Who Needs a Doctor, Who Needs a Friend by Brenda Drake

I had a great hunger and thirst for God, and I needed a doctor, and  a friend. I am thankful someone took time to show me the way to find Him.

Who Needs a Doctor

Who needs a doctor?  Who needs a friend?
Who is it that is poor in spirit within?
What man is hungry? Does he thirst too?
Can this one find what he lacks when he comes to you?
Are you filled with the indwelling Christ?
Is He able to minister through your life?
His love refills and restores, His strength empowers
So great is His desire to upon His chosen His blessings shower.
If you need a doctor…if you need a friend;
If you are poor in spirit come freely to receive again.
He will not hold back in anger nor will He turn away.
For He needs many more laborers, to help show the lost the way.

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
Psalms 103:3-6

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me
Matthew 25:35-40

The Divine Guide By Brenda Drake

What a wonderful display of love is shown to us in the plan of Salvation. We are blessed with the gift of life and the greater gift of eternal life with God because of the great sacrifice of our Lord Jesus.  Jesus then sent us Holy Spirit to lead, guide, teach, and comfort us till we get there or until He returns for us.

The Divine Guide

In the womb formed,
Before the day you were born,
You were known and seen clear,
Well-loved and held most dear.
Before the world began you were on God’s mind.
So precious is His love and so great is His design.
His plan was to draw you close and make you His bride.
Jesus knew He would for your sins die.
His love calls to Him,
To save from the grasp of sin.
His everlasting love leads and guides the way.
His Spirit teaches to obey.
He is Divine guide, Teacher, Comforter and friend,
He is the Good Shepherd that leads you from within.
The guide of the soul leads to the cross of shame,
To show the “Way“….Jesus is His name.
He saves, restores, and makes new inside.
He will never leave you as within He abides.
As you seek first His kingdom and trust His work in you,
You will abide in Him and will bear His fruit.
His fruit are sweet and causes pleasure to the soul;
Full of healthy results that prove God is in control.

1John 4:9
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

His Far Reaching Thoughts By Brenda Drake

            I love the Word of God and the wonderful work of the Holy Spirit.  I am thankful He opens up blind eyes to see truth and causes new life with promise to grow stronger each day.  He loves us so much and His thoughts toward us are good.

His Far Reaching Thoughts By Brenda Drake

Far reaching thoughts fall like rain;
And in awe and wonder they settle and remain.
When truth settles and is soaked in deep,
The value of life is increased.
New growth surely occurs;
Like a seed planted is the Word;
A seed of tomorrow with life anew;
A seed; full of potential inside of you.
Worship and praise rise up from inside,
Proving love and adoration is alive.
Jesus is the Lord of Lords and King of all Kings,
Only He is able to cause my heart to sing.
He is the Song of heaven that causes peace within.
He is the Word that comforts and draws to Him.
He is the truth like a seed grows strong and tall,
He is our future-promise and the anointing rain that falls.
He is Jesus, Son of God, the Light, and the Way.
He is the path I follow and the Word I obey.
Jesus is the high-tower and shelter from life’s storm,
He is my Savoir and the future for all the reborn.
He is in my thoughts day and night the same,
There is grace, hope and power in Jesus’ name.
His far reaching thoughts fall like refreshing rains
Words of adoration, honor, and praise to His glory proclaim.

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 3:20-21
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Dying Love By Brenda Drake

We have heard of undying love and have witnessed examples of love that has withered- up and died.  But what I desire to expound on is the Love that died to prove His undying love for us. Such love is almost impossible to wrap our minds around but we can and must grasp onto its truth before we can be a part of its magnificence.

Dying Love

When we think of dying love it is sad:
We think of a love that has lost the fervor it once had.
When it is dead it is tossed aside;
It stinks and causes hurt and bitterness inside.
Love is precious; it is a gift to treasure.
When nurtured and kept in high honor it causes great pleasure.
I tell of another love that is greater than any other kind.
Its magnitude and breadth could blow your mind.
This love was sacrificed to set you free.
It chose to die on a rugged tree.
This love did not diminish in its act.
Although it poured out, it draws us back.
Jesus loved enough to pay the sin-debt we could never pay.
His love encompasses us tight so we would not be tossed away.
God so loved the world He gave His own Son,
So whosoever-will, would believe to also love come.
Dying love takes on a whole new meaning for you see,
True love is a forever gift from God to thee.
Dying to self-will to serve Jesus is to also serve others.
Then His self-sacrificing kind of love is discovered.

1 John 4:19-21
We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.-

Hidden Gifts of Beauty By Brenda Drake

            I wonder how many gifts of love pass us by unseen.  The truth of God’s love and Jesus’ provision is the greatest display of love. It indeed is unrecognized by many lost souls.  Lord, help us clearly testify of the love you extended to us to help others see the beauty of salvation.

Hidden Gifts of Beauty

Camouflaged are some beautiful things;
You must be prepared or they pass by unseen.
Love many times is as close as a breath away.
It can and is expressed and shown in multitudes of ways.
Words gentle, motives pure, uplifting advice, with touch kind;
Has beauty with invisible treasures to find.
The Word of faith, with a light touch;
Has evidence of a precious offering of love.
Many things of value are taken for granted; even despised;
Such as the rays of the sun or the gleam in another’s eye.
Man does not always appreciate the gifts given them,
Time is wasted; it marches on never to return again.
People and situations change all of the time;
With opportunity to even more treasures find.
Take time to feel the heartbeat and dream of another hear,
For in a moment of time they may out of your life disappear.
God reveals camouflaged-beauty in an unlikely place;
At the cross when the true gospel is embraced.
Jesus’ love is greater and more powerful than you know.
He saw the great need in your lost soul.
He came to earth and died so you could be set free;
He saw the beauty that one day would be,
Without Him no value within is recognized,
But with Him precious and beautiful you are in the Father’s eyes.

Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Song of Songs 4:7
Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

Watching for the New Day By Brenda Drake

Watching for the New Day
By Brenda Drake

Oh how fast the years seem to pass.  We are now looking forward to a brand New Year; with hopes of new beginning we make our New Year resolutions.   But to many the change began with the day of Salvation, when God made the change within us.  We are new; we are born again into new life in Christ Jesus.

Watching for the New Day
By Brenda Drake

The New Year starts for many on New Year’s Day,
They have purposed to truly change their ways.
But for some change has already taken place;
They are a new man, born again, saved by grace.
The New Year ahead is a gift holding some treasures;
Pleasant, satisfying, that will bring much pleasure.
It may hold some trials, and certain rain; some,
Where the child of God is reminded their journey is not yet done.
The love and sure hold of the One they serve,
Ministers and comforts them undisturbed.
Each day added with God’s work on earth done.
They are watching as the bride for the return of God’s Son;
Waiting for a new day in a new world under Christ’s reign.
Where at last only love and Love’s influence will forever remain.

Revelations 19:11-16
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Revelations 20:1
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

How Far Could He See By Brenda Drake

The greatest day is the day You revealed Yourself to me.

How Far Could He See

Sorely beaten; upon his head a thorny crown roughly placed;
Great spikes pierced His flesh, His beard torn from His face;
Nailed on a cross with a sign above clearly seen.
A sea of faces: some crying, some mocking; evil, and mean.
Raised up with thieves, one on each side,
As a mass of people waited for them to die.
On His back, every sin of every man was known.
The perfect Son of God called each one His own.
How far could He see?” is the question asked.
He saw exactly where you are at.
He saw far into the future and as far back as sin’s start.
He accepted the penalty of each one so He could reign in your heart.
Every sin, every shame, every inability,
He saw and paid for at Calvary.
But great is the day when man’s opened eyes know,
Jesus raised so His new life in and through them could overflow.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.

If Love Was Visible By Brenda Drake

I know we can feel love, but can we see love?
God is love.  Love is plainly seen in the face of His Son Jesus.
How I love Him who first loved me.

If Love Was Visible

If love was visible we would see.
The softest, gentlest, feeling that could ever be.
Love’s colors are beautiful; full of kindness for others.
It is not forceful in any way; you will discover,
Words full of hope and peace it prefers.
Love’s touch is sacrificial and is willing to serve.
Love touches with as gentle a hand,
To lead and guide to the truth as it can.
As you recognize what love does and Who is Love in the Word,
You will desire show the world the truth you have heard.
Love is clearly visible….He is Jesus God’s Son;
And He can be and is seen in His chosen ones.

Ephesians 3:17-19
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Psalms 73:28
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

The Fire Touched Life By Brenda Drake

            This poem tells of clay being molded and shaped by the Potters hand.  I have felt His work in the forming and I have felt the heat of the fire applied to make me strong; and it is not always a pleasant feeling. I trust Him and I trust I will be made a vessel better to serve Him.

The Fire Touched Life

The fiery touch of Heaven upon a life,
Strengthens and conditions for service for Christ
Clay is formed; molded and shaped,
Into the vessel the potter desire to make.
When a flaw is evident it is started anew.
The same clay reformed is made a masterpiece into.
After its forming, it is placed into the fiery furnace,
So it will strengthen to endure at later service.
Love is at work within you. His work is intricate, sure and precise.
His full attention is in the formation of your life,
He has great plans for you, which only He is able to see.
It is a life of purpose, that brings profit for eternity,
So remember in yourself and others; the process is slow.
However there is great progress in the fire-touched soul.
The Holy Spirit never tires of His work inside,
So the outside like diamonds shine; proving Jesus within abides.

Isaiah 64:8
But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter;
and we all are the work of thy hand

There is Nothing as Awesome By Brenda Drake

The love of God for man is greater than our minds can ever comprehend.  When we recognize the gift of salvation and the unmerited favor of God for us there is nothing more precious.  All the pleasures and beauty of the world cannot come close to the splendor of the opportunity to spend eternity with a God that loved us so much He died to make us one with Him.

There is nothing as Awesome

Even the rainbow’s colors across the clear blue sky.
Or an majestic eagle when it spreads its wings to fly,
Or a bird’s songs of pure, sweet praise,
Or an innocent child with arms upraised,
Or the Sun’s shine on a lake of glass,
Or a life fulfilled with more than you ask.
Even a baby’s smile as it cuddles their mother’s breast,
Even when life is full of peace and happiness,
There is nothing as great, awesome, or as grand,
As a mental image of the Creator reaching down to man.
The loveliest flower, the sweetest song;
Most enchanting scene does not in the same realm belong.
For the One that created all there is and is to come,
Loved man so much He gave His Son.
Even the wings of butterflies, or wisps of golden strands of hair;
Cannot illustrate the soft touch of the love God with man has shared.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Psalms 104:1
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou
art clothed with honour and majesty.

Psalms 145:5
I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.
