Dirtied Flower By Brenda Drake

          We may feel like a wall-flower completely out of step with the ways of the world, and mistakenly think we need to fit in more with our surroundings. But I am realizing it is much better for me to be true to myself and hold in esteem the truths I hold dear. I rather be envisioned as different or as a wall- flower in men’s eyes than to be as a dirtied flower in my own and in God’s eyes.

Dirtied Flower

When the flower falls in the mud, its beauty is not seen.
It’s still a flower but it is not held in as great esteem.
When the flower is with many onions placed,
It is still beautiful but its aroma is erased.
For it is overpowered by the strong odor around them.
It isn’t the most desirable place to be in.
A flower-gift is not appreciated and treated with respect,
When placed into the garbage bin with the rubbish.
This flower is still a flower it is recognized as a good thing,
But it doesn’t inspire the heart with joy or cause it to sing.
It is a waste  – a shame to treat its beauty this way My friend;
For it is indeed a gift the Father to the world sends.
The one dedicated will offer its beauty for those that will see,
So even in the waste-place they may be a gift received.
Flower-of-beauty, shine forth your light,
For you are chosen to be to those that seek a delight!

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
