Cloudy Attitudes By Brenda Drake

            We all have bad days but when our bad days outnumber our good ones I think it is safe to say we need an attitude adjustment. Lately I have noticed it takes some concentrated, extra care to keep a Christ-like countenance.  We are not built to take on all the cares of our world on our own strength.  We need to allow God to help us in every situation; and when we fail in our niceness test He is faithful and always ready to help and to forgive us!

Cloudy Attitudes

An attitude when bad, casts a shadow over life,
The flowers do not smell as sweet nor does the sun shine as bright.
When the attitude becomes cloudy, the heart is not as free,
And life loses its spontaneity.
The sweet words of fellowship do not easily flow.
It is hard to hear words of love, if waters of the heart are cold.
Take care to keep your attitude right;
Cast off the darkness and let in the light.
When life presses hard upon you;
Do not allow it to give you a bad attitude.
Instead, place disagreeable things at the foot of the cross of Christ.
For He is near to help you to keep your attitude right

Proverbs 16:32
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth
his spirit than he that taketh a city

I John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.

Trust the Mountain Mover By Brenda Drake

            Have you noticed how at times a very small thing can at times seem as a mountain in our sight
We need to get the perspective of God.  How do we get His perception? We get into the Word of God to see what we need.  Many times all we need to do is to believe God will take care of each situation we face and to rest in the assurance He has heard and will answer our prayers in the way that is best.

Trust the Mountain Mover

The concern that troubles your sleep at night,
That clouds your vision and inner insight.
It is like a mountain in the way.
It blocks the light in your day.
When you feel no one really cares,
Look up to the One that hears your prayers.
Do you have a mountain in the way,
Blocking the path? Then pray.
Trust the Mountain-mover, have faith in His ability.
He is able to handle whatever is too high for thee.
His Word causes rivers to part and storms to cease,
At His Word and His name power is released.
Trust the Mountain mover in every situation.
Mountains, hard rains, and stormy seas
Are not a threat, nor well they hamper thee.
Jesus faced His mountain on the cross for you.
So you could learn to trust in everything you go through.

Matthew 8:26
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?
Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

Matthew 21:21-22
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer,
believing, ye shall receive

The Colors of Love By Brenda Drake

            We all want to be loved, but do we really know how to love.  The world is in great need to find the Lover of our soul.  When we know God we know what love looks like.  When we comprehend what He did we are able to know what love does. When we find the deep truth of Love we will realize why it is God’s Word says if we hate our brother we hate God.  We are instructed to love God with all our heart and to love our fellow man the same

The Colors of Love

The colors of love some many say sounds strange.
If pressed for an answer it could be hard to explain.
Some describe gifts of flowers, chocolate, and gems shiny bright.
And of course their answer would be right.
Some would attach demonstrations to their list;
Such as understanding, gentleness, and kindness;
Or emotions of joy, peace, and contentment inside.
The too under the banner of love abides.
God is Love. In Him all love flows.
Every hue and color of love from Him overflows.
God is love and He created man.
In His image through, many refuse to understand.
All men are an image of the Creator; each one is a part,
Of the forever-family that displays the Father’s heart.
When you are able to see love in another’s race,
And their differences embrace,
When you see the uniqueness and applaud;
Then you will see the colors of God.
The colors of love are those you may walk by.
They are all one day to be drawn as one at God’s side.
The colors of love are everywhere and in everything.
All a part and a glory to Jesus Christ, the King of Kings.

1 John 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

All is Known but Not All Know By Brenda Drake

            I remember wondering as a small child does God know me.  If He was real I wondered why He would not speak to me. Now I know not only did God know me, He knew me in my mother’s womb.  Not only does He hear me, He speaks to me in countless ways.  He loves every person born and not born.  Jesus died to pay the debt of sin so we could partake in the holy, eternal future planned for His creation to live in His presence.

All is known but Not All Know

The lonely soul forlornly sitting in a chair,
Wondering if there is anyone that is aware and cares,
The mother struggling to raise their young right,
With fading strength in a never-ending fight.
The young man or woman that feels only dread,
When they plan for the future they see ahead.
The war-torn survivor of sickness or shame,
Those that have little of value except their good name.
The loving soul that loves to love,
That has not yet found the truth to the way above.
The proud or obnoxious one that blows like the wind,
That pushes and shoves affection away him.
The widow who cries herself to sleep,
The strong self-sufficient one that refuses to weep,
The Ones slammed by disaster knocking at the door.
And those who are like a storm that does not care anymore.
The one that speaks loud things,
That sputters and dishonors everyone and everything.
The child with heart repented and eyes opened wide,
To allow God’s wisdom and strength inside.
All those that walk, talk, live, think, and feel
The One that loved, lived, and died for them desires to heal.
All are known and loved and cared for.
But not all know or feel the love of the Lord.

Psalms 147:5
Great is our Lord, and of great power:
his understanding is infinite.

Psalms 139:1-6
O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down,
and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue,
but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before,
and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Stand on the Word By Brenda Drake

I had a refrigerator magnet that had the best advice.  It said if God said it, believe it!  This poem adds even more to its great message.

Stand on the Word

Put your finger on it; claim it for your life.
Underline it and watch it shed on you a new light.
Place your feet upon it; stand boldly on its worth.
There is no power that can defeat it on the earth.
Set your eyes ahead on the Truth that you see in faith;
Put your heart to rest and with patience wait.
Stake all you have and will acquire on the value of the Word.
It will not fade away, dissolve, or be deterred.
Show it to others, proclaim its truth to them.
Never fear it will fail you, it will prove true till the end.
There is no power that can cause God’s Word to fail or fall.
Study daily the wisdom that will help you through it all.

Psalms 18:30
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Psalms 119:140
Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

The Heart of a Hero By Brenda Drake

            We to impress others can put on an outward show of goodness, but God sees our inner man and knows our every motive. It is much better to emulate Jesus the One that is truly good. With His help we become His ambassadors in a dark world; able to show the way to the cross that rescues the lost by the Father’s provision of salvation.

The Heart of a Hero

The heart of a hero to the outward eye,
May look the same as a coward on the outside.
It’s the inner place where only God sees clear;
The hero’s heart is touched as God draws near.
Who are God’s heroes? They may surprise you when shown.
They may seem a little strange and stand alone.
Heroes in God’s kingdom look different than what the world proclaims.
By the world’s standards they may be called different names.
True heroes are those that do what is right.
Without thought they are a light.
God’s hero is steadfast in faith.
They are those that are on call to in an instant pray.
They are the ones that turn the cheek and refuse to fight;
Unless it is to stand up tall for what is good and right.
A hero in God’s kingdom may be portrayed as humble or weak;
But it is strength and truth heard when they speak.
The heart of God’s hero beats to the tune of Christ.
They are His workmanship and the bride of His delight.

Matthew 5:3-11
 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter

all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

A World of Hearts By Brenda Drake

The promised, joyful, future ahead; when Christ returns to rule and reign on earth, causes my heart great comfort.  Even in our trying times it can and does bring strength within to carry on, knowing one day we will see and experience complete peace and harmony again.  It will be a wondrous time when all people desire to love and care for one another.

A World of Hearts

A world of hearts joined to one another;
Sisters loving sisters and brothers loving brothers.
Holy and pure, with joy in each step,
Overflowing with peace very well blessed.
Trees bloom with flowers with vines rich to savor;
With more than enough to share with friend and neighbor.
Love rules with wisdom, power, and might,
Perfect in every way, to cause each heart delight.
A world of hearts in one accord,
Under the leadership of Christ the Lord.
Where is the Church you ask at this time?
The bride is with Jesus as He always designed.
So in love are they; what a joy to see,
They are one with Him for eternity.
There is a good future ahead, when Christ rule on earth begins.
But until that day, there are many trials to face my friend,
In a troubled world of hearts in discord.
Rejecting and neglecting the Word of the Lord.
Think on things good, faithful, and true.
As your God reveals what ahead you need to do.

Prayer

I am looking forward to Jesus’ return and the rule of righteousness and peace. Help me to spread the Good News to a troubled world, telling of the loving provision of Your sacrifice and resurrection for all those that will believe.

Revelation 20:6
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Deepest Love By Brenda Drake

What kind of love is this?  The One most- high, the one- most pure, reached down to the lowest most sinful to make him new. The Creator chose to become part of the Creation.  He chose to die to pay the price of sin so we could taste the beauty of His presence. Eternity will allow the redeemed to discover the marvel of such wondrously, deep love.

Deepest Love

A love so deep; the deepest ocean is like a puddle when compared.
A love so wide, the universe cannot have room to spare.
A joy that’s description has never known words to fully teach;
That eon of times ahead and past cannot its limit reach.
A heart so big; a plan so marvelous and grand,
That no mortal ever was, is, or is to be, fully understands.
What is man, that God would place upon him the gift of His love?
Why would He look upon him with such favor from above?
So grand; He planned to make sinful man as clean as His own Son.
And desires to join them forever with Him as one.
It’s almost too much for minds to comprehend;
The fact He also calls to be His friend.
A love so wondrous; He allows man to be of it all a part.
Even grander, He decided to reside within their hearts.
Such a marvel to try to understand
But the wise offer their life to become all He has planned.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an
everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Flower of Eternal Life By Brenda Drake

            I love flowers for their beauty and for their fragrance; and I am disappointed when they wilt and die.  I surround myself with artificial flower arrangements for their lasting beauty but would much more appreciate the real ones.  God makes us all beautiful and a forever bloom in His kingdom.

Flower of Eternal Life

On earth a flower’s beauty fades
On the vine it does not forever stay.
Its promise of pleasure is no more,
Its lovely attributes fall to the earth’s floor.
Flowers on earth are presented as gifts.
The aroma of some, are hard to resist.
Lovely to look at and lovely to smell,
Each bloom has its own story to tell.
Just so are the children in the land.
The flower of youth proudly stands.
But beauty fades and droops down,
With or without sweet aroma also fall to the ground.
But there is a Flower that forever blooms.
He is, was and is coming soon.
He lived, loved, and died for man;
So His life and His love you could understand.
Because you are His and He is in You,
You are now a flower in full bloom.
A forever flower, eternal life lives within.
Because He is life, and You are one with Him,
You are the flower I send to grace the table of the lost;
Full of good fruits that show the way to God’s love on the cross.

1 John 2:17
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will
of God abideth for ever.

Dirtied Flower By Brenda Drake

          We may feel like a wall-flower completely out of step with the ways of the world, and mistakenly think we need to fit in more with our surroundings. But I am realizing it is much better for me to be true to myself and hold in esteem the truths I hold dear. I rather be envisioned as different or as a wall- flower in men’s eyes than to be as a dirtied flower in my own and in God’s eyes.

Dirtied Flower

When the flower falls in the mud, its beauty is not seen.
It’s still a flower but it is not held in as great esteem.
When the flower is with many onions placed,
It is still beautiful but its aroma is erased.
For it is overpowered by the strong odor around them.
It isn’t the most desirable place to be in.
A flower-gift is not appreciated and treated with respect,
When placed into the garbage bin with the rubbish.
This flower is still a flower it is recognized as a good thing,
But it doesn’t inspire the heart with joy or cause it to sing.
It is a waste  – a shame to treat its beauty this way My friend;
For it is indeed a gift the Father to the world sends.
The one dedicated will offer its beauty for those that will see,
So even in the waste-place they may be a gift received.
Flower-of-beauty, shine forth your light,
For you are chosen to be to those that seek a delight!

2 Corinthians 6:14-17
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
