has need to possess, to hoard, and to control,
Everything they desire to have and to hold.
But the God-kind of love is open and free.
He loved you so much He died to set you free indeed.
His desire is for you to love Him so much;
You choose to allow within His touch.
Choose life or choose death; it is all up to you.
The wise will God’s loving provision choose.
Your co-operation with Him will much profit find.
His love flows through you, to another as He designs.
Your prayers, with good words, and loving deeds,
With random acts of kindness; are all kingdom seeds.
There is no distance in love’s ability to touch,
Even in a word of rhyme, are found seeds of His love.

John 15:12-14
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

The Vessel By Brenda Drake

Life is a precious gift.  We are each known to God; the Word says He knew us in our mother’s womb.  When we are born-again Jesus is in our hearts and we are one with the heart of God.  We are a vessel that now causes the Father great delight.

The Vessel

The Creator beheld the lump of clay but saw the vessel within.
t wasn’t just any vessel; it was to be made for Him.
Before it was He knew exactly how it would be;
He already had a plan that only He could see.
In fact He saw it even before it was the lump of clay;
For the idea was always in His heart tucked away.
The vessel became tarnished and was taken from His grasp;
But the One that created all things paid the price He asked.
The vessel is made new and formed from within.
The born-again soul is molded and shaped by Him.
Oh what a beautiful creation made new because of Christ.
Jesus is the One that offered for man His own life.
When man allows God full control,
He is made into a precious vessel,
That will carry the Word of God for another to hear;
That offers to His God all that is to him most dear.
This is the individual chosen to hold Heaven’s Wine.
This is the one that the Creator designed.
Beautiful, precious, valued so high the Angels strain to see,
All that the Creator plans to pour through those He has set free.
Great things are destined for every newborn life;
For they become the vessel that causes to the Father great delight!

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

I Will Climb Over Every Molehill By Brenda Drake

       I tend to cower at some of life’s situations.  I am amazed at some of the wonderful outcomes of situations that seemed impossible to me.  I know it is God’s provisions, strength, and ability that turn my mountains into molehills.

I Will Climb Over Every Molehill

The mountain turns a molehill before me.
When through God’s eyes I see.
What bars the way or my progress slows,
Cannot or will not hinder under His control.
My lack of resources proves when progress comes,
It is a work of divine-direction when all is done.
Mountains are moved out of my way,
So on God’s intended path I am able to stay.
When I waiver at the lack I see within,
Unsure and weak and do not know where to begin,
I remember the many times in the past;
When my Lord provided all I needed; then faith is back.
From His viewpoint I see clearly again,
Life’s hard mountain-climbs are not too difficult for Him.
With my heart at rest in His strength I the victory claim.
I will climb over every molehill in Jesus’ name.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand
of my righteousness.

King of My Mountain By Brenda Drake

Do you remember when young playing the rough and tough game King of the Mountain? I was King but it was not a very long reign!  I was overthrown pretty quickly. This poem states the mountain is my life willingly ruled by King Jesus the Lover of my soul.

King of My Mountain

You are the King of my mountain and in my heart too.
I bow low within and live by Your rules.
I am subject to Your desires for me, for it is for my good.
Because of Your presence my desire is to do as I should.
My days are numbered when times will change;
Where my living-arrangements are rearranged.
I move from this life to a life with Christ Jesus my King,
In this place of forever where my heart will forever sing.
Until then, my Lord we will together play life’s game:
King of my mountain there You will remain.
With Your help we will conquer every foe we face.
With Your Word all fear and doubt is erased.
With You high and lifted up what have I to fear?
You are more than enough, for You see far and near.
Every day is a new day to together life do.
Jesus, King of the mountain all praise, honor, and glory belongs to You.

Revelation 19:16
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Philippians 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
