Watching for the New Day By Brenda Drake

Watching for the New Day
By Brenda Drake

Oh how fast the years seem to pass.  We are now looking forward to a brand New Year; with hopes of new beginning we make our New Year resolutions.   But to many the change began with the day of Salvation, when God made the change within us.  We are new; we are born again into new life in Christ Jesus.

Watching for the New Day
By Brenda Drake

The New Year starts for many on New Year’s Day,
They have purposed to truly change their ways.
But for some change has already taken place;
They are a new man, born again, saved by grace.
The New Year ahead is a gift holding some treasures;
Pleasant, satisfying, that will bring much pleasure.
It may hold some trials, and certain rain; some,
Where the child of God is reminded their journey is not yet done.
The love and sure hold of the One they serve,
Ministers and comforts them undisturbed.
Each day added with God’s work on earth done.
They are watching as the bride for the return of God’s Son;
Waiting for a new day in a new world under Christ’s reign.
Where at last only love and Love’s influence will forever remain.

Revelations 19:11-16
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Revelations 20:1
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

How Far Could He See By Brenda Drake

The greatest day is the day You revealed Yourself to me.

How Far Could He See

Sorely beaten; upon his head a thorny crown roughly placed;
Great spikes pierced His flesh, His beard torn from His face;
Nailed on a cross with a sign above clearly seen.
A sea of faces: some crying, some mocking; evil, and mean.
Raised up with thieves, one on each side,
As a mass of people waited for them to die.
On His back, every sin of every man was known.
The perfect Son of God called each one His own.
How far could He see?” is the question asked.
He saw exactly where you are at.
He saw far into the future and as far back as sin’s start.
He accepted the penalty of each one so He could reign in your heart.
Every sin, every shame, every inability,
He saw and paid for at Calvary.
But great is the day when man’s opened eyes know,
Jesus raised so His new life in and through them could overflow.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.

If Love Was Visible By Brenda Drake

I know we can feel love, but can we see love?
God is love.  Love is plainly seen in the face of His Son Jesus.
How I love Him who first loved me.

If Love Was Visible

If love was visible we would see.
The softest, gentlest, feeling that could ever be.
Love’s colors are beautiful; full of kindness for others.
It is not forceful in any way; you will discover,
Words full of hope and peace it prefers.
Love’s touch is sacrificial and is willing to serve.
Love touches with as gentle a hand,
To lead and guide to the truth as it can.
As you recognize what love does and Who is Love in the Word,
You will desire show the world the truth you have heard.
Love is clearly visible….He is Jesus God’s Son;
And He can be and is seen in His chosen ones.

Ephesians 3:17-19
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Psalms 73:28
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

The Fire Touched Life By Brenda Drake

            This poem tells of clay being molded and shaped by the Potters hand.  I have felt His work in the forming and I have felt the heat of the fire applied to make me strong; and it is not always a pleasant feeling. I trust Him and I trust I will be made a vessel better to serve Him.

The Fire Touched Life

The fiery touch of Heaven upon a life,
Strengthens and conditions for service for Christ
Clay is formed; molded and shaped,
Into the vessel the potter desire to make.
When a flaw is evident it is started anew.
The same clay reformed is made a masterpiece into.
After its forming, it is placed into the fiery furnace,
So it will strengthen to endure at later service.
Love is at work within you. His work is intricate, sure and precise.
His full attention is in the formation of your life,
He has great plans for you, which only He is able to see.
It is a life of purpose, that brings profit for eternity,
So remember in yourself and others; the process is slow.
However there is great progress in the fire-touched soul.
The Holy Spirit never tires of His work inside,
So the outside like diamonds shine; proving Jesus within abides.

Isaiah 64:8
But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter;
and we all are the work of thy hand

There is Nothing as Awesome By Brenda Drake

The love of God for man is greater than our minds can ever comprehend.  When we recognize the gift of salvation and the unmerited favor of God for us there is nothing more precious.  All the pleasures and beauty of the world cannot come close to the splendor of the opportunity to spend eternity with a God that loved us so much He died to make us one with Him.

There is nothing as Awesome

Even the rainbow’s colors across the clear blue sky.
Or an majestic eagle when it spreads its wings to fly,
Or a bird’s songs of pure, sweet praise,
Or an innocent child with arms upraised,
Or the Sun’s shine on a lake of glass,
Or a life fulfilled with more than you ask.
Even a baby’s smile as it cuddles their mother’s breast,
Even when life is full of peace and happiness,
There is nothing as great, awesome, or as grand,
As a mental image of the Creator reaching down to man.
The loveliest flower, the sweetest song;
Most enchanting scene does not in the same realm belong.
For the One that created all there is and is to come,
Loved man so much He gave His Son.
Even the wings of butterflies, or wisps of golden strands of hair;
Cannot illustrate the soft touch of the love God with man has shared.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Psalms 104:1
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou
art clothed with honour and majesty.

Psalms 145:5
I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

Deepest Love By Brenda Drake

What kind of love is this?  The One most- high, the one- most pure, reached down to the lowest most sinful to make him new. The Creator chose to become part of the Creation.  He chose to die to pay the price of sin so we could taste the beauty of His presence. Eternity will allow the redeemed to discover the marvel of such wondrously, deep love.

Deepest Love

A love so deep; the deepest ocean is like a puddle when compared.
A love so wide, the universe cannot have room to spare.
A joy that’s description has never known words to fully teach;
That eon of times ahead and past cannot its limit reach.
A heart so big; a plan so marvelous and grand,
That no mortal ever was, is, or is to be, fully understands.
What is man, that God would place upon him the gift of His love?
Why would He look upon him with such favor from above?
So grand; He planned to make sinful man as clean as His own Son.
And desires to join them forever with Him as one.
It’s almost too much for minds to comprehend;
The fact He also calls to be His friend.
A love so wondrous; He allows man to be of it all a part.
Even grander, He decided to reside within their hearts.
Such a marvel to try to understand
But the wise offer their life to become all He has planned.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an
everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Woke By Brenda Drake

It feels like we are in a bad dream at times.  In our world what is up is declared as down. What is wrong is declared as right. Everything we have been taught is being nullified. However we are not fooled when we have found the Truth for He has woken us up to be aware of the enemy’s deception.

Woke

It is strange how meanings of words collide;
How their intents are on opposite sides.
God calls us to wake up to the truth receive.
So His soon return we can see.
He desires us to wake up to the call of love,
Born again to experience His touch.
Woke; the sleeping bride prepares for Jesus’ return;
Wise virgins with lamps tended with oil to burn.
To be “Woke” is an evil call as well;
With a very different story to tell.
These hear and are deceived to believe a lie.
They do not or they refuse to the truth recognize
Their life a different story shares,
Honoring their source of power unaware.
The evil-one marches forward with steps bold and rash,
Declaring a woke-generation, that does not rely on truth or facts.
Are you awake to God and His provision of love and care,
Able to the good news with others share,
Or woke to lying, seducing, killing spirits that promise things untrue
Your decision proves the Master you choose.

Romans 13:11-12
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Allow God to Love You By Brenda Drake

            I remember well the first day I allowed God to love me. After a hard day, alone with children tucked in bed, relaxed in recliner with no remote at hand, the evangelist came on television.  I was too lazy to get up and change the channel.  What a great day it turned out to be. For the first time I learned of the sad, hopeless condition of my soul. I became aware of the wonderful love of God and His provision in my behalf.  The amazingly beautiful gift of salvation through Jesus’ work on the cross becomes crystal clear each time I spend time in His presence in praise, worship, and prayer

Allow God to Love You

Allow God to love you, listen to this word of rhyme.
Give Him your attention, share with Him your time.
Rest your weary mind, enjoy the encouragement He gives.
Allow the Spirit to soothe your soul, so without fear you can live.
Take the peace of the Savior; let it sing to you its sweet song.
Let joy flow forth inside you to make you strong.
Tear down the walls of bitterness, and the towers of pride.
Allow the forgiving Spirit to reign inside.
Rest in the Holy Scriptures, learn it promises and believe in them.
Allow the love of Christ to warm you from within.
Bring the sins that the enemy piles high on your back,
And allow God to throw them in the sea intact.
Trust in the One that loves you more than words can say.
Give Him your life and your problems and fears dissolve away.

Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

If you have never asked Jesus to be your Lord, this is the perfect time. It is so very simple, first, admit you are a sinner, and are in need of a Savior. Believe and accept what He did for you, and ask Jesus to enter your heart and to live His life in you. He is faithful; you will never be sorry for your decision!

Sometimes I Fail By Brenda Drake

            I use to beat myself up for not acting the way I felt was acceptable to glorify God, and would help others recognize the Good News of Salvation.  Little by little it has sunk in I will never be a perfect example of what a Christ-follower should be. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus and a perfect example of God’s love and provision of salvation and grace.

Sometimes I Fail

Sometimes I fail and fall short of what I should be.
And many flaws in my character I see.
My shortcomings are so clear,
If I dwell on them I begin to fear
I know at times my light shines dim.
And I need it seems to start all over again.
But when I begin to feel low,
Lord Your love again begins to flow.
You show me my value in Your eyes.
And remind me of Your sacrifice.
When You administer Your sweet touch,
It heals the brokenness and fills me up.
When I am weakest, You are my strength.
When my soul thirsts, You give me drink.
When I am overburdened You carry my part.
When lonely You remind me, You are in my heart.
When I fall You still do not cast me aside.
In my dark failures You see  my heart’s cry.
In my circumstances, and the flaws that disgrace;
You see perfection, filtered through grace.
Help me Lord to not be discouraged, but to strive to overcome.
So I am a glory to Jesus when my life is done

Psalms 32:5-7
I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah

Ashes; Blown Away by the Wind By Brenda Drake

When I think of all the wonderful promises that lie ahead when my Lord Jesus returns; my heart soars with a great indescribable joy.  Then I am reminded by the Holy Spirit, He is always working right now in our everyday life. Several times I have experienced His delivered beauty instead some of my life’s discouraging ashes.

Ashes; Blown Away by the Wind

Yesterday’s ashes blow away in the wind; gathered no more to be kept;
For the flower of tomorrow has no room for any of it.
The deep lines of worry etched by time on the face,
Are blown away they too are forever erased.
The heavy thoughts that fight to surface now and then;
They too are blown away by the wind.
Pain, and despair, fears and shame,
And every other discomfort that torments by any other name;
All are ashes.  All are discarded they are useless to keep.
Ashes are everything that causes the heart to weep.
Until this glorious day there is instruction wise,
Fill your mind with Jesus, look into His eyes.
Look into the promises in God’s Word.
When you practice daily a new truth occurs,
He indeed shares His beauty and places it within,
Ashes are not kept there they are blown away by the wind.

John 3:8
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Isaiah 61:3
o appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
