Why Not? By Brenda Drake

            We hear grumbling and complaining on every side.  We whine about the condition of the world and yet will not change our little part of the world.  Why not? If we truly desire a better world we need to not be a part of the problem. Lord soften our heart and give us eyes to see and to hear the truth that will set us free to better serve You.

Why Not

If the world is not pleasing, and it’s sins horrify you so,
Why not listen to those that tell you, to of it let go?
If the heart aches and the worries of life astound,
Why not take them to the Cross and lay them down?
If the commandments of God you agree is true,
Why not allow the One that gave them abide in you?
If you feel tension in the world and you strive happiness and peace
Why not place aside prejudices that cause stress to increase?
If you recognize your sins and you see you fall short of the mark,
Why not repent and accept what the Father sent from His heart?
Why not kiss the hem of the garment of the Lord Jesus Christ?
And in return lay down your own life?
I ask you why not, because so many I see,
Only goes so far and still they are not set free.
Why not let go and give your life to Jesus the King?
For if you fail to go this far, you have missed everything.

Proverbs 23:26
My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Hebrew 3:7-8
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
Harden not your hearts,:

Dear Reader By Brenda Drake

I wrote this poem many years ago; it is certainly just as relevant today.

Dear Reader

Dear Reader of this letter in rhyme,
I write this message but it is not mine.
As the world’s turmoil will increase;
Seek refuge in the Prince of Peace.
If you feel all is hopeless and feel lost
Come and seek forgiveness at the cross;
As you experience the stress of the times ahead,
Place your hope in Jesus and what the Word has said.
When hatred’s heavy hand touches your life,
Ask and you receive protection from Christ.
When the time has come for a choice,
Do not allow defeat – lift up your voice.
Lift up the name of Jesus and you will see.
That He indeed also stands up and fight for thee.
When the times are hard, lean into God’s love and care;
Read the Word and know He is of all things aware.
As you trust watch and wait – He will come through,
For He cannot lie; His Word is truth.
I end this rhyme with one more thought to write;
Watch and be ready and you will see that I am right.
Soon Jesus will appear in the clouds and turmoil and sin,
Will be overcome by His rule… on this word you can depend!

Psalms 91:1-4
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler

Each Day’s Decision Brenda Drake

            There is a battle going on each day.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Each Day’s Decision

The attack begins at each days start.
It grabs onto my mind and tries to enter my heart.
It comes in different forms but the mission is the same;
But each day my decision remains.
One day perhaps its worry and the struggle begins.
But with diligence and prayer I turn it back to Jesus again.
The world’s circumstances loom and shout out its threats,
But then my heart remembers God is in control yet.
Sickness, heartbreak, and despair come by;
But then I remember The Healer and Helper lives inside.
I am with His strength able to do what is best.
Then if I am wise I will pray and then in His presence rest.
Each day my decision is Jesus. He is my choice.
I will read the Word and I will hear His voice.
I am not nearly as strong as I think I am sometimes;
But I am stronger than I think when Jesus is kept in mind.s

Hebrews 12:1-2
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

All Because By Brenda Drake

Grace

            I was not looking to be saved.  I did not even know I needed to be saved.  I am now set aside, and have a new purpose to my life.  I did nothing to earn it and did nothing to deserve it. It is true only because my heavenly Father, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit called me to Him and set to work for me to receive such a great gift as this.

All Because

All because of a Father’s love, was mankind saved by grace.
All Because of the obedient Son my sins are erased
Because of a sacrifice on a tree upon the hill;
All because the Son of God died in my place I am fulfilled.
All because of a prayer stated in behalf of my soul;
All because ears heard from the Almighty’s throne;
All because the Spirit wooed and urged my heart to believe;
All because of God’s angels work, to help me receive.
All because of Jesus do I now write this word of rhyme.
All because of mercy and grace am I with Him aligned.
Only because He chose me and because He helped me change,
Am I free to live without bondage and shame.
All because of Him I am brand new within.
I will try to serve and do all I can to glorify Him;

Isaiah 43:10
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

God’s Promises By Brenda Drake

I used to think prayer was almost like begging for favors and pleading for mercy.  Both are and can be true but truly prayer encompasses more than that.  When we learn God’s Word and recognize His promises we have a better idea of what His divine will for us as His chosen people.  If God’s Word says it…believe it.  If we believe it then we can stand on it and with confidence speak it in our prayer-requests.

God’s Promises

As plush and as valuable as the richest thing you know;
As pure and as white as the love God bestows.
As high and as wide as the mountains and beyond;
And as sure and as true as Jesus, the Foundation strong;
The Promises of God are everything man needs.
They are definite; the truth spoken is like planting good seeds.
The promises of God is pure love expressed.
In the name of Jesus, pure-love is confessed;
Their power reaches heaven; they are based on God’s reliability.
The Promises of God are backed by wisdom and honor that must be.
The Promises of God cannot be shaken, nor can they prove untrue.
Depend upon them with all your heart; as a gift they are bestowed on you.
Offer the love you have within, and place it on your lips to God’s promises claim;
Speak out your expectations in Jesus’ name.
If it aligns with Scriptures know the answer will come.
Pray fervently for there is much work to be done.
Read, study, and learn My ways and you will see,
The promises I give will materialize for thee.

Psalms 1:1-3
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psalms 119:140
Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

In Harmony By Brenda Drake

Sweet are the songs of Salvation.  Like a dance together in accord with Love and the lover of the Lord!

In Harmony

In harmony with God is the One
That rests in His strength to get His work done.
Like a dance together in accord;
Love and the lover of the Lord.
Sweet music together they make in life;
The redeemed soul and the Anointed One together delight.
Within man is the divider that pulls out of step,
That ruins the tune of the Master- that is called flesh.
Flesh is self-ruled and sings a different song;
At times its notes are jangling and strong.
The skilled, and the one obedient will quickly stop its sound;
By the work of the Lord: flesh is put down.
The old man must die for the new man to live strong.
It is a choice who it is that sings your life’s song.
The selfish, self-seeking, full of trouble and strife:
Or the one that allows God’s rule in their life.
In harmony the soul sings a love song sweet and true;
With peace and joy Jesus is singing with you.

2 Corinthians 13:14
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

He is Beautiful By Brenda Drake

            The world’s wonders all were created by the One most beautiful.  God is love and He loves to show Himself to everyone who will have eyes open to see.  He loves us so much He became a part of His creation so He could pay the sin-debt of every soul.  Every seeking heart will be able to behold the truth that will set them free to enjoy His creation with a new reborn soul.  Together we will proclaim…

He is Beautiful

There are so many things for the eyes to see;
With colors lovely, displayed endlessly.
The sky is blue some would say,
But I have seen countless color combinations on display.
The mountains can be green, brown, or white,
Blue, pink, or purple to cause the eyes delight.
Water appears blue, brown, and even looks green or gray
And the infinite tints of trees, flowers and grasses amaze.
But when a glimpse comes to reveal,
The treasure of Heaven and His touch we feel,
There is nothing that can compare to Him.
All life’s treasures are found in Him.
Jesus is beautiful, so beautiful… in wonder we become aware,
That so great, so wonderful are the gifts that He shares.
His love gave His life to offer new life to the lost.
His love suffered to pay our debt of sin on the cross.
He is beautiful, so beautiful is all my heart can say.
All I am and ever will be is in His name proclaimed.
I am free to live a life with eyes able to now behold,
The beauty this life on earth can hold.
I am able to recognize the One whose light gave sight to me,
Revealing the truth His splendor is evident in all that I see.

Zechariah 9:17
For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty!

Blinded by the Smoke of Your Own Fire By Brenda Drake

*

            We can be doing the right thing and even move in the right direction and still be just a little off
track.  How is this? When we make our own way, utilizing our own efforts and our own plans how to get there.  Then when something hinders our progress we become confused and fearful.  For, we are trying too hard to accomplish what God desires to help us do with His strength, His wisdom, and His help.

Blinded by the Smoke of Your Own Fire

You have made your plans and set your face to do,
Perhaps even feeling God is leading you.
You push and shove things out of the way;
To on your purposed path stay.
But when things keep getting in the way perhaps,
It is God trying to get you back on track.
The wise will daily seek to see,
If where they go is where God leads.
You ask what does this word mean?
Is the direction I go not the way right I have seen?
Am I blinded by the smoke of my own fire?
Is my dream my dream and not as God desires?
How am I able to know if my way is right?
How am I able to discern I am clear of sight?
Does my walk of faith need some repair?
Father, will You a sure solution share?
I tell you friend your direction is true,
But it is up to me not up to you.
You must be open to the way I have designed for you to go
Not blinded by the smoke of your own understanding but trusting God’s control.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

The Mission By Brenda Drake

I thought  my goal was to be happy.  I chased after things to accomplish my quest.  But one day I found I could never be truly happy unless I was free from sin’s weight from my soul.   I find my mission is accomplished only as I live to do my Father’s will.  I am now full of joy in service to Him.

The Mission

The mission and purpose of life,
Is to live each day representing Christ.
In thoughts, words, and deeds done,
All show the glory of the most Holy One.
To preach the Good News near and far,
Living and speaking Christ; wherever you are.
Love the unlovely by covered prayer,
With heart extended because you care.
The mission is to show the lost,
God’s saving grace by leading to the cross.
Feed and cover those you see,
Extend a helping hand to those in need.
Spoon feed the sick, with words that heal,
Clothe in healing coverings that prove God is real.
Love is the covering upon you placed.
You are covered by the warmth of God’s embrace.
So go forth in prayer and in mercy’s might;
Minister in the name of Christ.
When the day is over and your life is done,
You can say mission- accomplished to Jesus God’s Son.

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

How Lovely are the Feet of Them By Brenda Drake

I once shared my faith with a relative and she said she thought our spiritual belief should be a private matter and did not think we should share openly with others.  I am glad and honored that our Lord even says our feet are lovely when we share our faith.

How Lovely Are the Feet of Them

How beautiful are the feet of them that spread the Word;
That shares the Good News and tells the things they have heard.
How lovely are the feet of them that travel to the hill of Calvary;
To bow at the cross to offer their life to Me.
Precious are they that tread over the harsh roads of life;
And overcome temptations and continues to do right.
How lovely are the feet of them that pray night and day;
To keep their feet on the good path and right decisions make.
My chosen are blessed from head to toe; blessed through and through;
For they go out to show others what they need to do.
Walk on the pathway in the footsteps of God’s Son.
Blessed are the feet of them that help get God’s work on earth done.

Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Luke 4:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
