The Word of God is one of the greatest gifts received when its truth is opened up to the mind. I hunger to hear the Spirit’s whisper in my heart, then when it is confirmed by the written promises in the Bible its wondrous love is cemented firmly in my heart. No one can take its guarantee of God’s favor from me.
The Word and its Beauty
Valuable lessons written down, Are seen as precious jewels found. As you reach out to their beauty touch, I urge you to pick them up. Examine them closely to their full value perceive, Do not carelessly lay them aside; treat them as a gift received. Take them and place them in a safe place, Where they are accessible to be later again embraced. Keep precious truth in the vault of your heart under the Spirit’s care; When its wisdom is needed He will remind you it is still there. Devour the Word and taste its sweetness to make you fat. You will have wisdom to share with others that find they have lack. To those who also hunger and thirst after God’s Will; You are like the mother that urges her family to be filled. Your larder is well stocked; lessons of life are put to test, Combined with the truth of the Scripture’s promises. Eat more and more do not tire of its taste, And you are filled with God’s love to show forth His amazing grace. Read, study, and apply the truth of God’s Word to your life, And you will indeed be in a dark world a bright shining light.
Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man
I remember as a child saying sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. It is not so. I have been injured by words many times. God’s Word heals. Jesus the Word of God has healed my sin-sick soul.
In a World of Words
In a world of words what do you hear? Are they the kind of things that incite anger or fear? Words that discourage or cause anxiety within, Are not of value to be allowed in. In a world of words one word true, Causes faith to grow inside of you. Rivers of peace and flowers of joy abound; With sure direction leading to higher ground. The word of truth stands tall and will not change direction; Great is the Word of God’s provisions to prosper from them. Jesus is the Word of God that spoke from the cross to man, Directing the way to salvation the Father planned. In the world of words of lie and deceit; Where chaos and decisions increase; Where the right way is painted wrong, And what God says is evil now belongs. Where hatred is hidden in cunning expressions, And love is frivolously or fake in its confession, Speak God’s Word, live the Word, love words kind and true. Love Jesus the Word and He will shine through. In the world of words the One who made all you see and do not see, Becomes the world to you for all eternity.
Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
The Ten Commandments were written in stone. Now Jesus has written His will on the walls of our heart as we stand on the rock solid promise of the truth of salvation written in the Word of God.
Written in Stone
You have heard “it is written in stone.” Meaning its truth stands alone. It will not change. What written down, Is rock-solid truth that is sound. The world may alter the Word to mean what they desire, But it really has not changed what God requires. The world may shun the Word as untrue, But it does not change the mind of the One who gave it to you. It may be coined as old fashioned, outdated, or unnecessary, But on the contrary they will always be. When your name is written in the book of life, There you stay because of the blood of Christ. He is the Rock, He is the law and the ransom paid; So the one under the law’s penalty may be saved. It is written in stone, and in the Father’s hand, By the love of God; just as He has planned. Written in stone… the blood above every hearts door, Marks the proof they are the possession and the work of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
When we focus on the world’s circumstances, life at times feels dark and hopeless. Our attitude and outlooks are our choice. It is also our choice whether or not to believe the Word of God’s promise. Salvation is a bright light that pierces the darkness of our soul. When we abide in Jesus He floods hearts with love, promise, and hope; that causes life-altering shifts of joy and deep assuring peace deep within.
Abide in Me
When your day ends and night begins, Although the sun is not seen it still shines my friend. When you open a door the light shines through, Its sheen enters unless the door is closed by you. But the light is still there. It does not change a bit; But the shut up room loses its benefits. A tender green branch promises fruit ahead, A severed limb without life’s source is dead. A branch may stay green awhile, but without strength; When not connected to the vine, its fruit dry up and shrink. Withered dry branches becomes a waste, To be thrown in the burn pile- disgraced. The Son that shines upon you never stops His shine. When I have called you; you are mine. When connected to the true vine, good fruit expect, Even in the world’s harsh elements. There is nothing able to steal this one from me, For I watch over my chosen jealously. But all do have free choice; I do not force to love me. I desire to be wanted and to be the source of every need. So great is the desire for their Lord. A seeking bride that waits to be with the one she adores, My arms are open; I am calling out to thee. Open your heart’s door for the Light to enter as you abide in me.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
