Peaceful Pete By Brenda Drake

Some ugly and great emotions have been given a name.  This poem tells of Angry Andrew and Peaceful Pete.
Hope its message is clear. We do not need to nurture or entertain anger when we follow after Jesus.

Peaceful Pete

Angry Andrew comes knocking at Peaceful Pete’s door
Peaceful Pete says I’m sorry I do not entertain you anymore
But Peaceful Pete must be careful for when he turns his back
Angry Andrew can easily slip through the cracks
He knows all about him, he has been burned by anger’s fire
But since he met Jesus and has His Spirit acquired
He has the ability in Jesus’ name
To conquer – the Living Water has put out the angry flames!

Psalms 34:14
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

Romans 5:1
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Romans 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Defeated by Prayer By Brenda Drake

The world is full of information, some false and some true.  It can become tiresome and confusing to say the least.  But one thing I know, God has the final word.  Jesus is the Word. The Word of God tells us and shows us the power of prayer. There is great authority when we pray for God’s will be done, in Jesus’ name.

Defeated by Prayer

A fist full of reasons why something should or should not be done,
Are all made as nothing by one word from God’s Son.
Lazarus was buried; wrapped up tight to stay.
But when Jesus spoke he had to obey.
The stench of death was faced,
However by a word from God it was erased.
The mourners were wailing; his death was declared,
But they were stilled, proved wrong by one word of prayer.
The unbelievers were many but that did not mean a thing;
Nothing stops the will of Christ Jesus the King.
The fist full of facts did not stop God’s plan.
No one that was present that day could fully understand,
But the hearts that were touched were many that day.
As death’s cold hand was pushed away.
It was not time for the departure of the brother of Martha and Mary.
It was turned about; they could not yet Lazarus bury.
Just so are those that falsely declare
The death of a Nation; these too are defeated by prayer.

Mathew 6:10
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Isaiah 35:4-5
Say to them that are of a fearful heart,
Be strong, fear not:
behold, your God will come with vengeance,
even God with a recompence;
he will come and save you.
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Calm Your Troubled Sea By Brenda Drake

In one of my tipsy-turvy times when trying to figure things out on my own; because of the churning in my spirit I was not even able pray.   The Lord revealed how to get back the peace I once enjoyed in His presence.  All it really takes is a humble heart that fully admits its inability to go it alone, and that truly repents of it sins and its self-assured ways.
When we trust and speak the truth of the Word of God , we are able to effectivly use the name of Jesus in our prayer requests.  Even if we do not have all the answers we can know God is in control. We are able to rest in His care and will for our life.

Calm Your Troubled Sea

A storm rages, there is a troubled sea,
Within you it is not calm or at peace.
Your thoughts are uncertain; blowing with the wind,
Some wrong emotions are bottled up within.
Tossed to one side, then to another,
Rocking in a vessel but seeking cover,
But it is not a pleasant journey at all,
If you attempt to stand you stumble and fall.
This is not a word of rebuke as you might suppose,
It is a word to assure you, all things God knows.
What can be done about this trouble within?
Admit your attitude is indeed sin.
Admit your faith needs working on,
And that you are weak not all that strong.
As for the troubled waters about you;
Something can be done for that too.
 Jesus’ love provided your redemption.
He broke the chains and bondage of sin,
He deposited new authority to your new inner-man.
He offers His name to make your demands.
In Jesus name, declare to the raging water, peace be still;
Perfectly fitting in the Father’s will.
The enemy will surely torment the heart that allows him to.
This need not be, heed this word is delivered to you.

John 16:23
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
