Attitudes are Like the Clothes we Wear By Brenda Drake

In your closet you will see some of your very favorite
clothes – but you may only wear them on special occasions.|
Everyday clothes you put on without thought – they are just there and are convenient.
Some that you know fit you perfectly…. they are so comfortable you automatically and often put them on There are a few that you feel look the best on you… the colors or the style is very flattering.

Attitudes are like the clothes you wear;  some are put on or taken off because of the atmosphere around you.  (The heavy winter coat that is a blessing may feel like a curse in the heat.)

Attitudes are like the clothes you wear.  Most of us have a variety to choose from and it is our preference what we desire to put on.
Attitudes are like clothes we choose to wear. They can be comfortable, convenient, or necessary: some tattered old favorites and some just to be worn out in public.

Just like a much worn shirt needs to be cleansed – so do our attitudes.  Just like our clothes need to be repaired and mended… so do our attitudes.

Attitudes are like the clothes we wear.  What is your favorite attitude you wear in public?  What attitude do you wear most around the house?  When the winds or storms of life blow… what attitude do you put on?  Anger?  Fear?  Anxiety? Bitterness?  What is the attitude that you feel that looks best on you?  Which one fits your desire most?

If attitudes are like the clothes we wear… some of us need a whole new wardrobe!

Jesus has the perfect clothes prepared.  He clothes us in His robe of righteousness.  He is the One that will help cleanse our attitudes to glorify Him.

My prayer:  Lord put on me your goodness, and help me to remember to come often to the Living Water for a healthy drink of your love.  Help me also to remember that while I’m  there I need to clean up my attitudes too.  Here I am Lord cleanse me I pray.

Only You Can Glorify Him By Brenda Drake

Page 19 Waves of Comfort by Brenda Drake

My life purpose began the day I stepped out in faith to speak to God’s children with His messages of love and hope.  What a loving God we serve that chooses to use us to help others as He continues to help us.  It is my joy to serve God by sharing His love with others.  There are people that only you are able to touch with the love of God.

Only You Can Glorify Him

Glorify the Father by your life.
No one else is able to take your place to exalt Christ.
For you are unique, wonderfully made – no one else will do,
You are the only one that can fit in the place prepared for you.
Every man has a place purposed in the heart of God’s plan.
No one needs to stay outside the camp.
For every person is able to become
With God and in God as one.
Inside every man’s heart there is a void that needs to be filled,
That can only find satisfaction when doing as the Father wills.
To glorify Jesus, you need not perform.
However to glorify Him you need to be reborn.
Give your life to Him that gave His life for thee,
Submit to His ways as He planned to set you free.
To glorify Jesus – do all you can for right,
And rest assured Jesus is glorified by His work in your life.
This is the fulfilled and the most pleasant task;
When living to please the Savior and doing as He asks.
You glorify God every day,
When you lift up your love in worship and in praise.

Psalms 86:12-13
I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.  For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

Daddy I am Hurting By Brenda Drake

Probably my lack of a Father’s love as a child made it a lot harder to understand the great love of my heavenly Father.  I would find myself afraid every time I failed of His judgment falling like the hard rod I experienced from my earthly stepfather.
However, God is kind and gentle in His correction.  I love Him and want to please Him with all my heart.  The old sinful nature is constantly at war with my new walk.  I found early on that I needed to learn to repent.  My heavenly Father was and is still so patient with me.  I have learned that this is the love of my Abba Father… my daddy God.

Daddy I’m Hurting

Like a little child I come and pray:
Abba Father, I am hurting please take my pain away.
I know I have been foolish and not the way I should,
Daddy, help me to be good.
May I sit on your lap and rest awhile,
So I can feel the sunshine of your smile?
May I snuggle closer into your sweet care,
So You will comfort me and Your encouragement share?
I need to hide awhile in a safe shelter from the mighty winds that blow,
For sometimes I am uncovered in a world that is harsh and cold.
I need to draw Your strength and to be reassured
That our love is intact and in You I am secure.
Chase away all the doubts and fears so they will not stay.
Thank You for being with me every day.
Wrap Your arms around me Lord, and my confidence will increase
As You administer to my aching soul new abiding peace.
Thank You, my Lord, for dwelling my heart within,
So we can meet like this in prayer so I will be strong again.

Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Vessel By Brenda Drake

God knew me as a little troubled girl and He heard my cry.  He loved me before I loved Him.  In looking back I realize He constantly wooed and urged me to Him.  God paved the way to the cross where I would find salvation and would receive the Spirit of God within my heart.  God still tirelessly teaches, leads, and guides as He molds and shapes me to be His perfect without blemish bride.

The Vessel

The Creator beheld the lump of clay but saw the vessel within.
It was not just any vessel; it was to be made for Him.
Before it was He knew exactly how it would be,
He already had a plan that only He could see.
In fact He saw it even before it was the lump of clay,
The idea was always in His heart tucked away.
This vessel became tarnished and was taken from His grasp,
But the One that created all things paid the price He asked.
The vessel is made new and formed from within;
The born again soul is molded and shaped by Him.
Oh what a beautiful vessel made because of Christ.
He is the one that gave His life.
When man allows God full control,
He is made into the most precious vessel,
That will carry the Word of God for another to hear,
That gives to God all that is to him most dear.
This is the vessel chosen to hold heaven’s wine.
This is the vessel that the Creator designed:
Beautiful, precious, valued so high that the angels strain to see
All that the Creator plans to pour through thee.
Great things are destined for every newborn life,
For they become the one that causes to the Father great delight!

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

None Other Than By Brenda Drake

This is page 15 in Waves of Comfort book available on Amazon. It has 280 heart loving poems to warm your heart and instill hope, trust, and faith in everyday situations.

My husband was out for the night, my two small children were in bed, and I was relaxing in my recliner when a crusade came on television.  For the first time I saw the great terrible darkness within my soul.  I knew I needed a Savior.   I beheld the truth.  I truly comprehended Jesus Christ.  I understood who Jesus was and what He did for me.   My hard hurting heart was cracked open and the Light entered in!   I believed!  What a great day, I was forgiven and I was saved!

None Other Than

Who takes a heart that is black,
Cleans it up, makes new and then gives it back?
None other than Jesus God’s Son;
It is by His work that this is done.
Who makes sadness turn to joy and gives peace instead of despair?
None, other than the Son of God, that is just and fair.
Who created the heavens? Who made the sun and parted the sea?
Who is it that will stand when all others fall on their knees?
None other than the God, that is, and always has been.
Jesus, the Christ who soon comes again.
Who will one day stand and look into their Savior’s eyes?
The ones who have Him in their hearts, as in Him they abide.
The child of God will one-day reign with Him through all eternity,
They will sing salvation’s songs as they rest at His feet!
Jesus picks now the jewels in His crown,
And He refuses to put them down.
His bride- to cherish forever more!
All glory to Jesus, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Daddy I Am Hurting By Brenda Drake

This is a childlike poem out of my first poetry book called Waves of Comfort still available on Amazon. it is on page 25 of 270 page book. We have a wonderful heavenly Father that is not only loving but also so very patient with us. He is our Abba Father ( our Daddy God!)

Who Needs a Doctor, Who Needs a Friend by Brenda Drake

I had a great hunger and thirst for God, and I needed a doctor, and  a friend. I am thankful someone took time to show me the way to find Him.

Who Needs a Doctor

Who needs a doctor?  Who needs a friend?
Who is it that is poor in spirit within?
What man is hungry? Does he thirst too?
Can this one find what he lacks when he comes to you?
Are you filled with the indwelling Christ?
Is He able to minister through your life?
His love refills and restores, His strength empowers
So great is His desire to upon His chosen His blessings shower.
If you need a doctor…if you need a friend;
If you are poor in spirit come freely to receive again.
He will not hold back in anger nor will He turn away.
For He needs many more laborers, to help show the lost the way.

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
Psalms 103:3-6

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me
Matthew 25:35-40

Searching By By Brenda Drake

Truly all I ever searched for is found in the knowledge, and in my decision to follow Jesus. I am now searching the vast wonders of the love of God.

Searching

Men gather riches in their search for peace,
They explore in many places for wisdom to increase.
They walk many miles making their way in life;
But what they need to search for, is the way of Christ.
Searching for purpose in a world with no lasting future for them;
Searching for the comfort of a lasting friend;
Searching for truth …the meaning of life;
There is constant search for what is wrong and right;
And what does or does not belong;
Searching for the ability to remain young, healthy and strong.
I have good news to tell those that are in the search still;
There is one name that will the whole search fulfill.
Jesus…He is the truth, life and the way.
He is the Prince of peace and your friend to stay.
He is the most strong that all things can do.
He, by His work on the cross-made the way for you.
He is what the soul searches for.
He is King of kings and Lord of lords.
Jesus gives new purpose and is the provision for all your needs.
He the future that shines bright and He is the one that leads.
Jesus is the answer to every need or question within.
He is the One that died and lives and soon comes again.
Man’s search is over when he comes to the cross;
He then will be a light to help assist in the search of the lost.
Eternity ahead shines like diamonds on the streets of gold;
 A forever place where the riches of Christ unfold.
Where youth and vitality remain, for of Christ you are a part;
One forever, in loves light, standing heart to heart.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Matthew 7:7

Be Encouraged By the Word By Brenda Drake

Jesus is the Word of God.  When we get our eyes and heart on Him how could we not be encouraged in whatever situation we find ourselves in.

Be Encouraged By the Word

Downcast eyes with heart heavy or sad?
Are your thoughts unhappy?  Have you lost the joy you had?
Is hope is hiding, playing games with your mind?
You need to concentrate on God’s Word and with it realign.
Your future dreams have become lost in the fog of today.
Like on the wings of the wind they have flown away.
What sort of God is it you serve?
Do you not believe His Word?
Pick up your cross and follow after God’s Son.
Know His will in your life will be done.
Lift eyes in confidence, watch for the sign as small cloud in the sky;
That shows God’s answer is close by.
Renew your faith…read God’s Word.
Remember the encouraging words that you have heard.
Your future is brighter than you can see today.
It is much more productive in every way.
Walk in Jesus’ steps… thank Him for what He’s already done.
Thank Him with confidence at the good that is yet to come.

The law of his God is in his heart;
none of his steps shall slide.

Psalms 37:31

And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.
1 King 18:44

Make a Splash By Brenda Drake

September 22 page in my daily devotion book God’s Whispers to the Heart available on Amazon.

Whisper: Make a difference, take a stand for good.

1 Peter 4:10 -11
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever.

Colossians 4:5
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

Make a Splash

Stir the waters make a splash.
In the dark seas of the world let others know where you are at.
Speak out against sin,
Use your words to glorify God again.
In this place of liberty harsh winds may still blow,
But in the storm remember the One who is in control.
Exercise the freedom of speech while you can.
Redeem the time; for God’s principals stand.
There is a time to be peaceful; to go with the flow;
This is the time to speak against the evil that threatens your soul.
Be bold in the authority and in the strength of Christ.
Make a difference in the surroundings of your life.
Make a difference; make a stand for good right where you are at.
Stir up the waters in your world make a splash!

I will boldly stand and say I am a follower of Christ; I believe and adhere to the Word of God.
