Jesus is the Well-Marked Path By Brenda Drake

Jesus is the way.  His example shows the way.  Jesus is the Word.  His words reveals to us the way.  He said He will never leave or forsake us.  He is a high-tower in life’s storms.  He speaks to the wind that blows.  He calms our troubled sea.  I do not want to take one step without Him.  Because of His provision to send the Holy Spirit, my forever companion, I never need to find my own way again.

Jesus is the Well-Marked Path

There is a well ordered, well-marked path;
 With pitfalls plainly revealed on the track.
Danger is great, but there is a loving guide,
He makes a covering for you and He moves inside.
His provisions are sufficient, with pure water and fresh bread.
And He fully assures He knows the way ahead.
In Him is all knowledge, His wisdom mystifies.
He has full access anywhere, His authority is fully recognized.
No one is able to deny Him entrance, and only He closes doors.
He is the eternal light that shines forward.
He is truth, no lie touches upon His lips.
He is the Word that speaks many promises.
There is no mountain too high or water too wide or deep;
For in Him and with Him is mighty unlimited strength.
He is called Savior, Son of God, best friend,
He is Emmanuel; God with us, trust in Him.
His name is Jesus; there is no name higher than this.
He offered His life to your life assist.
He bought and paid for our safe destination with His blood.
He fully loves us, He is committed for our good.
Who would be so foolish to this great gift reject?
Only the foolish man; his decision he will surely regret.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man
cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Taste of Freedom By Brenda Drake

I love, enjoy and appreciate the liberties we experience in our Nation.  At times it feels as if they are rapidly slipping through our fingers.  My prayer is that God heals our land.  But there is a freedom to be enjoyed that tastes sweeter by far!  .

2 Timothy  1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Taste of Freedom

The sweet taste of freedom many yearn to savor;
Where there is harmony and peace and God’s favor.
Then there are those have unknowingly let it go;
Little by little: painlessly, acceptably slow.
Some are blinded by the process and cannot see;
 Until it is too late to be reprieved.
Come into the place
Where freedom lives under God’s hand of grace.
You are set free from the debt of sin.
It has been taken care of by Him.
You are free to worship and set free to sing,
Songs of salvation to honor Christ the King.
You are free in spirit; even in the world of woes,
For you are free indeed in heart, mind and soul.
Set free to fully express and to share,
With a world in bondage the truth that God truly cares.
The sweet taste of freedom is greater when God heals the land.
All glory comes from and is delivered back to the God I AM.

John 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

The Flower of Respect By Brenda Drake

Happy Mother’s day. Gifts are great but love and respect is of far more value.

The Flower of Respect

Consier the flower …it is a beautiful thing
It is a chosen gift for pauper or for a King
Lovely and sweet smelling….though often shared
They are fragile and must be treated with care
A flower has the ability to lift your spirit when you are sad
With the touch of God it inspires and makes a heart glad
Mothers are like a flower too
How many times has she bloomed for you?
She is there from your beginning and even till the end
She is your greatest fan, ….your greatest friend
Her love is powerful, with aroma of her own
She is truly the beauty of the godly, well run home
Her place of honor is well known in heaven’s realm above
For like the flower that blooms she also shows God’s love
What a wonder she is to see
When you show her love she is renewed right in front of thee
There is great value in a child’s words of praise
Like a flower of respect are the words “Happy Mother’s day”

Ephesians 6:2-3
Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

What You Give You Receive By Brenda Drake

I marvel at the thought of seeds. What a miracle, inside a seed was a tree;
That had the honor to become the cross that Jesus died on to set us free.
He gave His all to give us new life.
What an honor it is to become a seed to glorify Christ.

What You Give You Receive

You have heard that it is more blessed to give than to receive;
But in God’s kingdom – you will get what you give; for it is a seed.
Many think giving only applies to wealth shared with others;
But this law encompasses much more you will discover.
As you learn to give kindness – you will kinder become.
When you show respect, you will receive respect from someone.
As you give a smile to your brother you will see,
That you will feel the smile of God shining on thee.
Give good words – speak things that edify,
And the Word of God will bring you a fresh supply.
Give good directions – give good advice.
Give to benefit another as self is sacrificed.
When trouble comes give to God your requests;
Then give God time to work things out for your best.
Give God thanks and praise everyday.
Watch very carefully the words that you say;
For your words also return, so speak words of faith and hope.
And you will be strengthened by them when you need them most.
Give abundantly – in all areas and you will agree,
That though it is more blessed to give, it is also great to receive.

Luke 6:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

The Greatest Love Story By Brenda Drake

As a young woman, I loved to read love stories.  I dreamed of a knight in shiny armor rescuing me, or of prince- charming making me his princess.  Then one fine day I heard the most amazing love story that not only my Prince came to rescue me, He died to make me able to be His eternal bride.

The Greatest Story

The greatest love story ever told is about God’s plan.
How He would save His creation called man.
It tells how He took upon Himself their sin and shame,
So they could be without blame.
He loves so much He gives man choice of their own will;
To love Him, or to their own destiny fulfill.
He has paid the price to give life eternally.
He died a shameful death so they could be free.
He was raised up from the pits of the grave.
Man chooses to believe and receive His gift or to their own debt pay.
His desire is for all to come to be One with Him.
But most do not see the way to enter in.
The greatest love story many will never understand.
They are blinded by the world; only hearing the stories of man.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Psalms 119:30-35
I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.
I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame.
I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.
Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.

Great in God’s Sight By Brenda Drake

            The vilest person, the one you think grotesque and beyond redemption; in a moment, in the blink of the eye, may be seen as clean and new as a new born baby.  I once would have said it was impossible, but I now know with God nothing is impossible; for He reached down and saved me from the death-sentence of sin. He paid the debt that I was incapable and unable to pay. The once lost was found, the unclean made pure, the despicable created beautiful, and raised up one with the Creator of all things.

Grand in God Sight

Magnificent and perfectly grand,
Are those that take hold of God’s hand.
Why is this seen as so impressive to God above?
Great, is the chasm between hate and love.
The step across the barrier that separates,
Man from God is a great step in faith.
When you trust in God and repent your sins,
God enters your heart, and new life begins.
You have put aside the desire to allow self to rule.
This to God is a very precious jewel.
Wondrous, majestic; larger than anything you know;
Is the great work as you allow God to save your soul.
Yes, I’m pleased with my children saved by grace
A treasure in my eyes is each and every face.

Deuteronomy 32:9-12
For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.

Forever Decision By Brenda Drake

Jesus is the greatest decision I ever made.  I am forever grateful for the prayers of my sister in my behalf.  I was not looking for a Savior for I did not know I needed one.  My Lord’s love reached into my dark soul and turned on the light of the truth of the dilemma of my soul.  It is a decision that it will take eternity to thank God for calling me to Him.

Forever Decision

Forever; a word that holds no real meaning for man,
It is a concept; a truth too hard to fully understand.
Forever, never to end,
There is no time limit once it begins.
Man’s choice upon the earth is important, if they will but see.
Their decision will last for eternity.
So foolish, not a speck of intelligence, is the choice that denies,
The acceptance of Jesus’ work left unrecognized.
It is a forever decision that can never turn about;
How is it they choose to doubt?
What is gained by their stand?  What value are a few years of self-control,
When you talk about the forever rest for your soul?
The foolish man hears the Word and still ignores its plea,
He will be tormented by his decision through eternity;
Forever sorry to his shame,
In eternal torment he remains.
The wise man will see that it is too great a price,
To reject the One that came to give eternal life.
He willingly offers his life to the One that saved his soul,
Choosing to spend eternity, with the One that makes him whole.
Jesus promises peace and joy with love that will their life embrace.
The wise will accept the truth of His amazing grace.
There is yet time oh foolish man; choose life instead of death.
Decide to give your life now to Jesus and a great future you can expect.

Joel 3:14
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision:
for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

Direction for the Gentle Spirit By Brenda Drake

I never was a person to set out to hurt someone, but I also did not care enough to set out to help them either.  A great change has taken place in my life since Jesus saved my soul.  I not only care for others but I spend time thinking of ways to help them if I am able.  My prayers now are not just for my needs but are also for the need of salvation and the concerns of others.

Direction for the Gentle Spirit

Direction for the gentle spirit, yielded and still,
That hungers and thirsts after the Father’s will.
For the one who wants to see beauty in the most unlovable kind,
That purposes to good in each person find.
Know your God will reveal the deep innermost part,
 Of the valuable, empty space in their heart.
I will give you the ability to not only see,
But love enough to inside of them reach for me.
That hard, relentless, calculating person you know,
Has a great need within their soul.
The bitter, angry man uncompromising in his ways
Has great need within for God’s love to brighten his days.
The very sinful man that seems to wallow in the world’s mire,
Their heart too your God also desires.
If you allow me to show you we will gather more and more,
Into the holy presence of the love of your Lord.
I will bestow upon you more than you can contain,
You will over flow like a river in Jesus’ name.
Sweet and peaceful with a gentle warm embrace,
That honors the Father in the world’s last days.
Oh gentle spirit become more like the One you serve.
Learn from the Holy Spirits still voice as you read God’s Word.

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Empty it All By Brenda Drake

We at times think we just need to buck up, grit our teeth, and take what life dishes out, but our Lord desires to help us in every situation we find our self in.  He wants to hear and answer our prayers.

Empty it all

Empty yourself of everything that holds you back.
Every burden carried is a hindrance- in fact;
Worry over loved ones steals away your peace;
As you carry it, its weight will increase.
Fear of the future, even seemingly small weights of unrest,
Will cause you to fall short of God’s best.
Things that occupy your mind, that you do not share,
Causes you some harm, that as yet you are unaware.
Empty it all; place your whole life in Jesus’ hands;
Then you will experience the peace meant for man.
Place your heavy heart on the altar as a sacrifice
Any encumbrances quickly push aside.
God’s approval will shine bright on your life;
For great is the love between the bride and Christ.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Fragrance of Life or Death By Brenda Drake

I love the smell of flowers but dead flowers do not inspire my heart to sing.  God loves all of His creation, but He hates the stench of sin.  He made it possible for us to smell good again.  It is our choice to keep our life alive by obeying the Word and by repenting and by turning from our wicked ways.

Fragrance of Life or Death

There is no mistaking the difference, everyone can tell;
Life and death has different smells.
Look around at what you hear, taste, and see;
Are they life-giving things or do they stink?
Gossip may seem a tasty morsel but it brings death.
It has no life-giving promise to expect.
Hurtful words that hang heavy in heart and mind,
Have a terrible scent that is hard to take sometimes.
To God there is an aroma sweet to hear, taste, and see.
His affection is constant for those who His help receives.
Obedience along with honor and respect for others,
Is the perfume of Jesus, your soul-lover.
Jesus is life.  He gives life to the lost,
He draws from death to new life at the cross.
There is no mistaking the difference when you come,
The stench of death is replaced by the fragrance of God’s Son.

2 Corinthians 2:14-15
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

Ephesians 5:2
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
