Peace in the Gloom By Brenda Drake

I have a tendency to overthink, trying to fix or figure out everything on my own.  I am not that smart or that strong.  I will never be able to carry the burdens and trials of my life alone and I really do not want to; it is so much easier to lean on the Lord and to rest in His strength and ability.

Peace in the Gloom
by Brenda Drake

Sometimes my eyes are clouded; circumstances block the sun,
And I find I am full of doubt and fear become.
My heart is weighed down and depressed,
And negative seems to be what I confess.
Dark shadows loom, and evil taunts fill the air,
And of all life’s dangers I am so aware.
I cannot help another in this terrible state I know,
So Lord I ask for You to be in control.
I admit my sin of worry and anxiety,
I need and request help to Your way see.
The day may still be dark and overcast the same,
But I am able to envision things differently, my faith reclaimed.
When I lay down my burdens at the foot of the cross,
Fear and worry’s threats are lost.
I am visited with the sure wondrous provision of peace,
The sunshine within is increased.
I thank You Lord for allowing songs of praise to touch my lips,
And for giving me the strength to the enemy’s taunts of gloom resist.

Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Love Story By Brenda Drake

            I have never felt more loved than at the place of the revelation of the jeopardy of my soul, for my Lord rushed in to assure me of His provision to cleanse me of all unrighteousness. The beauty of His plan proved a love much greater than I could ever imagine.  Oh how I love Him who first loved me.

Love Story
By Brenda Drake

I was poor, so poor; I had filthy rags upon my back.
I lived in the gutters of life, I had great lack.
My eyes were blind and unseeing.
My ears were stopped; I was a hopeless and unbelieving.
The future was dark; there was bitter cold within me.
All was futile I had no one to befriend me.
My past was sad, the present a farce.
Negative would rule over any positive in my heart.
I was fully aware of my stain,
I barely could lift up my heart in the shame.
But along came the most wondrous expression of love and grace;
That reached out and invited me into His embrace.
My every sin He knew and He showed me the great price,
He paid for my salvation when He gave His life.
He reached out and lifted me to beside Him stand,
And He declared I was new and whole as He had always planned.
He gave me His robe of righteousness, pure, clean and white.
And introduce me to His Father as His bride.
He bestowed upon me gifts; promises good and true,
Of things He has planned ahead for us to do.
He sent His love to dwell within to bring comfort my soul.
And He promised He would of my life take full control.
He said He goes ahead to prepare a place and will return again.
There is no greater love than between God and those He calls friends.

Ephesians 3:17-19
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Hold Out Things Worth Taking By Brenda Drake

Life is God’s gift that we can offer back to Him.

Hold out Things worth Taking
by Brenda Drake

Hold out things worth taking, give good things away.
If you hold out junk then it will with you stay.
By the world’s standards it may seem good,
But by God’s measure it may not be as it should.
Good advice is worth keeping – give it away;
A good word others will gladly receive each day.
In God’s kingdom to give is to receive
So give away what it is that you need.
Hold out kindness – you will find you are kinder too,
Hold out compassion and it is added unto you.
Sing praise and you will be praised for what you have done.
Hold out things worth taking and you are held by God’s Son.
Life is a struggle but do not hold on too tight,
Offer it to Jesus as a sacrifice.
A sacrifice worth keeping; well used by God above;
For your life is a testament of His love.
God offers life everlasting, gladly it receive.
He held out salvation; you saw and believed.
He came and drew you to His touch.
He offered you joy and peace and you opened up.
Hold out the invitation God held out to you,
And others will come to the wedding feast too.
Remember this word, and the Word will before you stand.
When you reach out He will take your hand.

Luke 8:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measur

Mystery By Brenda Drake

The wonder and glory of God boggles the mind.  We as His followers get just a glimpse of His majesty. He reveals Himself and the mystery of His plan through the Holy Word of God!  But oh so much more there is to experience ahead.

Mystery
by Brenda Drake

Who knows the mind of God? Who knows the way of the Wind?
Who else is called Master…only Him.
Wise and joyful are those who know,
By Faith, Who it is that so values the soul.
The wise are diligent to seek His face,
And hunger each day for His embrace.
How is it you love fervently One you cannot see?
Indeed it is a mystery.
How can you hear without a sound;
Words beautiful and profound?
How do you rest your mind in the confidence deep,
When the world and its ways threaten to sweep you off your feet?
How can the blind see and the deaf hear?
How is it they walk in a dark world without fear?
Much is the knowledge man has figured out.
But the evil one fills the lost with ignorance and doubt.
The found are finding they have only begun,
To learn the realms of Father, Spirit, and Son.
To be and to remain in the Spirit’s flow,
Do not lose the wonder and mystery of the One that saves souls.
Be ready and willing to take the steps of each day;
Knowing without knowing how Jesus leads the way.

Ephesians 1:7-9
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

Dictate to Your Mind By Brenda Drake

.With all that is going on in our upside-down world it is wise to take care of what we allow to fill our thoughts, God’s Word has given us good advise…Think on things good. God is Good.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Dictate to Your Mind
By Brenda Drake

Dictate to your mind what is good and what needs left behind.
Be the boss or things unwise will fill your thoughts and time.
Be strong against evil…in Jesus name pray.
The Word of God proclaimed keeps the enemy away.
Be adamant and persistent in your toil;
Your reward is thoughts unsoiled.
Think on things lovely; bathe in its splendor and light,
And your heart will find great delight and insight.
Choose love over hatred, freely forgive one another;
The day will pass filled with new joy discovered.
Set your face to do this shown to you.
Make haste and others will follow the way right too.
Be like a warden that keeps peace within,
And you find rest in whatever situation you are in.
Keep your eyes on Jesus; sing long and loud His praise,
And His joy will indeed flood over you in all your ways.

Psalms 119:112
I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

I Weep With You By Brenda Drake

Whisper: When you are Mine we are one.

2 Corinthians 1:2-4
Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

I Weep With You
by Brenda Drake

When you laugh and enjoy life I laugh too.
When you are sad, I am with you.
There is no emotion you experience that I do not feel.
I felt it from the cross so that you can heal.
Every time you go through pain,
Every time you experience shame,
Every burden, every worry, and every fear,
Every hard word that touches your ear,
I have noticed and have known too.
My heart is dedicated to you.
Walk in the sure knowledge that you are loved much.
I prepare eternity to your life touch.
So take each day and its problems one step at a time.
When you pray for God’s help and with the Word align,
You will experience peace and joy will overflow.
The Prince of Peace within joys over your soul.
Walk on in the Spirit and sing songs of praise,
And at your destiny you will stand amazed.
Heart aches will touch you it is true,
But know your God weeps with you.
Joy is your portion – share it with friends and neighbors.
Love for your brother shows you have received God’s favor.

I am never alone in my grief, troubles, or pain; and I rejoice with You in my joyful times.

God Wants  All Your Heart by Brenda Drake

A small part most desire to give;
They hold on to the largest part, as they profess they are His.
Self is served most of the time.
They share only small moments to with God align.
They say a prayer if they see a problem ahead,
But sometimes they wait too long; till they are way over their heads
Some place a day aside if there is no other thing to do.
If asked, do you serve God; they would say it is true.
The vices and sinful pleasures they tuck safely away,
Their hearts and minds wander even when they pray.
A future of hard places will need to be overcome.
They are blinded by the evil one.
Complacent, with consciences dull and blind,
Fully deceived; they think they are doing fine.
They point out, that at least they say Jesus’…

A Strange Thing Occurs By Brenda Drake

            There are times when life and its complications cause a certain dread, especially when there seems to be no clear answers in sight. The best remedy is to go to the Word of God to be reminded God is not caught off guard and we can and must trust He loves us and is in complete control.

A Strange Thing Occurs

Father the world is talking loud threats,
Of sure difficulties that lies ahead.
My heart hurts at the loss I see on every side;
From financial strain and for families and for them who die.
Confusing, mind-blowing whistle-blowing words circle and attack.
It seems there are very little we can know are facts.
In my quiet times when I travel to God’s Word,
A very strange and wonderful thing occurs,
My heart is settled as in His care I rest.
Again I find the truth and it again I confess.
My God is able and on Him I depend;
All things on earth and in heaven bows down to Him.
I am firmly in His sight and on His mind.
My God loves to spend with me time.
Life’s complications are handled in the way best,
The outcome of it all in God’s will rests.
He is in control and it is written what will come,
So in Jesus name I pray. Lord Thy will be done.
In my life and in the world that seems to be in such chaos and whoa,
I will listen instead to the Spirit that brings peace and confidence to my soul.

Isaiah 26:3-4
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.
 Trust ye in the Lord for ever:
for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:

Mary Had a Little Lamb By Brenda Drake

I always wondered why Mary would take a lamb to school.  Now I am wondering why I thought it was a bad idea. Jesus is the Lamb of God that I take now everywhere I go.  Let us pray that more people will allow His light to shine back in the school room.

Mary Had a Little Lamb

Jesus is the Lamb of God that was pure and white.
He too was Mary’s little lamb and her delight.
He grew up to become,
The Lamb that belongs to everyone.
He chose to die to save the lost,
On an old rugged cross.
This Lamb becomes Master, Savior, and friend,
To the one that allows Him to dwell within.
He will never leave you or forsake you …this word is true,
But still Mary’s Lamb is not allowed in school.
The children would laugh and play and have joy and peace,
But instead they are at war and violence will increase.
God’s commandments are no longer posted above the door,
For they do not allow the Lamb in the school anymore.
But surely what the Word says is true,
The Lamb of God can indeed go to the school.
If you live your testimony and shine your light bright,
The Lamb of God will still cause to the children great delight.
Prayer cannot be stopped by the rules of man;
So bring to every place the love of Jesus, Mary’s little Lamb.

John 1:36
And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

It is an Excuse By Brenda Drake

1 John 1:6
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness,
we lie, and do not the truth:

We lie to ourselves and to our Lord when we justify our reasons why we do not to do what we know we should do.  We all make excuses from time to time.  It is wise to admit and repent of them instead.

It is an Excuse

Probable justifications, plausible to some,
As reasons why things are or are not done.
There are not enough hours in the day;
I have no extra time to take to pray.
I have heard them all and numerous more.
They say I will do it tomorrow Lord.
Time is stolen again and again;
From outside sources and from within.
If honest, many times it is just an excuse,
With not a bit of real truth.
There was occasion; you could have done the good deed.
You could have spent a while to your spirit feed.
The truth is there was real opportunity,
To assist, speak, or pray for the weak.
People and circumstances obstruct in life it is true,
Myriad issues can and will hinder you.
Admit when you are lazy, uncaring, or unwise.
Do not add to your sin with yet another lie.
God does not condemn; He reveals what needs to be rearranged.
And encourages to discard the excuses and acknowledge the need for change.

Prayer
I repent for all my excuses.  Help me to be honest with You, Lord.  I know You see and understand all my inner struggles.  Make it clear to me, when and what I say is just an excuse.  Give me the ability and desire to do as You wish.
