The Light Was Extinguished By Brenda Drake

The Light Was Extinguished

The Light was extinguished; blown out by sin.
It was a terrible darkness that covered Him.
The One pure and as white as new fallen snow,
Was blackened by the sin-blight of every mortal soul.
His heart was broken, crushed by the pain.
The Holy love of the Father could not with Him remain.
Love called out “Forgive them they know not what they do.”
His love committed Himself to die for me and you.
What a dedicated love that chose to die for the lost;
That in such suffering, endured the terrible defilement of the cross.
But on the third day there was Light;
Jesus lives again to His disciples delight.
He that so loved… loves us still.
He that died for our sins has His Father’s will fulfilled.
The sinful, darkened, believing heart is made new and whole;
Full of light and love is the redeemed soul.
He lives! He is alive! They gladly testify.
Because He lives He brings His light inside.
Because He lives the believer is new and whole;
With sweet songs of joy, the Easter message is retold!

John 9:5
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Hidden Truth By Brenda Drake

cross-1 donkey

            I recently saw a truth.  It hit me hard.  The donkey has a natural cross on its back; And it carried Jesus to the place where He would carry the cross to die for our sins.  So many truths are hidden from our sight. Are you happy our hearts are now able to hold the Savior the real Truth in our hearts?

Hidden Truth

When the donkey carried Jesus the cheering crowd believed He was to be crowned King.
They threw down their cloaks as children would dance and sing.
The donkey the Master rode sported a cross on his back.
Jesus willingly placed Himself there; there was no turning back.
The people thought He was entering to cause profit for a better life.
They missed the timing; the truth was hidden from their sight.
Shortly after, Jesus carried the cross; beaten ragged and sore.
Many of the same crowd was now crying “Crucify” to the Lord.
He was traveling to Golgotha to truly set them free.
Again the truth they did not see.
He was pinned up on the cross  to die,
Between two thieves the Son of God was crucified.
The earth quaked, devils danced, and the heavens wept,
Still the people were blind and lost in confusion’s midst.
But into deaths door light enter in.
God paid the price for new life to begin.
Death could not hold Him; He is light, and the way.
He is alive!  He is the light that shines truth to those who believe to this day.

Romans 6:6-7
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.  For he that is dead is freed from sin

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

How Far Could He See By Brenda Drake

jesus-on-the-cross.jpg

How Far Could He See?

He was sorely beaten, upon His head a crown of thorns roughly placed;
Great nails pierced His flesh and the beard was torn from His face.
Placed on a rugged cross with a sign clearly to be seen,
By a sea of faces; crying, mocking, evil, and mean.
Lifted up with two thieves…one on each side,
As a mass of people waited for them to die.
From the cross; upon His back every sin of every man was known.
The perfect Son of God called each sin His own.
How far could He see, is the question asked?
He saw right now right where we are at.
He saw far into the future and as far back as sin’s start.
He accepted the penalty of our every sin so He could reign again in our heart.
Every sin, every shame, and all inability;
He saw and paid for at Calvary.
Great is the day when our opened eyes can fully know,
He rose alive on the third day so His life through us will overflow.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Paid in Full By Brenda Drake

PaidInFullCross.lg (1)

Paid in Full

Prepaid, paid in full, already the account is clear.
Nothing held against you, there is no debt to fear.
Wasted are the works of man, as he strives to pay the price.
For there is only one acceptable sacrifice.
Every sin-debt is paid, every one that ever was, and is to be.
The account has been completely wiped clean.
But every person must choose to accept help from God’s hand,
Or be prepared to pay their-own debt upon demand.
The most important thing, that everyone needs to see,
All effort to save oneself are as filthy rags- as worthless as can be.
Behold the cross and its toil done in your name
Believe on the sacrifice of Jesus, and no debt remains.

Isaiah 44:22
I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

Romans 4:7-8
Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Expectancy is Another Word for Faith by Brenda Drake

faith1754689

            I used to expect trouble, kind of like Murphy’s Law.  I expected to fail, and I did.  I have since learned to hope for what God’s Word says.  I expect the God that loved me so much He died for my sins finishes the work He started in me.  I no longer live anticipating bad news; I am living the Good News watching for God’s provision for our souls.

Expectancy is Another Word for Faith

My hope for the future is colored bright.
I expect wrongs will be changed to right.
In every difficult step I take
I expect new strength in renewed faith.
Hope and expectation holds unto faith’s hand.
They are the three united to accomplish God’s plan.
We hope for a child, we in faith expect,
A beautiful God-given gift.
Love gives what we have faith to receive.
God is love and He gave all we can hope for to set us free.
When I get down in the dumps and hope and expectancy is low
My faith in God’s love lifts me up and will not let me go.
Then hope is renewed like a fresh rain on parched ground,
And expectancy for God’s favor again is found.
Faith looks up and will not look back
God’s love again has pulled the three united back on track.

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

A Poem a Day

An apple a day keeps the doctor away;
You have heard before.
I believe a poem a day keeps the devil at bay,
As you concentrate on the Lord.
An apple has its benefits it is true,
But words that agree with God’s Word are even better for you.
Are you feeling down? Do you think no one cares?
Come and digest some words that assures God is always there.
Holy Scripture is packed with healthy things to eat;
To provide inner joy and emotional and spiritual strength.
When you are hungry for a special touch
From the God that loves you so very much,
A love poem arrives to cause heart to smile or sing.
A little extra gift delivered to the child of the King.

Come to the Special Place By Brenda Drake

faithgodreachingjpg

            It took awhile before I discovered the truth of God’s wonderful space prepared  for me.  In this atmosphere I am free to be me.  I am totally accepted as I am.  In this place there is a never ending supply for all I need, want, or desire.  Our Lord desires us to have a personal, intimate, and never-ending relationship with Him.  It is then our priviledge and responsibility to spread the good news of His provisions of salvation with another. When we do we and others are assured God has made Himself a special place within us.

Come to the Special Place

Some come to prayer’s door and think it is close enough.
They throw out a prayer request in hope God picks it up.
Some peek around the corner to get a glimpse or two;
Then they run off and think they are through.
Some attempt to ride into God’s presence on another’s back,
Convinced they arrive and are on track.
Some like a pauper beg for favor at God’s feet;
They act like one homeless living on the street.
God loves so much He paid your sin debt.  Why would you suppose
He would shun you or turn up His nose?
Would He require an appointment to meet with Him,
When He never takes His eyes off you and longs to live within?
So great is His desire that He calls each day;
To come boldly to the throne-room.  He will not turn you away.
Share your life and concerns with Him and you will see,
The most comforting and safe place you could ever desire to be.
The Lord beckons to come your soul will be satisfied.
There is a special place prepared just for you to abide.

I John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,  that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.

Love Never Takes a Vacation By Brenda Drake

jesus saving lambbde28512652d8296e9a060a2682468ec

        I think planning for a vacation is almost as much fun as the vacation.  Have you almost been glad to return to the normal routine because you needed to rest after your vacation?  We do need to spend some time enjoying a break from all our duties; but I am glad God does not take time off to go on vacation.  I am equally glad of His assurance He enjoys what He does.

Love Never Takes a Vacation

Love never takes a vacation, it is always near.
If love took vacation the world would be overcome in fear.
God displays His love on every side.
His creation shouts “It is good to be alive!”
Love extends itself; it comes even in the rain.
It is evident in every place; even in great pain.
Love spread out His arms and paid the debt of sin.
There is no greater pain than what was endured by Him.
Love says, “Forgive them they know not what they do.”
His love is so generous He also offers His love to you.
Love fills the air with His breath;
Love follows the faithful even unto death.
When weary love revives and gives strength
When thirsty love provides His sweet water to drink
When starving and you become thin,
He places at His table and feeds you His manna again.
The world’s darkness is very black its true,
But one act of love will light the way for you.
Evilness and animosity are on every side,
But they flee when in love you abides.
A future without God is a place called hell,
Where those disobedient and the evil one dwells
But the future for the redeemed is bright as the Son
For in the fullness of Love they have come.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Follow Me Brenda Drake

follow me resize

            The words Follow me is the greatest invitation we can get.  He does not promise us a rose garden but He does promise us eternal life with Him.  He gives us all we need to arrive victorious.  What is our answer when He says, follow me?

Follow Me

Follow me says the Father in the footsteps of the Son.
As you flow in the Spirit we arrive on time to get the good work done.
Be as trusting as a child as you obey,
Fully confident you on the right path stay.
With faith and trust in the One you adore,
Wearing the armor provided and supplied by the Lord.
The way is cleared, the enemy takes flight,
For you are surrounded and covered with God’s favor and light.
Keep your eyes on the truth, He is also the way, and life.
No matter the surroundings keep God’s Word in sight.
Seek the Word, speak the Word, and draw the Word near.
In prayer and in deed, live it loud and clear.
Come let us continue on this journey of the heart,
Fully rest in your Savior who has wood you from the start.
There is a work to be done.  God is your strength within.
You will encourage and draw another to their life journey begin,
Following after Jesus the One who sets them free,
So they are able to hear God’s Spirt say Come, follow me.

Matthew 4:19
 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

John 8;12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

A page out of Waves of Comfort by Brenda drake

KidsAtNight_660x440

          I remember as a young child standing in my room at my Grandmother’s house, looking up to the heavens and saying, “God, if you are really there why don’t you talk to me?”  I listened but I did not hear a thing. Many years later after I had asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior and had invited Him in my heart…I heard Him speak!   I was sound asleep and I heard “God is Love, Jesus is forgiveness” I woke up immediately.  Oh how excited I was – I knew it was God!  I then woke my husband up and repeated the wonderful message He spoke to me (he probably thought I had went crazy). I wrote it down in a little book.  I was so excited not only could I talk to God but also He would speak to me!

   Much later after the Holy Spirit taught me to listen I received this poem that reminded me of that day when as a child I called out that I wanted to hear him.

He had heard me!  I just could not hear Him.

There was a small girl child with eyes open wide to see
That called out to the heavens to a word from God receive
She challenged me to listen and to speak to her clear
But she did not have a heart able to hear
Many years went by and I called out to her many times
But one fine day her heart with truth aligned
It still took her awhile to rest enough to hear my voice
Now the little child can daily draw near so her heart can rejoice

The Word says God knew me and loved me even in my mother’s womb.  He knew me before He made the earth!

Psalms 139:13-14
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.  I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
