In the Lap of Love By Brenda Drake

When we practice the presence of God the dark world and its problems, fade in the light of His love.  What a lovely, wonderful place, its value is more than all the worlds riches!

In the Lap of Love

When you struggle to your feet, and each step is slowed;
There is something that you need to know.
Your burden is too heavy, get on your knees within,
And I will lift you up into the lap of love again.
When you are hurting and your armor has been misplaced,
And you feel weak, come I’ll lift you into My embrace.
Confess yours sin of unforgiveness and you will be,
Lifted within as My strength you receive.
When drained and discouraged in your toil,
And your garments of praise have become soiled,
Come, I’ll refresh you with a new supply.
I’ll lift you up and fill you with fresh joy so you are not dry.
Perhaps you feel lonely and need a friend to speak to;
Come, I’ll lift you up in my lap of love – I will listen to you.
The love of God calls out “Come, I will fill you up”
“It is My desire to show you love”
“Just come and rest – come at any time”
“You do not need a reason when you are Mine”
When a small child appears and simply lays upon your chest,
There is great comfort to your soul as they rest.
Just so the Father’s heart yearns for you to draw near;
Come at any time child, never approach in fear.
When lifted to the lap of love peace will satisfy your soul.
For in this place of luxury, you know beyond a doubt who is in control!

Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The Potter’s Hand By Brenda Drake

When we are at rest it makes it so much easier to be formed by our heavenly Father.
Lord, help us to be yielded and still.

The Potters Hand

The potter forms the clay it is shaped by his hand.
He applies the pressure to make what he plans.
Every movement is important, each step he takes
Forms the piece that he makes.
The vessel is only as good as the potter’s touch.
The one that forms it determines so much.
If he is an amateur he can make mistakes.
And the vessel will be flawed, and could easily break.
When his work is not of much worth it will be hidden from view.
Or it is crushed before it is finished to redo.
But there is a Potter that perfectly molds His vessel of earth.
He is carefully forming and never tires of His work.
His hand is lovingly developing the clay to become,
A beautiful vessel that holds the Spirit of the Son.
It is to be filled with the oil of joy and peace.
It will never run dry it is to be filled with increase.
This vessel is lovely, and it is pure and undefiled.
It causes the Father’s heart to smile.
It’s bought and paid for at a great price;
For it cost the Son of God His life
It will be filled to overflowing with His sweet wine.
The work of the Master-Potter is good- it is fine.
Each individual so intricate and unique no one else can take their place.
Every saved soul is a masterpiece of His grace.

Isaiah 64:8
But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Wisps of Truth By Brenda Drake

The Holy Spirit starts His holy work long before we know or even desire to know God.  In times of quiet, and in times of trial we are touched with fascinating strands of truth. The salvation story enters into the hungry seeking heart.  I now have a great hunger for the Word.  God feeds me often all the wisdom I desire, and encourages me to even hunger for more!

Wisps of Truth

Wisps of truth, like delicate strands of gold
Deposited in the secret place the heart holds
Interwoven threads of goodness pure and undefiled
Bits of God’s wisdom that causes the heart to smile
Wondrous revelations that reveal God’s power and might
That floods the inner sanctuary with eternal lights
A supernatural breath of air that lifts up the heart to receive
That, that their faith believes
The truth of God’s love has a sweet taste
As God introduces the wonder of His grace
The captive is freed, like an eagle soars to great height
As God’s forgiveness fills the soul with unearthly delights
Great desire fills this place with the need to give praise
At the truth of unworthiness, the heart bows amazed
Beautifully adorned in worship as a living sacrifice
Filled and overflowing, one with Jesus Christ
A marvelous union so intricately designed
One with the Truth – perfectly aligned
Seek God and you will find peace
Seek His ability for He is your strength
Hunger for righteousness – He is the bread
Thirst for His wisdom, He is the head
Rest in His goodness, entrust your life to His care
He is the fullness you seek, He is always willing to share
Every trial you face, know He guides your step
Every battle formed against you He is prepared for it
Read God’s Word each and every day
And the delicate strands of His truth will show you His way

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free

Planted for the Lord By Brenda Drake

I was a sad and bitter person before I was born again in Christ and became a new creature.   But there are still times when I begin to resemble the old man again. When this happens I know I need to again repent and allow my Lord to rule within me.  I trust Him to finish the good work He started in me.  All the glory goes to Him.  He is the good seed within me.

Planted for God

An apple is just an apple until it yields its seed.
Then it becomes an orchard that multitudes feed.
Apples that are firm, tastes sweet and good,
They yield good healthy seeds as they should.
A profitable planting one day is its boast.
A successful crop consumed the most.
Who desires a bitter, mushy apple, shriveled up?
Who would gather its seeds to raise an orchard up?
An apple may look good and yet does not taste well,
From a distance it is very hard to tell.
But under close inspection its worth,
Is determined before it’s used to replenish the earth.
In this apple story the truth you can see.
Your life like the apple can be planted for the King.
But, if you are bitter, you cannot glorify Jesus’ name.
If you are soft and mushy with testimony the same,
Your influence will rise up more of the same kind.
Come I will heal you to be as I have designed.
Sweet because of Jesus; firm as the Word’s foundation too,
A wealth of good seeds I will plant through you.

John 15:4-5
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Faith is Like By Brenda Drake

At times I feel I understand and have faith and at other times I have none because of unbelief.  Real faith is in God and His Word.  We do not always possess great faith but faith the size of a mustard seed is enough.

Faith is Like

Faith is like technology; it takes a while to grasp,
But when you do the world opens up, in fact,
You are able to do much more than you ever thought you could.
And you can accomplish much more than you ever thought you would.
Faith is like a light that illuminates the mind;
What was not comprehended is clearly defined.
Faith sees what is not seen by the eyes.
In confidence faith’s expectations will not be denied.
Faith is like the sleeping giant that does not know his might;
But when revived, is unstoppable, and ready to fight.
Faith in God and in His holy word,
Will speak forth the impossible and when it is heard,
Angels rush to greet it and the demons flee;
For the light of God’s power shakes the heavenly.
Faith is just a word that exclaims,
The truth the Father wills in Jesus’ name.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Luke 17:6
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

We Do Not Battle Alone By Brenda Drake

Putting on the Armor of God

The world weighs heavy on the heart.  There is so much going on that I do not like.  When it is overwhelming and I begin to get depressed and discouraged, I know it is past the time I should have brought each troubling situation to the Lord in prayer.  When I pray I am strengthened to continue doing all I am able to do while I trust God to do what needs to be done in the very best way.

We Do Not Battle Alone

Things are sometimes hard to understand.
Some people are so tormented that walk the land.
They are surrounded with circumstances not good;
They are taken for granted and misunderstood.
Children are born in family’s evil in every way;
Who mistreat and misuse them each day.
There are some cruel and make life very hard to bear.
People suffer unspeakable things and feel no one cares.
Countless crimes are committed, so senseless in their attacks.
Fear and anxiety too many are everyday facts.
What can I do or to say in such a despairing times?
I need life-giving words to speak that are not mine.
Who is able to help their terrible plight escape?
Who will assist them before it is too late?
Does prayer help without a helping hand?
Father, allow me to know what to do when I can.
Give me Your wisdom to the battle fight.
Give me ability to make a difference in another’s life.
Jesus I need eyes to see and ears to hear their plea,
Then provide me courage to reach out for You to help in their need.
The main thing needed is to fully know.
We do not go into battle alone ….You are in control.

Ephesian 6:11-12
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

From the Evil Path Set Free By Brenda Drake

I have walked the path of least resistance many times.  I made the excuse of wanting to live a peace filled life.  It really was a lukewarm way of trying to fit in the world. I am glad my Lord will not make excuses for my evil ways and He is faithful to point out my inconsistencies.

From the Evil Path Set Free

Where the road leads they travel with the flow.
It is decided by the majority which way they go.
They have favorite saying that justify their stand;
Things like, “It was meant to be” or “It was out of my hands.”
It is almost unthinkable to cause a godly stir,
Even to be more convincing they will use God’s Word.
Such as “I must live in peace,” or” I must love my brother,”
“There is not anyone any better than another.”
“All fall short and all are sinners,” or Everybody makes mistakes.”
They will say, “I cannot push too hard or the reed will break.”
Yes there are many good answers that give good excuse,
For a sinful or lazy attitude; a passive life of no real use
But you will find some travel in the opposite direction.
They disrupt the flow at every intersection.
They are a constant obstacle that the world hates to see.
These are the one in service to me.
They say what God’s Word says, they do as Jesus did.
They do the opposite of what the world is.
They give instead of hording they look up instead of down.
They guard closely the truth, they stand their ground.
They angrily will fight to help out another,
And they will hold out their arms for a cover.
They cause disturbance in the heavenly for their prayers go before them.
They trust their leader Jesus and they adore Him.
Their lives are given to live for Him who died so they could be.
From the flow of the evil world’s path set free.

Matthew 7:12
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Show and Extend Grace By Brenda Drake

Many forget God’s grace is a gift of undeserved favor and begin to rely on their own excellence. Then when they fail at their attempt in a walk of perfection they become discouraged and in need of a kind and understanding word of direction to redirect back into the arms of grace. .

Show and Extend Grace

Dejected and dismayed,
Forlorn  and unmade.
Hope is gone and faith has fled,
Recalling no more what God’s Word says.
He measures by the world’s scales his worth.
With opened eyes to his lack his heart hurts.
He has tried to do right in his own strength,
But the way ahead is harder than he thinks.
His companions within; boastfulness and pride,
Loudly speaks out like a blasting horn inside.
At life’s injustices anger seethes deep within,
Ready to emerge like a bomb lit in him.
He is a sad creature; few know the truth of his woe.
He is the one who tries to always be in control.
Pray for him for he needs to see and know his true worth,
It was measured when Christ came to earth.
Jesus paid a price large at Calvary.
On the cross He died to set him free.
When you see him, show and extend grace;
So the God that so loved him can again show him His face.

Titus 2:11
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Run to God By Brenda Drake

It is crucial to trust God.   There are times when our world is seemingly turned upside down and out of control. When we settle in our heart that God loves us and that He is in control, we in confidence are able to rely on the promises in the Word. We will not run away from Him but will run to Him for help.

Run to God

Do not be afraid, when God is your friend.
Because of Jesus you can run to Him.
Jesus’ life paved the way,
So, on His path you are able to stay.
When distressed with all kinds of woe,
Run to Him; share with Him what He already knows.
When you are angry or bitter with another,
Run to God and you will discover,
The heart willing to forgive finds release.
Hearts fly free to rest in peace,
Are you feeling alone all by yourself?
God is always near and always willing to help.
Are you weary in your toil? Do you feel weak?
Turn to God and His assistance seek.
He is willing to carry you until strength returns again.
So, in the next issue faced you are able to again run to Him.
Come when you are happy and full of joy too.
For God rejoices as He runs with you.

Psalms 37:39-40
But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked,
and save them, because they trust in him.

No Turning Back By Brenda Drake

I remember well the day I cemented my commitment to the Lord.  I made up my mind I will not turn back.  I have never regretted my decision.  When times get hard I rely on His help to keep me true to my pledge.  The Word of God reminds me of my place in Him and the promises of His provisions.

No Turning Back

No turning back, no looking back, onward I go.
Nothing or anyone will stop me I am headed for the goal.
My mind and heart is set, my eyes seek to see,
The plan Father-God has planned for me.
It is His Word I listen to, it is His wisdom I crave.
It is His strength I rely on as He guides the way.
Jesus is my example, I follow hard after Him.
He is my Lord, Savior and very best friend.
With His authority I tell mountains to depart.
Demons flee when Jesus rules in my heart.
It is His voice they hear when I proclaim,
Victory, in Jesus’ name.
My treasure is in heaven, but I still sing as I go,
For the earth’s treasures I seek are souls.
Souls that are brought to the cross of Christ,
That also will set their heart and life,
On the path of no return to the better place,
Where heaven and earth touches under grace.
The embrace of God satisfies heart, mind and soul;
Fully and completely in His loving control.

Psalms 37:23
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:
and he delighteth in his way.
