Dinner is Served By Brenda Drake

The Word of God is like a banquet table set before us.  There is so much for us to learn. The more we consume, the more we learn the ways and the desires of Jesus; the lover of our soul; and the One who soon returns for His bride

Dinner is Served

Join Me for dinner, come taste and see,
The wonderful banquet prepared for thee.
The table is set, you have a place reserved.
But until the main course is served,
Have an appetizer or two,
They also have been prepared for you.
Just as a wedding has a dress rehearsal set aside,
Where there is extra care to prepare the bride.
Just so are the days before Christ return comes,
Prepare yourself; get ready to meet God’s Son.
Keep your eyes open and ears tuned for His sound.
Make sure your lamp is tended and you walk on solid ground.
Let go of worry, fear, and such things,
Get your mind, heart, and soul prepared to meet the King.
Allow your heart songs to flood the land;
And before you know it, before God you will stand.
Beautifully dressed in righteous white;
A dazzling, lovely bride for Christ.
Your heart seeks to understand all that I say in this rhyme,
But the only real thing you need to know; give thanks when you are Mine;
And rejoice you are full and filled with the nourishment prepared.
And remember you need to be faithful to with others the Good News share.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God.

Jeremiah 15:16
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:
for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.

More Than Enough By Brenda Drake

More Than Enough

The stories in the Bible are read but not always taken in,
But if they seek it will speak to them.
The great crowd had a few fish and loaves of bread;
Their little seemed useless but when the disciples did as Jesus said,
Their little more than enough became.
Circumstances were overpowered when the Word of increase came.
The little you have to share if need be,
When the Word arrives even more visits thee.

Lord, all I am and all I have is Yours in fact;
With You on my side what do I lack Lord I ask?

This is answer-right to the question in your ear.
Your little will be enough so others lack disappears.
The story of the woman that would seek crumbs,
To receive the good deed she needed done.
She believed the source was greater than her need,
So content on the crumbs she would feed.

What about you?  Is your heart able to see,
Your lack is not more than I am able to provide for thee?
When you ask do you believe it will be done?
Or are you uncertain the answer comes?

The story of the blind men that all received sight,
Who all jumped in joy and great delight,
All rushed off to places they desired to be,
But one came back to praise the One that set them free.

When you were unable to behold the Light,
And the truth was far from your sight?
When you were healed did you go your way?
Or did you choose to at His feet stay?
What about now? Now and then,
Do you return to thank God again?
There are so many lessons in the Word when applied to your life,
Your walk is all you desire it to be, more than enough as you glorify Christ.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction,
and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

World of Words By Brenda Drake

            It is good to be aware of things occurring in the world. However when we get caught up with all the ups, downs, deceptions, and lies of the many voices, we become sour and depressed.  The world is full of words that are contrary to the Word of God; those we must turn away.

World of Words

In a world of words what do you hear?
Is it the kind of things that incite anger or fear?
Words that discourage and cause anxiety within,
Are not of value to be allowed in.
In a world of words the One Word true,
Causes faith to grow inside of you;
Rivers of peace and flowers of joy abound,
With a sure direction leads to higher ground.
Truth stands tall and will not change direction.
Great is the Word’s provision to prosper them.
Jesus is the Word of God that spoke from the cross to man;
That directs to the way of salvation the Father planned.
In the world of words of lie and deceit,
Where chaos and divisions increase;
Where the right way is painted wrong,
And what God says is evil now belongs;
Where hatred is hidden in cunning expressions,
And love is frivolous and fake in its confession.
Speak the Word, live the Word, love words kind and true.
Love Jesus the Word and He will shine through.
In the world of words- the One who made all you see,
Becomes the world to you for eternity.

Luke 6:44
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Romans 10:14-15
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Dictate to Your Mind By Brenda Drake

.With all that is going on in our upside-down world it is wise to take care of what we allow to fill our thoughts, God’s Word has given us good advise…Think on things good. God is Good.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Dictate to Your Mind
By Brenda Drake

Dictate to your mind what is good and what needs left behind.
Be the boss or things unwise will fill your thoughts and time.
Be strong against evil…in Jesus name pray.
The Word of God proclaimed keeps the enemy away.
Be adamant and persistent in your toil;
Your reward is thoughts unsoiled.
Think on things lovely; bathe in its splendor and light,
And your heart will find great delight and insight.
Choose love over hatred, freely forgive one another;
The day will pass filled with new joy discovered.
Set your face to do this shown to you.
Make haste and others will follow the way right too.
Be like a warden that keeps peace within,
And you find rest in whatever situation you are in.
Keep your eyes on Jesus; sing long and loud His praise,
And His joy will indeed flood over you in all your ways.

Psalms 119:112
I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.

Ephesians 4:23
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

There is a Place By Brenda Drake

Words are powerful; they when kind, true, and wise are kept in a special place within. The Word of God placed within is a foundation strong.  When Jesus ( The Word) is within we are strong.

There is a Place

There is a place where love words are kept safe within;
To be enjoyed in remembrance again and again.
Remember the kind word that lifted you when you were sad?
It is in the special place you can visit when you feel bad.
Loving words are always a gift when they touch your ear:
But they speak much more effectively when your heart hears.
There is a place where you can hear love words every day;
The Holy Spirit encourages with wisdom that deep inside stays.
So they too can be drawn up from within,
To be shared to encourage or to help a friend.
The Word of God is a never ending supply.
Of life-giving utterances; like a river that never runs dry.
It is a peaceful, loving- place where you will hear,
God loved and died for you, and is always near.
Its teachings of promise you draw strength from,
Gladly is shared to encourage another one.
When you speak good words that with the Word of God agree,
You become the place the Spirit finds joy as He dwells in thee.

Psalms 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight,
O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

The Taste Test By Brenda Drake

I have thrown food together and it may turn out pretty tasty, but most of the time it is impossible to do it the same again.  My family is sure to tell me if it not as good as they remembered it to be.  I have learned it is much better to use a recipe.  I know some that seem to just go with the flow of life and do not take the time it takes to learn how to be a pleasing taste to our Lord.  I know one thing God does not enjoy the lukewarm!

The Taste Test

Most follow a recipe when a meal is prepared to guide them.
Some just randomly choose as they toss things in.
But directions are needed for consistency in flavor and texture;
Great care is required to the correct ingredients measure.
The end results are judged by the test of taste.
Or your efforts could find disgrace and become a waste.
This is a true story even in God’s realm my friend.
When your life is finished you will be tested by Him.
There is a recipe…read it and you will see.
That Jesus provided all that you need.
With His help there is so way of disgrace;
For with Him within there is no mistake.
Wise cooks remember the directions so when it turns out right,
They can easily again cause others delight.
Read the Word …do as Jesus did.
When you obey the Word you are by the Spirit led.
You will become all that God desires you to be,
A joy to Him and an example to foe, friends, and family,
Come taste and see that God is good,
And you too turn out the way you should.

Psalms 119:103
How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Fixed By Brenda Drake

I have always been a little strong willed; now I am strong willed for Jesus.  I set my face like flint to do the will of the One that is my help in every way.

Fixed

Set your heart and fix your face,
Steadily walk ahead and its way embrace.
The hard path is not walked alone,
God leads the way home.
The easy way full of joy and love will be,
Well lighted and well-marked for thee.
Fixed: with a heart that continues to praise,
That will not allow life to pull you astray.
Keep on walking My friend.
You will be victorious in the end.
Will you fear defeat or will you proclaim,
Fixed for full healing in Jesus’ name?

I will fix my face, I will not stray.
I will heed God’s Word and its instructions obey.
I will not allow the poison of world opinion pull me down.
I watch for Your help to pull me to higher ground.
I fix my face to continue to do as ordained.
Indeed a conqueror, all praise and glory goes to Jesus’s name.

Psalms 57:7
My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed:

Isaiah 50:7
I will sing and give praise. For the Lord God will help me;
therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint,
and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

A Love So Great By Brenda Drake

The more we learn the Word of God and discover His great love for us our love grows. Each day we follow after Jesus we become more and more able to greatly love others too.

A Love So Great

Great love rejects defeat and will not listen to the enemies lies;
A love that sees good, but will evil recognize.
Love reaches out and seeks to show the way,
It will truly try to do good and will God’s Word obey.
This love is for the Master and from Him also comes;
A supernatural love bestowed by God’s Son.
His love within seeks to serve and to give.
It is proof that God inside of you lives.
This love desires peace and harmony and hates strife;
This too is proof that God rules in your life.
The dedicated life stands tall and is not of Christ ashamed.
There is no sweeter sound than the mention of His name.
This love is not weak, but instead it is strong;
For within you, holds the power to stand against wrong.
They do not cower in fear when encountered, no indeed,
For you are a warrior that knows the battle was won at Calvary.
Your love for God is so great you would die to say it is true;
For to love His kind of love successfully, to die daily is what you need to do

Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

Psalms 18:1-3
I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

A Strange Thing Occurs By Brenda Drake

There are times when life and its complications cause a certain dread, especially when there seems to be no clear answers in sight. The best remedy is to go to the Word of God to be reminded God is not caught off guard and we can and must trust He loves us and is in complete control.

A Strange Thing Occurs

Father the world is talking loud threats,
Of sure difficulties that lies ahead.
My heart hurts at the loss I see on every side;
From financial strain and for families and for them who die.
Confusing, mind-blowing whistle-blowing words circle and attack.
It seems there are very little we can know are facts.
In my quiet times when I travel to God’s Word,
A very strange and wonderful thing occurs,
My heart is settled as in your care I rest.
Again I find the truth and it again I confess.
My God is able and on Him I depend;
All things on earth and in heaven bows down to Him.
I am firmly in His sight and on His mind.
My God loves to spend with me time.
Life’s complications are handled in the way best,
So the outcome of it all will turn for the best.
He is in control and it is already written what will come,
So in Jesus name I pray. Lord thy will be done.
In my life and in the world that seems to be in such chaos and whoa,
I will listen instead to the Spirit that brings peace and confidence to my soul.

Isaiah 26:3-4
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.
 Trust ye in the Lord for ever:
for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:

Psalms 3:3
But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me;
my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

Eat the Scriptures By Brenda Drake

As the world hurls more and more hard, unpalatable things for us to consume, the more confused, sick and depressed we become.  Our life it seems is turned upside down and backwards; conflicting with all we have known and trusted as truth. Indeed we are discovering some things we thought were true are not.  There is one measure of truth that is true and right; the Word of God that many refer to both as Jesus and the bible.  Jesus is Truth, Life and The Way.  Jesus is the Word of God that spoke life from the cross to show the way to all who would hear. There is strength in the Word when it is ingested. In it we find sure knowledge of the sad condition of our sinful soul. It tells of the love of the Father who provided through the sacrifice of His Son our redemption, and it spells out the unimaginable love of Jesus that willingly took our sins on His back to bring us to restore our fellowship with a Holy God.  The sweet Holy Spirit makes the Word clear as He teaches, guides, and leads us to our eternal home to forever dwell in one accord with Father, Son and Spirit.

Eat the Scripture

To dine on My Word, is as I wish for you to do
Eat all the Scriptures you can put inside of you
Drink of the waters that quench the thirst you have inside
Never quench the Spirit by not eating right
As the body needs fuel to make it run
The spirit man needs the food that is prepared for him.
He cannot function properly if he does not eat.
He will be defeated and will become weak.
Some children are under-nourished because of lack of trust.
If they would just read the Word they can be and do as they must.
You have not, if you seek not, if you seek you shall find.
All needed armor in every battle of every kind.
You have the choice to be strong or weak.
The more wisdom consumed, the mightier your strength.

1 Peter 2:2
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

2 Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
