Help Hurting People By Brenda Drake

   I was a master at hiding my feelings.  Very few knew of my inner troubles and inner pain. I will be forever grateful for the prayers of God’s people that helped me learn to be honest with myself and with others.  I learned with God’s help how to forgive.  I am healed so now I am able to pray and reach out to help another.

Helping Hurting People

When a tender spot is touched in protest you draw back;
There is no doubt to others it hurts in fact,
They can easily see it registered by your expression.
They hardly need your words confessions,
But, some of the worst pains affecting lives,
Are buried deep down inside.
You may smile, pretending nothing hurts at all,
When wounded refusing to allow your face to fall.
You will struggle onward, the world as a whole unaware,
For very few people take time or are capable to really care.
Many are also wounded and also pretend,
That everything is just fine with them.
If everyone consider another’s hurt and needs
They would cause less pain indeed.
It is God’s plan for His children to help one another.
It is His plan to reach through you to your brother.
It is His plan for you to love your neighbor and also your enemy.
It is His plan for you to forgive those that have a sore spot touched,
Because He died so all could be healed set free to administer His love.
Remember this word given to thee.
Many about you are hurting; by prayer set them free.

1 Corinthians 1:3-4
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;  Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Gone Fishing By Brenda Drake

 One day I heard the Lord ask me if I wanted to go fishing?  God knows I am not an outdoorsy girl so I know He meant fishing for souls.  The person that was heavy on my heart He showed me was a big fish I would one day catch.  This was a great comfort for my soul.  He still is out there but I believe he one day will be caught. Now I pray with confidence for him to be saved.

Gone Fishing

Many have gone fishing though they do not call it this.
They are casting out in the world’s sea for certain kind of fish.
Some seek to land a good job, or perhaps success is their game.
Some search for wealth and some for fame.
Certain individuals fish for complements as self is displayed.
Some are fishing for trouble each and every day.
Some seek excitement and toy with dangerous friends.
They cast their line and will be sorry the mess they find they are in.
There are fishers of lust and perversion, lies and deceit.
Where are the fishers that will fish the lost in life’s streams?
There is need for workers to follow after Christ,
To be fishers of men; they dedicate their life.
Come follow the example Jesus gave to thee,
Die to self-ambitions and follow after me.
I give you all things profitable to the soul.
You will be well fed, clean, sound, and whole.
Purpose in yourself to be as a sign for the world to behold;
A sign that says Gone Fishing in letters bright and bold.
A life that shouts, I am a fisherman in God’s employ,
My task is a pleasure and brings great joy.
It is time to go fishing; invite a friend to join you in your toil,
You will have a good catch that never spoils.

Matthew 14:19
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Celebrate By Brenda Drake

     Happy Resurrection Day! It indeed is a day to celebrate!  To many it is a day for Easter egg hunts, chocolate bunnies, and family gatherings… it all is good.  But to celebrate the empty tomb, and Jesus’ great victory over death it is great.  To be able to thank Jesus for His personal victory over our sin debt is greater than words can express.

Celebrate

Great -day! Wondrous revelations understood,
He is risen, He that died on the piece of wood.
The tomb is empty; it holds just the rags that bound.
No other evidence within is found
Sweet joy floods the heart when this miracle is comprehended;
The truth, the battle fought has ended
Taste your victory; your triumph over sin and shame
All accomplished by Jesus name
He has risen! He has risen! Let your voice sing loud and clear,
Loud enough; so that the world, can its message hear.
Clap your hands and dance, rejoice that you can see,
All that your Lord has done for thee.
Let the joy and peace of God flood your soul.
Allow His love to enter and to within you overflow.

Psalms  9:2
I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.

John 16:22
And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

Loved by Every Drop of Blood By Brenda Drake

When I think of all Jesus endured in the days before and on the cross to pay for the debt of my sin there are no words to describe my gratitude, for such an unspeakable gift of grace.  The love of God for His creation is more than we can fully comprehend.

Loved by Every Drop of Blood

We were loved by every drop of blood shed upon the tree.
Loved by the Holy Sacrifice offered to set captives free.
Loved by every heartfelt pain
Jesus endured to break our every chain.
Every stripe upon His back; opened wide and raw,
Was to heal every lash, caused by evil since the fall.
The heavy weight of the curse of death was felt by God’s Son.
Every sin’s penalty was paid when His work was done.
In agony He felt the final separation.
His very essence of life was given to free the Nations,
“My God, why have you forsaken me,” in His last breaths
“Father forgive them” He cried, “It is finished”
Evil celebrated for they killed God’s Son,
But, for them it was not finished; God was not done.
His weeping followers would weep no more.
With great joy they were astonished at the sight of their risen Lord.
Jesus is alive, and is seated at the Father’s side,
Soon to return, for His blood-washed, without spot or wrinkle bride.
We were loved by every drop of His precious blood that flowed,
So, He that formed all we see, could our life forever hold.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Under the Blood By Brenda Drake

I saw an illustration of the importance of the sacrifice of Jesus in our behalf that made it clear my great need for a Savior.  God the Father hates sin, and the penalty of sin is death.  When Jesus died and rose up from the grave He conquered the threat of death and its eternal promise of separation from our Creator. Jesus paid our sin-debt so we could live forever with them (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).  When our heavenly Father looks at us under the covering of the blood of Jesus He sees Jesus not our sin. Under the blood we are One with God.

Under the Blood

Life under the blood of Christ,
Not only protects it promises new life.
New life has a fresh start;
The seed of rebirth enters the heart.
Just like a new baby born needs extra care;
Nourished with good food, love and prayer;
The loving Father in heaven carefully,
Watches our growth-progress and sees.
That each step takes to the place,
Destined by the One that has shown such grace.
Life under the blood of Christ,
When nourished by the Word that feeds you right.
The Holy Spirit, Comforter of heart, mind and soul,
Leads to safety, and helps to strong and healthy grow.
Multitudes of angels are close at hand,
To assist as the Father so commands.
Life under the blood covering of Christ is blessed,
Assurance, faith, and trust plans and expects for your best.
New strength is supplied in each day’s gift sent.
All that is needed is to praise, pray and sins repent.
Faith flows free in worship under loves flow,
Life new prospers forever when God is in control.

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 3:24-25
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Life is in the Blood By Brenda Drake

In crime stories it shows how people try to wash away the evidence of a murder but under certain light it is clearly revealed.  Jesus shed His blood to pay for our sin. It makes me feel very secure knowing God the Father sees us under the Holy blood of Jesus. There is power and new life in the blood of Jesus.

Life is in the Blood

Life is in the blood. Its mark over the door protects,
Its assurance assured life over death.
Life is in the blood; its cry is heard and seen clear.
Trust under the blood fear disappears.
Life is in the blood; under Jesus’ sacrifice placed,
Is promised new life provided by grace.
Christ’ blood covering is holy; all who believe,
Its life-saving strength receives.
Greater is the truth of blood than many understand.
The blood of the innocent soaks up the land.
It cries out to heaven for justice to come.
It too sounds loud in the ears of the Holy One.
God in His mercy sent Jesus to set free.
His sacrifice suffered greatly to rescue from death’s penalty.
Life is in the blood; come under its holy cover.
You will its eternal saving strength discover.

Exodus 12:13
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

Hebrews 9:14-15
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?  And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

With Heart in Hand By Brenda Drake

All we really have to offer is our life.  Our offering is our reasonable service.  Our Lord has given us His life by His sacrifice in our behalf.  Sometimes with heart in hand we make our offering in our prayer of dedication again and again.

With Heart in Hand

With heart in hand I set my face;
As I seek to rest in God’s embrace.
The world’s turmoil and upsetting ways;
Cannot steal away my words of praise.
All faults and failures are laid down at His feet to stay.
His robe of righteousness is upon me placed,
With heart in hand I give my life to Him,
To form, to shape, and to mend.
He is my heart’s desire,
He sets it on holy fire.
He reads every inscription written inside.
He is the holy resident who within abides.
I will continue on this journey of the heart;
With Him at each days end and at each days start.
Every moment has its heart-beat and when my journey ends,
I will have arrived into His presence to a new journey begin.
With heart in hand again I say, Lord here I am
Help my life to fit perfectly into Your master plan.

Romans12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Double Duty By Brenda Drake

I am amazed at the wisdom of God and the wonder of His ways.  Our prayer for assistance, alongside our thanks and praise for God’s answer is counted as faith.

Double Duty

When prayer asks and declares at the same time,
It is doing double duty as God designs.
Humility bows low as it confidently reaches for God’s hand.
Humbleness is strong as on God’s Word it stands.
Thanks and praise in double duty move,
With grateful hearts they in union lift up in God’s name too.
Faith and hope are a team that few understand,
When practiced you become stronger along with your fellow man.
Joy and peace also are a team too,
They are gifts of love bestowed on you.
They are on double duty just as the rest.
Your spirit and other around you find benefit.
You are learning to walk and talk like Christ;
Living victorious in sacrifice.
Even in trouble and trial you will find,
They are doing double duty time.
Trouble and trials are because of a world of sin.
They are always present although they are not called friend.
When in their grasp in faith come,
They too must bow at the name of Gods Son.
Ask for assistance and declare them gone at the same time.
Prayers are on double duty because you are loved and you are mine.

John 14:13
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Psalms 40:8
I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart;
I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation:

Come Soar With Me By Brenda Drake

We get so busy in our everyday life almost before we realize it we are piled high with the many things that cause heaviness within.   Jesus is always available to lift our load as we lift up our prayer requests. This poem invites us to share every concern with Him. He promises to not only listen to us but to answer with His assurance, comfort, and joy.

Come Soar with Me

Soar with me over obstacles in the way.
You are lifted over them when you pray.
The dream that illusively seems out of reach,
The answer to the question you refuse to speak,
The doubt and even the fears,
That clouds thoughts with unshed tears;
Come let us examine these things.
Bring them one by one to Christ the King.
Your vision inspired by God above;
Are delivered on His wings of love.
The accusations that taunt sure failure within,
Bring them too; they are answered by Him.
With God on your side and with His rule within,
Is there a chance of failure my friend?
With joy, peace and salvations sure hold,
How is it possible you do not walk on streets of gold?
How could the bride of heaven with garments pure in Christ,
Not be comforted by the joy of God’s presence in their life.
Soar with the lover of your heart and soul;
Rest confident in His sure hold.

Psalms 27:5
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:
in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;
he shall set me up upon a rock.

Get Me Back on Track By Brenda Drake

      These are troubling times. There seems to be a great confusion of what is right and what is wrong. Our core values and convictions have been challenged and at times the world’s influences cause us to stray from what we know is right and to almost wink at what we know as sin.  This is when we need to reevaluate our lives.  Perhaps we as a Country are in the position of rethinking and cementing within to agree with God and not the message of the world system.

His way…Ps 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Get Me Back on Track

I present my words and actions to God above
My offered life proves my love.
Lord I need to wise to see,
Where it is I need to be.
When I have been distracted or followed my own path.
I need help to get back on track.
Show me when it is better not to insist I am right;
And when to know when I need to stand up and fight.
Teach me when to pull away from unwanted and unneeded stress,
And to know when to confront an issue is best.
Jesus, you see my heart cry to clear direction know,
I trust it all to You; I know You are in control.
I love you Jesus and I choose to love my brother too.
Jesus, help us to truly love one another as we follow after You.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Proverbs 2:6
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
