Gifts Accepted By Brenda Drake

Gifts Accepted

What would you think if someone received your gift,
And then attempted to pay for it?
You would think it silly and a waste,
If they insist, to the giver they cause disgrace.

God by Jesus’ sacrifice has offered you many things;
Countless gifts of promise He brings.
The greatest promise is Salvation for the soul.
Because of what Jesus did you are whole.
It is done, it is finished; you need only to believe.
Salvation is sure when it is received.

To give thanks and praise is all you need to do.
So great is this gift bestowed on you.
You cannot repay the Master for Salvation.
You cannot earn what He has done.
His love extended to die in your place.
Great is the gift of grace.

Under grace’s cover there are more gifts bestowed;
They are of much more valuable than silver or gold.
Gifts of guidance, provision, and care,
Gifts of His peace and joy are also with you shared.
The gift of accountability as He takes control,
Gifts of knowledge are shared to enrich and make you whole.
To worry or fear, at what lie ahead, is to try to a gift pay.
For it states God is unable to do as He says.
Accept His gift, rest in His love and care for thee,
Then you are walking in the gift of life with the spirit free.

Romans 3:24
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Prayer
Forgive me when I worry, I know You are able to lead and guide my path.  Thank You for Your wonderful, generous gifts of love and provision. I will forever be grateful for the wonderful gift of Salvation!

Have a Good Christmas By Brenda Drake

            Jesus is the greatest gift ever bestowed upon man.  We celebrate the Christ’s birth by giving gifts to one another.  With him dwelling inside we are able to become a gift delivered from God.

Have a good Christmas.

From the hand should come assistance, from the heart… concern
From the eyes… a light of love should burn
From the mouth…. praise and worship, and words that uplift
The life of the child of God is a gift
A gift worth more than they know
For they were bought by Love that God bestowed
Man is a gift to man if within is God’s Son
Because of his contents… he a gift becomes
Do not withhold kindness, always share your life
Give of yourself,  as you practice self-sacrifice
Always do the good work, never put the good thought aside
By actions you prove to the dying world Who lives inside
Your willing heart and hands can do great service for the King
Your kind words and singled eye will a great harvest bring
Reach out and touch someone in Jesus’ name
For by your faithful service, you’ve a gift became
A lovely gift valued both by man and God above
A lovely gift filled with God’s own sweet love

Jerimiah 17:10
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

John 20:21
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

When Christmas Hurts By Brenda Drake

This is truly a wonderful time of year; even strangers seem to have ready smiles and greetings of good cheer.  In our excitement and bustle we forget Christmas time is lonely for many around us; life-situations have caused hurts and heartaches that have stolen the beauty of their holiday. Lord, help us to be aware of the feelings of others and remind us to lift their spirits by our prayers, love, and concern.

When Christmas Time Hurts

When Christmas-time hurts and joy has fled far away,
And there is no magic left in this once-special day.
All the sweet songs that once cheered now cause sadness within.
Oh how you would love to find pleasure in them again.
The hurting heart remembers sadly its personal loss,
And refuses to be cheered so their mind is cross.
Held in a prison unable to look outside to see,
The gift of the Christmas story that sets them free.
When Christmas-time hurts there is remedy to heal;
Its power is sure, its touch is real.
Find another person that has a heart that is down,
Do something, anything that removes their frown.
Find a little child that has lack,
Provide for them and your joy comes back.
Get your mind in things good, right, pure and true;
Set yourself to motion to the good thing do.
Bring your aching heart to the Father for His healing touch.
Renew your faith as you to Him entrust;
All the hurts, pains of this time of year,
Little by little the sweet joy and peace of Christmas reappears.

Luke 2:13-14
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Sweet Comforts of Joy By Brenda Drake

There are so many times when my heart has been warmed by the touch of the Holy Spirit since I became a Christian.  The joys of Salvation are too numerous to count.  But here are some of the sweet comforts of joy that floods the hearts of those that belong to Jesus.

Sweet Comforts of Joy

Sweet comforts of joy flood the soul,
When the treasures of God unfold.
What are the treasures of a saved soul?
They are the sweet comfort of joy under God’s control.
Such as peace in the midst of a stormy time,
When the world’s ways trouble and boggle the mind.
The sure knowledge all is well within;
And that you are well-pleasing to the God that calls you friend.
The Word that you count on for wisdom supply;
It is like a river of refreshing-water that never goes dry.
God’s willing ear that hears every word you say;
And the sweet assurance and comfort after you pray.
The future that shines like diamonds on a crystal sea;
That beckons with hope and mystery.
The lights of love in your brother’s eye;
The sure hope and provision of God’s supply.
The thrills of the thought of Christ’ return;|The eternal gratitude of Salvation unearned;
And the sweet loving sound of forever’s eternal plan,
That the mind stretches to see and to understand.
Sweet comforts of joy for those who belong to God above,
All are reminders of the truth they are well loved.

1 Peter 1:8-9
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Dance Worth Your Soul’s Lover By Brenda Drake

The songs of Salvation are now a real part of my life.  My heart, mind, and spirit are in tune with my Lord, and I desire to move in step with the Holy Spirit that leads the way. When the world begins to jangle my spirit I know it is time to get back into the Word of God and to lift up the praises due to His name.

Dance with Your Soul’s Lover

Dance with your Soul’s Lover as you listen to His Word.
Rejoice in your exalted position, obey what you’ve heard.
Live life at its fullest, enjoy God’s sweet caress;
He that loves you watches out for your best.
Practice His presence, learn what pleases Him.
Walk in the Spirit as He leads and guides from within.
Take time to worship and sing songs of praise and you will see,
 His strength and His power you receive.
Prepare your heart for change and dedicate your life to serve;
Be also a soul-lover and teach what you have heard,|
Plant seeds of righteousness and seeds of peace too,
And seeds of goodness will grow up inside of you.
Dance like David danced before his King.
Allow the love of Jesus to cause your heart to sing.
Love will pick you up and carry you into eternal-life anew;
To be one forever with Jesus; the Word, that was planted deep in you.

Psalms 149:3
Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

2 Samuel 6:14
And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

Whisper: I will never leave or forsake you.

Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God in Your Darkest Place

In the saddest place, in the place where terror strikes;
In the darkest place where there seems to be no light;
In the place of mass-destruction where confusion fills the air;
Where nothing seems right and nothing seems fair;
In the greatest valley where the sun does not seem to shine;
Or in the loneliest place you could ever find;
In the place of hard decision where is agony of the soul,
When it seems it is easier to of sanity let go;
The place of heart-break where life is no longer fun;
When the future looks bleak and there is nowhere to run;
In this place or any other, no matter what you feel is true;
Your God has not forsaken or abandoned you.
I AM will take the terrible pain away,
And there will again be sunshine in your day.
Love surrounds, fills, and delivers you; victory is ahead.
Be assured of the great future prepared as you are by the Spirit led.

Lord you are always faithful and my help in times of trouble.

Whisper: Want to meet me in our special place?

Matthew 6:6
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly

Get in the Closet and Shut the Door

When the world weighs heavy and the noise rings loud,
And the path is cluttered and you feel lost in the crowd,
It is time to go to the closet and shut the door,
And pour your heart out to the Lord.
Sing with fervor at all He has done for you.
Sing aloud as in the Spirit you move.
Really sing and lift praises up high,
So, the sound of your heart fills the sky.
Lose yourself in worship and you will find,
Your true self is found in this precious time.
Your voice will carry its message on Spirit wings,
As a beautiful gift delivered to the King.
His favor falls on you and settles deep within.
Your world becomes at peace again.
Gone, is the heavy load and the loud clamor in your ear;|
The clutter from you heart and mind has disappeared.
You do not feel you are lost in a crowd anymore,
For you have found favor and the full attention of your Lord,

Oh, how much better I feel when I spend time in God’s presence.

The Whole Picture By Brenda Drake

We seek to see the whole picture; little by little, one scripture revelation after another.  God’s ways are so far above our understanding but as we are brought into His confidence more and more of His ways are revealed.  I love the Word of God; I love the truth that set me free to trust my future in God’s very capable hands.

The Whole Picture

The whole picture from that start to end,
In its wonder God’s plan comprehend,
His beautiful creation stolen by the enemy of the soul.
Evil rebelled and grasped to take control.
Evil’s hold held promise of eternal death,
But God had a plan for eternal benefit.
Jesus; Creator, and God’s Son,
Became man born to a virgin, to become,
The holy Sacrifice that would take man’s place;
By His work on the cross He provided grace.
He was Teacher, Preacher, The Truth, and The Way,
He was the Word of God that was prophesied and portrayed;
He is Lord, Savior, and King to all who will believe.
He is new life to all who will His life receive.
He lived, died, and rose again so you could be free and new.
His gift of forgiveness is free to you.
But the cost was more than we can ever know.
He became sin so holiness we could behold.
The whole picture is not finished yet,
But when His; better things yet expect.
God is with you never again to depart.
He is permanent resident inside your heart.
You are one with the One who calls you bride.
You are drawn into the eternal story full, filled, and alive.
To see the whole picture as Father planned for you.
Rest in the gift of salvation provided as in Him you breathe and move.

Acts 17:27-28
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Heart Ready and Mind Set By Brenda Drake

We are instructed in God’s Word to pray.  There is much to pray for.  We need to lift up all our petitions with a heart willing to let them rest at the foot of the cross.  God hears and answers prayers that align with His Word,  In Jesus name we pray.

Heart Ready and Mind Set

Heart is ready, mind is set, and spirit prepared to go,
To meet with Jesus, the lover of my soul.
Even in my expectation I find,
There is some hesitation at the same time.
My heart is heavy with concerns of the world’s plight,
As terrible doom seems to now loom in sight.
My mind spins at fallacies in the land,|
And at the blatant evil that has overtaken man.
My spirit groans as does the earth in its travail for change,
I yearn for a revival to things rearrange.
I pray for blind eyes to see and for deaf ears to hear.
I pray those dead in their sins to be drawn near.
I pray for the touch of God to invoke our lives,
Where men are men that choose the ways right.
I pray for true repentance where change is forever true.
I pray for safety on the streets and again in the schools.
I pray for the fire of God to revive the Church to become,
Truly a holy living representative of God’s Son.
I pray that there is a greater desire to God’s Word obey.
And that multitudes more sing God’s praise night and day,
I pray every heart is ready with mind set for the spirit to go,
Into the arms of the God that proved He is the lover of every soul.

John 14:13-18
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son”.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
 Pray without ceasing.

If I Had a Canvas White By Brenda Drake

This poem is in my new daily devotional book released on Amazon, titled God’s Whispers to the Heart By Brenda Drake

Whisper: You are the work of my hand.

1 Peter 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

If I Had a Canvas White

If I had a canvas white,
Where I could paint a picture of my life;
I wonder would I be honest and paint in the things,
That I do not like or are not pleasing to my King?
Or would my picture only show,
What I want the world to know?
I think it would be a boring picture that no one could relate too;
Bland and uninteresting, and easily looked through.
But God is the Master painter …He paints it as it is.
Everything we see as a shadow is expertly finished as His.
Every hurt and trouble is lovingly painted in;
But it still is made into a life that glorifies Him.
He is still at work; each day an added stroke with expert hand.
My life is His now and I am already signed by I AM.
Nothing is hidden I am transparent before Him I adore.
That the world gets a glimpse of Him within me is what I am living for.

One day we will in awe behold the masterpiece You have created!
