I love flowers. I am not a gardener. My love of flowers does not come from my efforts. God is the gardener of our soul. He is the beauty that flowers from within us. Oh how sweet is the love of God, He deserves all the praise and glory.
Flowers from a Hopeful Heart
Like the sweet aroma of a willing rose, Is the praise of a heart that God’s Word knows. Hopeful hearts see the sun shine ahead on a rainy day. Though cloudy on the outside they are warmed by inner rays. Another flower that comes from the heart of hope, Is the sure knowledge God is in control. The sweet assurance of His love and care, Is another flower of hope with another to share. Flowers from a hopeful heart walk at a steady pace, Under the sure covering of God’s mercy and grace. They live in His anointing and of His nourishment partakes. Lights in the dark world all the difference makes. An encouraging word, a loving timely rebuke, A helping hand in time of need; are all flowers delivered too. There is sweet aroma of a life whose hope is in God above. They bloom in the land; seeds planted in the garden of love.
Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Although I am unable to swim I love to be near water. There is a certain undefinable peace that brings comfort to the soul. There is no greater peace than the day we go to the River of Life, for then the Living water flows from within.
Come to the River
Come to the River; take a drink from its sweet flow. It will renew and refresh your soul Replace the cup of bitterness for the gift of grace, Dip into its healing waters that heal in its embrace. Allow the the air of perfection to surround you like a cloud. Permit the joy of a saved soul to in praise cry aloud. Allow the heartbeat of God to beat deep inside. Come to the clear waters to reside. Travel with the Most High offer your life to Him. Return often to the healing waters again and again. Keep eyes open for another that needs strength of soul. Lead them to the One that makes new and whole. God’s love is constant, so great is the supply. It flows forever and is always nearby. In Jesus is the River, as you live your life for Him; You will never thirst in your soul for the River flows within.
Psalms 36:8-9 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light
John 7:37-38 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
I remember well the first day I allowed God to love me. After a hard day, alone with children tucked in bed, relaxed in recliner with no remote at hand, the evangelist came on television. I was too lazy to get up and change the channel. What a great day it turned out to be. For the first time I learned of the sad, hopeless condition of my soul. I became aware of the wonderful love of God and His provision in my behalf. The amazingly beautiful gift of salvation through Jesus’ work on the cross becomes crystal clear each time I spend time in His presence in praise, worship, and prayer
Allow God to Love You
Allow God to love you, listen to this word of rhyme. Give Him your attention, share with Him your time. Rest your weary mind, enjoy the encouragement He gives. Allow the Spirit to soothe your soul, so without fear you can live. Take the peace of the Savior; let it sing to you its sweet song. Let joy flow forth inside you to make you strong. Tear down the walls of bitterness, and the towers of pride. Allow the forgiving Spirit to reign inside. Rest in the Holy Scriptures, learn it promises and believe in them. Allow the love of Christ to warm you from within. Bring the sins that the enemy piles high on your back, And allow God to throw them in the sea intact. Trust in the One that loves you more than words can say. Give Him your life and your problems and fears dissolve away.
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
If you have never asked Jesus to be your Lord, this is the perfect time. It is so very simple, first, admit you are a sinner, and are in need of a Savior. Believe and accept what He did for you, and ask Jesus to enter your heart and to live His life in you. He is faithful; you will never be sorry for your decision!
I use to beat myself up for not acting the way I felt was acceptable to glorify God, and would help others recognize the Good News of Salvation. Little by little it has sunk in I will never be a perfect example of what a Christ-follower should be. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus and a perfect example of God’s love and provision of salvation and grace.
Sometimes I Fail
Sometimes I fail and fall short of what I should be. And many flaws in my character I see. My shortcomings are so clear, If I dwell on them I begin to fear I know at times my light shines dim. And I need it seems to start all over again. But when I begin to feel low, Lord Your love again begins to flow. You show me my value in Your eyes. And remind me of Your sacrifice. When You administer Your sweet touch, It heals the brokenness and fills me up. When I am weakest, You are my strength. When my soul thirsts, You give me drink. When I am overburdened You carry my part. When lonely You remind me, You are in my heart. When I fall You still do not cast me aside. In my dark failures You see my heart’s cry. In my circumstances, and the flaws that disgrace; You see perfection, filtered through grace. Help me Lord to not be discouraged, but to strive to overcome. So I am a glory to Jesus when my life is done
Psalms 32:5-7 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah
Many times I have wanted to give more, and to do more than I could. I would begin to feel nothing I did or said was ever enough. But one day in frustration I cried Lord I don’t have anything to give but my life. That was the one thing that honors and pleased Him the most. We love Him with our life.
Love with Your Life
Even if we don’t have anything of great value to bestow, In the wealth of silver or gold; What we value and have we can bring. Offer your Lord everything. Our heart Lord, our home, and our family All we are now and all we ever will be, We only have this day Lord to offer to You; All we say and all we will do In obedience we prove our love for our King. We offer to Him every song we sing Each breath is a gift of life You give to set us free. We will love You with our life eternally We are seeped in Your favor from every side, For You bless, lead and guide and call us Your bride. We love You with our life …it is true For in Your sweet Spirit we breathe and continuously move.
Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
When we practice the presence of God the dark world and its problems, fade in the light of His love. What a lovely, wonderful place, its value is more than all the worlds riches!
In the Lap of Love
When you struggle to your feet, and each step is slowed; There is something that you need to know. Your burden is too heavy, get on your knees within, And I will lift you up into the lap of love again. When you are hurting and your armor has been misplaced, And you feel weak, come I’ll lift you into My embrace. Confess yours sin of unforgiveness and you will be, Lifted within as My strength you receive. When drained and discouraged in your toil, And your garments of praise have become soiled, Come, I’ll refresh you with a new supply. I’ll lift you up and fill you with fresh joy so you are not dry. Perhaps you feel lonely and need a friend to speak to; Come, I’ll lift you up in my lap of love – I will listen to you. The love of God calls out “Come, I will fill you up” “It is My desire to show you love” “Just come and rest – come at any time” “You do not need a reason when you are Mine” When a small child appears and simply lays upon your chest, There is great comfort to your soul as they rest. Just so the Father’s heart yearns for you to draw near; Come at any time child, never approach in fear. When lifted to the lap of love peace will satisfy your soul. For in this place of luxury, you know beyond a doubt who is in control!
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
I love the smell of flowers but dead flowers do not inspire my heart to sing. God loves all of His creation, but He hates the stench of sin. He made it possible for us to smell good again. It is our choice to keep our life alive by obeying the Word and by repenting and by turning from our wicked ways.
Fragrance of Life or Death
There is no mistaking the difference, everyone can tell; Life and death has different smells. Look around at what you hear, taste, and see; Are they life-giving things or do they stink? Gossip may seem a tasty morsel but it brings death. It has no life-giving promise to expect. Hurtful words that hang heavy in heart and mind, Have a terrible scent that is hard to take sometimes. To God there is an aroma sweet to hear, taste, and see. His affection is constant for those who His help receives. Obedience along with honor and respect for others, Is the perfume of Jesus, your soul-lover. Jesus is life. He gives life to the lost, He draws from death to new life at the cross. There is no mistaking the difference when you come, The stench of death is replaced by the fragrance of God’s Son.
2 Corinthians 2:14-15 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Prayer is a time of placing our needs and the needs of others before a loving God. It is a time of singing the praises of our Lord and Savior. It is a time to rest in the loving ministrations of a most loving God. Sometimes I spend a long time in God’s presence, and other times it is a very quick time making my requests. Always it is a time of speaking and listening. It is good no matter how long or how short the prayers are. In fact there are times I don’t speak at all, and God still hears all I do not say. The bible tell us to pray for our leaders, and our Country, Jesus told us to pray “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Repentance, forgiveness and genuine love and concern for others gives us lots to pray about. Prayer needs not be as a chore to get done, but instead a constant ;oving conversation between us and the God that never tires of hearing our voice,
Easy To the Point Prayers
When time is at essence brevity of prayer is best There is no need to form long, complicated requests. God sees the problem you asking to be solved, Your prayer invites Him to be involved. Life was meant to be a sharing between God and man; With a free flow always was the plan. Free and easy and fully comfortable to do, With no great maze of things needed to go through. Like a child and their loving father upon the earth would ask. They would climb up and rest upon their daddy’s lap, Knowing full well they had his attention, Knowing they could trust in his good intentions. They are sure of his love and know he will do his best. So they ask and believe they will receive, and then they put it to rest. Their hugs and kisses seal the deal made between them. Then they run off to play with their friends. The child of God that knows he is loved is not afraid. They do not need to practice what they must do or say. They do not approach the throne with fearful attempts. They know their God is for them not against. Long repetitious prayers are a waste to hear. Causing dishonor to the God that desires you to draw near. When in worship and in praise and thanksgiving you will find Heaven kisses your spirit with assurance and gives you peace of mind.
Matthew 6:7-8 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
When we focus on the world’s circumstances, life at times feels dark and hopeless. Our attitude and outlooks are our choice. It is also our choice whether or not to believe the Word of God’s promise. Salvation is a bright light that pierces the darkness of our soul. When we abide in Jesus He floods hearts with love, promise, and hope; that causes life-altering shifts of joy and deep assuring peace deep within.
Abide in Me
When your day ends and night begins, Although the sun is not seen it still shines my friend. When you open a door the light shines through, Its sheen enters unless the door is closed by you. But the light is still there. It does not change a bit; But the shut up room loses its benefits. A tender green branch promises fruit ahead, A severed limb without life’s source is dead. A branch may stay green awhile, but without strength; When not connected to the vine, its fruit dry up and shrink. Withered dry branches becomes a waste, To be thrown in the burn pile- disgraced. The Son that shines upon you never stops His shine. When I have called you; you are mine. When connected to the true vine, good fruit expect, Even in the world’s harsh elements. There is nothing able to steal this one from me, For I watch over my chosen jealously. But all do have free choice; I do not force to love me. I desire to be wanted and to be the source of every need. So great is the desire for their Lord. A seeking bride that waits to be with the one she adores, My arms are open; I am calling out to thee. Open your heart’s door for the Light to enter as you abide in me.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
When I think of all the wonderful promises that lie ahead when my Lord Jesus returns; my heart soars with a great indescribable joy. Then I am reminded by the Holy Spirit, He is always working right now in our everyday life. Several times I have experienced His delivered beauty instead some of my life’s discouraging ashes.
Ashes; Blown Away by the Wind
Yesterday’s ashes blow away in the wind; gathered no more to be kept; For the flower of tomorrow has no room for any of it. The deep lines of worry etched by time on the face, Are blown away; they too are forever erased. The heavy thoughts that fight to surface now and then; They too are blown away by the wind. Pain, and despair, fears and shame, And every other discomfort that torments by any other name; All are ashes. All are discarded they are useless to keep. Ashes are everything that causes the heart to weep. Until this glorious day there is instruction wise, Fill your mind with Jesus, look into His eyes. Look into the promises in God’s Word. When you practice daily a new truth occurs, He indeed shares His beauty and places it within, Ashes are not kept there they are blown away by the wind.
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
