How much is Obedience Worth? By Brenda Drake

How much is Obedience Worth?
If you love me my commandments you will obey,
As your best foot forward is placed.
What are my commands? Love God with all your heart, soul and mind,
And love others as you love yourself; then you will find,
You are doing as Jesus did on earth.
You will love others so much it hurts.
He walked upon the dusty streets to lead the way,
To the golden streets of Heaven one day.
He healed those who were lame, diseased, and blind.
He comforted those who needed peace of mind.
He loved the unlovely till they shined bright;
Always with words and deeds that showed the way right.
If you love me follow after me,
How much obedience is worth you will surely see.
Obedience is worth life, health, and peace of mind.
It is worth more than all the earth’s gold you could ever find.
Obedience is exactly what Jesus did at Calvary.
He followed through with Salvation’s plan to set you free.
Luke 10:29
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
John 14:10
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Faith is Born By Brenda Drake

Faith is Born
As a baby within is formed
When he is ready he is born
Though very small at the start
Within the beginning is the heart
The heart of faith is the Word
When it matures then confession is heard
Then as time passes what was hoped for comes to pass
The answer …faith is manifested at last!
The love of the Father sent us His Son
And His love calls out to the lost “Come”
Jesus, The Word enters the believing heart
His love and the Word fill you and the development of faith starts
Hear
The Word, The Truth, = Jesus
Believe
The truth, = The Word, Jesus
Confess
The Word, = God’s Promises
And make your requests
In the name of Jesus
Testify
Of the promises of the Word
Then rest (trust) In the faithfulness of God
And you will receive
Faith is born!
When the Heart Whispers by Brenda Drake

When discouraged, or overburdened by troubles, and the world’s noise wear you down remember …God is always near, He always cares; and He never takes His eyes off of you. You are more precious to Him than you will ever fully comprehend. Get into a quiet place, do not allow anything stop you from taking precious time to listen to His still voice that will calm your fears and will fill you with all the strength you need to get your joy back.
When the Heart Whispers
When the heart whispers God hears its plea.
It sounds strong even when you feel weak.
When trouble and trials wear you down within,
Your determined inner hope whispers to Him.
As you continue to trust…the whisper is loud and clear.
A beautiful Psalm of praise reaches His ear.
The Word of God that rests upon the lips of clay,
Is like a mighty shout when prayed.
A sigh, a song of adoration, or a silent prayer is loud and clear;
All are very precious to the loving God that draws near.
Never feel separated and alone…no matter what you go through,
For your Lord is always intent on you.
Never feel the need to a perfect prayer compose.
Never think you need a perfect time, place, or pious pose.
All you need is to humble yourself to God above.
Come at any time in the attitude of love.
Even in the times you do not have any strength to speak,
Remember God hears every whisper of the heart that seeks.
Isaiah 88:24
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear
Psalma 145:18
The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth
We Do Not Battle Alone By Brenda Drake

We Do Not Battle Alone
Things are sometimes hard to understand.
Some people are so tormented that walk the land.
They are surrounded with circumstances not good;
Taken for granted and misunderstood.
Children are born into families evil in every way;
Who mistreat and misuse them each day.
There are some very cruel and make life very hard to bear.
People suffer unspeakable things and no one seems to care.
Countless crimes are committed, so senseless in their attacks.
Fear and anxiety too many are everyday facts.
What can I do or to say in such a despairing times?
I need life-giving words to speak that are not mine.
Who is able to help their terrible plight escape?|
Who will assist them before it is too late?
Does prayer help without a helping hand?
Father allow me to know what to do when I can.
Give me Your wisdom to the battle fight.
Give me ability to make a difference in another’s life.
Jesus I need eyes to see and ears to hear their plea,
Then provide me courage to reach out for You to help in their need.
The main thing needed is to fully know.
We do not go into battle alone ….You are in control.
Ephesian 6:11-12
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Number One in all Things by Brenda Drake

I love my husband, children, grandchildren, and now my grandchildren; but I can truthfully say I love Jesus more. I remember the day I first read the scripture, I needed to forsake all others and hate mother, father, spouse and children I was afraid I was going to fail Jesus. He deserves to be number One because He is number One. He is Alfa and Omega, the begining and the end.
Number One in all Things
Put all your prize possessions on the scale of life
Do they measure up when compared with pleasing Christ?
If they are multiplied a thousand times more
Would they come close to your love of the Lord?
Your answer is no… for nothing compares with Him.
No treasure can weigh as heavy within.
And yet when you hear you must all things forsake,
The alarm causes a double take.
Do you reason with yourself?
And make excuses and begin to doubt?
And think… surely it does not mean,
That special person or that certain thing?
Your Lord is always to be number One in every way.
Number One in what you do and in what you say.
He is to be loved above everyone and every thing.
When you willingly and wholeheartedly do this, your heart will sing.
Gladly give it all…whatever is your treasure.
All is required to bring Him pleasure.
But He loves you so much …He said all you need to do is ask;
He joys over you …and gives you much more back.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Luke 14:26
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
1John 3:22
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments,
and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
What’s on my Mind? By Brenda Drake
What’s on my mind and on my heart? Here goes. This is my attempt to write not in rhyme but in prose. I would like to think I am wiser than I used to be, my God over the years has poured so much in me, but every once and awhile I get a glimpse back at who I was in my past. Then I wonder was that really me back then? Yes there is a difference I am new and changed by Him. My heart now really does care for those around me, I am now very aware of nature’s beauty that surrounds me. I am now able to look into someone’s eyes and see God looking back, and I now appreciate all I do have and not concentrate on all that I lack. When you look back are you aware of the changes in you? I believe you are a miracle in progress too. Aren’t you glad God poured Himself out to fill us up with Him? I know I am wiser because Jesus lives within. So now as you can see all I have to say does not need to rhyme. Perhaps I will share my heart in my attempt of prose yet another time.
Flowers From a Hopeful Heart by Brenda Drake

I love flowers. I am not a gardener. My love of flowers does not come from my efforts. God is the gardener of our soul. He is the beauty that flowers from within us. Oh how sweet is the love of God, He deserves all the praise and glory.
Flowers from a Hopeful Heart
Like the sweet aroma of a willing rose,
Are praises of a heart that God’s Word knows.
Hopeful hearts see the sun shine ahead on a rainy day.
Though cloudy on the outside they are warmed by inner rays.
Another flower that comes from the heart of hope,
Is the sure knowledge their God is in control.
The sweet assurance of His love and care,
Is another flower of hope to with another share.
Flowers from a hopeful heart walk at a steady pace,
Under the sure covering of God’s mercy and grace.
They walk in His anointing and of His nourishment partakes.
Lights in the dark world all the difference makes.
An encouraging word, the loving timely rebuke,
A helping hand in time of need; are all flowers delivered too.
There is sweet aroma of a life whose hope is in God above.
Flowers that bloom in the land as seeds planted in the garden of love.
Ephesians 5:1-2
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Log Problems By Brenda Drake

Forgive as you keep your eyes on Christ
As we behold and try to assist in another’s shortcomings we sometimes tend to overlook our own flaws. Our own attitudes of forgiveness can only be revealed and helped by the Lord that loved us in spite our flaws. The beam in our eye is removed by Him so we are able to help another.
Log Problems
There is a log problem when,
You are unable to comprehend,
There is a terrible blockage in your sight;
When, your outlook is not quite right.
Example- the times of anger, believing no one cares,
When you tend to the inner fires, know, there is a log problem there.
What are you to do about it you ask?
Put out the fire, put it out fast.
Forgive the trespass and the short sight of another.
When you do you will discover,
The freedom to again praises sing,
By loving your brother and thus honoring Christ the King.
There are slivers to be tended to in life,
But they must be removed with your eyes on Christ.
Do you have a log problem to be solved?
It is wise when God is asked to be involved.
Ask for His assistance and you will agree,
Things look much better when clearly you are able to see.
Eyes of love and mercy with words that heal,
Break down the log jams to see rightly and again God’s love feel.
Matthew 7:5
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye

Just an Ordinary Woman By Brenda Drake

Do you feel insignificant and ordinary? Perhaps this is good. It does not always feel good though. It is a perspective issue. We need to think this through, and get God’s viewpoint. God uses a seed to grow a tree.
Just an Ordinary Woman
I am just an ordinary woman amidst extraordinary times.
What am I able to accomplish good and fine?
Could I step out of the low place of my birth,
To achieve great worth?
Is there a certain road to travel to ensure success?
I wonder if it is an attitude or words needed to confess?
Just an ordinary woman with big dreams inside;
Is there a formula or recipe to keep them alive?
What is ordinary? Was that what Mother Mary would have claimed?
I believe it was what mother Theresa desired to remain.
Yes I am just an ordinary woman dedicated to God above.
With His favor I am lifted in my spirit by His love.
Use me Lord to reach out to touch,
Some of those who feel just ordinary to find the truth in Your love.
1Peter 2:9-10
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
