The Story of a Heart By Brenda Drake

The Story of the Heart

When I think about Jesus …my heart begins to swell;
Almost bursting with desire to its story tell.
The corridors were dark and sad before.
There were no windows and very few doors.
Closed up tight with even more walls building up within,
For there was no real desire to allow anyone in.
A lonely place, empty, with confusion in the air;
For time had proven that no one really cared.
The childlike hopes and dreams were thrown away;
Rotting in the corners starting to decay.
Then says my heart…
The inner world became a new place,
Touched by God’s mercy and His sweet amazing grace.
Light and love entered through the opened door,
With the redeeming power might of the risen Lord.
Joy cleared the air with the aroma of Christ.
The walls began to crumple disappearing out of sight.
Sweet songs perfume the air with pleasing peace within;
Now that my heart is home to Him.
Precious new hope and faith shines out from me,
Now that from darkness I have been freed.
Oh heart, keep sending out praise to God above;
To tell of the mighty work of His incredible love.

Jerimiah 31:3
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
