In the land of Judah, a child was born. From the start it was evident it was not the norm. For His Father was God and His mother was Mary. A virgin would in her body the Son of God would carry. His Holy birth- though humbly in a stable He lay; Was heralded by Angels and a star’s light showed the way. The most astounding thing, was the new baby that Mary would hold, Was the answer to every need of every living soul. He that was rich and strong became weak and poor. He that needed to grow was Son of God and Lord of Lords. He lived to carry out the Father’s plan. He lived to die to save fallen man. He suffered many stripes and He died on the cross of shame, To give freedom to all that would believe on His name. He died to live again so all that would believe, Could His resurrected life inside them receive. The very best thing any man will get, Is Jesus for He is God’s greatest gift.
2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
The world is full of information, some false and some true. It can become tiresome and confusing to say the least. But one thing I know, God has the final word. Jesus is the Word. The Word of God tells us and shows us the power of prayer. There is great authority when we pray for God’s will be done, in Jesus’ name.
Defeated by Prayer
A fist full of reasons why something should or should not be done, Are all made as nothing by one word from God’s Son. Lazarus was buried; wrapped up tight to stay. But when Jesus spoke he had to obey. The stench of death was faced, However by a word from God it was erased. The mourners were wailing; his death was declared, But they were stilled, proved wrong by one word of prayer. The unbelievers were many but that did not mean a thing; Nothing stops the will of Christ Jesus the King. The fist full of facts did not stop God’s plan. No one that was present that day could fully understand, But the hearts that were touched were many that day. As death’s cold hand was pushed away. It was not time for the departure of the brother of Martha and Mary. It was turned about; they could not yet Lazarus bury. Just so are those that falsely declare The death of a Nation; these too are defeated by prayer.
Mathew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Isaiah 35:4-5 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Many have stated that in the difficulties of this year, with all the turmoil and uncertainties they have little or no Christmas spirit. But I think God is more glorified by the small but significant things that we do in remembrance of His birth, life, death, and resurrection than in the superficial gifts we pass out to others. There are times our simple loving gestures are greater gifts than things of monetary value.
Celebrate in Ways Right
Even though money may be tight, Celebrate Christ’s Birth the way that is right. You can to Church go, To rededicate or offer God your heart and soul. You can celebrate Christ’s birth and make, Jesus, on this day a birthday cake. You can diligently look for, Someone to bless in the name of the Lord. Make some candy or cookies to give to neighbors and friends; To demonstrate some Christmas-cheer to them. Share the story of Jesus once again to old and young, Take out the board games to have some fun. Instead of thinking of all you wish you were able to do, Count the many blessings God bestows upon you. Open your eyes to see the sparkle in another’s eye, Purpose your heart and lips to praise the Lord on high. Resolve your feet to walk the straight narrow way, To demonstrate to love ones how “to on the right path stay.” Reach out your arms to gather close the ones you love; Then your Christmas holiday will honor God above.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
It is easy to get caught up with the pressures of Christmas-time when finances are strained and the world seems to be upside down in almost every way. But I think we truly honor Jesus when we remember He is the reason for the season. He is honored I believe when we love Him enough to trust and believe for His best as we give our best to help another. Gifts are fine but I think greater is love along with respect. Let us honor God by demonstrating hope and faith in His sure help, provisions and intervention in the days ahead.
Gifts Wrapped in Love
Upon a piece of paper write a name; Pray every day for them and they will never be the same. Keep eyes open to observe those around you; Listen to conversations that surround you. With the right hand hidden let the left bless another, Allow God’s love to reach through you to sister or brother. When no one is watching make your prayer requests, Dance like David danced in God’s glory dressed. Pile problems at the alter willing to set them free, With a life love-filled; you are free indeed. Take a vacation in the Spirit…bask in the favor of the Lord. It will be the most rewarding vacation, you can afford. Take a deep breath of hope and fill up with faith. Believe the Word of God and for His promises patiently wait. But, to successfully do this, You need to take care to no opportunity miss. Look about to do good…. take each step with care; You gift God when with another you share. Each day is one day closer to the One you adore. One step closer to fully being made one with the Lord. Christmas is celebrated with gifts under the tree. The very best gifts are wrapped in love others will recieve. Jesus, the gift sent from heaven to set free from sin’s grasp; Upon the rugged tree His whole heart was wrapped. A gift from the Father to the world below; Such a loving gift is more than we could ever fully know.
Hebrews 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
When you give and receive gifts celebrating the birth of Christ, remember, salvation is God’s greatest gift you will ever receive and the Good News is the best gift you can offer to another. We cannot earn redemption, it was offered free. Jesus must get all the glory, for He did all the work. When we strive in our effort to be good enough, we are working to earn it and are trying to save ourselves. It is amazing to me that many refuse such a wonderful gift.
Gifts Accepted
What would you think if someone received your gift, And then attempted to pay for it? You would think it silly and a waste, If they insist, to the giver they cause disgrace. God by Jesus’ sacrifice has offered you many things; Countless gifts of promise He brings. The greatest promise is salvation for the soul. Because of what Jesus did you are whole. It is done, it is finished; you need only to believe. Salvation is sure when it is received. To give thanks and praise is all you need to do. So great is this gift bestowed on you. You cannot repay the Master for Salvation. You cannot earn what He has done. His love extended to die in your place. Great is the gift of grace. Under grace’s cover there are more gifts bestowed; They are of much more valuable than silver or gold. Gifts of guidance, provision, and care, Gifts of His peace and joy are also with you shared. The gift of accountability as He takes control, Gifts of knowledge are shared to enrich and make you whole. To worry or fear at what lie ahead, is to try to a gift pay. For it states God is unable to do as He says. Accept His gifts, rest in His love and care for thee, Then you are walking in the gift of life with the spirit free.
Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Prayer Forgive me when I worry, I know You are able to lead and guide my path. Thank You for Your wonderful, generous gifts of love and provision. I will forever be grateful for the wonderful gift of Salvation!
Christmas gifts are great fun. I remember a time I was delivered a very large package but as I opened it up, inside was a smaller package, inside that was another and another, until it was a very small but greatly desired gift I did not really need. Jesus the Creator of the Universe came wrapped in a tiny babe born to a virgin and lay in a straw lined manger. He was a most needed gift that now is my greatest desire.
Big Things Come in Small Packages
Big things come in small packages – it is true I will give some examples to you. Great commitment is represented; most agree, By the tiny box, that accompanies the one upon his knee. All heaven and earth testifies Even the smallest truth will never be denied. Take the example, of a tiny seed; Within its little package lives the start of a tree. An encouraging, spoken word, may become A huge directional – change for someone. Many packages are placed under Christmas trees, They are expressions of love, and kindness to be received. But, the Greatest Gift ever bestowed is Jesus Christ. Upon a rugged tree your largest gift was sacrificed. In the little town of Bethlehem, a child was to a virgin born. In this tiny, little bundle the Creator was formed. He that made the earth and all off a far too, Was in this little package; delivered from the Father, to you. Remember Him in your giving, as you celebrate the birth of God’s Son By planting small, seeds of faith in the hearts of both old and young. Big is the God of all that is and is to be, But, He dwells within all that are His, for all eternity.
2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
There are many at Christmastime that do not wish for things large or expensive but are hoping for and will be very thankful for a needed item such as a pair of shoes. The greatest gift I ever received was salvation. It never gets old. It is the gift I desire to share with everyone I meet. Jesus is the gift the Father bestowed upon a sin-sick world. We will spend eternity singing praise for a gift such as this.
Christmas Shoes
Christmas shoes were delivered to the door, With Santa’s name attached, but they were from the Lord. They are not fancy or flimsily made in fact; They are sturdily made to last. They fit perfectly…oh how he now runs. His heart is full, he feels free to join in on the fun. This was a Christmas gift needed, not a toy to be thrown aside; To yet another story bring alive.
The babe in the manger grew to be delivered to your heart’s door. With the gift of salvation presented from the Lord. It also was needed; not flimsy or to be thrown aside. In His strength you are able to run free and alive. If you have the sweet assurance that your feet are shod, With the holy gospel-truth the provision of God, Rejoice and give thanks for the gift of God’s Son. If not, prepare yourself to receive your running shoes to come.
Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Christmastime is a special time of year. I pray that even in our trying times we will be touched by the Christmas Spirit. Most have precious memories of Christmas past, but many truly have forgotten the real reason we celebrate. Jesus was our most precious gift delivered to save us from the penalty of our sins… It is good to celebrate His birth even if it is now only represented by a tiny little tree.
The Tiny Little Tree
Once was the days of youth, when you searched for the tree; Trekking through the snow with vigor and glee; Laughing at each other’s choices, Until “The one” chosen was proclaimed in jubilant voices. Out came the treasured ornaments from the past and some new, A pretty angel or the star was placed on top too. The dry fallen needles embedded in the cracks in the floor, Were gladly endured to celebrate the birth of the Lord. In later years came the tree that did not grow, One that needed to be formed by a color code. Beautiful still and still caused much pleasure; Holding all you newest and oldest homemade treasures. And now much later perhaps in your life, The tree has shrunk down in your sight. A tiny little tree that on a table sits; But still your love and respect for Jesus represents. With my tiny little tree, my heart memories abound; As I reminiscence tramping in snowy ground. And marvel at the change that has taken place within, As I celebrate Christ’s birth watching palms blowing in the wind.
Luke 2:17-20 After seeing them, they reported the message they were told about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary was treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had seen and heard, just as they had been told.
I remember most always as a child a star was placed above our Christmas tree. A few times I have positioned an angel there but somehow I prefer the star. When Jesus was born the Wise-men saw His star in the night sky and followed it to worship the Light of the World. The Creator of the stars became the world’s greatest citizen; and in my mind He is the Star of Creation.
The Star of Creation
The star’s appearance caused great joy, In the manger was born a baby boy. The son of a carpenter He was trained, The mystery of His conception within remained. His purpose of appearing upon the mind; Caused Mary to ponder many times. The appearance of a star upon the tree, Can a holy reminder be. The Light of the world hung on a tree too. He that is Light, Love and Life died for me and you. When the tomb was closed up tight, Evil believed they snuffed out the Light. But He is alive! The tomb is empty and bare. No matter how long you search He is not there. Now the risen Savior says “Come, When you believe, His life and yours is made as one.” His joy is a gift presented at each days start, The Star of Heaven rules within your heart. Joyfully celebrate the birth of Christ And rejoice that He is risen in your life. There is much to look forward too for you see, The Star of all creation soon returns for thee.
Matthew 2:1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived unexpectedly in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
One holiday season when money was scarce, it ended being one of our best Christmas memories. We spent quality time with those we loved; our homemade gifts were heartfelt love-offerings for one another. I spent extra time making cookies and candies for our family, friends and neighbors with no thought of receiving a gift in return.
The Precious Gift of Time
Sometimes all you have to give is just your time. It is a precious gift and is hard to find. Time is money they say; So it is not easily given away. The gift of prayer lifted some do not see. But its benefit is gratefully received. Time spent loving the neighbor next door, Is a gift to them and also to the Lord. Time’s gift is bestowed on you too. It is a precious gift God shares with you. When you offer your life to Christ, It is a gift that causes the Father delight. In the gift-giving season as you celebrate the birth of God’s Son, Remember to spend some quality time with your loved ones. Whenever you have opportunity, take time to pray; For leaders, for Country and those sad, to have a good day. Sometimes all you have to give is your time. But it is the best gift for it is preciously hard to find.
Ephesians 5:15-17 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
