. We need not be afraid but I believe it is wise to be ready when the storms of life threaten us with all its uncertainties. We all need to hear the distant thunder and prepare. With God on our side we have nothing to fear.
The Distant Thunder
There is a great storm coming, Hear the sound of distant thundering? Prepare your house; is it built on foundation strong? Are things in order where it belongs? When the high winds come are you ready? Can you withstand the blows hard and steady? Is there unfinished business you need to attend? Have you shut up the house with the enemy within? Is there a good supply food and water to drink that’s pure? Has your larder been kept clean and secure? The storm is coming…. make a foundation check Have you asked Jesus to forgive you and to save you yet? If so you must renounce the dirty things that stain, Do not allow any known sin to remain. For the enemy will steal away every ounce of joy and peace within, And will taint the good food and water with sin. Guard the doors with prayer in the power of Jesus’ name. The Holy Spirit will assist so your life securely remains. The storms are real but prepared hearts will survive. For the love and power of Jesus keeps them alive.
Psalms 81:7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
` Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. This poem tells us much the same Godly advice. Do not cave in, do not stop; trust the help of the One that kept on the path to finish His good work in our behalf on the cross. Whatever comes we must set our face and our heart to carry on, to finish the work set before us; with His help we are victorious!
Carry on warriors; battles rage day and night; If you persevere, the enemy takes flight. Carry on child, great strength is on your knees. Pray the Word; praise and trust wins you victories. Carry on weary traveler that walks the harsh land below. Tell others of the Savior that died to save their soul. Carry on – continue the work you have begun, That gives glory and honor to your Savior, God’s Son. Do not tarry, ready yourselves for the Bride Grooms returns. Know overcomers a great honor earns. Carry on watchmen, tell others what you see. Give them the warnings I give to thee. Carry on all who listen, the Word tells you the same. For all that continues, receives a new name. All that overcome in the trials of life shall see; The great arrival of Jesus, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings All that carry on shall not be alone any more For the One that is and was, will be with you forever more
Revelations 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
John 15:7-9 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
I love flowers. I am not a gardener. My love of flowers does not come from my efforts. God is the gardener of our soul. He is the beauty that flowers from within us. Oh how sweet is the love of God, He deserves all the praise and glory.
Flowers from a Hopeful Heart
Like the sweet aroma of a willing rose, Is the praise of a heart that God’s Word knows. Hopeful hearts see the sun shine ahead on a rainy day. Though cloudy on the outside they are warmed by inner rays. Another flower that comes from the heart of hope, Is the sure knowledge God is in control. The sweet assurance of His love and care, Is another flower of hope with another to share. Flowers from a hopeful heart walk at a steady pace, Under the sure covering of God’s mercy and grace. They live in His anointing and of His nourishment partakes. Lights in the dark world all the difference makes. An encouraging word, a loving timely rebuke, A helping hand in time of need; are all flowers delivered too. There is sweet aroma of a life whose hope is in God above. They bloom in the land; seeds planted in the garden of love.
Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
When I think of all the wonderful promises that lie ahead when my Lord Jesus returns; my heart soars with a great indescribable joy. Then I am reminded by the Holy Spirit, He is always working right now in our everyday life. Several times I have experienced His delivered beauty instead some of my life’s discouraging ashes.
Ashes; Blown Away by the Wind
Yesterday’s ashes blow away in the wind; gathered no more to be kept; For the flower of tomorrow has no room for any of it. The deep lines of worry etched by time on the face, Are blown away they too are forever erased. The heavy thoughts that fight to surface now and then; They too are blown away by the wind. Pain, and despair, fears and shame, And every other discomfort that torments by any other name; All are ashes. All are discarded they are useless to keep. Ashes are everything that causes the heart to weep. Until this glorious day there is instruction wise, Fill your mind with Jesus, look into His eyes. Look into the promises in God’s Word. When you practice daily a new truth occurs, He indeed shares His beauty and places it within, Ashes are not kept there they are blown away by the wind.
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Isaiah 61:3 o appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
Some ugly and great emotions have been given a name. This poem tells of Angry Andrew and Peaceful Pete. Hope its message is clear. We do not need to nurture or entertain anger when we follow after Jesus.
Angry Andrew comes knocking at Peaceful Pete’s door Peaceful Pete says I’m sorry I do not entertain you anymore But Peaceful Pete must be careful for when he turns his back Angry Andrew can easily slip through the cracks He knows all about him, he has been burned by anger’s fire But since he met Jesus and has His Spirit acquired He has the ability in Jesus’ name To conquer – the Living Water has put out the angry flames!
Psalms 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
When we practice the presence of God the dark world and its problems, fade in the light of His love. What a lovely, wonderful place, its value is more than all the worlds riches!
In the Lap of Love
When you struggle to your feet, and each step is slowed; There is something that you need to know. Your burden is too heavy, get on your knees within, And I will lift you up into the lap of love again. When you are hurting and your armor has been misplaced, And you feel weak, come I’ll lift you into My embrace. Confess yours sin of unforgiveness and you will be, Lifted within as My strength you receive. When drained and discouraged in your toil, And your garments of praise have become soiled, Come, I’ll refresh you with a new supply. I’ll lift you up and fill you with fresh joy so you are not dry. Perhaps you feel lonely and need a friend to speak to; Come, I’ll lift you up in my lap of love – I will listen to you. The love of God calls out “Come, I will fill you up” “It is My desire to show you love” “Just come and rest – come at any time” “You do not need a reason when you are Mine” When a small child appears and simply lays upon your chest, There is great comfort to your soul as they rest. Just so the Father’s heart yearns for you to draw near; Come at any time child, never approach in fear. When lifted to the lap of love peace will satisfy your soul. For in this place of luxury, you know beyond a doubt who is in control!
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
It is crucial to trust God. There are times when our world is seemingly turned upside down and out of control. When we settle in our heart that God loves us and that He is in control, we in confidence are able to rely on the promises in the Word. We will not run away from Him but will run to Him for help.
Run to God
Do not be afraid, when God is your friend. Because of Jesus you can run to Him. Jesus’ life paved the way, So, on His path you are able to stay. When distressed with all kinds of woe, Run to Him; share with Him what He already knows. When you are angry or bitter with another, Run to God and you will discover, The heart willing to forgive finds release. Hearts fly free to rest in peace, Are you feeling alone all by yourself? God is always near and always willing to help. Are you weary in your toil? Do you feel weak? Turn to God and His assistance seek. He is willing to carry you until strength returns again. So, in the next issue faced you are able to again run to Him. Come when you are happy and full of joy too. For God rejoices as He runs with you.
Psalms 37:39-40 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
In the troubled times perceived ahead; in Christ we still can experience a peace that settles deep within our heart, mind and soul. Circumstances may not change as rapidly as the change undergone within. Instead of fear of the future we can have faith to face the future. Instead of hoping and praying for things to change we are given the ability to make a change. Instead of being a victim we become in Christ a victor. Rather than looking for outward sources to help in trying times we stand on and testify God is our help in times of trouble. God equips us with ability and knowledge to successfully face the giant knowing He will for us and through us destroy our enemy and chase fear from our land.
Peace Settles Deep
Lovely and quiet moments; when turmoil is stilled; When, your heart is raised in prayer ready to be filled. In the strange silence……peace settles deep, And even more strange it seems you are filled with new strength. The problems are laid down and are firmly placed, In the care of the One you trust; to be by joy replaced. The circumstances may not yet be changed, but somehow you know, The One you love and serve is in full control. The air has been cleared of the stench within, The atmosphere is filled with the sweet aroma of your Lord again. Lovely, quiet ….sometimes when not a word is said, You’ve been freed from every worry and every fear of dread. You are emptied and filled almost in one breath it seems; So great is this place prepared for the redeemed!
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid
I am not as afraid of storms as I used to be. But I still would not choose to be out in a little boat in a stormy sea. When our life is in precarious position it is wise to place our trust and faith in the One that will either lift us out of danger, ride the waves with us, or will say to the storm “Peace be still.” Be wise and be safe.
Out in the waters dark and deep, There is danger when the boat leaks. In the icy waters it is hard to survive. In its vastness it is hard to stay alive. You are in a world of angry waves; With power and ability to carry you away. Out in the murky waters of sin, Do not attempt to swim. Stay in the safe place prepared for you. For the world’s blackness will harm or destroy you. Treacherous effects are lurking, In places hard to see. The wise will not travel into the stormy places if life. They will rest in Jesus as He guards their life. He is the One that calms the troubled sea for you. If needed ….He will rescue you too. Angry waves troubles the soul, But Jesus will never let you go. So as you face the winds in life Place your faith and trust in Him -you are never out of His sight.
Psalms 107:28-29 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
I used to be petrified in storms. But one day I discovered the One that is in control of the storm provides a safe place for those that place their trust in Him. Place your trust in Jesus and the fear subsides and peace like a warm blanket will cover and protects your soul.
The storm rages ….the troubled sea tosses about; The mind fills with fear, worry, and doubt. Why?” “Where are you?” “What can I do?” Then…”I’m in trouble Lord I need help from you.”
Your call is always heard ….when in distress, Your God lifts, you to in His hand rest. The storm may still blow but you are secure again; You are at peace deep within. Divine shelter is never withheld – it is always there. It is reached at times of prayer. Just a call is all it takes; And the harsh winds I break. Divine protection provides rest to regain strength; So with God’s power you are able to face the stormy sea. Never are you asked to travel all alone my friend. Remember, even if the storm rages… the sun shines soon again.
Isaiah 25:4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
