God is Near By Brenda Drake

There are times when everything feels like roses, and I feel God’s love surrounding me.  Then there are the days when I feel life just plain stinks.  When we keep our heart and mind on Jesus, and lift up all our concerns; soon all is well with my soul again.

God is Near

The breath of the wind, soft and gentle in its ways;
Soothes the body and the spirit on a warm day.
At peace, at rest, relaxing in Him;
Marveling in the touch you feel within.
When the sun shines upon you with its warmth just right;
This too is a time when in God’s presence you delight.
When you see the tiny child peacefully playing nearby,
In the innocence of faith reach to the sky.
When you hear joyous laughter by a stranger on the street,
If you look closely it could be an angel that you meet.
When you are silently at rest with spirit quiet too,
If you listen you may hear God’s whisper to you.
In your hard time with voices hard and loud,
 And you feel stressed and lost in a crowd,
When the winds howl and scream in your ear,
And you are unsettled, filled with anxiety and fear,
When your neighbor is angry and you feel under attack,
And you are extremely frustrated where you are at,
If you will lift your heart, your voice, and your ear,
You will find even in these situations your God is still near.

Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Tender Thoughts By Brenda Drake

There is value in our words and actions but perhaps we need to start with our thought life.  The Word of God instructs us to think on things good and true.

Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Tender Thoughts

Tender thoughts flow through the heart as a soothing embrace
And the words formed are sweet to taste,
Gentle, flowering, sacrifices offered up in prayer.
Love shows its face to the God that cares.
The sweet perfume of sacrifice fills the atmosphere,
In the holy anointing that proves your God is near.
Deep sighs of peace in God’s comfort rests,
With satisfied heart convinced to watch for God’s best.
Hope filled eyes search for any sign,
To know and to follow as God designs.
The face lifts for heaven’s kiss,
As the coal is placed on unholy lips.
Praise and worship and wisdom will depart,
From the one that has a yielded and a still heart.
Tender thoughts, with words kind and full of respect,
Can a great harvest expect.
Practice makes perfect – with God’s help within,
Vessels are made as pure as God already sees them.
Follow the example of Jesus for He loved man so much,
He thought tender thoughts toward all as on the cross He touched.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

The Touch Gentle By Brenda Drake

I marvel at the wonderful work of the Spirit that begins much sooner than we are aware.  Little by little I think the realization and the wonder of the love of God sinks in, softening and preparing us to truly see the truth of the condition of our soul.  At our repentance He rushes in to rescue and to save our soul.

The Touch Gentle
by Brenda Drake

When we are touched by the gentle presence above,
Our heart is moved by His awesome love.
He introduces Himself through the truth of a love so grand;
He chose to die to show us His Master plan.
Little by little He chips at our hard façade,
That entices us to discover the reality of God.
To see a love wider and deeper than the sea,
That’s span encompasses eternity.
Words fine and gentle lift us to the place;
To receive the benefit of His amazing grace.
The severed spirit is restored;
In the perfect peace, one with the Lord.
Silent accusations and the world’s loud threat,
Are placed at the feet Jesus to rest.
Circumstances must align with the will of God above.
He is the Author and Finisher of our love.
The heart is full of Him and the mind seldom strays for long;
For in Him and for Him your commitment is strong.
One day soon, with lamp tended you will see Jesus face to face.
Where you will forever enjoy and rest in His loving embrace.

Psalms 139:5-6
Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

I Walk Toward What Already Surrounds Me By Brenda Drake

You are everywhere and are everything to me.

I Walk Toward What Surrounds Me

I walk toward what already surrounds me.
I am seeking what has already found me.
My darkened understanding is beginning to see,
The light of the truth that is revealed to me.
All of my thinking was upside down;
All my ways and motives and beliefs were unsound.
What mattered most I now count as less.
What I did not desire is now in my eyes the best.
The fleeting pleasures of self and its ways,
Is now to be sacrificed and cast away.
As I walk toward the One that I desire,
The coldness within is replaced with His fire.
As I dream of the eternal place ahead,
I can more appreciate the life He now gives.
I used to dream of life full of every worldly attraction;
But as I have tasted its wealth…less is the satisfaction.
For what I desire even more,
Are the love, fellowship, and presence of my Lord.
The world’s turmoil, stress, and unrest,
Is unsettling and in a terrible mess.
But I am finding any place my feet trod,
There is a wonderful refuge of peace in God.
For no matter where I go,
He is the comfort for my soul.
I continue to walk toward the One that surrounds me is true.
He is my world now and in the next world too.

Act 17:28
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own
poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

I Walk With You By Brenda Drake

There are times we feel we are all alone and no one cares about us.  It is untrue. When we are God’s child He is always with us and for us.  He is always on our side through good and bad times.  Every day is opportunity to walk with God and with His strength in every situation we encounter.

I Walk With You

In the world’s dark places where sadness or fear
Is present, know I am near.
When you have a heart-heavy my friend,
Remember your God lives and lifts from within.
Allow the Spirit to cause comfort deep inside.
Know I walk with you as in Me you abide.
In life’s confusing places it feels like maize without escape.
Remember Your Father sees all…all the difference it will make.
When your prayers vanish from inability to speak,
Allow your God to assist you …His strength seek.
I walk with you in good and in bad times too;
But in your struggle I carry you.
In the darkness I am your light.
In your blindness I give you eternal insight.
I am with you even when you sleep.
You are always on My mind for your soul I keep.

 John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

He Loves the Sinner By Brenda Drake

I am very thankful we did not need to clean up before we could accept Jesus as our Savior; but we did need to admit we were unclean and unable to save our self.  I can easily relate to the woman that knelt at the foot Jesus to adore the One that made her aware of a holy love she did not deserve.

He Loved the Sinner

He died for even those who spat and slapped His face.
He chose to wrap them in mercy and grace.
He died for the one that His name denied,
And in His mercy another name supplied.|
He died for the sinners on both sides of His cross.
One accepted His gift the other remained lost.
He died for harlots that cry on the streets.
He died for the one that chose to lie at His feet.
He died for those that push wisdom out the door;
But then later choose again to follow the Lord.
From the beginning of time and man’s introduction to sin,
The God of Heaven made provision for them.
But there are some that refuse to see,
They harden their heart to not believe.
But the truth is still the truth; for every man Jesus died.
He is and was and ever will be their supply.
But still there are those that would spit on and slap God’s face.
There are still those that reject His mercy and grace.
Still  some choose evil over the way good and right.
Many still choose darkness over light.
But there is no hatred in God’s heart for them.
He loves the sinner but He will always hate sin.

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
