Wisps of Truth By Brenda Drake

      The Holy Spirit starts His holy work long before we know or even desire to know God.  In times of quiet, and of trial we are touched with fascinating strands of truth. The salvation story enters into the hungry seeking heart.  I now have a great hunger for the Word.  God feeds me often all the wisdom I desire, and encourages me to even consume more!

Wisps of Truth

Wisps of truth, like delicate strands of gold
Deposited in the secret place the heart holds
Interwoven threads of goodness pure and undefiled
Bits of God’s wisdom that causes the heart to smile
Wondrous revelations that reveal God’s power and might
That floods the inner sanctuary with eternal lights
A supernatural breath of air that lifts up the heart to receive
That, that their faith believes
The truth of God’s love has a sweet taste
As God introduces the wonder of His grace
The captive is freed, like an eagle soars to great height
As God’s forgiveness fills the soul with unearthly delights
Great desire fills this place with the need to give praise
At the truth of unworthiness, the heart bows amazed
Beautifully adorned in worship as a living sacrifice
Filled and overflowing, one with Jesus Christ
A marvelous union so intricately designed
One with the Truth – perfectly aligned
Seek God and you will find peace
Seek His ability for He is your strength
Hunger for righteousness – He is the bread
Thirst for His wisdom, He is the head
Rest in His goodness, entrust your life to His care
He is the fullness you seek, He is always willing to share
Every trial you face, know He guides your step
Every battle formed against you He is prepared for it
Read God’s Word each and every day
And the delicate strands of His truth will show you His way

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free

Long for Good News? By Brenda Drake

            Christmas-time for many; is filled with joy, peace and hope as we remember our Savior’s
birth and reminded of the great gift of His sacrifice in our behalf.  But soon we are painfully assaulted with the daily news and again we shake our heads at the craziness of our times.

Long Good News?

Do you long for good news instead of bad?
Have you nearly lost all the faith you thought you had?
Does the promise of tomorrow mar your today?
Do you wish peace would return and evil chased away?
If so there is some Good New you may have heard before,
The future is in the hands of the Lord.
He has conquered evil although the world does not show it,
The day comes soon when everyone knows it.
Pray for peace in the land.
Pray eyes will see and ears will hear God’s plan.
Until the earth’s harvest is done,
Your job is to pray, and to watch for the return of God’s Son.
He that lived and died and lives forever more;
Is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
He who rose to sit at the Father’s side,
Soon returns to collect His Bride.
 Do you long for peace and joy to touch the earth I ask?
Then steadfastly look for the good and do not turn back.

John 14:27-29
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe.

How is Wrong Shown as Right? By Brenda Drake

Biblical vector illustration series, Adam and Eve, Eve offering the apple to Adam

            It seems that more and more good morals and the values of the Word of God is shunned and disrespected.  Even when the world shows its terrible colors, and makes absolutely no sense some still profess the way wrong is right.  It is our choice do we follow God or do we go the way of the world?

How is Wrong Shown as Right?

How is it wrong is shown as right?
And the foul becomes acceptable in your sight?
What makes a man not see his rightful place?
He eats with the swine and refuses the table of grace.
When the world tumbles and begins to spin out of control,
How is it they do not reach for God’s loving-hold?
It is sad to see their stubborn stance,
That is so ready to fight God’s will in their circumstance.
They choose to dance to the tune of the world in its unholy light;
Remaining in the world’s mire they delight.
Utter nonsense piles up within,
Fueling the fire of their sins.
Far-reaching damage is inside done,
When the fool turns his heart from God’s Son.
Sin is the culprit- evil appetites are the result they reap.
The Good News that frees them they refuse to keep.
So they will not taste the things beautiful and healthy for them prepared.
To do your part pray and continue to the truth with them share.

Isaiah 42:6-7
I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;
I will take you by the hand and keep you;
I will give you as a covenant for the people,
a light for the nations,
 to open the eyes that are blind,
to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,
from the prison those who sit in darkness.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

The Healing Aroma By Brenda Drake

            The greatest day of my life was when I accepted Jesus.  The flowers looked and smelled sweeter and more colorful.  My heart felt free; soaring over every care of life.  I have had many encounters where God healed a hurt, a worry, and even bad attitudes.  I cannot imagine a world without the secret place of prayer where I am daily touched by His love.

The Healing Aroma

The healing aroma upon a life sore,
Delivers flowers of hope and peace from the Lord.
Where there was darkness and inner pain,
And accusations and heavy chains,
There is a now glimmer of light,
Free from torment and filled with inner delight.
The air smells like love and breath unrestrained,
Joyful anticipation has dulled life’s pain.
It is a beautiful place prepared for each soul;
 A lovely, healthy-place for the wise to go.
Angels strain to see how the change takes place;
How the strain of life’s problems are erased.
How faces shine and love words freely flow,
From very grateful, God-loving souls.
God’s healing touch is not just a onetime thing.
It is His gift He will daily bring.
So come and enjoy the place of health prepared for your soul;
Into the loving presence of the One that your heart holds.

Isaiah 57:18-19
I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.  I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him.

Woke By Brenda Drake

It feels like we are in a bad dream at times.  In our world what is up is declared as down. What is wrong is declared as right. Everything we have been taught is being nullified. However we are not fooled when we have found the Truth for He has woken us up to be aware of the enemy’s deception.

Woke

It is strange how meanings of words collide;
How their intents are on opposite sides.
God calls us to wake up to the truth receive.
So His soon return we can see.
He desires us to wake up to the call of love,
Born again to experience His touch.
Woke; the sleeping bride prepares for Jesus’ return;
Wise virgins with lamps tended with oil to burn.
To be “Woke” is an evil call as well;
With a very different story to tell.
These hear and are deceived to believe a lie.
They do not or they refuse to the truth recognize
Their life a different story shares,
Honoring their source of power unaware.
The evil-one marches forward with steps bold and rash,
Declaring a woke-generation, that does not rely on truth or facts.
Are you awake to God and His provision of love and care,
Able to the good news with others share,
Or woke to lying, seducing, killing spirits that promise things untrue
Your decision proves the Master you choose.

Romans 13:11-12
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
