Have A Merry Christmas by Brenda Drake

Have a Merry Christmas

We celebrate Jesus, His love and His birth;
 As we again marvel how the Creator chose to come to earth.
 He was born of a virgin as was foreordained;
 Witnessed by a star His holy entrance proclaimed.
 Angels sang of God’s purpose to those who would hear,
 Shepherds and wise men bowed as they drew near.
 We give gifts to others to celebrate God’s greatest gift bestowed.
 He is the greatest gift our hearts can hold.
 When we share Him we share life,
 When we share Him we share light.
 He is the bread that nourishes our soul.
 He is the one that makes lost found and the empty full and whole.
 When we celebrate Christmas we honor Him.
 So again I say, Merry Christmas let our celebrations begin!

Christmas Gift Retold By Brenda Drake

Christmas Gift Retold

In our Country Thanksgiving is the start,
Of Christmas seasons journey of the heart.
We give thanks to our Creator for all the blessings bestowed.
To the wise the truth of the greatest gift unfolds,
Jesus birth to the one wise
Is a window of opportunity to open the heart’s eyes.
The utter beauty of a love so grand,
Is as hard as it is easy to understand.
God so loved the world He sent His Son,
To be born of a virgin to die a sinful, painful, death for everyone.
This love could and would be grasped by many, but shunned by many too.
But the beauty of God’s gift is each year its retold and delivered again to me and you.
Gifts are exchanged and goodwill expressed to one another,
Families are drawn together to their love rediscover,
Trees are lit in colors bright to behold,
And an angel or star placed high to lead to the joys that under the tree unfolds.
But the wise still remember why they have this day of celebration,
That Jesus is the reason for the season.
Lift up oh heart in praise at a love so grand,
That even the unbelievers celebrate what they don’t yet understand.

The Tree of Celebration By Brenda Drake

            It is good to praise and celebrate the birth of the Lord.  A part of our celebration is the tree that we light and decorate. I celebrate every year the birth of Jesus the One that hung on a tree for the sins of us all.

The Tree of Celebration by Brenda Drake

Once was the days of youth, when you searched for the tree;
Tromping through the snow with vigor and glee;
Laughing at each other’s choices,
Until “the one” chosen was proclaimed in jubilant voices.
Out came the treasured ornaments from the past and some new,
 A pretty angel or the star was placed on top too.
The dry fallen needles embedded in the cracks in the floor,
Were gladly endured to celebrate the birth of the Lord.
In later years came the tree that did not grow,
One that needed to be formed by a color code.
Beautiful still and still caused much pleasure;
Holding all your newest and oldest homemade treasures.
And now much later perhaps in your life,
The tree has shrunk down in your sight.
A tiny little tree that on a table sits;
But still your love and respect for Jesus represents.
With a tiny little tree, heart memories abound;
As you reminiscence tromping in snowy ground.
And you wonder at the change that has taken place within,
A you celebrate Christ’s birth watching palms blowing in the wind

Psalms 147:1
Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

Have a Good Christmas By Brenda Drake

            Jesus is the greatest gift ever bestowed upon man.  We celebrate the Christ’s birth by giving gifts to one another.  With him dwelling inside we are able to become a gift delivered from God.

Have a good Christmas.

From the hand should come assistance, from the heart… concern
From the eyes… a light of love should burn
From the mouth…. praise and worship, and words that uplift
The life of the child of God is a gift
A gift worth more than they know
For they were bought by Love that God bestowed
Man is a gift to man if within is God’s Son
Because of his contents… he a gift becomes
Do not withhold kindness, always share your life
Give of yourself,  as you practice self-sacrifice
Always do the good work, never put the good thought aside
By actions you prove to the dying world Who lives inside
Your willing heart and hands can do great service for the King
Your kind words and singled eye will a great harvest bring
Reach out and touch someone in Jesus’ name
For by your faithful service, you’ve a gift became
A lovely gift valued both by man and God above
A lovely gift filled with God’s own sweet love

Jerimiah 17:10
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

John 20:21
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

When Christmas-time Hurts By Brenda Drake

   This is truly a wonderful time of year; even strangers seem to have ready smiles and greetings of good cheer.  In our excitement and bustle we forget Christmas time is lonely for many around us; life-situations have caused hurts and heartaches that has stolen the beauty of their holiday. Lord, help us to be aware of the feelings of others and remind us to lift their spirits by our prayers, love, and concern.

When Christmas Time Hurts

When Christmas-time hurts and joy has fled far away,
And there is no magic left in this once-special day.
All the sweet songs that once cheered now causes sadness within.
Oh how you would love to find pleasure in them again.
The hurting heart remembers sadly its personal loss,
And refuses to be cheered so their mind is cross.
Held in a prison unable to look outside to see,
The gift of the Christmas story that sets them free.
When Christmas-time hurts there is remedy to heal;
Its power is sure, its touch is real.
Find another person that has a heart that is down,
Do something, anything that removes their frown.
Find a little child that has lack,
Provide for them and your joy comes back.
Get your mind in things good, right, pure and true;
Set yourself to motion to the good thing do.
Bring your aching heart to the Father for His healing touch.
Renew your faith as you to Him entrust;
All the hurts, pains of this time of year,
Little by little the sweet joy and peace of Christmas reappears.

Luke 2:13-14
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Life Was Born by Brenda Drake

   When I think of Christmas I remember great family times for I love to give presents to those I love.  Our heavenly Father loved us so much He sent His Son to give us life; with opportunity to have eternal life with Him.  Jesus is Truth, Life, and the Way.  We have much to celebrate for He is the real reason for the season.

Life Was Born

In the small babe life was born.
He restored what was from us torn.
In this small babe hope is restored;
For all, who desire to call on Him as Lord.
In this miracle of life comes the redemption plan;
He is a never-before never-again gift sent to man.
Joy to the world! At the entrance of the King;
And at the name of Jesus angels sing.
The wise men brought gifts to God’s gift to man.
The Creator of earth would walk on the land.
We celebrate His birth and enjoy the Christmas season;
But most do not acknowledge the real reason.
Christmas trees are lit up with colors bright,
With many other festivities to cause delight.
Such as Santa, reindeer, and elves on the shelf;
Along with other things, that tend to push Jesus out.
Jesus is the One who should hold the special place.
His name is above all names when the truth is embraced.
Children are touched by all of our Christmas stories;
But the wise of the world will give to God all the glory.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Love is Still Alive By Brenda Drake

Love is Still Alive

Shoe boxes are passed to the underprivileged on Christmas Day.
Little trinkets and small necessities in it arrayed.
Seemingly a little mundane; but not to them;
They oh and awe at the little treasures packed in.
Most have many boxes under the tree;
With special offerings from friends and family.
Although there is anticipation in each gift received,
Many things they do not need.
Some have found although gifts are nice,
It does not matter how much the price.
It matters more when those they love gathers.
To celebrate their special day together.
Real-joy knows personally the One adored;
Recognizing the Heavenly Father’s gift in the birth of your Lord.
Christmas means many things to those about,
That Jesus is the real reason for the season the wise find out.
God is love. He is our gift of life new.
He came to earth and died for me and you;
His love and peace now lives inside,
As we joyfully give to others we prove love is still alive.

1 John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Forgotten Gift By Brenda Drake

In our Christmas celebrations let us not forget Jesus, the real reason for the season.

The Forgotten Gift

The forgotten gift under the tree,
Was a seemingly unimportant thing to see.
Of all the packages this one thing,
Could cause the thankful heart to sing.
Forgotten gifts have ruined the day for some;
Never easily again would the same mistake be done.
Like a tiny battery that is not there;
Such a small thing that was spared.
Forgotten in the preparations- they just slipped the mind.
Usually they will not be overlooked the next time.

In the celebrations of Christmas multitudes do the same thing,
They forget to give honor to Christ bring:
The gift on the tree,
That purchased all they would ever need.
They forget the reason for the season, God’s gift to man.
His birth was the beginning of the Father’s Masterplan.

You may have forgotten the gift Jesus most craves;
As you pass gifts to others on Christmas day.
But His love reaches across the world with joy and peace,
 As the old and the young His bounty receive.
He has not and never will forget your name.
He has carried every worry, every sin and every shame.
For those who believe, His love has already for you prepared a place,
To receive His gift to live forever in His loving embrace.

Revelations 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
