Wisps of Truth By Brenda Drake

      The Holy Spirit starts His holy work long before we know or even desire to know God.  In times of quiet, and of trial we are touched with fascinating strands of truth. The salvation story enters into the hungry seeking heart.  I now have a great hunger for the Word.  God feeds me often all the wisdom I desire, and encourages me to even eat more!

Wisps of Truth

Wisps of truth, like delicate strands of gold,
Deposited in the secret place the heart holds.
Interwoven threads of goodness pure and undefiled;
Bits of God’s wisdom that causes the heart to smile.
Wondrous revelations that reveal God’s power and might;
That floods the inner sanctuary with eternal lights.
A supernatural breath of air that lifts up the heart to receive,
That, that their faith believes.
The truth of God’s love has a sweet taste,
As God introduces the wonder of His grace.
The captive is freed, like an eagle soars to great height,
As God’s forgiveness fills the soul with unearthly delights.
Great desire fills this place with the need to give praise;
At the truth of unworthiness, the heart bows amazed.
Beautifully adorned in worship as a living sacrifice;
Filled and overflowing, one with Jesus Christ.
A marvelous union so intricately designed;
One with the Truth – perfectly aligned.
Seek God and you will find peace.
Seek His ability for He is your strength.
Hunger for righteousness – He is the bread.
Thirst for His wisdom, He is the head.
Rest in His goodness, entrust your life to His care;
He is the fullness you seek; He is always willing to share.
Every trial you face, know He guides your step.
Every battle formed against you He is prepared for it.
Read God’s Word each and every day,
And the delicate strands of His truth will show you His way.

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free

Heart of a Hero By Brenda Drake

We to impress others can put on an outward show of goodness, but God sees our inner man and knows our every motive. It is much better to emulate Jesus the One that is truly good. With His help we become His ambassadors in a dark world; able to show the way to the cross that rescues the lost by the Father’s provision of salvation.

Heart of a Hero

The heart of a hero to the outward eye,
May look the same as a coward on the outside.
It’s the inner place where only God sees clear;
The hero’s heart is touched as God draws near.
Who are God’s heroes? They may surprise you when shown.
They may seem a little strange and stand alone.
Heroes in God’s kingdom look different than what the world proclaims.
By the world’s standards they may be called different names.
True heroes are those that do what is right.
Without thought they are a light.
God’s hero is steadfast in faith.
They are the ones that are on call to in an instant pray.
They are the ones that turn the cheek and refuse to fight;
Unless it is to stand up tall for what is good and right.
A hero in God’s kingdom may be portrayed as humble or weak;
But it is strength and truth heard when they speak.
The heart of God’s hero beats to the tune of Christ.
They are His workmanship and the bride of His delight.

Matthew 5:3-11
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter
all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

Planted in His Likeness By Brenda Drake

One of the most memorable events in my life was the day I was baptized.  Now years later I can see that it is even more special than I knew it to be. I am truly a new creature in Christ.

Planted in His Likeness

Jesus died and was buried for our sin.
He took on our likeness to free us to live for Him.
He rose victorious free from death’s threat;
To call us to repentance; the baptism of sin’s death.
At emersion we are planted in His likeness too,
Buried into the water is sins death-hold on you.
Raised up and out of sin’s trap to new life,
Planted in you now is the likeness of Christ.
Because He is life and you are in Him.
And because you are now crucified His righteousness lives within.
Every day has the choice, do you crucify the flesh,
To partake in His holy work of righteousness?
Or do you yield to the temptation to allow the old man to live again?
When the wrong choice has ruled so rules sin.
Repent and change your direction and you will see,
The effort it takes sets you free.
Free to follow in the footsteps of the One you adore;
Bringing in new souls, to be planted in the work of the Lord.

Colossians 2:12-14
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Victory in Jesus By Brenda Drake

Scriptures says we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus and that  I can do all things through Christ.  Great words but do we really believe it?  If the Word says it is so then it is!

Victory in Jesus

There is victory in Jesus; people sing it in song all the time.
But listen to the words I give in this word of rhyme.
Victory in Jesus means just as it proclaims.
It means there is no failure in His name.
If Jesus is your Savior, He has bought you with His blood.
The truth the victory declares seems to be misunderstood.
Victory is Jesus when He is ruler of your life;
For the person you once were, was on the cross sacrificed.
You are now living Jesus, no longer should sin or shame,
Cast its evil influence through your name.
Jesus in you is stronger than the world about.
The Jesus in you must cast the evil out.
“There is victory in Jesus, my Savior forever” are the words you sing.
You triumph through every trial for He brings victory in everything.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

I John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory
that overcometh the world, even our faith.

There is Nothing as Awesome By Brenda Drake

The love of God for man is greater than our minds can ever comprehend.  When we recognize the gift of salvation and the unmerited favor of God for us there is nothing more precious.  All the pleasures and beauty of the world cannot come close to the splendor of the opportunity to spend eternity with a God that loved us so much He died to make us one with Him.

There is nothing as Awesome

Even the rainbow’s colors across the clear blue sky.
Or an majestic eagle when it spreads its wings to fly,
Or a bird’s songs of pure, sweet praise,
Or an innocent child with arms upraised,
Or the Sun’s shine on a lake of glass,
Or a life fulfilled with more than you ask.
Even a baby’s smile as it cuddles their mother’s breast,
Even when life is full of peace and happiness,
There is nothing as great, awesome, or as grand,
As a mental image of the Creator reaching down to man.
The loveliest flower, the sweetest song;
Most enchanting scene does not in the same realm belong.
For the One that created all there is and is to come,
Loved man so much He gave His Son.
Even the wings of butterflies, or wisps of golden strands of hair;
Cannot illustrate the soft touch of the love God with man has shared.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Psalms 104:1
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou
art clothed with honour and majesty.

Psalms 145:5
I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

Crying Heart By Brenda Drake

      God’s love reaches into the deep places and brings His healing touch whenever we call for His help.  But there are times when assisted even before we ask.  It will take eternity to discover all the times He has helped, rescued, and healed us unaware.

Crying Heart

Oh lonely heart that yearns for more,
All you need is the Lord.
Oh crying heart full of pain and fear,
Just call the Lord, and He will draw near.
Oh heart that feels dead, cold, with little love to give,
Ask and the Lord will help you learn to forgive.
Oh heart full of shame you cannot bear,
Trust the Lord He died because He cared.
Willing hearts who desires to know God’s love is real,
Lift your cup to be filled with the wondrous love that heals.

Revelations 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice,
and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

John 14:18
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

The Battle of the Flesh By Brenda Drake

            There are many battles but the one battle constant is the battle of the flesh.  Just as we think we have conquered its threat we have not and find we cannot stand against it alone.  We need God’s help each day.  He helps by teaching the Scripture.  He lifts us up as He answers prayer.  He comforts and heals from our wounds because He lives within.   He gives us strength to overcome for He is our strength.  He never leaves us or forsakes us.

The Battle of Flesh

Constant is the battle; wrong or right;
Within there is a great fight.
As you abstain from doing as you wish
This is the battle of flesh
Know as you continue; as you from sin depart,
It becomes easier when in the right direction you start.
I then become your strength, I make you strong.
I lead from within away from wrong.
I am the One that shows the right way;
As you study the Word and as you pray.
When you learn Scripture – I speak in your heart.
The truth stands inside and will not depart.
As you live the example you should be,
You are also a word spoken for Me.
Others around you will hear loud and clear,
The truth I desire for them to hear.
Little children know battles are sure to come,
But remember the war is already won.
You must choose the side you serve; right or wrong.
Although battles still rage you can sing victory song!

Psalms 34:7
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Onward By Brenda Drake

            .  Yesterday’s problem is in God’s hand to be solved in His way and in His time.  Each day has its
new start.  We only need to fix our eyes on Jesus and keep on the straight and narrow path.  He is our strength, and the One who helps carry our burdens.  With His help we will continue onward toward our high calling. Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Onward

Onward on the path of life:
Overcoming evil influences such as anger, fear and strife.
Each day a forward walk, the past left behind.
Onward, walking in the tracks the Lord leaves to find;
With shoulders squared to meet the day without fear of defeat;
With full knowledge you are equipped to the situation meet.
Praises of love are sung, not with grumbling lips.
Onward walks the child of God toward the goal ahead..
Thankful hearts see the future holds promise for them.
They count on their Lord as their protector and their friend.
They are shining examples for the world to see.
Onward walks the child of God as they live there life for Me.

Psalms 112:7
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Amazing Creations By Brenda Drake

            I desire to honor my mother.  She was an unwed teenager when she decided to have her first born child.  I am that child, I am forever grateful for her sacrifice to have me, it indeed was a sacrifice for she endured much heartache, shame, and blame.  Her life was forever changed the day I was conceived.  My life is forever connected to her.  I love you mom and will rejoice when we are again reunited in Christ Jesus.

Amazing Creations

Mothers are amazing creations; within them life is formed.
So special is this place, God visits before the child is born.
Her name is to be honored and celebrated,
For by her sacrifice God’s love is demonstrated.
Mothers are mothers until the end.
Their child is forever connected to them.
Like the she-bear she will fight;
No one anywhere is more precious in her sight.
Like the Creator is always planning for your best,
The mother by her child’s accomplishments is blessed.
Mother’s day remembers the good things right and true;
And place aside the temporary things that need to improve.
A wise child remembers if it was not for her where would they be?
She is responsible for your future indeed.
Give thanks and praise to the Heavenly Father for such a gift bestowed.
Mothers are a blessed treasure your heart holds.

Psalms 139 13
For thou hast possessed my reins:
thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
