The Safe Place By Brenda Drake

I seldom felt secure as a child.  And I never felt sheltered as a young adult.  I almost always feel protected as a Christ follower.  Now, in troubled times I remember; who dwells in me and watches over me.  Jesus is my protector, Savior and closest friend.  I run to Him like baby chicks run to safety under their mother’s wing.

The Safe Place

There is a place,
Where we are completely safe.
In the world you may ask,
Is there really a place we can embrace without lack?
Safe from the death sentence that destroys heart, body and soul?
Safe from evil that desires take control?
Safe from a life forever tainted and stained?
Safe from terrible burden’s heavy chains?
Is there a safe place where the angels sing?
Where there waits the loving care of a loving King?
Where the sun shines and there are no lines on the face?
Where every sin and shame has been erased?
Yes it is real and true.
There is a safe place ahead for you.
In this place the air is clean with not a threat in sight.
In this place there is no darkness only light.
Safe from the sin and heartache in the earthly atmosphere.
In the care of Jesus your safe place is also here.
As you come and go remember the safe place is in Christ.
He is the safety you can claim for your life.

Psalms 15:8-9
I have set the Lord always before me:
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth:
my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good
work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Who Do You Say I Am? By Brenda Drake

Luke 9:20
“But you,” He asked them, “who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah!”

I quake with a fear that is hard to explain when I think of the years I had no real idea who Jesus is.  I perhaps felt He was someone of great importance, but the magnitude of His being was unknown to me.  But even though I now know Jesus is Messiah, I am very sure the magnitude of His revelation still lies ahead.

Who Do You Say I Am?

There are many theories of who I am.
Some call me the Son of God; some say I was just a man.
Some say I was a peacemaker and others say,
I cause division and they turn away.
Some call me Jesus, some Emmanuel,
Some call me friend they know me so well.
Some inquire daily, who am I in their life?
Some seek to know all the names of Christ.
I have been labeled Beelzebub, and called a fraud,
But who am I to you?  Am I your God?
I am the Alpha and Omega; beginning and the end.
I am the Savior who soon comes again
I am the Bridegroom, I am the increase, I am Bread
I am New Wine; the Living Water, I am the Church head.
I am Light, the narrow path; the only Way.
I am the Word of God that has been conveyed.
I am the Son of David, I am the vine.
I am love, I am Truth, I am the treasure the seeking soul finds.
I am Lily of the Valley, the Rose, and the Son of man.
But what I want to identify is who do you say I am?

Prayer
You are my Lord, my Savior, and my best friend. You are the reason I live, You are the air I breathe;
You are King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

The Comforter By Brenda Drake

There is certain reverence deep within at the thought of a love as tender and as respectful as when Holy Spirit touches a life.  There is nothing as beautiful, or more enlightening or as satisfying.  One day we will have knowledge of the full picture of all the Holy Comforter has done to build and to enrich our lives.

The Comforter

There is One that dwells near that you cannot see
He is the One that dries the tears for those set free.
He walks where Angels cannot tread;
He hears every word ever said.
This One is always kind and gentle to the aching heart.
He is the One that kindles loves fires to start.
He builds up and makes strong the damaged or weak.
He gives comfort to the soul that seeks.
This One comes at the whispered prayer;
And He truly cares.
His healing touch raises the dead.
He nourishes the starving underfed.
The Comforter is sent to you as a gift from above;
To prove and to show the Father’s love.
He speaks of Salvation and He lifts up Jesus’ name.
When Holy Spirit enters; a life is never again the same.
Sweet words of wisdom fill the mouth with praise;
Great is the thanks of a soul that has been saved.
For they are greatly assured of the work of the cross,
So great is the peace – no longer are they lost.
The Light of the Universe lives within,
For the Comforter has made residence in him.
You too are able to reach and give comfort to another lost soul.
God’s love from within now overflows.
The Comforter even now gives this word of rhyme to touch the ear
With some more comforting words for you to hear

John 14:6
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Romans 15:13
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Revelations 2:29
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

No Downsizing in God’s Kingdom by Brenda Drake

This is one of the poems in my book Waves of Comfort by Brenda Drake

Once in a vision, the Lord showed me a little car that drove only a few miles, stopped, and put in just a few cents worth of gas.  It continued a little further and did the same.  It kept doing this – its progress was very slow.  I asked what did this mean.  He said that this was how many of His children asked for blessings.  They will only accept a few at a time. Some do not feel they deserve to receive, or are afraid to ask too much because of the many people that have greater needs.  God does not have lack.  He is not worried that we will use up His supply.

No Downsizing in God’s Kingdom

Downsizing, cutting back, you have heard of this before.
In the world it is very common, but not in the Kingdom of the Lord.
Usually it is because of cost in the market place
The price becomes so high, that production cost must be faced.
In God’s Kingdom all is provided for.
All that is needed is paid for by Jesus Christ, the Lord.
He gave of His precious life’s blood
To completely buy back the lost, to make new and good.
He does not cut back and eliminate the cost.
He lifts up and abundantly gives to the redeemed, by way of the cross.
He gives sight to the blind man and opens the deaf ears.
He fills up hearts with joy, and wipes away the tears.
He gives extra benefits; and keeps the lines open day and night.
He keeps an army of Angels on duty to put the enemy to flight.
He fills up the storehouse with treasures left untold.
He even paves Heaven’s streets with purest gold.
He does not worry that the economy may fall or inflate.
He never worries; He never rushes; nor is He too late.
He has no limit or quota nor will He run low and need to wait.
In fact, God’s Kingdom grows more and more each day,
While the world grows weaker in its downsizing ways.

3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Flowers From a Hopeful Heart By Brenda Drake

I love flowers.  I am not a gardener.  My love of flowers does not come from my efforts.  God is the gardener of our soul.  He is the beauty that flowers from within us.  Oh how sweet is the love of God, He deserves all the praise and glory.

Flowers from a Hopeful Heart

Like the sweet aroma of a willing rose,
Is the praise of a heart that God’s Word knows.
Hopeful hearts see the sun shine ahead on a rainy day.
Though cloudy on the outside they are warmed by inner rays.
Another flower that comes from the heart of hope,
Is the sure knowledge God is in control.
The sweet assurance of His love and care,
Is another flower of hope with another to share.
Flowers from a hopeful heart walk at a steady pace,
Under the sure covering of God’s mercy and grace.
They live in His anointing and of His nourishment partakes.
Lights in the dark world all the difference makes.
An encouraging word, a loving timely rebuke,
A helping hand in time of need; are all flowers delivered too.
There is sweet aroma of a life whose hope is in God above.
They bloom in the land; seeds planted in the garden of love.

Ephesians 5:1-2
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Heart of a Hero By Brenda Drake

We to impress others can put on an outward show of goodness, but God sees our inner man and knows our every motive. It is much better to emulate Jesus the One that is truly good. With His help we become His ambassadors in a dark world; able to show the way to the cross that rescues the lost by the Father’s provision of salvation.

The Heart of a Hero

The heart of a hero to the outward eye,
Looks the same as the cowards on the outside.
It’s the inner place where only God can see;
The hero’s heart looks like it has been touched by divinity.
Who are God’s heroes? They may surprise you when shown.
They may seem a little strange and stand alone.
Heroes in God’s kingdom look different than what the world proclaims.
They by the world’s standards are called different names.
True heroes are those that do what is right.
Without thought they are a light.
God’s hero is steadfast in faith.
They are the ones that are on call to in an instant pray.
They are the ones that turn the cheek and refuse to fight;
Unless it is to stand up tall for what is good and right.
A hero in God’s kingdom may be portrayed as humble or weak;
But it is strength and truth heard when they speak.
The heart of the hero beats to the tune of Christ.
They are His workmanship and the bride of His delight.

Matthew 5:3-11
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter
all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

Pay Backs By Brenda Drake

Very little of the world’s ways are of value to keep as we follow in the footsteps of Christ.  It is challenging but with God’s strength, the Word in hand and with Jesus’ name on our lips in prayer, we are able to handle the many difficult situations we find in our everyday life. God is in control, have faith.

Pay Backs

Pay backs are thought of a threat sometimes,
Retribution of sorts for getting out of line.
The world ways encourage such things,
But in the end it does not solve anything.
It is not your job to pay back for wrongs done.
Leave it up to God and lasting profit comes.
God says to turn the other cheek and love your enemy.
He says to kind and respectful be.
His payback comes when you reap what you sow.
What you have planted is what grows.
Your prayers in behalf of those that offend,
Comes back as a blessing to you within.
Allow the Holy Spirit to your battle fight.
Nothing passes by His sight.
Love God with all your heart, mind, and soul.
When you do He is allowed full control.
His pay backs are beauty for ashes, and peace and joy untold.
His pay backs are precious things your hearts can hold.
He is the Author and Finisher of your faith.
He lavishes love upon you so from evil pay backs you are safe

Deuteronomy 3:22.
Ye shall not fear them: for the Lord your God he shall fight for you.

Set Your Mind to Victory By Brenda Drake

There are times I am victorious even when I do not feel victorious; perhaps the answer to my prayer does not happen the way I want but the problem is solved in a whole different way.  Jesus is in control.  We are victorious when we trust He is working things out the way best.  Our mind is victorious when we keep it on Jesus and not on our problem. He is the One that fights all our battles, and He is our strength within.

Set Your Mind to Victory

Set your mind to victory in whatever you face.
Victory comes when God’s Word is embraced.
It may look a bit different when the time comes,
But it unmistakably is a victorious answer done.
Victory has endurance in its grasp.
Victory looks ahead in faith and refuses to look back.
Victory is not always carrying a prize at the end,
But victory is a banner that is carried within.
Jesus is the strength that girds you up strong.
Jesus is the reason and the tune of your love song.
He is the goal to reach and the prize at the end.
You are victorious if you completely rely on Him.
Set your mind to victory; allow God’s promise to reign supreme.
All is well when victory reigns in your being.
God is stronger than any enemy you may behold.
He hears your prayers and draws into His fold.
Your heart is readied and steadied sure and true.
Not only is your mind set to win the winner lives in you.
Set your trust in the hands of the One you adore.
Remember victory belongs to the Lord.

1John 5:4
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

I Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Move On By Brenda Drake

In our troubled world, with it contrary winds that blow against what we want, desire and believe as true we may become discouraged with our life and become weary in our well-doing.  We get side-tracked and lose sight of our kingdom-goals and purposes. We need to do three things; get back into the presence of our Lord and the Bible; then with His strength and new purpose move to get up
and carry on.

Move On

When you have rested awhile in the presence of the Son,
And He has restored your inner smile in light of all He has done.
Then it is time to pick up your bed
To move on to the place the Spirit paves ahead.
When you have been freed from the heavy burden on your back,
And the light shines bright upon your path.
It’s time to walk on with purpose to your step.
Move on to the opened door; God is not finished with you yet.
Move on with confidence I lead the way.
Move on with assurance God plans your every day.
When the clouds cover the land with its discouraging sounds,
Rejoice in the knowledge you walk on Holy ground.
Angels watch over you and gives strength when you are weak.
They give muscle to the words you for God’s kingdom speaks.
You are ready and willing and God makes you able to do,
All He has ordained; all you need to do is move.

Proverbs 16:3
Commit your work to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Philippians 4:10
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
