When I thought I was in charge of my own life; living as I desired, with no rules or regulations, I was really in bondage. I was doing as the enemy of my soul desired. I was set free by the work of the cross in my behalf.
The Prison of Self
Self is like a prison; with walls of pride.
It holds a carnal nature inside.
Greed and self-adoration is fostered in this place.
Arrogance keeps the imprisoned far from God’s grace.
Lack of knowledge is encouraged too,
For, to listen to wisdom you find breakthrough.
In the prison of self it is easy to stay entrapped,
For small amounts of bitterness bring selfish attitudes back.
Anger and gossip cause walls to stronger grow.
They are all enemies of your soul.
Self-pity, doubt, and fears,
Are also rooms in the prison do you hear?
A little jealousy will also do the same.
But you are able to destroy barriers in Jesus name.
The Holy Spirit helps win the fight.
You need to keep the Lord in sight.
His love frees from the imprisoned place.
There is victory in Christ; freed by His amazing grace.
Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me;
because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek;
he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
