Like Sweet Perfume By Brenda Drake

The greatest place on earth is in the secret place of worship where Jesus, the Prince of Peace is.  It is a place of such beauty we never desire to depart. As much as we love the special time set aside; Jesus loves our time spent there even more.

Like a Sweet Perfume

Like a sweet perfume poured,
At the feet in honor to the Lord.
My heart’s songs are lifted in silent prayer;
Bowed down, transparent, and fully aware.
The Master is pleased with my gift displayed,
As I receive His answered kiss by faith.
weet is the atmosphere deep inside;
Restored, assured, and fully alive.
Oh heart, do not be stingy with offerings to the One you adore.
Lay every worry, fear, and anxiety at the foot of the Lord.
Allow His sweet acceptance to calm your troubled sea.
Allow His love and provisions to perfume your life sweet.
A sure example of a life blessed;
Fully, wholly, at peace; at rest.
Like sweet perfume in a world filled with rot and decay.
Like a shining bright gem put on display.
Like a jewel of heaven shiny bright;
One with Life, Truth, and The Way; Jesus the Christ.
Nothing more precious can there be,
Than the love displayed for and by His bride redeemed.

2 Corinthians 2:15
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

Song of Solomon 4:10
How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine!
and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!

The Sacrifice of Praise By Brenda Drake

Although it is difficult when our life is turned upside down; when we become disappointed, discouraged, we need to set our face, minds and heart to trust and to have faith God is good and He is in control.  He deserves our steadfast thanks, praise and worship no matter what we are going through.
This too is the sacrifice of praise.

The Sacrifice of Praise

The flower blooms even in the rainy day
They allow their life to be on display
And the birds continue to sing
Their sacrifice of praise to the Creator King
When the sun has hidden its warmth and the cool winds blow
Does this mean that man is forgotten in the land below?
Does his face need to be sad and his heart dark and glum?
Does he forget the goodness of God and all he has done?
The flowers and the trees and the birds are aware,
Life is a gift of love that the Creator shares.
Life has its moments when the sun shines bright,
And times of darkness where it’s easy to lose sight.
There are times of gladness and times of pain,
But the wise know God’s love and care for them remains
The angels marvel in delight
When one overcomes the obstacles and puts the enemy to flight
When they stand up tall and with authority proclaim
They’re God’s chosen and renounce despair in Jesus’ name
When they push back their shoulders and lift up their face
And bloom where they’re planted under the banner of grace
They too lift up their voices and like the birds they sing
An anthem of praise as they worship their Savior… Creator King!

Hebrews 13:15
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually,
 that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

What a day comes when there is no harsh rain again;
When the joy overflows and it never ends.

Thanks for the Little Things By Brenda Drake

Thanks for the Little Things

As I sit in my favorite chair ready to praise the Lord,
I begin to think of all I am thankful for.
Some things quickly come to mind:
Like food, clothing, shelter and fun family times,
The simple things we take for granted each day,
Like the allotted time we take to pray,
The hot cup of coffee sweetened to taste,
The precious luxury of a warm, inviting place,
The fun times with family and friends,
And the meaningful, loving conversations with them,
For Church family that spreads across many miles,
And messages from God’s Word that causes hearts to smile.
As I write down my thoughts of all I’m thankful for,
I see countless blessings received from the Lord.
As I get ready for our big day planned,
 When our family partakes God’s provisions prepared by my hand;
A Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings….my diet is to be crashed
But also I am thankful God and my family loves me even if I’m fat!

Psalms 92:1
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praise
unto thy name, O most High:

Mother’s Day Today By Brenda Drake

There are always things that cause our hearts some disquiet and these troubling times are no exception, but one thing we can and must do is think on the things that are beautiful, kind and good.  Think on the things beautiful, kind and good about your mother today to honor not only her or her memory but also the God that gave her as a gift to you.

Mother’s Day Today

Mother’s day today may seem a little strange,
And perhaps may not be celebrated quite the same.
But let’s concentrate on what is and always will be true;
What your mother is to you.
She is the very first heartbeat you heard.
And no matter how old you are you can recall her words.
Some assurances that directed or encouraged in troubled times,
Perhaps are some of her talks that come to mind.
She is the one that always was first to comfort you,
And the one that quickly kissed your boo-boos.
Her work done for you, you could never repay;
Think alone at all the meals she’s made.
The laundry, and hours of toil, perhaps even on her knees;
Praying and working to hungry hearts and mouths to feed.
Mothers are indeed a wonder so great that only time,
Can testify all their attributes packed inside that come to mind.
Shower her with gifts yes, but greatest gift of all would be,
A very thankful heart that honors the high place she deserves to be.
When you honor her you honor God above.
As you praise her you are also showering upon God your love.

Proverbs 31:28
Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Proverbs 1:8-9
My son, hear the instruction of thy father,
and forsake not the law of thy mother:
 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head,
and chains about thy neck.

Time Well Spent By Brenda Drake

In these trying times when we are staying home; it is interesting how our days can seem to fly and yet drag at the same time.  I have found there is plenty of reasons to pray and a lot of time to pray.  I spend much time thinking and desiring to spend time with friends and family; wondering at the sad conditions of our world and the terrible burdens of our leaders, doctors, nurses, and health workers.  Back again for the opportunity pray.  In light of our necessary and sometimes dire life-style changes it is almost inevitable that our thoughts travel to the future of life on earth, and the outcome of all our troubling circumstances.  This is opportunity inspection in God’s Word and again a call for prayer. When we realize God’s love and provision for us, our time is well spent in thanksgiving and praise.

Time well Spent

Time is passing…it ticks steadily away.
There is only so much time in a day.
When someone says, I do not have,
Time to do this or that.
What exactly is the meaning of what they say?
How is it, someone has no time to pray?
There is time for everything that you must do,
Your time is spent each day by you
The time you take to spend
On any given thing; is decided by you within.
Do you take time needed to help a brother?
Or does you day slip away with purpose left undiscovered?
Do you take the time to your daily tasks do,
With plan, dedication, and cheer inside of you?
Or is time spent grumbling over each step;
Unthankful, unhappy, and full of regret?
What is time?  Where does it go?
How is it, it can seem to speed by and sometimes go so slow?
Time is ordained by God for each man to live life.
Wise is the man that lives to glorify Christ.
God is able to fill us with His joy and peace every day,
So when time is up, eternally with Him you will stay.
Forever is the goal…. to with Him dwell,
Then your story of time will be a profitable account to tell

Ephesians 5:15-16
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

            Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
