When the Heart Stops By Brenda Drake

            The joy of the Lord is my strength; my life is full, and holds promise and purpose.  However I remember clearly when I felt dead, dark, and weak.  I found little satisfaction in my life.  I still have difficult times but I am led by the Holy Spirit and my heart is able to soar with the hope of the promise of new life in each day’s start.

When the Heart Stops

When the heart stops there is certain death.
Life as you know it no longer can you expect.
Many have already given up in life;
Their heart still ticks but something just is not right.
The heart has no hope and joy has fled.
They cannot bear to look back and do not desire to look ahead.
Hearts throb with the dull beat of despair;
In a world dark with broken dreams and things unfair.
When the heart of hope stops…death makes its claim.
There is one remedy; it rests in Jesus’ name.
Jesus is Life, The Truth and The Way.
Place your hope in Him – He is the Word for your day.
Because of Jesus and all He has done,
There is victory ….the battle is already won!
Despair is very wretched and should never be.
Trust Jesus; depression’s dark existence will not overtake thee.
Then when the heart truly stops beating and you walk on the other side,
Joy continues for the “Heartbeat of Heaven” forever within you abides.

John 14:6;
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh
 unto the Father, but by me.

John 5:25-26
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself

A Strange Thing Occurs By Brenda Drake

Stand of the plan of God at all times.

        My feelings have been like a roller coaster ride.  I really never like roller-coasters by the way.  Hope then fearful, beginning to think I understand and then complete confusion.  Light at the end of the tunnel and then it seemed to be blocked again.  Oh my, but for God and His sure touch on my life.

A Strange Thing Occurs

Father, the world is talking loud threats;
Of sure difficulty ahead, and even more death.
My heart hurts at the loss I see on every side;
From financial strain in families of those who died.
Confusing mind-blowing, whistle-blowing words, circle and attack.
It seems there is very little we can know are facts.
In my quiet times when I travel to God’s Word,
A very strange and wonderful thing occurs.
My heart is settled as in Your care I rest.
Again I find the truth and it again I confess.
My God is able and on Him I depend;
All things, on earth and in heaven, bows down to Him.
I am firmly in His sight and on His mind.
He loves me to spend with Him some time.
Life’s complications are calmly handled the best way.
The outcome of it all is already portrayed.
God is in control, it is already written what will come.
So in Jesus’ name I pray Lord, thy will be done;
In my life, and in the world that seems to be in such chaos and woe.
I will listen instead to the Spirit of God that brings peace and confidence again to my soul.

Proverbs 19:21
There are many devices in a man’s heart;
nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea,
I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Love Spoke into My Darkness By Brenda Drake

These are indeed dark times; our world is under great siege on every side with sickness, death, and emotional and financial difficulties. It is very hard to imagine the possible prolonged amount of time it may take for our economy’s recovery. As we watch we will see love is on all sides speaking in our gloom just as Jesus expresses His love and provision for each one of us in our spiritual blackness.

Love Spoke into My Darkness

When young I remember marveling over the beauty of the butterfly.
It was so pretty watching how it would rise up to the sky.
I didn’t know about God…my eyes were blind;
But He left little treasures like this for me to find.
Little by little I began to wonder about things unclear,
As my seeking heart was prepared; God drew near.
It is strange now when looking back,
I didn’t have any idea of my darkness; but God knew where I was at.
He kept me pretty busy searching for what I did now know,
And then one day He revealed the darkness of my soul.
At the revelation my life was rearranged.
When I saw His great gift of salvation my life was forever changed.
He has never stopped giving me His gifts along the way.
He still speaks into my heart and His Word lights the way.

Psalms 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament
 sheweth his handywork.

What Time is it? By Brenda Drake

What Time is it?

Heavy hearts, awakened very early on that day;
Before, the light arrived in its morning display.
They remembered; with eyes opened wide,
The past events, when the Master was alive.
How can it be, that it is now time to attend
To the dead body, of their dear friend?
……….
What time is it? The modern one now asks on Easter morn;
Before the early service, when the sun-rise the sky adorns?
…………
One …had a heavy heart,
That made sad preparations at the days start.
The other has heart glad….in expectation they see
The stories unfold; that they have committed to memory.
They see by faith, the Angel that appeared.
The wonder of Jesus; brings them to grateful tears.
He has risen! Their songs fill the air.
The stones been rolled away, and no one is there!
By faith, their observance has brought it near.
The truth of God’s love again reappears.
………
What time is it is asked again?
As you start the day revived and renewed within.
Your Lord has risen! What have you to fear?
It is time to allow your life to show, the time is near,
For His return; when He gathers His faithful bride.
When the Father says, “Son, it’s time to draw her to your side”

Acts 1:11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye

Life Giving Waters By Brenda Drake

            It is normal in our troubled times; with all the bad news and dire predictions of the future, to feel under pressure.  We strive to adapt to the unwelcome changes in our life, and fearfully face the prospect of our new normal.   We are saddened at the dreadful state of many of the  elderly, sick, and poor at home and abroad.  Hearts cry at the terrible conditions our doctors, nurses and  countless unsung heroes are daily facing.  The Word of God teaches and assures even when we experience anxiety and stress and feel out of control; God is in control.  We need to remember, as we follow Him and practice faith, trust, and prayer in Jesus’ name; He never fails to heal hurting hearts. He always gives the strength and ability to do whatever we are called to do.  This poem calls us to Come to His life-giving waters.

Life Giving Waters

Come to the River of Life

Flowing water is a welcome sight to see,
When the ground is parched and it moisture needs
Water brings abundance to the lifeless place.
New life will rise up from the dry place.
Flower’s spring forth; aroma fills the air.
Singing birds dwell in brush growing there.
Joy delivered from God…His goodness abounds,
When life-giving water touches dry ground
As this is, a soul is; when they are thirsting within,
 Living Water makes new-life again.
The life of the thirsty man is made whole.
They are eternally thankful when brought to the river’s flow.
 Springs of joy cause the blooms of praise and worship inside;
Peace fills the air where the Lord abides.
God’s love the redeemed again wish to share;
His beauty is yet to be compared.
Come to the water drink some more
Drink freely of the provision provided by the Lord

Psalms 63:1-5
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
