You Are a Gift By Brenda Drake

Sample Poem from my Christian Inspirational and Motivational devotional Poetry book River of Life in Verse. available on Amazon $2;99 Kindle $11.99 Paperback $25.99 Hardcover

Jesus is our heavenly Father’s gift to us.  Jesus in us becomes the Gift we give to others.  They in turn become a gift offered up to the Father.  Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving.  Let us continue sharing Him till heaven’s rooms are filled.

You are a Gift

From the hand comes assistance, from the heart concern.
From the eyes comes a light of love that burns.
From the mouth praise and worship, and words that uplift;
For the life of the servant of God is a gift.
A gift worth more than they can ever know,
For they were bought by Love that bestows.
Man is a gift to man if he contains within God’s Son;
For because of his contents, he a gift becomes.
Do not withhold kindness, always share your smile,
Always give of yourself in self-denial
Always do the good work, never put the good thought aside,
For by actions, you prove to the dying world Jesus lives inside.
Your willing heart and hands does great service for the King.
Your kind words and singled-eye will a great harvest bring.
Reach out and touch someone in Jesus’ name,
For, by your faithful service you a gift became.
An endowment valued both by saved souls and God above.
A lovely gift filled with God’s own sweet love.

John 20:21
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

John 13:20
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Waves of Comfort By Brenda Drake

This is a page of my first book Waves of Comfort. Available for $1.99 Kindle and $22.95 Paperback on Amazon.

Waves of Comfort

When your heart is hurting, Come
Enjoy the Holy presence of God’s Son
The sweet loving touch of the Holy Comforter
Will heal and fix all your inner hurts
When the world has walked heavily upon you and has left you for dead
Come and allow the Comforter to show you how to forgive
When your mind is confused and you do not know the way to go
Come and allow the Word to guide – so you in the Spirit can flow
I’ll fill your heart with gladness and your mind with truth and power
So you can face any situation in the world’s last hour
Waves of comfort flow to you and through you to lift and to edify
Waves of God’s goodness is your eternal supply
Beauty for ashes, mourning is by joy replaced
All is provided by God’s provision of grace
Waves of God’s mercy flood the land
Flooding the hearts and minds of those that seek to understand
Great abundant floods of love
Come from the Lord above
Whatever you need, whatever you desire that’s good and fine
Will be provided in God’s time
Come and allow the Sweet Spirit to touch
You in your deepest need with His waves of love

II Thessalonians 2:15-17
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle  Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

Take of the Wrappers By Brenda Drake

This is a sample poem from my Christian Inspirational Poetry book In His Embrace available on Amazon in Kindle, $2.99 Paperback $8.99 and Hardcover. $14.99

Before Jesus I was proud to wear the mantle of pride. In ignorance I wore attitudes of selfishness, bitterness, and self-confidence. I was much more interested in primping my body’s attributes than care for the inner beauty of the spirit. Now I know what is on the inside is of more importance than what is on the outside.

Take off the Wrappers

When you pick a piece of candy out of a jar at the store;
The removed wrapper is not needed anymore.
The candy is deposited in its appointed place,
And the wrapper is tossed away.
Just so are unneeded coverings of earth.
The body is the wrap; the spirit within is of greater worth.
Discarded wrappers are not missed.
They have their purpose accomplished.
Your body is the temple; treat it well;
It houses the Spirit that will have a greater story to tell.
The flesh protects the treasure within placed
So the sweetness of the Savior another too may taste.
There are many coverings removed for God’s glory to shine.
Blankets of self-sufficiency are not in His design.
Layers of worry, anger, bitterness, and fear,
Need to be removed so God’s Word and presence appears.
Take off the wraps of pride and insecurity the same.
Don the robe of righteousness and God’s armor in Jesus name.

Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

1 Corinthians 3:16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Calm Your Troubled Sea by Brenda Drake

New sample from my newest devotional book of Christian poetry. Available on Amazon books in kindle, paperback, and hardcover.

In one of my tipsy-turvy times trying to figure out things on my own; I was not even able to pray because of the churning in my spirit.  The Lord revealed how really simple it is to get the peace back that I once enjoyed in His presence.  All it really takes is a humble heart that fully admits its inability to go it alone, and that truly repents of its self-assured ways.

Calm Your Troubled Sea

When within you it is not calm or at peace,
A storm rages, there is a troubled sea,
Your thoughts are uncertain; blowing with the wind,
Some wrong emotions are bottled up within.
Tossed to one side, then to another,
Rocking in a vessel but seeking cover,
But it is not a pleasant journey at all,
If you attempt to stand you stumble and fall.|
This is not a word of rebuke as you might suppose,
It is a word to assure you, all things God knows.
What can be done about this trouble within?
Admit your attitude is indeed sin.
Admit your faith needs working on,
And that you are weak not all that strong.
As for the troubled waters about you;
Something can be done for that too.
Jesus’ love provided your redemption.
He broke the chains and bondage of sin,
He deposited new authority to your new man.
He offers His name to make your demands.
In Jesus name, declare to the raging water, peace be still;
Perfectly fitting in the Father’s will.
The enemy will surely torment the heart that allows him too.
This need not be, heed this word is delivered to you.

John 16:23
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

To Walk and Talk with God By Brenda Drake

On page 18 in Waves of Comfort available on Amazon.

To Walk and Talk with God

To walk and talk with God to most is impossibility.
How can this happen if you cannot God see?
How can you listen to someone that does not make a sound?
And then show another the truth that you have found?
It is not impossible, although it is only possible by faith.
Its reality then is so sure, its confession you will not hesitate.
To walk with God is to be aware that He is near.
To talk with God is to know every word He hears.
To listen is to be still and allow self to die,
So you can hear the God that within you abides.
Trust and faith causes worry to the enemies around,
For they know you are walking on holy ground.
Your guide ( Holy Spirit) instructs and teaches God’s Word,
And your heart grasps the truth and practices what you have heard.
Man becomes what God has always planned him to be,
Not a separate being but a part of Him through eternity.
One heart and one mind, one through and through,
One day it will be stranger to not in God move.
Draw close and listen, and you will move in one accord.
You will be one of the ones that walk and talk with the Lord!

John 14:16-17
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be with you.

Gifts Unaware By Brenda Drake

This is a page in my new Daily Devotional called, God’s Whispers to the Heart. Available on Amazon in Kindle and Paperback.

November 21

Whisper: Watch for the gifts delivered each day.

Psalms 23:6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Gifts Delivered Unaware

Gifts are delivered unaware sometimes;
Lovely little things that later you find,
Are so precious when you detect them;
A present presented under closer inspection.
Gifts that cause contentment deep,
That makes special memories that you will keep.
They are kept safe in your special place;
To be brought out to enjoy at a later date.
Rarely are they seen by others the same way;
But precious in your heart they stay.
Watch for them, become aware;
Remind yourself that they show God cares.
Inspiration, encouragement, a word kind;
An unforgettable encounter with someone that is genuine;
A treasure of someone that enjoys to your life touch;
One that heeds your wisdom and pursues your love;
The suns warmth that feels like your Saviors embrace;
The caress of His gentle breeze upon your face;
The sweet songs of joy that rise from within and overflows;
These are all gifts from the One that watches over your soul.

Jesus, You are the Gift that keeps on giving all things good.
