Divine Shelter By Brenda Drake

I used to be petrified in storms.  But one day I discovered the One that is in control of the storm provides a safe place for those that place their trust in Him.  Place your trust in Jesus and the fear subsides and peace like a warm blanket will cover and protects your soul.

Divine Shelter

The storm rages ….the troubled sea tosses about;
The mind fills with fear, worry, and doubt.
Why?”  “Where are you?” “What can I do?”
Then…”I’m in trouble Lord I need help from you.”

Your call is always heard ….when in distress,
Your God lifts, you to in His hand rest.
The storm may still blow but you are secure again;
You are at peace deep within.
Divine shelter is never withheld – it is always there.
It is reached at times of prayer.
Just a call is all it takes;
And the harsh winds I break.
Divine protection provides rest to regain strength;
So with God’s power you are able to face the stormy sea.
Never are you asked to travel all alone my friend.
Remember, even if the storm rages… the sun shines soon again.

Isaiah 25:4
For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

Enter the Rest By Brenda Drake

When mayhem seems to surround us, and conflicting reports confuse our mind and troubles our heart, it seems almost laughable to say we need to find the place where we are at rest.  But this is exactly what we can and must do.  This is a different kind of rest; it is a supernatural kind of rest.  God is very happy to assist us to do what He asks us to do.  He is our rest, He is our comfort, and He is our peace.  He is trustworthy and will do as He says He will do.  It takes a step of faith; standing on the Word of God, with an inner knowing God is for us and will never leave us to work it all out on our own power alone.

Enter the Rest

Precious love and pure joy the very best,
Are known by them that in God rest.
What causes to stumble and to fall,
Will be put to rest at your call.
What could be greater than what I can do?
Nothing is impossible; I will take care of you.
My hand is always ready to lead, my eyes never stray,
I will never leave you or turn from you away.
Relax and know I take you to the sacred place,
Jesus’ sacrifice provides; under the banner of grace.
I prove there is no one as strong,
Through each difficulty, I help you along.
Trust in your God, you can truly rest when you sleep,
I never close my eyes; on you them I keep.
All things I provide, but I call you trust me;
Happily at peace and restful then you will be.

Exodus 33:14
And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Wrapped in His Embrace By Brenda Drake

When life rains on our parade it is our choice to allow it to cloud our day, steal our joy, and sour our outlook for the future; or we can place all in God’s hands and allow Him to bring comfort and peace and joy into every situation we face.  God is in control and He is good.  It is always the right time to rest in His care wrapped in His embrace.

Wrapped in His Embrace

Sweet comforts of joy fill up and overflow,
With healthy life-giving strength, to the well-loved soul.
The day’s new light closes yesterday’s door;
Another day to offer in service to the Lord.
Makeshift plans are laid aside,
So God’s purpose can arrive.
The heart sings even in the rain,
For in God’s sunshine it remains.
Joy has some friends that desire to stay,
The wise will not turn them away.
Peace and contentment along with trust, faith, and rest,
Are sent by the most-loving Father who plans for your best.
Make room for them; wisdom and direction is ready to speak,
Giving the assurance that you seek.
Love and rejoice and allow God’s helpers to assist.
At their direction and ministration do not resist.
Allow the Comforter to wrap you in His embrace.
This is a gift of love provided by God’s mercy and grace.

Deuteronomy 33:27
The eternal God is thy refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms:
and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee;
and shall say, Destroy them.

Take a Deep Breath By Brenda Drake

When we begin to feel the breathless threats of fear begin its attack, we need to breathe in God’s peace.  It is available at any time of day or night.  It may sound silly to some but I actually do take deep breaths of Him and breathe out fear, anxiety, and frustration.  God is good.  He is faithful to be our help in times of trouble.  He is in full control, what do we have to fear with Him on our side?

Take a Deep Breath

Take a deep breath, breathe in God’s peace.
Blow out all the worry and fear, so faith is increased.
Do this a few times more,
And you will feel the strength of the Lord.
Now set your face to the future; stare it hard in the face.
State with conviction you are firmly in God’s embrace.
Redeem the extra time you have; wisely it spend,
Thinking and doing, what is good to magnify your God again.
Look around at God’s blessing and look within too,
Give thanks and praise for all He has done for you.
Allow the songs of salvation to flood your soul;
Assuring and proving God is in control.
Search the Scriptures with a heart willing to see,
The promises and provisions God has delivered to thee.
Take a deep breath; breathe in love, peace and power,
That allows you to live fully in the world’s troubled hours.

Job 33:3-4
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart:
and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
 The Spirit of God hath made me,
and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Calm Your Troubled Sea By Brenda Drake

In one of my tipsy-turvy times when trying to figure things out on my own; because of the churning in my spirit I was not even able pray.   The Lord revealed how to get back the peace I once enjoyed in His presence.  All it really takes is a humble heart that fully admits its inability to go it alone, and that truly repents of it sins and its self-assured ways.
When we trust and speak the truth of the Word of God , we are able to effectivly use the name of Jesus in our prayer requests.  Even if we do not have all the answers we can know God is in control. We are able to rest in His care and will for our life.

Calm Your Troubled Sea

A storm rages, there is a troubled sea,
Within you it is not calm or at peace.
Your thoughts are uncertain; blowing with the wind,
Some wrong emotions are bottled up within.
Tossed to one side, then to another,
Rocking in a vessel but seeking cover,
But it is not a pleasant journey at all,
If you attempt to stand you stumble and fall.
This is not a word of rebuke as you might suppose,
It is a word to assure you, all things God knows.
What can be done about this trouble within?
Admit your attitude is indeed sin.
Admit your faith needs working on,
And that you are weak not all that strong.
As for the troubled waters about you;
Something can be done for that too.
 Jesus’ love provided your redemption.
He broke the chains and bondage of sin,
He deposited new authority to your new inner-man.
He offers His name to make your demands.
In Jesus name, declare to the raging water, peace be still;
Perfectly fitting in the Father’s will.
The enemy will surely torment the heart that allows him to.
This need not be, heed this word is delivered to you.

John 16:23
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Life Giving Waters By Brenda Drake

            It is normal in our troubled times; with all the bad news and dire predictions of the future, to feel under pressure.  We strive to adapt to the unwelcome changes in our life, and fearfully face the prospect of our new normal.   We are saddened at the dreadful state of many of the  elderly, sick, and poor at home and abroad.  Hearts cry at the terrible conditions our doctors, nurses and  countless unsung heroes are daily facing.  The Word of God teaches and assures even when we experience anxiety and stress and feel out of control; God is in control.  We need to remember, as we follow Him and practice faith, trust, and prayer in Jesus’ name; He never fails to heal hurting hearts. He always gives the strength and ability to do whatever we are called to do.  This poem calls us to Come to His life-giving waters.

Life Giving Waters

Come to the River of Life

Flowing water is a welcome sight to see,
When the ground is parched and it moisture needs
Water brings abundance to the lifeless place.
New life will rise up from the dry place.
Flower’s spring forth; aroma fills the air.
Singing birds dwell in brush growing there.
Joy delivered from God…His goodness abounds,
When life-giving water touches dry ground
As this is, a soul is; when they are thirsting within,
 Living Water makes new-life again.
The life of the thirsty man is made whole.
They are eternally thankful when brought to the river’s flow.
 Springs of joy cause the blooms of praise and worship inside;
Peace fills the air where the Lord abides.
God’s love the redeemed again wish to share;
His beauty is yet to be compared.
Come to the water drink some more
Drink freely of the provision provided by the Lord

Psalms 63:1-5
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
