Blessed By Brenda Drake

        Sometimes we can get so caught up with the problems of the day: the bad news, the dire predictions, our financial situation, and our family and friends problems, we forget to count our blessings.  Really when we have Jesus, He is all we need.  We are indeed blessed,

Blessed

Blessed at my first glimpse of day,
Blessed as I bow my head to pray,
Blessed as I begin to unfold,
The Holy Scriptures that are more precious than gold.
I am filled with wonder at the beauty of such favor.
It is an eternal blessing that I savor.
My heart, mind, and emotion all come to rest,
At the holy place where I am blessed,
I take a deep breath of the peace supplied;|
Glad again that in Him I am alive.
My ears and eyes are opened for new direction to come;
With full assurance I am led by the Spirit to honor God’s Son.
I will rejoice and be glad at such favor in my life.
I will bring all praise and glory to the love of my life.
Jesus is the biggest blessing this heart could receive,
In Him, is all I crave for and all that I need.
Blessed in the morning, noon-day, and into the hours of night;
He is the biggest blessing in my life,
He is the light that enters and inside rests.
He has chased away all darkness and worry, this is why I am so blessed.

Hebrews 6:13-14
For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

Love Never Takes a Vacation By Brenda Drake

Jesus is our example in every way.  He loved us so much He died to save us from the consequences of our sins, and eternal loss. We also need to learn to love….By dying to the selfish nature that places our own needs and desires above those of others that touch our lives. In our families we have ample opportunity to practice the Lord’s example set before us. The Holy Spirit will help us when we choose to do as our  God desires.  Lord, help us to choose to do the good, right thing even when it hurts and it feels so wrong!

Love Never Takes a Vacation

Love never takes a vacation; God displays His love on every side.
His creation shouts “It is good to be alive.”
Love extends itself in the sunshine and in the rain.
It is evident in every place; even in great pain.
Love offered His life to pay the debt of sin.
There was no greater pain than what was endured by Him.
Love said, “Forgive them they know not what they do”
His love is so generous; He still shares His love with you.
Love fills your life with His breath.
Love follows the faithful even unto death.
When you become weary, love will revive and give you strength.
When you are thirsty, love is the sweet water for you to drink.
When you are hungry and become thin,
He will place you at His table and will feed you again.
The world has a darkness that is very black it’s true;
But one act of love will light the way for you.
Evil and hatred is on every side,
But they flee when in love you abide.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Let my Words Paint a Picture By Brenda Drake

I like to paint pictures of the beauty God’s creation. But my heart truely desires to paint a picture in words that show the utter beauty of all Jesus has done and what lies ahead for His children.

Let My Words Paint a Picture by Brenda Drake

One day I will walk on streets of gold and will watch the angels fly;
And I will behold all the colors used to paint sky.
The Jewel of heaven will before me stand,
And as I bow down low He will reach for my hand.
There is no emotion held in check,
My heart fills with a joy I have not felt yet.
Every hope has been surpassed,
 Every dream is fulfilled at last.
Until then my Lord like a child I wait to see,
All the wonderful gifts that the Word has promised me.
As I walk upon the rocky path of the earth I dwell,
As strange as it seems I walk also in heavens streets as well.
In tune with Holy Spirit perhaps I will recognize,
The wonderful gifts that are placed before my eyes.
Give me heart that sees the beauty in the place I am.
Help me recognize and find Your lost jewels in the land.
Give me Your loving touch Lord, as I reach out to them.
Let my words paint a picture of love that they can take within;
That administers a taste of the joy and the peace,
That lies ahead for Your redeemed.
I thank You Jesus for such a glorious future we can savor.
Thank You for such love and such abundant favor.

            Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Psalms 94:19
In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul

He is Beautiful By Brenda Drake

Never were the colors of life as beautiful and bright as the day I confessed and repented my sins and asked Jesus to be my Savior. The more I behold the truth and begin to comprehend the majesty of God the more precious Jesus is to me. He is beautiful.

He is Beautiful

There are so many things in the world to see
Lovely colors displayed endlessly
The sky color is blue some would say
But I’ve seen countless color combinations on display
Mountains and hills tinted green, brown or white,
Or even blue, pink or purple cause observing eyes delight.
Rivers and streams sometimes look blue, brown and green.
The many shades of trees, grass and flowers are amazing
But when we get a glimpse to reveal,
The Treasure of Heaven and His touch we feel;
There is nothing that can compare to Him.
All life’s riches are found in Him
He is beautiful, so beautiful.. in wonder we become aware,
The amazingly marvelous gift He shares.
His love offered His life to give life to the lost.
He suffered greatly to pay our debt of sin on the cross.
He is beautiful, so beautiful is all my heart can say;
All I am and ever will be is invested in His name.
I am free to live with eyes able now to behold,
All the beauty that this new life can hold.
I am able to recognize the One who lights the way for me;
So His beauty is evident in all that I see.

John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Come Soar with God By Brenda Drake

It sure feels good to soar with God, free from burdens at last.

We get so busy in our everyday life almost before we realize it we are piled high with the many things that cause heaviness within.   Jesus is always available to lift our load as we lift up our prayer requests. This poem encourages us to share every concern with Him. He promises to not only listen to us but to answer with His assurance, comfort, and joy.

Come Soar with God

Come soar over obstacles in the way.
You are lifted over them when you pray.
The dream that illusively seems out of reach,
The answer to the question you refuse to speak,
The doubts and even the fears,
That clouds your thoughts with unshed tears,
Come let us examine these things;
Bring them one by one to Christ the King.
Your vision inspired by God above;
Will be delivered on wings of love.
With God on your side and with His rule within,
Is there a chance of failure with Him?
With joy, peace and salvations sure hold,
How is it possible you do not walk with Him on streets of gold?
How could the bride of heaven with garments pure in Christ,
Not be comforted by the joy of God’s presence in their life?
Come and soar with the lover of your heart and soul;
Rest confident in His sure, loving hold.

Psalms 27:5
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:
in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;
he shall set me up upon a rock.

All Because of God’s Smile By Brenda Drake

I remember working hard trying to receive a smile of approval from my step-father.    My concept of God was tainted by the harshness of my experiences when young.  Even after I received the gift of salvation, I acted much the same way as I did back then.  I toiled extra hard to please my heavenly Father too.  Just as when I was growing up, I did not feel I was doing well and was disappointing God.  I now know He smiled upon me before I was born.  I do not need to work for His love and approval.  Jesus already loved me enough to die for my every lack and sin.  He knew I could never be pleasing without His help.  My heavenly Father’s smile is always upon me because of my Lord’s work in my behalf.

All Because of God’s Smile

It all started because of God’s smile on man;
Hope lifted up high and beheld His plan.
His love smiles down in favor each day,
Inviting, and calling, to behold the Way.
All because of His smile light shines within,
The blind beholds and recognizes the darkness of sin.
In this special appointed time,
There is sweet release of soul, heart, body, and mind.
Salvation’s smile of mercy and grace,
Draws seeking hearts to God’s embrace.
There the joy knows no bounds.
The lost is indeed found.
Heaviness vanishes, with new awareness and new life,
Introduced to cause sweet inner delight.
A warm settling of assurance; all is right with your soul,
As new direction and new purpose overflows and unfolds.
All because of a smile pointed your way is this story true;
Your thanks, praise, and worship is a smile to Him from you.
Go forth and deliver the gift of love to another.
Preach the Gospel so God’s smile is by another discovered.

Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

A Strange Thing Occurs By Brenda Drake

Stand of the plan of God at all times.

        My feelings have been like a roller coaster ride.  I really never like roller-coasters by the way.  Hope then fearful, beginning to think I understand and then complete confusion.  Light at the end of the tunnel and then it seemed to be blocked again.  Oh my, but for God and His sure touch on my life.

A Strange Thing Occurs

Father, the world is talking loud threats;
Of sure difficulty ahead, and even more death.
My heart hurts at the loss I see on every side;
From financial strain in families of those who died.
Confusing mind-blowing, whistle-blowing words, circle and attack.
It seems there is very little we can know are facts.
In my quiet times when I travel to God’s Word,
A very strange and wonderful thing occurs.
My heart is settled as in Your care I rest.
Again I find the truth and it again I confess.
My God is able and on Him I depend;
All things, on earth and in heaven, bows down to Him.
I am firmly in His sight and on His mind.
He loves me to spend with Him some time.
Life’s complications are calmly handled the best way.
The outcome of it all is already portrayed.
God is in control, it is already written what will come.
So in Jesus’ name I pray Lord, thy will be done;
In my life, and in the world that seems to be in such chaos and woe.
I will listen instead to the Spirit of God that brings peace and confidence again to my soul.

Proverbs 19:21
There are many devices in a man’s heart;
nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea,
I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Mother’s Day Today By Brenda Drake

There are always things that cause our hearts some disquiet and these troubling times are no exception, but one thing we can and must do is think on the things that are beautiful, kind and good.  Think on the things beautiful, kind and good about your mother today to honor not only her or her memory but also the God that gave her as a gift to you.

Mother’s Day Today

Mother’s day today may seem a little strange,
And perhaps may not be celebrated quite the same.
But let’s concentrate on what is and always will be true;
What your mother is to you.
She is the very first heartbeat you heard.
And no matter how old you are you can recall her words.
Some assurances that directed or encouraged in troubled times,
Perhaps are some of her talks that come to mind.
She is the one that always was first to comfort you,
And the one that quickly kissed your boo-boos.
Her work done for you, you could never repay;
Think alone at all the meals she’s made.
The laundry, and hours of toil, perhaps even on her knees;
Praying and working to hungry hearts and mouths to feed.
Mothers are indeed a wonder so great that only time,
Can testify all their attributes packed inside that come to mind.
Shower her with gifts yes, but greatest gift of all would be,
A very thankful heart that honors the high place she deserves to be.
When you honor her you honor God above.
As you praise her you are also showering upon God your love.

Proverbs 31:28
Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Proverbs 1:8-9
My son, hear the instruction of thy father,
and forsake not the law of thy mother:
 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head,
and chains about thy neck.

Wrapped in His Embrace By Brenda Drake

When life rains on our parade it is our choice to allow it to cloud our day, steal our joy, and sour our outlook for the future; or we can place all in God’s hands and allow Him to bring comfort and peace and joy into every situation we face.  God is in control and He is good.  It is always the right time to rest in His care wrapped in His embrace.

Wrapped in His Embrace

Sweet comforts of joy fill up and overflow,
With healthy life-giving strength, to the well-loved soul.
The day’s new light closes yesterday’s door;
Another day to offer in service to the Lord.
Makeshift plans are laid aside,
So God’s purpose can arrive.
The heart sings even in the rain,
For in God’s sunshine it remains.
Joy has some friends that desire to stay,
The wise will not turn them away.
Peace and contentment along with trust, faith, and rest,
Are sent by the most-loving Father who plans for your best.
Make room for them; wisdom and direction is ready to speak,
Giving the assurance that you seek.
Love and rejoice and allow God’s helpers to assist.
At their direction and ministration do not resist.
Allow the Comforter to wrap you in His embrace.
This is a gift of love provided by God’s mercy and grace.

Deuteronomy 33:27
The eternal God is thy refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms:
and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee;
and shall say, Destroy them.

The Measure that is True By Brenda Drake

We have a tendency to look at how far we need to go to be like Jesus.  The evil one is sure to point out everything that does not measure up.  Our worth needs to be seen by the light of the Word of God.  When we allow God’s truth inside, it indeed will set us free.
The truth is God loved us before we loved Him.  Jesus died to set us free from the bondage of sin.  The truth is…. Grace saves us, not our own goodness.  We are saved by Jesus’s work on the cross, not by our own works of the flesh.
When we compare ourselves with others, we may come away feeling condemned and greatly lacking.  When we measure ourselves by the sacrifice on our behalf, we will know that God loves every person with the same passion.  We do not need to feel inferior or jealous of another again.

The Measure That Is True

Measure yourself not by others, but from where you have come.
Do not look at another to see how well you have done.
For always, you will see the example that makes you feel small.
The most important thing is God loves all.
You are just as large in His sight as the one you so admire.
You are dressed in the very same attire.
The same robe of righteousness was placed upon each back.
When you have accepted Jesus, you have no lack.
Measure what you are by the only measure that is true.
The measure of your worth is the work of the One that died for you.
In the Father’s eyes, He sees you tall and pure.
There is no need to fear when you are in God secured.
See how far you have come – the great changes that have taken place.
The old man is no more; you are born anew under grace.
Love one another and appreciate how far they have come too.
Be glad and rejoice for you both in the same Spirit move.

Ephesians 4:4-7
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
